Ringing Paul Daley Uppercut KOs Andy Uhrich in Bellator 148 Main Event

Andy Uhrich had nothing to lose, except for consciousness. Former Cage Rage champion Paul Daley knocked out Urich with a crushing right uppercut in the Bellator 148 headliner on Friday at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Daley (38-13-2, 4-0 Bellator) drew the curtain 2:00 into round one. No follow-up punches were necessary. Once his bids for takedowns failed, Uhrich (11-6, 1-3 Bellator) was a sitting duck. Daley cornered the Titan Fighting Championships veteran against the cage, fired a straight right, a left hook and reset. The 32-year-old then closed the distance again, drew Uhrich’s hands out of place with a pawing left hook and connected with a crushing right uppercut for the knockout. In the welterweight co-main event, former Ring of Combat champion Paul Bradley cut down previously unbeaten Dethrone Base Camp prospect Chris Honeycutt with first-round punches. The end came 40 seconds into round three, with referee Mike Beltran rushing in to save Honeycutt (6-1, 2-1 Bellator) from further abuse. Related » Bellator 148 Round-by-Round Scoring Bradley (23-6, 3-1 Bellator) floored the Californian twice with clubbing right hands, pounced as Honeycutt turned to crawl away and let loose with a grisly burst of winging right hands to the side of the head that netted the stoppage.

Opinion: McGregor Promotions, Better Posters and Other Loud Statements

Editor's note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of Sherdog.com, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. McGregor Promotions may never exist, even though it’s as if we’re already living it every time Conor McGregor speaks into a microphone. It’s no wonder the UFC 196 press conference is still at MMA’s forefront after a full week. The McGregor Show dominates everything in its sphere. The Ultimate Fighting Championship has notoriously been anti-co-promotion since it sent Chuck Liddell to Japan, saw Quinton Jackson stop Liddell and then never hosted Pride Fighting Championships star Wanderlei Silva in return, as promised. Yet from within the UFC’s ranks, the “Notorious” Irishman seems to be forcing the UFC’s hand at co-promoting with him rather than the UFC promoting him like it does every other fighter in the company. It’s easy to read between the lines during McGregor’s shtick and see the specific strokes he paints with his brilliant verbal brush.

Sergey Kovalev Devours Jean Pascal in Dominating Fashion

.@KrusherKovalev rocks @JeanPascalChamp in Round 5 #KovalevPascal https://t.co/a2NDunv5Yt — HBOboxing (@HBOboxing) January 31, 2016 Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev didn’t hide his intentions. “The Krusher” wanted to “end” Jean Pascal ’s career and when a fighter with the kind of heavy hands like Kovalev utters things like that, people tend to listen and shudder at the possibilities. On Saturday night on HBO, from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Kovalev’s anger spilled over in a cold, calculating manner. He pounded Pascal through emotionless dark eyes, cornering him and then stepping back when he had him in trouble to punish him more. Then Kovalev clucked like a chicken mocking Adonis Stevenson and wore a smile as he continued to castigate Pascal as a “disrespectful person” who deserved to be chastened. Related » Kovalev vs. Pascal 2 Round-by-Round Scoring It’s exactly what Kovalev (29-0-1, 26 KOs) did, stopping Pascal (30-4-1, 17 KOs) after seven rounds, when Pascal’s new trainer, Hall of Famer Freddie Roach, mercifully ended it before his fighter suffered any more.

Ev Ting Guillotine Submits Eric Kelly in One Championship ‘Clash of Heroes’ Main Event

Ev Ting picked the perfect time to come through with perhaps the finest performance of his career. The New Zealand-based Malaysian lightweight submitted Eric Kelly with a third-round guillotine choke in the One Championship 38 “Clash of Heroes” headliner on Friday at Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kelly (12-2) conceded defeat 1:58 into round three, his run of three consecutive victories at an end. Ting (11-3) pushed a merciless pace. The 26-year-old Auckland MMA export committed to knees, both standing and on the ground, and methodically chipped away at Kelly’s resolve. Kelly saw a brief moment of hope come and go near the conclusion of round two, where he climbed to the back and set his hooks. However, Ting scrambled into top position, blasted him with a soccer kick and got busy with his ground-and-pound. Desperation forced Kelly into his last mistake in the third round. There, while trying for a takedown, he wandered into a high-elbow guillotine and was left with no choice but to tap. In the co-main event, Filipino standout Eduard Folayang captured a unanimous decision from Tetsuya Yamada in their three-round confrontation at 155 pounds.

The former bantamweight champion, who has been out of the limelight since her loss to Holly Holm at UFC 193, has been slowly making herself known again, much to the delight of her fans and the UFC. Rousey’s appearance on SNL drew a 5.0 in metered markets — the show itself averages 4.6 — and a 2.5 in the most important 18-49 age demographic, making it the top show of the night on broadcast networks, primetime or otherwise. Hacran Dias Says He’s Fighting Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 19

Hacran Dias will lock horns with Cub Swanson at UFC on Fox 19 , according to a post on Dias’ Twitter account. The Las Vegas-based promotion has yet to make any announcements regarding UFC on Fox 19, which is expected to take place in Tampa, Fla., on April 16. The card will reportedly feature a lightweight showdown between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov . Dias enters the matchup on a two-fight winning streak. The Brazilian outpointed Darren Elkins at UFC Fight Night “Machida vs. Dollaway” in December 2014 before earning a split verdict against Levan Makashvili this past June. The 31-year-old is 23-3-1 over the course of a career that began in 2005. A six-fight winning streak from January 2012 to June 2014 launched Swanson into the featherweight title discussion, but the California native has since dropped back-to-back contests, most recently falling to Max Holloway at UFC on Fox 15. Swanson owns notable wins over the likes of Jeremy Stephens , Dustin Poirier , Charles Oliveira and Ross Pearson .
