TJ Dillashaw: 'I'm always going to have something to prove'

"I don't like the fakeness of it. I don't like the WWE aspect of the drama. I just want to be a martial artist. I got into this sport because I liked it. I like the sport. I don't like that we have to do all this stuff. I feel like Conor has made a new job for us. We have to promote our own fights a lot more than we used to because of what he's doing."

Fight for Fighters

MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world. Mixed Martial Artists should be treated like professional athletes. Fighters should have the right to know how much money a promotion is making from an event. Fans should have the right to see the best possible fights through independent rankings. Extending the Ali Act to MMA would help professionalize the sport & stop the conflicts of interests that currently exist in the sport.

TJ Dillashaw and Duane Ludwig: A match made in heaven

"That's hard to find someone that 'OCD' (obsessive compulsive disorder) about how you do and how you perform and looks at it as a direct reflection on him as a coach. Me and him grew together. He grew as a coach because he had never been a coach before. He taught classes but had never been in charge of a fight team and when he came out to Sacramento, he grew as a coach and I grew as a fighter and it was nice for both of us. We created our own style."

Travis Browne: 'I'm a statement maker' and somebody is going to sleep

"Every chance to work together with Edmond and the guys at the gym, we get into a rhythm. It sounds weird but my ears almost learn the tone of his voice, what he's expected or if there's urgency or not. You breathe and become in tune with your coach. Every time you work together, whatever he's calling out for, whatever combinations he calls for, all that takes time to get used to and get into the rhythm of the fight. It's been over a year since Coach Edmond (and I) have been working together and it gets better every time," Browne told FOX Sports.

Deontay Wilder Defends Against Artur Szpilka, Spews Against Tyson Fury

.@BronzeBomber knocks out @szpilka_artur in round 9 and retains his WBC heavyweight title #AndStill #WilderSzpilka https://t.co/aB8J3liY8T — SHOWTIME SPORTS (@SHOsports) January 17, 2016 BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- It was perfect, blunt, short and devastating. In a blink, the game, courageous Artur Szpilka was on his back—and WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder kept his belt with a crushing right hand on the chin that stopped the Polish southpaw at 2:24 of the ninth round Saturday night at Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, N.Y. And then it turned into the Tyson Fury show, as the WBA heavyweight titlist challenged Wilder, and then went gallivanting around the ring, gesticulating and bellowing how great he is and how much of a phony Wilder (36-0, 35 KOs) is, despite the overwhelming right he landed on poor Szpilka (20-2, 15 KOs), who was taken from the ring tied down to a stretcher. Related » Wilder-Szpilka Round-by-Round Scoring At the time of the knockout, the fight was competitive. UFC Fight Night 81 Statistical Matchup Analysis: Dillashaw vs. Cruz

Champion will fight former champion at UFC Fight Night “Dillashaw vs. Cruz” on Sunday at the TD Garden in Boston. Former bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has been on the shelf for the greater part of the last four years due to a long string of broken hands, torn knee ligaments and a torn groin. Cruz was the final World Extreme Cagefighting champion and the Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s inaugural titleholder at 135 pounds, but he vacated the title in January 2014 after more than two years of injury-induced inactivity. He briefly returned later that year and demolished Takeya Mizugaki , earning a title shot that would end up getting pushed back for another torn ACL. “The Dominator” has not lost a fight since dropping down from featherweight to bantamweight in 2008. Related » UFC Fight Night Boston Full Lineup Meanwhile, incumbent champion T.J. Dillashaw is coming off of a relatively quiet year. After posting back-to-back three-fight years in 2013 and 2014 -- a run that also saw him capture and defend the UFC bantamweight title -- Dillashaw fought only once in 2015, defeating former champion Renan Barao for a second time in July.

Tim Boetsch and Ed Herman made their returns to the light heavyweight division tonight at “UFC Fight Night 81”, likely due to the ban of IV-bags being used to rehydrate after weigh-ins.
