Ovince St. Preux vs. Patrick Cummins slated for UFC on FOX 15

Having demolished Mauricio "Shogun" Rua in just 34 seconds this past November, St. Preux (17-6) rides into the contest with a newfound wave of momentum at his back. A product of the Strikeforce days, St. Preux stopped the former UFC champion with a salvo of early punches to push his UFC record to an impressive 5-1 mark, buoyed by additional first-round finishes over Nikita Krylov and Cody Donovan .

Dana White: Jon Jones-Anthony Johnson Title Bout Targeted for May UFC Card

Jon Jones could have two title defenses in the first half of 2015. | Photo: Wilson Fox/ Jon Jones ’ light heavyweight title defense against newly-minted No. 1 contender Anthony Johnson will likely take place at a UFC event in May. UFC President Dana White revealed the news during a Wednesday appearance on “The Jim Rome Show.” “We’re looking to do that fight in May,” said White. “I don’t have the exact date, but May.” Originally, a featherweight title showdown between reigning champ Jose Aldo and rising star Conor McGregor was expected to headline the promotion’s traditional Memorial Day Weekend event, but McGregor’s trainer, John Kavanagh , recently said that the fight could take place as late as July. That opens the door for Jones-Johnson to be the main event of the May 23 card, UFC 187 , in Las Vegas, although such a booking is far from official at this point in time. Johnson earned his opportunity with a first-round stoppage of Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on Fox 14 this past Saturday.

"IT'S TIME!" With Guest UFC fighter and commentator Brian Stann - Bruce Buffer

Bruce Buffer with another edition of “IT’S TIME!!!” On this episode UFC color commentator Brian Stann joined the show to talk about a variety of subjects including this past weekend’s UFC Stockholm event. Stann also shares his thoughts on this weekend’s NFL championship game, and the new film “American Sniper.” Bruce also welcomes in co-host TJ De Santis to discuss this weekend’s UFC 183 main event between Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz and how much money you would need to make to be apart of the “1 percent.”

McGregor draws comparison to Vincent van Gogh, says he's losing his mind

"If I lose I become the man that talked the talk but did not walk the walk. I go back to fighting in front of 100 people in GAA halls for €150. I've lost my mind doing this. Like Vincent van Gogh. He dedicated his life to his art and lost his mind in the process. That's happened to me. But fuck it. When that gold belt is around my waist and when my mother has a big mansion, when my girlfriend has a different car for every day of the week, when my kids have everything they ever want...then it will pay. Then I'll be happy I lost my mind. I'll die a crazy old man!"

UFC odds: Jon Jones opens as sizable betting favorite over Anthony Johnson

"Rumble" opened as the +330 underdog against "Bones" -- who opened as the -400 favorite -- but that line has already shifted in the short time it has been up, perhaps swayed by the number of folks in the mixed martial arts (MMA) community looking to get the challenger at the best possible price.

UFC 183: The Striking of Nick Diaz, All-American Fighter

You won't hear Nicholas Robert Diaz pretending that he's from some nice, cushy California suburb. In every post-fight interview, win or lose, he is bound to mention the mean streets of his home--not always with pride, but with a sort of frustrated sympathy. He resents the fact that no one seems to care for places like Stockton and, likewise, people like him. Like the city of his birth, Diaz is an easy target for derision, and yet many fight fans feel themselves drawn to him. There's an inexorable magnetism--an enigmatic charisma at the heart of Nick Diaz--that makes him the scowling center of his own fascinating world.

Germaine de Randamie vs. Larissa Pacheco slated for UFC 185 in Dallas

She now returns from a yearlong-plus layoff to fight 20-year-old Pacheco, the UFC’s youngest fighter. After opening her career with a 10-0 mark and 10 stoppages, Pacheco made her UFC debut and suffered a submission loss to Jessica Andrade in September.

New ingredient set to give caffeine a run for its money, supplier says

Titlow said the ingredient does not promote an anxious, jittery feel as caffeine can in some users.  The duration of action differs, too, and can be as much as six to eight hours with Teacrine.  Titlow also said that the data indicates that theacrine users do not become habituated to the ingredient as caffeine users do, so the dosage does not need to be increased over time to acheive the desired effect as is the case with caffeine.

Akbarh Arreola set to meet Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night 62 in Brazil

Brazil’s Trinaldo continues to alternate wins and losses in the UFC. In September, he took a unanimous decision from Leandro Silva to get back in the win column after a decision loss to Michael Chiesa this past May. In 2013, he put together his lone UFC win streak with back-to-back arm-triangle submissions of C.J. Keith and Mike Rio.

