UFC Champ Jon Jones: 'I am Not a Cocaine Addict by Any Means' | MMAWeekly.com
Andreas, when you have seen first hand what cocaine (or ANY addiction) can do to people you will have a better grasp of the situation. Jones may still be in denial of his problems and nobody will ever know this until he really crashes hard…and I hope he gets it fixed before that time comes. I agree with Dr Hart about the exaggeration of illicit drug use on the topic of marijuana, but coke, heroin, and meth are not to be underestimated. It’s all NASTY stuff. Addiction to those three drugs can make a straight man sell his bung hole on the street, steal from his family and loved ones, and cause irrational thought leading to abusive and destructive behaviors…and ultimately lead to increased use to the point of overdose. A recreational cocaine, heroine, and meth user is hard to find due to the ones you think you know are simply in the early stages of addiction.

UFC Fight Night 59: McGregor vs Siver - live results and play by play
Jumping switch kick from McGregor is blocked but he peels off a clean left hand, has his supporting leg chopped out by a kick, and gets up to land another left. Siver glances with another counter left. Now a right body kick and left front kick from Siver to keep McGregor at bay. McGregor steps in for a knee, smashes Siver with a straight left that knocks his mouthpiece out and then pressures with a left high kick. McGregor beautifully times a left high kick. Siver shoots and half-lands it but McGregor pops right back up. Another left cross and high kick find the mark for McGregor, then he doubles up on hooks to the body. McGregor catches a kick and tosses it aside to land more punches, and then bombs away with another flurry to close the round. 10-8 McGregor.

7 countries where Americans can study at universities, in English, for free (or almost free)
Public university programs charge only a small tuition fee of about 200 dollars for most programs. Other, more elite institutions have adopted a model that requires students to pay fees that are based on the income of their parents. Children of unemployed parents can study for free, while more privileged families have to pay more. This rule is only valid for citizens of the European Union, but even the maximum fees (about $14,000 per year) are often much lower than U.S. tuition fees. Some universities, such as Sciences Po Paris, offer dual degrees with U.S. colleges.

Conor McGregor explains his stardom: I do things that have not been done before
While the hype machine certainly helps push McGregor's agenda, it's his own willingness to sell himself since the day he arrived in the UFC that makes him so marketable. McGregor never shies away from dropping a one-liner on a reporter when doing an interview and the heat he creates with opponents in the days leading up to the fight is something that hasn't been seen in the UFC since Tito Ortiz was digging graves and wearing T-shirts that taunted fighters both before and after he stepped inside the Octagon.

With the country of Ireland following reverently behind him, McGregor now stands only one win away from the title shot he has so desperately and tirelessly pursued. Married With Jiu-Jitsu: How training with the Gracies helped Ed O'Neill make it in Hollywood
It was here along the way that Ed picked up a hobby. It was, at the time, one of the lesser-known martial arts, a form of self-defense popular in Brazil. He did so quite reluctantly - the Buckeye State boxing purist in him resisted the pull of the gentler combat sport. How could he have known, when he first walked into that gym in Torrance, L.A., that he was about to embark on a decades-long educational voyage that would go hand-in-hand with his maturing acting career?

Benson Henderson vs. Cowboy Cerrone: Henderson focused on the moment
So, Henderson certainly isn't crying foul that Cerrone gets a third crack at him while the "Cowboy" is riding a six-fight win streak and was willing to face "Smooth" on short notice, since the former champ himself would love another chance at current title holder Anthony Pettis. "Showtime" has already beaten Henderson twice for titles, and the Arizona fighter is dead set on working back to another title shot.

Cathal Pendred: Boston born, Irish raised and finally going home again
"It feels like a home card regardless of me being born in Boston. With Conor and Paddy as well, they feel like they're fighting at home," Pendred said. In addition, there's a lot of people who have immigrated over here in the last few years that are living in Boston. I know there's people in New York that are going to travel up, coming from Chicago and Philadelphia and then all these Irish-Americans, who are very proud of their Irish heritage, who are going to be coming up."

The Big Brown Breakdown: Brendan Schaub breaks down UFC Fight Night
As for that controversial call by UFC president Dana White to announce that McGregor is just one win away from challenging the UFC's longest-reigning champ, Schaub says it needs to be put into proper perspective. "People complain about McGregor being given a title shot if he beats Siver, and I understand, because that will only be his fifth UFC fight. But, people also have to understand that the UFC is a promotion, and like circuses, it has to be promoted to get people's attention," he explains.

