Breen: What Exactly is Jeff Novitzky’s Deal With Jon Jones?

It’s not weird that Jeff Novitzky would talk about Jon Jones. After all, Novitzky is the UFC’s vice president of athlete health and performance, and Jones is a disgraced legend and repeat drug test failure. What is weird, however, is the way Novitzky talks about Jones.

Ex-Invicta Champ Yana Kunitskaya to Face Sara McMann at UFC on Fox 28 in Orlando

Former Invicta FC bantamweight champ Yana Kunitskaya will make her Octagon debut against Sara McMann at UFC on Fox 28 . Both fighters confirmed the pairing via social media. UFC on Fox 28 takes place at the Amway Center in Orlando on Feb. 24 and will also include a middleweight clash between Yoel Romero and David Branch . The evening’s main card will air on the Fox Network, with prelims appearing on Fox Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass. Kunitskaya claimed the Invicta 135-pound title with a five-round verdict over Raquel Pa’aluhi on Aug. 31. That belt will likely be vacated with Kunitskaya’s departure to the UFC. The 28-year-old Russian owns a 10-3 career mark with one no contest, and seven of her victories have come via KO/TKO. McMann, meanwhile, saw a three-fight winning streak come to an end at UFC 215, as she was submitted in the second round by Ketlen Vieira . The former title challenger has compiled a 5-4 mark in the Octagon and is 11-4 as a professional overall. I am so exited to fight this strong girl @saramcmann in my @ufc debut.

John Dodson, Pedro Munhoz to Lock Horns at UFC Fight Night 125 in Brazil

John Dodson and Pedro Munhoz will square off at UFC Fight Night 125 . Promotion officials announced the bantamweight bout on Thursday. UFC Fight Night 125 takes place in Belem, Brazil, on Feb. 3 and is headlined by a middleweight tilt between Lyoto Machida and Eryk Anders . The card will air on Fox Sports 1 following early prelims on UFC Fight Pass. Dodson has lost two of his last three contests, but they were narrow split-decision defeats to Marlon Moraes and John Lineker . The two-time flyweight title challenger is 2-2 since moving up to 135 pounds, with victories over Eddie Wineland and Manny Gamburyan . Munhoz, meanwhile, has won his last four, including a first-round submission of Rob Font in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 119. Munhoz’s only losses in UFC competition have come to top 135-pound contenders Jimmie Rivera and Raphael Assuncao .

“(Retired UFC fighter) Mike Swick set it up for us to meet, and I met her. We hung out a couple days ago, and it was awesome,” White said. “She’s beautiful, and she’s the sweetest thing in the world, and her family are really nice, good people. Last night we went to the muay Thai fights together, and she sat with me. It was awesome. I want to have a relationship with her. I don’t want that to be the last time I ever see her.”

Donald Cerrone Addresses Recent Jackson-Wink Slump, Social Media Controversy

It has been a rough stretch recently for Jackson-Wink MMA, the renowned fight camp based in Albuquerque, N.M. Longtime staple Donald Cerrone hasn’t been immune to those troubles, as “Cowboy” will bring the first three-fight losing streak of his professional career into the UFC Fight Night 126 headliner against Yancy Medeiros on Feb. 18. As a whole, Jackson-Wink has struggled over the past few months, coming up short in a number of UFC bouts. It’s worth noting, however, that many of those defeats have come against top competition. That holds true for Cerrone, who has fallen to Darren Till , Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal in his last three outings. “It’s just wild,” Cerrone said on the UFC “Unfiltered” podcast . “I mean, s—t, it’s not a thing that’s the norm. When we step in there we’ve been a pretty successful squad, but lately we’ve had a bit of trouble. Look at me, I’m f—-ing three losses. The first I’ve had ever. It’s bulls—t, I don’t know what the f—k is going on.” UFC 219 was another rough outing for the camp, as Holly Holm came up short in a five-round verdict against Cristiane Justino in the main event, while Carlos Condit fell to Neil Magny in a featured bout following a 16-month hiatus.

Stipe Miocic Comfortable as Underdog at UFC 220, Not Intimidated by Francis Ngannou

According to oddsmakers, Stipe Miocic is a betting underdog heading into his heavyweight title defense against Francis Ngannou at UFC 220 .   That’s just fine with Miocic. After all, Ngannou, with his six-fight finishing streak in the Octagon – including four inside of a round – is being touted as the next big thing in the UFC. Never mind that Miocic is the one on the verge of setting a promotional record for championship defenses in the always-tenuous heavyweight division.   “I’m the underdog, what do you expect? That’s what the betting line says, right? I’m pretty much the underdog in a lot of my fights,” Miocic said at a recent press conference to promote UFC 220. “I don’t mind being the underdog because I like shutting people up. People start betting against me and they lose a lot of money.”   Ngannou’s most recent knockout of Alistair Overeem at UFC 218 was arguably his best to date. The 2017 “Knockout of the Year” candidate wound up on highlight reels everywhere and is Exhibit A as to why the Frenchman known as “The Predator” might currently be the most intimidating fighter on the promotion’s roster.