Fighter Diet News

Fighter Diet News, by Fighter Diet: Get Buff, Get Lean

Thiago Alves: A Prime Pitbull Stays Hungry

Thiago Alves could have had a bad case of déjà vu last July, as a knee injury took him out of an August matchup with Jordan Mein. It would have been understandable too, considering that he missed more than two years of fighting due to several injuries that required multiple surgeries. But this time around, the “Pitbull” shrugged it off and simply vowed to get healthy and get back to work. “I’m pretty good at putting the past behind me,” he said. “I let it be what it is and I don’t really focus on it or look backwards. I’m always looking ahead, and it wasn’t the time; that’s why it didn’t happen. But now, it’s go time, I’m ready, I’m better than before, and I’m excited to put on a show.” This Saturday, Alves gets his date with Canada’s Mein in a bout that will open up UFC 183’s main card in Las Vegas. It’s his second bout since the longest layoff of his career, and in the first, he proved that he had not missed a step in a Fight of the Night win over Seth Baczynski in April of last year.

Morning Report: Lorenzo Fertitta says CM Punk will face 'a competitive guy MMA media will know'

"We knew there was going to be backlash," Fertitta said. "At the end of the day, we did our research and we talked to the people he's trained with. We're going to find out what he can bring to the table. We're confident he has the skills to fight. We don't know exactly what level yet. Sometimes, you've got to invest in what we call 'fighter development.' We've done it before and guys have developed into very competitive fighters, and we've done it where guys have not."

Constitutional Cagefight: Zuffa takes New York to court to get the UFC in Madison Square Garden

Three years ago, Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, got sick of shoveling money into the open furnace that is Albany. Lobbying to change the New York State law banning mixed martial arts competitions — enacted in 1997, it's the only statutory ban on the sport in the entire country — had become an exercise in futility, achieving nothing other than putting cash in the hands of politicians who either couldn't or wouldn't do anything. So Zuffa engaged the services of a high-powered firm in midtown Manhattan, and filed a federal lawsuit against the State Attorney General over the law. If lobbying wasn't helping, the reasoning went, maybe the courts would.

The Gus-Rumble headbutt controversy examined from all angles and definitively answered

Before Anthony Johnson stopped Alexander Gustfasson with vicious ground and pound last Saturday, he rattled him with an overhand right. Now a video shows that he also hit him with a stunning headbutt.

Calderwood notes irony of Herrig/VanZant bout as she is shelved due to an experience disparity

Calderwood makes a valid point, however, if history has taught us anything, it's that the UFC rewrites the rules as they see fit, evidenced by last year's match-up between Patrick Cummins and Daniel Cormier . The ironic part about this situation is that UFC matchmaker, Sean Shelby has not given much hope to Calderwood regarding a bout for her, citing her unblemished 9-0 record as the reason for her being on the shelf, since commissions typically don't allow for a large disparity in fight experience. If one takes a look at Felice and Paige's records, Felice is the much more seasoned fighter with 6 years and 15 fights under her belt, whereas Paige has just 5 fights to her credit.

‘Shogun’ Rua’s manager suggests 195-pound catchweight fight with Michael Bisping

"‘Shogun’ cutting all the way down to 185 pounds without any tests would be complicated," he said. "He will be at the next TUF: Brazil, and then he will start his camp, so it might me complicated (to fight at 185 pounds), and maybe he will be forced to fight at 205 one more time. But if I could choose, it would be a 195-pound catchweight."

Dana White on Nick Diaz's disappearing act: ‘I did it to myself’

"I did it to myself again. I made a fight with Nick Diaz, a big main event fight. You know, when you get him in the office and you sit down, and he's like, ‘Well, you know, I feel like I haven't been paid right. Pay me right.' He's being paid right for this fight. It doesn't matter how much you pay him, he's not going to... I did it to myself, so I can't sit here and cry about Nick Diaz. It's Nick being Nick."