Dana White: People Are Nuts if They Don’t Think Dennis Siver Can’t ‘Ruin This Whole Thing’
Dana
White says Dennis Siver should not be taken lightly. | Dave
Mandel/Sherdog.com
It’s no secret that UFC President Dana White is one of Conor
McGregor ’s biggest supporters.
However, heading into
UFC Fight Night in Boston, White isn’t discounting the
“Notorious” Irishman’s opponent in the main evening’s main event,
either. While Dennis Siver
will be a massive underdog come Sunday night, the Russian-born
German is an 18-time Octagon veteran with notable wins over the
likes of Spencer
Fisher , George
Sotiropoulos , Matt Wiman
and Diego Nunes
during his promotional tenure.
“Nobody thought that Conor could beat Poirier and that he was
taking too big of a step up,” White told
UFC.com . “He wins, and then now for anybody to think that Siver
couldn’t ruin this whole thing is nuts because the kid can
punch.”
Of course, McGregor remains the star of the show. The former Cage
Warriors titlist recently made the rounds on the ESPN campus to
promote the fight and had a 30-minute special, “UFC Rising:
Conor
McGregor ,” air on Fox Sports 1.

Report: Curfew Could Prevent Aldo-McGregor at Soccer Stadium in Ireland
A
title bout in Conor McGregor’s home country could be on the
horizon. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
A city curfew could prevent a potential featherweight title fight
between Conor
McGregor and Jose Aldo from
taking place at a soccer stadium in Ireland later this year.
McGregor is scheduled to face Dennis Siver
on Sunday at
UFC Fight Night in Boston . A win there would likely make
“Notorious” the division’s No. 1 contender.
The UFC has targeted 82,000 seat Croke Park in Dublin -- along with
Las Vegas -- as a potential spot for the featherweight title
matchup, but according to a report from
The Score.ie , Croke Park stadium director Peter McKenna has
said that a city-imposed curfew could derail such plans.
McKenna added that the UFC has asked specifically about reserving
the venue for a date in May, but said that since the event would be
forced to end by 11 p.m. local time, it could pose a threat to the
fight taking place in McGregor’s country.
Dave
Allen , the UFC’s Director of Brand, Communications and Events
told The Score that tweaking the start time for a card of that
magnitude isn’t too far out of the question.

UFC Fight Night Boston Odds: $100 Bet on McGregor Nets Only $8.33, While Siver Pays $775
Conor McGregor is a huge betting favorite against Dennis Siver.
| Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
While anything can happen when the Octagon surrounds Conor
McGregor and Dennis Siver
during their main event bout at
UFC Fight Night “McGregor vs. Siver,” the odds are heavily in
favor of “Notorious.”
Bookmakers have released their lines for the featherweight bout
between McGregor and Siver, and all have listed the Irishman as the
betting favorite. The event will take place Jan. 18 at TD Garden in
Boston.
According to
BestFightOdds.com , the broker 5Dimes.com currently lists
McGregor as the favorite at -1200 or 1/12. On the opposite end,
Siver is getting play at +775.
In layman’s terms, a bet of $100 on McGregor would net you a measly
$8.33 (plus your investment), while a $100 wager on Siver would
earn $775 (plus the $100 back).

UFC Boston - Conor McGregor: The Puncher's Path - They say that power corrupts . . .
To Foreman's mind, it wasn't Ali that beat him. It was exhaustion. Something must have been wrong with him, the way he sees it, and he is determined to prove that he is still the greatest heavyweight on earth. In 1975 he traveled to Toronto to challenge five men in one night. His opponents--Alonzo Johnson, Jerry Judge, Terry Daniels, Charley Polite, and Boone Kirkman--were journeymen, most of them with losing records aside from Kirkman, who had nonetheless experienced four straight losses leading up to the bout. Foreman beat every one of them with ease, sadistically mocking his victims as he sent blow after thundering blow crashing against their chins. Meanwhile, Ali sat ringside, and mocked Foreman just as viciously, loudly advising his opponents to lay on the ropes and tire the big man out, just as Ali himself had done six months before. This infuriated Foreman, and he took out his rage on his hapless opposition. By the end of the night, Foreman was holding his hands high as the crowd hurled their derision--in the form of jeers and empty bottles--into the ring.

Boxing News: Deontay Wilder Stifles Bermane Stiverne
LAS VEGAS -- It was billed as the answer to the bottomless pit that
has been boxing’s heavyweight division. For what seems like eons,
the sport’s most important weight class has been suffering from a
lack of true star power, but if one was to believe the hype leading
up to the Bermane Stiverne vs. Deontay Wilder heavyweight title
fight, this was to be Ali-Frazier, Holyfield-Bowe and Foreman-Young
all rolled into one.
A few times throughout the Showtime-televised bout, there were
flashes of those old wars. But the majority of the bout saw Wilder
using a telephone pole-like jab to keep the shorter
Haitian-American at bay, with little in terms of raw action.

Wilder-Stiverne Play-by-Play
Stiverne had extreme difficulty in getting on the inside of the
taller Alabama native’s reach, which left a lot to be desired in
terms of aesthetics. But to make a fight exciting would mean both
men would be in peril and Wilder fought an intelligent fight from
start to finish.
The 2008 Olympic bronze medalist rocked the defending WBC champ
late in the first and second rounds, scoring a chaotic knockdown at
the bell of the second.
