Jan Błachowicz Chokes the Victory Out of Devin Clark (UFC Gdansk Fight Highlights) |

Check out highlights from Jan Blachowicz’s submission victory over Devin Clark at UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.

Matches to Make After UFC Fight Night ‘Cerrone vs. Till’

In what was by all accounts a star-making performance, Darren Till obliterated a dyed-in-the-wool action hero and staked his claim as a legitimate contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s welterweight division. The undefeated Englishman improved to 16-0-1 and wowed a crowd of 11,138, as he put away Donald Cerrone with punches in the first round of their UFC Fight Night 118 main event on Saturday at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. Cerrone wilted 4:20 into Round 1 of a fight that was never competitive, falling prey to one of the young lions at 170 pounds. Till walked down “Cowboy” with methodical purpose, setting the tone with a series of penetrating left hands. The finish was a thing of beauty. He buckled Cerrone’s knees with a sharp two-punch combination, backed him to the fence with a short elbow strike and then buried him with a ferocious punching volley that had the Jackson-Wink MMA star ducking for cover on all fours. Till joined Anthony Pettis , Rafael dos Anjos and Jorge Masvidal as the only men who have stopped Cerrone with strikes.

UFC Fight Night 118 Bonuses: Till, Blachowicz, Kelleher, Stasiak Receive $50K Awards

A rise to stardom certainly has its financial perks, as Darren Till learned following his first-round finish of Donald Cerrone in the UFC Fight Night 118 main event. Till received a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his work in Gdansk, Poland, on Saturday. The unbeaten Englishman put “Cowboy” on his heels with a two-punch combination, rocked him with a standing elbow and put him away with a flurry of unanswered strikes 4:20 into the opening stanza of the welterweight bout. Elsewhere, Polish light heavyweight Jan Blachowicz garnered the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” award for a submission of Devin Clark in a featured 205-pound affair. After being staggered by an overhand right from Clark in round one, Blachowicz recovered to secure a standing rear-naked choke 3:02 into the second round. It was just the 12th standing rear-naked choke finish in UFC history. Finally, Brian Kelleher and Damian Stasiak earned “Fight of the Night” honors and $50,000 apiece for their preliminary bantamweight scrap.

UFC Fight Night 118 results: Darren Till takes respect from Donald Cerrone, jaws with Mike Perry

By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 118

A new star may have been born on Saturday in Gdansk, Poland. By finishing Donald Cerrone 4:20 into the opening round of the UFC Fight Night 118 headliner, Darren Till announced himself as a serious player in the welterweight division. The confident Englishman had the popular “Cowboy” on his heels from the outset to earn the signature victory of his Octagon tenure. After the win, Till added to the intrigue surrounding his burgeoning career by calling out knockout artist Mike Perry . Till’s next steps in the Octagon will be interesting to follow, but for now, here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 118 “Cerrone vs. Till,” with statistics courtesy of 16-0-1: Career record for Till following his victory over Cerrone. The lone blemish on his record is a draw against Nicolas Dalby in his sophomore Octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 76. 3: Consecutive UFC defeats for Cerrone, who has also fallen to Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal during his current skid. The Jackson-Wink MMA staple had never lost two consecutive bouts in his professional career prior to 2017.

Conor McGregor Cageside as Andre Fili Topples Artem Lobov (UFC Gdansk Fight Highlights) |

Check out highlights from Andre Fili’s win over Artem Lobov, as Lobov’s teammate Conor McGregor got fired up at cageside at UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland.

Andre Fili: Seeing Conor McGregor ‘Talking S—t’ Cageside Got Me Hyped Up

Conor McGregor wasn’t hard to find during SBG Ireland teammate Artem Lobov ’s bout at UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday, but his presence might have actually been more beneficial to Lobov’s opponent. While McGregor paced back-and-forth around the Octagon yelling out instructions to his training partner, Andre Fili earned a unanimous verdict over Lobov in their featherweight bout. According to the Team Alpha Male product, McGregor only served to fuel his fire. “I feed off the kind of stuff that happened tonight. I saw Conor in the crowd and I got 10 times more excited. He was getting all hyped up, and I got even more hyped up. I feed off that. I love confrontation,” Fili said. “The only thing better than beating Artem right now is beating Artem and seeing McGregor right there talking s—t.” Coach @TheNotoriousMMA. #UFCGdansk — UFC (@ufc) October 21, 2017 Fili’s victory was highlighted by a head kick knockdown in the first frame and four takedowns in the third round, as he swept the scorecards by identical 30-27 counts despite a game effort from Lobov.

Till Doesn’t Expect Title Shot Yet, But Believes ‘In My Heart of Hearts I Will Be Champ’

Darren Till believes he is following the blueprint of the biggest UFC star of all. Till wasn’t the least bit surprised of the ease with which he dispatched Donald Cerrone in the UFC Fight Night 118 headliner in Gdansk, Poland, on Saturday. The undefeated Englishman rolled through his opponent, overwhelming the popular “Cowboy” just 4:20 into the opening stanza. It was by far the most significant victory of Till’s career, and it was also his most dominant. Till likened his signature triumph to Conor McGregor ’s 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194, a victory that earned “The Notorious” Irishman the featherweight crown. “Look at McGregor and Aldo — Aldo was ruling for so long and was so dominant and then a young, hungry, trash talking guy comes up and defeats him. You could say this is like that,” Till said. “And I’m not taking anything away from Cowboy but he’s been around for a long time and now this is my time. I expect to keep on going and to have a long career. It’s time to hand the baton over and I feel like I am that guy.

