Ex-Champ Liam McGeary to Face Vadim Nemkov at Bellator 194 on Feb. 16
Former light heavyweight champion Liam
McGeary will meet Vadim
Nemkov at
Bellator 194 .
A promotion official confirmed the pairing with Sherdog.com
following an initial report from Tass.ru . Bellator 194 takes
place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Feb. 16 and is
headlined by a heavyweight grand prix matchup pitting Matt
Mitrione against Roy Nelson .
The main card will air on the Paramount Network.
McGeary has split a pair of bouts since relinquishing the light
heavyweight title in a five-round decision to Phil Davis in
November 2016. He began his 2017 campaign with a second-round
technical knockout of Brett
McDermott at Bellator 173 in February before falling to
Linton
Vassell via third-round submission at Bellator 179 in May. The
35-year-old Englishman kicked off his career with 11 consecutive
triumphs.
Nemkov was victorious in his first promotional foray, as he knocked
out Philipe
Lins in the first round at Bellator 182 on Aug. 25. The
25-year-old Russian prospect owns an 8-2 career mark, with all of
his victories coming inside the distance.

When Rory
MacDonald came to Bellator
MMA from the
Ultimate Fighting Championship , he did not take the route to an
immediate title shot. Instead, he fought one of Bellator’s
top-ranked welterweights to get a feel for his new home, and at
Bellator 192 on Saturday, he proved it was the best path to a
championship.
Benson
Henderson and Lorenz
Larkin were given immediate title shots when they arrived. In
fact, Henderson fought for the welterweight and lightweight belts
in two of his first three appearances with the company, falling
short on the judges’ scorecards on both occasions. MacDonald
probably could have done the same, but it looks as if not doing so
has paid off. After his dominant victory over Paul Daley in
his promotional debut, MacDonald broke ground on 2018 by
challenging and defeating Douglas
Lima for the welterweight championship on the rebranded
Paramount Network.

Francis Ngannou 'Taking Some Time Off' Following Loss to Stipe Miocic
Francis Ngannou took UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic the distance in their UFC 220 headlining bout in Boston recently. None of Miocic’s five previous opponents could say the same. In fact, the last man to go the distance with Miocic, former champion Junior dos Santos, defeated Miocic when they went all five rounds in headlining UFC on FOX 13.

“Don’t get me wrong, right after [the loss] I’m still thinking about it but once I’m in the training camp for the next fight, it’s out of my head,” Larkin explained when speaking to MMAWeekly. “I’m just training. I don’t ride horses but that’s what they say with people who ride horses. You get bucked off, you can’t wait for a long time to jump back on the horse and do it again. That’s kind of my outlook on this whole fight game. Cause I’ve had a bad little string of fights in the past and I did the same thing. I just kept at it.

“Weight is usually a huge factor, but ‘DC’s’ steamrolled over heavier guys than Stipe. … Now he’s facing arguably the best heavyweight fighter in the past 20 years. Cormier’s got all the talent in the room to prepare him for a fight where he has nothing to lose. So sure, he’s (a live underdog). ”

Firas Zahabi Thinks GSP Will Be Out ‘At Least a Year or Two’ Before Returning to Fight
If Firas Zahabi is correct, Georges St.
Pierre could be due for another lengthy layoff.
While the Tristar Gym coach expects St. Pierre to eventually
compete in the UFC again, it won’t necessarily be soon. Citing
health issues due to colitis, St. Pierre vacated the middleweight
title he won with a third-round submission of Michael
Bisping at UFC 217. Prior to that, “Rush” hadn’t fought since
defending his welterweight crown against Johny
Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013.
“I have no idea [how long he’ll be out].” Zahabi told Fight
Hub TV . “I think he’s out for at least a year or two. I don’t
know. We all love Georges but he’s put in so many years, he’s put
in so many bouts, I don’t think it’s fair to ask him for more.”
In December, Zahabi indicated that St. Pierre would only return to
the UFC for a
”big, exciting fight.” One name Zahabi mentioned was Conor
McGregor , currently the promotion’s top pay-per-view draw.
Regardless of whether that fight becomes a reality, Zahabi believes
that St. Pierre’s competitive spirit will eventually lure him back
into the Octagon once again.

Michal Oleksiejczuk Flagged for Potential Anti-Doping Violation at UFC 219
The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S.
Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) informed Michal Oleksiejczuk of a
potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an
in-competition sample collected in conjunction with his recent bout
against Khalil
Rountree at UFC 219 in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 30,
2017.
USADA, the independent administrator of the UFC Anti-Doping Policy,
will handle the results management and appropriate adjudication of
this case involving Oleksiejczuk, as it relates to the UFC
Anti-Doping Policy and future UFC participation. Because the Nevada
Athletic Commission was the regulatory body overseeing the fight in
Las Vegas and has licensing jurisdiction over Oleksiejczuk, USADA
will work to ensure that the Nevada Athletic Commission has the
necessary information to determine its proper judgment of
Oleksiejczuk’s potential anti-doping violation. Additional
information will be provided at the appropriate time as the process
moves forward.

UFC on FOX 27 results: Ji Yeon Kim takes split decision from stunned Justine Kish
Kish kept the pressure on Kim in the second, then a minute in briefly tied things up. She had to eat a punch to get inside for a leg kick, then tried to pull Kim’s head down for a knee, but it wasn’t there. With a minute left, after Kim tried to put something together, Kish was able to go body-head with a right hand that snapped Kim’s head back. She went back to the body shortly thereafter, and her left hand continued to be on point.

UFC on Fox 27 ‘Jacare vs. Brunson 2’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round-by-Round Scoring
Frank
Camacho vs. Drew
Dober
Round 1
Dober connects with a right hand and a leg kick before Camacho
comes inside to clinch. Both welterweights land short punches as
they tie up, but once Camacho has Dober wrapped up, it's only a few
seconds before they hit the ground. Camacho lands in side control
on Dober's right side, but the Saipan native is unable to do
anything with the position before Dober rolls to his knees and
climbs back to his feet. Camacho slips a left hand from the
southpaw and rips an uppercut into Dober's body. Dober goes back to
his leg kick, though one of them strays high and inside; Camacho
motions that he's OK, and they fight on. Dober clinches up and
feeds Camacho a couple left hands before they hit the fence.
Camacho eats an elbow as they grapple on the wall, then rips Dober
off the cage and trips him to the mat. There's one minute left as
Camacho works from Dober's half guard, seemingly hunting for an
arm-triangle choke. Dober throws up an armbar but Camacho slips out
immediately. Dober posts and scrambles to his feet in the final 10
seconds, only to be wobbled by Camacho's final right hand of the
round.

UFC on FOX 27 results: Vinc Pichel takes decision, hands Joaquim Silva first pro loss
Ninety seconds into the second, Silva landed a solid 1-2 combination that backed Pichel up. He followed it with a kick. And while Pichel never was far from the pocket, Silva’s patience seemed to make Pichel uncomfortable. Halfway through, Silva landed a right hand, and he tried a spinning back kick not long after that. Pichel tried to make things dirty to make him pay, but it wasn’t there. Pichel faked punches and got a low kick off with 90 seconds to go, but couldn’t put anything else behind it. Pichel landed a good combination with an uppercut late, then a solid leg kick for what may have been his best offense of the fight.

Two minutes in, Arnett got good position and took Sandhagen’s back. But he was too high, slipped off, and found himself on his back with Sandhagen on top to land elbows.
