Wanderlei Silva releases video condemning Nevada commission’s handling of Jon Jones’ drug test

"This sport has to be regulated," Silva added. "The way that it's going can't continue. This commission is a mess. They don't know what they are [doing]. You can punish or not? There's no set punishment, there's no set testing system. You guys have to be professionals, you ask for fighters to be professionals when you are not. How can you want to put people on trial without laws? Without laws that apply equally to all? Everybody knows the UFC is a business. They put on fights to make money, and in those regards they're not wrong. But the entity that implements the laws for the athletes, the entity that punishes athletes and controls their lives yet doesn't know what they're doing, just can't be.

Interview Exclusive: Everything you always wanted to know about Greg Jackson

Greg Jackson: No, nothing like that [laughs]. It was more about, ‘Why did Coach spend more time with him than with me?' or, ‘What do you mean that I can't do many pull-ups as him?' There's a lot of pride among fighters. Being in a room with sixty-some-odd alpha males, all of them are going to be sensitive in some way or other. It's paramount to treat them with the utmost respect and try to focus on all of their needs, which I'm not always good at, but when I slip up and make mistakes, I strive to learn from it be better.

Prominent Michigan Cancer Doctor Pleads Guilty: ‘I Knew That It Was Medically Unnecessary’

Needleman Sam, I am a physician as well. I am double board certified in internal medicine and emergency medicine. As great as the salary based pay sounds to you, it is a terrible idea. The VA is a terrible healthcare system and is a good approximation of how a government based healthcare system would operate. I work in the ER at a level 1 trauma center in Atlanta. We treat veterans from the VA that are in terrible condition because their doctors didn't believe there was a need for certain tests ( chest x-ray, CT, blood work, etc…). I have been out of residency for 5 years and I still have $158,000 in student loans. I get paid an hourly rate from the contract company for the ER. The more I work, the more I can make. I am a conservative and I do not support the AMA for their stance in healthcare. They lobby for the minority of physicians. I do not support Obamacare due to the fact that it has hurt the people with insurance ,and the people without insurance still do not have affordable insurance. The government takes around 38% of my salary every year and distributes it to programs that do not encourage self sufficiency.

Nick Newell, WSOF have different visions of the fighter's future with the promotion

"I tried to get in when I was 9-0 with eight first-round finishes and some big wins and they said no," Newell said. "Then they let guys with 1-1 records in there. It makes no f*cking sense to me. Being in the UFC is not as cool as it used to be if they're just letting anyone in. I don't know what the deal is. It's like you think you can win all these fights and they'll let you in. They just have to like you and I'm not gonna beg for anyone that didn't see anything in me to hire me and give me a fight. WSOF wanted me and that's where I went and that's where I've been. I'm not bitter."

Conor McGregor Talks Anticipating a Big Irish Reception in Boston | FIGHTLAND

It was crazy going out there the first time, it really was a crazy experience for me because you always hear about the Irish Americans, even when I’m in America it’s like everyone is Irish.

Officer’s Reaction After Justified Killing OBLITERATES ‘Bad Cop’ Narrative

Police officers today are collectively receiving a bad reputation, as race hustlers continue their ignorant and misguided narrative that justifiable deadly force is race motivated. One recent video not only proves but completely obliterates the misconception that all cops are racist bigots that are out to willingly take a life and don’t care when they are forced to do so.

‘Peace On Earth’ Is 75 Years Old—And More Relevant Than Ever

As lauded as it might have been at the time, the prevailing mood in the country was still very isolationist, an attitude echoed in the film’s depiction of man’s willingness to go to war over nothing (carnivore vs herbivore? Seriously?). As inevitable as war in Europe seemed to be at the time, that’s where America wanted to keep it — far away. Even the artistic depiction of war in a Great War vein without the realities of blitzkrieg and the horrors that wouldn’t become common knowledge until the second war was over seems like a device to distance the audience from the very real issues behind the fighting (something that also affected James Thurber’s parable “The Last Flower”). But the story itself, with the animals emerging from the forest when the shooting’s over, is still a powerful vision of the meek inheriting the Earth.

15 Chicago athletes in line for a big 2015

Ryan Dempster may be retired, but his legacy lives on in the Cubs rotation in the form of Kyle Hendricks, the young right-handed pitcher they acquired for him in a trade from Texas in 2012. The 25-year-old Dartmouth graduate (with a degree in economics, no less) impressed in his first taste of the big leagues in 2014, going 7-2 with a 2.46 ERA in 13 starts. The smart money says that momentum figures to carry over into 2015 now that he has his sea legs about him at Wrigley Field.

Former UFC 155 champ Benson Henderson pumps brakes on planned welterweight move

The former UFC champ also knows competing at welterweight would mean taking significantly fewer risks. For example, at lightweight, Henderson (21-4 MMA, 9-2 UFC) accepted the UFC Fight Night 59 bout with Cerrone (25-6 MMA, 13-3 UFC) on just 13 days’ notice.

31 Garry Tonon Subs Bellator MMA's Marcin Held at Polaris Pro Jiu-Jitsu Invitational

Keenan Cornelius, one of the brightest young stars in the jiu-jitsu world, controlled long-time grappling legend Dean Lister in the main event of the inaugural Polaris Pro Jiu-Jitsu Invitational in Cardiff Wales. Cornelius used his lanky frame to keep Lister honest and when he found the opening he needed, the Team Atos standout capitalized. After several submission attempts that were thwarted by “The Boogeyman,” Cornelius saw daylight during a scramble. Keenan seized the Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran’s back, briefly thought about the rear-naked choke and then switched gears to an arm bar. Lister saw both attempts coming so Cornelius immediately altered his plan and latched on a triangle choke from the back. Lister fought it off the best he could, but when the bulkier grappler rolled over to his knees, he had to tap out. Related » Polaris Pro Jiu-Jitsu Invitational Play-by-Play Leg lock specialist Garry Tonon made surprisingly quick work of fellow leg grappler and Bellator MMA phenom Marcin Held with a heel hook submission about four minutes into the match.

Twishort / WarMachine170: Where to begin? It's sad to say …

Where to begin? It's sad to say that I am 1000 times more embarrassed of what I'm about to tell you, than I am of being accused of the crimes that have landed me in jail. It's a testament to how screwed up my way of thinking is, as well as to how screwed up our society has become. At first I blamed this whole situation on Christy and that guy. Then I blamed my bad luck. Then I blamed my bad karma. Then I blamed myself. Then I blamed steroids. Then I blamed the programming job done to my subconscious mind… A product of a traumatic childhood and a poor choice of role models. One of them has to be the culprit, there must be some reason that, though I always have the best of intentions, I keep landing myself in huge messes. And why am I so restless, why am I never satisfied? I've achieved countless goals: I'm a professional athlete, I own my own business, I once had the perfect little wife, then I had Christy – my life, though enviable on all accounts – never satisfied me no matter how well it is going; I find a reason to be unhappy, a reason to sabotage it. A few blogs ago I wrote about the letter from my grandfather; his letter, and my response to it, broke my heart all over again.