UFC Fight Night 118 Prelims: Marcin Held Nails Down First Octagon Victory on Home Soil

It took four tries, but Marcin Held has his first Ultimate Fighting Championship victory. Multiple takedowns, positional control and superiority in the scrambles carried the Polish grappler to a unanimous decision over Kings MMA ’s Nasrat Haqparast in the featured UFC Fight Night 118 “Cerrone vs. Till” prelim on Saturday at Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland. Held (23-7, 1-3 UFC) was awarded 30-27 scores by all three judges. A replacement for the injured Teemu Packalen , Haqparast (8-2, 0-1 UFC) more than held his own. The 22-year-old Rafael Cordeiro protégé wobbled Held with a clean left hand in the first round and withstood repeated submission attempts from the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt. However, Held spent the last half of the second round and much of the third operating from top position, threatening his counterpart’s legs and doing enough to procure favor on the scorecards. The setback snapped an eight-fight winning streak for Haqparast. Donald Cerrone congratulates Darren Till with classy Instagram post after TKO loss

Mateusz Gamrot-Norman Parke Lightweight Title Rematch Added to Oct. 22 KSW 40 in Dublin

Pudzianowski Beats Another UFC Vet, Gamrot-Parke 2 Ends in Ugly Debacle at KSW 40

It was not exactly Conor McGregor in Croke Park, but as is the promotion’s trademark, Poland’s Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki certainly brought sheer spectacle to Dublin’s 3Arena on Sunday with KSW 40 . Strongman legend and KSW's biggest draw, Mariusz Pudzianowski , in the main event prevailed in a surprisingly entertaining if freakish affair with Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight veteran Jay Silva , who stepped in on short notice for James McSweeney . Pudzianowski held on through harrowing situations in the final round to take a majority decision with scores of 29-28, 29-28 and 28-28. McSweeney was pulled from the headlining contest by the promotion after independent medical advisory council Safe MMA continued to list his medical status as pending through fight week. Fearing that the British kickboxer -- McSweeney retired late last year and has publicly spoken of suffering from seizures -- would not be cleared to fight, KSW replaced him with Silva, typically a robust middleweight who had fought five times previously for the company.

Opinion: One Man’s Loss is Another Man’s Luck

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. * * * It’s no secret the Ultimate Fighting Championship doesn’t exactly pull out all the stops for UFC Fight Night events, let alone those that take place in Poland. If you opted to skip UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday to spend your afternoon doing something else, I don’t blame you. Yet despite the general dearth of name value on display, by the end of the card, it felt like a new star had been born. Darren Till , an undefeated 24 year-old prospect, put on a clinic against longtime veteran and fan favorite Donald Cerrone in the main event. Till was dominant. He stuffed the first takedown with little effort, scrambled out of the second attempt with ease and then proceeded to land big shots without taking any real damage. He stalked Cerrone around the cage, and after a beautiful standing elbow and a barrage of hard left hands, the TKO was called with under a minute left in the first round.

UFC Fight Night 118 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

What weird experience… I had a great camp, cut weight (which was harder than the fight itself even though this cut felt easy) and was ready for a fight. Our game plan worked perfect from the start as I was light on my feet creating angles to then clinch up where I felt dominant. Every time we got into striking exchanges I felt even more dominant. In the second round Aspen timed a perfect takedown as I threw an uppercut and she had really good pressure as the world class grappler she is. When she mounted me I worked my escapes as she released pressure for strikes but she countered good. I then chose to roll to my knees to later roll back to my side as the referee stops the fight! The strikes where far from hard and during this whole scramble I hear the weirdest screams I’ve ever heard thinking “wow that’s annoying” and totally thought the referee stopped/paused the fight to tell her to stop screaming. Is that even allowed!? Did the crazy screaming affect the referee in any way!? Did he maybe think that I was the one screaming!? These questions actually don’t matter at all, just thoughts that I have.

Referee Marc Goddard explains why he told Conor McGregor to leave the cage side area |

“If Conor had stood up, stayed at his seat, then he could have shouted till his hearts content,” Goddard said. “That’s what he’s supposed to do. But what he simply cannot do, what he is not allowed to do, is approach the cage at any point and as I say act as the fourth corner. That’s unfair and unjust. Anyone who knows me will tell you I’ve done this forever, in any country in any situation. My integrity is not wavered and neither is the rules. We can’t allow that. I simply had to act.”

Nelson, Lashley, Mitrione, Mir, Fedor, Minakov? What's up with Bellator's heavyweight title?

“Minakov is not our champion anymore,” Coker said. “Minakov, as far as I’m concerned, is a fighter that’s under contract for Bellator, but to me, it’s almost irrelevant at this point because we have so many great heavyweight fights now, that when we put this heavyweight title fight together it’s going to be something really special.”

Trading Shots: What does it tell us when former UFC fighters struggle in Bellator?

Having good fights isn’t enough. What that extra piece of the puzzle is, I don’t know. I do know that there are only so many hours in a day, so many articles a website can write, and so much time an MMA fan can commit. Maybe fans will start to commit more of that time to Bellator. But maybe they’ll find something else to do. If they do that, it won’t just be bad for Coker – it’ll be bad for everyone.