How's Taste My Tweet Tweet? Ninjas, Dragons, and Fighter Flirting Skills

Just to clarify because people seem to be misunderstanding my statement about "the 2 hot chicks" comment. I am not mad or upset at Paige for saying that, nor do I think she shouldn't market herself in anyway she feels comfortable. I obviously capitalize on things I feel comfortable doing and I 100% think she should seize those opportunities if that is what she likes/wants to do as well. I simply stated that when the cage door shuts, "looks have nothing to do with it". Furthermore if I am interviewed about our fight my looks or hers is probably not going to be a topic I bring up. Paige is a young fighter with a lot of energy and buzz which when matched up against me I think will make for one hell of an exciting fight. Im excited for this fight not because Paige is hot but because I just think its going to be an awesome fight. Im not naive to the fact that there are going to be fans that look at this fight for other reasons but I am confident that Paige and I are gonna bring a fight that will stand for more than just that."  -

Ovince St. Preux to Face Patrick Cummins at UFC on Fox 15 on April 18

Ovince St. Preux is coming off a win over an MMA legend. | Photo: Dave Mandel/ Ovince St. Preux will collide with Patrick Cummins in a light heavyweight bout at UFC on Fox 15 . Promotion officials announced the booking on Wednesday. UFC on Fox 15 takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., and is headlined by a middleweight showdown between Lyoto Machida and Luke Rockhold . The 31-year-old St. Preux is 5-1 in the Octagon, with his only loss coming to wrestler Ryan Bader via five-round decision this past August. The former University of Tennessee linebacker rebounded to score a signature victory on Nov. 8, knocking out Mauricio Rua in 34 seconds at UFC Fight Night in Uberlandia, Brazil. A former two-time All-American wrestler at Penn State University, Cummins has been on a roll since dropping his short-notice debut to Daniel Cormier at UFC 170. In his last three Octagon appearances, “Durkin” has bested Roger Narvaez , Kyle Kingsbury and Antonio Carlos Jr.

Shane Campbell - Mixed Martial Arts - Knucklepit

Shane Campbell has won matches via RNC and the guillotine choke, but more often through stand-up striking. From his back, Shane can unload nasty elbow-strikes and up-kicks.

Joe Lauzon: 'Once the fight hits the ground, it's over'

"It would have been nice to fight in Boston but it's also nice to step away from the fact, sit in a box super high up and have our own bathroom, and TV where we could watch the football game. The bathroom was a huge deal because when I'm at UFC events and in seats, it's impossible for me to get back to my seat if I go to the bathroom. I'll get out and there will be a line of a hundred people for autographs and photos, so I'm always sitting in my seat, trying to hold it so I don't have to miss the rest of the fights," he laughs.

Video: Behind scenes with 'Pitbull' Freire, Daniel Straus in 'Bellator 132: Uncut'

In the bloody headliner of Bellator 132 earlier this month, Patricio Freire (23-2 MMA, 11-2 BMMA) stopped Daniel Straus (22-6 MMA, 9-3 BMMA) late in the fourth round to defend his featherweight title.

Now he has arrived and there is no question about that. The focus will now turn to how he can beat the close to unbeatable Jones. It might take another year for that to happen, again depending on the champ’s personal issue, but January has been a month of meaning for Rumble so he has that going for him. Sooner the better though, for Johnson’s weight is over as far as speculation, he’s found his way to a shot at the top.

Been Diaz and confused for so long it’s not true…

Back in the day, after Nick Diaz was booted from his title shot against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 137 for missing a couple of media obligations, Dana White said he only wished the innocent heart of the 209 would play the game "just a little bit." Of course, Diaz doesn’t really like games. White figured that out at some point. Now White has learned how to deal with Diaz. Or, at least he says he has. With White, as with Diaz, who really knows. The only thing that can be taken for granted is that Diaz’s reputation as the dependably undependable anti-authoritarian shy guy hangs around longer than even the most stubborn metabolite. That continues all these years later as we head into UFC 183 for Saturday’s marquee bout with Anderson Silva . Diaz hasn’t fought since March 2013, but he’s still, perhaps more than ever, incredibly Diaz-like. His middle fingers are just as active now as they were when he was 24. So no, he didn’t make it for the open workouts at the MGM on Wednesday, which is usually just a little song and dance about nothing anyway. This time White stayed ahead of things by putting Diaz on a milk carton and openly wondering where his main event star was via his Twitter feed : #WhereIsNickDiaz ? The "Embedded" series that the UFC puts out during fight week took things further by showing a sad scene at the airport, in which a Southwest airplane -- bound for Vegas -- made a final boarding call for one Nick Diaz before closing its doors without him.

Dana White: Anthony Johnson 'beating Alexander Gustafsson the way he did makes no sense whatsoever’

"If you know anything about fighting, every time you move up, you lose a little bit of knockout power. It's been the exact opposite for this guy. Him beating Alexander Gustafsson the way he did makes no sense whatsoever. This is a guy (Gustafsson) who went five hard rounds with Jon ‘Bones'. Many people believe he won that fight, and many people believe Jones won the fight. For [Johnson] to come out and knock out the guys in the 205-pound division that he is, it's unbelievable and I am very excited for the fight with him and Jon Jones ."