Daniel Cormier Claims He’s Not Interested in Heavyweight Return: ‘Do You See These Guys?’

Like most anyone with a pulse, Daniel Cormier is eager to see what transpires in the UFC 220 headliner between heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and challenger Francis Ngannou .   If all goes well on Jan. 20, Cormier will be able to observe the bout after he defends the light heavyweight crown against Volkan Oezdemir in the co-main event. While most of the hype is surrounding Ngannou, “DC” feels something of a kinship with Miocic. “The closest thing I relate to is when Anthony Johnson was just killing everybody, and everybody thought that he was gonna blast right though me,” Cormier said at a recent press conference to promote UFC 220.” I was kind of like, ‘It’s fine. I’ll be OK.’ I think that’s what Stipe Miocic is feeling right now. You’ve got a scary guy in Francis Ngannou , who hits as hard as anybody we’ve ever seen and you’ve got a guy on the cusp of becoming the greatest UFC champion of all time. “That’s what’s being missed in this. Stipe Miocic has won and defended this belt twice. If he wins again, he’s the most successful champion we’ve ever seen.

Robbie Lawler Suffered Torn ACL vs. Rafael dos Anjos, Expected to Undergo Surgery

Robbie Lawler could be looking at an extended layoff after suffering a torn ACL against Rafael dos Anjos in the UFC on Fox 26 headliner last month. UFC President Dana White mentioned the injury in an interview with Yahoo! Sports , and it has since been confirmed by . The former welterweight champion is expected to undergo surgery. "He blew his ACL, meniscus and every other thing that's in your knee out in like the third round," White said. "Wobbled over to the fence, laid against it and asked Dos Anjos to come in so they could just bang it out. Robbie Lawler went to the fifth round.” Lawler lost a unanimous decision verdict to dos Anjos on Dec. 16 at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. He did not mention the injury after the bout. “Ruthless” relinquished the welterweight strap in a first-round knockout loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201. He returned to the win column with a three-round verdict over Donald Cerrone at UFC 214 before falling to dos Anjos.

UFC Fight Night 126 Update: James Vick vs. Francisco Trinaldo Official for Austin

James Vick will get to compete in his home state when he faces Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night 126 . The promotion announced the lightweight matchup on Thursday. UFC Fight Night 126 takes place at the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 18 and is headlined by a welterweight bout between Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros . Vick has quietly won eight of his nine UFC appearances, including a second-round technical knockout of Joseph Duffy at UFC 217. “The Texecutioner is 12-1 as a professional overall, with eight victories coming inside the distance. Trinaldo has also won eight of his last nine in the Octagon, with his only defeat during that time coming against Kevin Lee . Most recently, “Massaranduba” outpointed veteran lightweight Jim Miller at UFC Fight Night 119.

UFC 220 extended preview: Francis Ngannou 'the scariest man in the history' of MMA?

“He was homeless just a few years ago,” Rogan says while discussing Ngannou’s quick rise in the sport. “Five years ago, he walks into an MMA gym, has virtually no traditional martial-arts training. Five years later, he’s the scariest man in the history of the sport.”

UFC in 2017: A ridiculously robust look at the stats, streaks, skids and record-setters

The most fights to go to a decision at a single event came at “UFC Fight Night 121: Werdum vs. Tybura” with 10, which tied UFC Fight Night 101, UFC Fight Night 84, UFC Fight Night 36 and UFC 169 for most at a single UFC show.

For Kevin Lee, dealing with Robert Follis' death has been 'tougher than people realize'

“It’s been very, very tough,” Lee told MMAjunkie Radio. “And I think it’s been tougher than people realize. Rob meant a little more to me than just a coach. A lot of people look at my confidence and think it was always just like that. He did have a large part to play in that.

Publicly, We Say #MeToo. Privately, We Have Misgivings.

I think this confusion reflects a deeper ambivalence about how we want and expect people to behave. Expressing sexual interest is inherently messy and, frankly, nonconsensual — one person, typically the man, bites the bullet by expressing interest in the other, typically the woman — whether it happens at work or at a bar. Some are now suggesting that come-ons need to be constricted to a repressive degree. Asking for oral consent before proceeding with a sexual advance seems both innately clumsy and retrograde, like going back to the childhood game of “Mother, May I?” We are witnessing the re-moralization of sex, not via the Judeo-Christian ethos but via a legalistic, corporate consensus.

Bellator 192's Michael Chandler: Goiti Yamauchi tougher than 'so-called fighter' Brent Primus

“You would literally fall on the floor and pass out if somebody told you that Michael Chandler pulled out of a fight or passed up a fight or turned down a fight,” Chandler told MMAjunkie Radio. “That’s not who I am; that’s not who I’ve ever been. Yet, the so-called fighter on the other side has had eight fights in the last eight years. He has consistently fought one time in the last eight years.
