We’re edging closer and closer to the return of Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217, who’ll be challenging Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. The stakes are gigantic. "Light heavyweight" Darren Till says he shouldn't legally be allowed to fight welterweights |

Darren Till is a big, big welterweight. That’s been amply evident every time the British striking specialist has stepped into the cage. His Saturday afternoon execution of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, who he seemed to cast a shadow over in the cage, was certainly no exception to the rule. While it has long been evident that...

According to a report from TMZ , Bisping is being sued by one Antonio Georgakopoulos. Georgakopoulos claims that, after taking weights that Bisping was still using, Bisping lost his temper, and called him a “little punk” and an “idiot.” From there, Georgakopoulos alleges that Bisping grabbed his throat, and that he would have lost consciousness were it not for the intervention of other gym-goers. Georgakopoulos claims that Bisping then challenged him to “take this outside”…

Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings - Till Just Teasing a Ten Spot

Just because your breakthrough win fails to break you into the top 10 does not mean you cannot have a real rankings impact. Undefeated 24-year-old Darren Till earned the biggest win of his career at UFC Fight Night 118 on Oct. 21 in Gdansk, Poland, where he broke perennial standout Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone ’s nose and stopped him in the first round. However, in the latest divisional rankings, Till’s sensational win was not enough for him to nab the No. 10 spot at 170 pounds over incumbent Kamaru Usman , who has gone 6-0 inside the Octagon. Nonetheless, the 16-0-1 loose-lipped Liverpudlian lands on our contenders list, while Cerrone’s third straight loss sees him exit the top-15 stage. UFC Fight Night 118 also saw another undefeated prospect join a respective bubble list, as 22-year-old Aspen Ladd pounded out Sweden’s Lina Lansberg in the second round, taking her spot among the women’s 135-pound contenders. Ladd is not the foremost blue chipper on the rise in this rankings update, however. That honor belongs to Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki flyweight champion Ariane Lipski .

Lyoto Machida: 5 Defining Moments

When paired with advancing again and deteriorating performance, an 18-month United States Anti-Doping Agency suspension seemed like a legitimate threat to end the outstanding career of Lyoto Machida . At the very least, it made him a forgotten man in the Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s middleweight division. “The Dragon” will return to the cage for the first time in more than two years when he confronts Derek Brunson in the UFC Fight Night 119 main event this Saturday at Geraldo Jose de Almeida Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Machida steps back into the Octagon on a two-fight losing streak, having been savaged in consecutive bouts with Luke Rockhold and Yoel Romero . Wins over reigning Bellator MMA light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader , onetime two-division Pride Fighting Championships titleholder Dan Henderson and former Dream , Strikeforce and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titlist Gegard Mousasi anchor the 39-year-old Brazilian karateka’s resume, but he has gone a disappointing 6-7 since starting his career 16-0. Machida last visited the winner’s circle in December 2014, when he stopped C.

5 Things You Might Not Know About Colby Covington

Colby Covington has long been seen as a high-ceiling prospect. He might soon now just how far his talents can take him in the Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s welterweight division. The once-beaten American Top Team welterweight will toe the line against 2007 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist Demian Maia in the UFC Fight Night 119 co-main event this Saturday at the Geraldo Jose de Almeida Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil. A win there could put Covington in position as a legitimate title contender at 170 pounds. The 28-year-old Clovis, California, native will enter the cage on a four-fight winning streak that has seen him defeat Jonathan Meunier , Max Griffin , Bryan Barberena and Dong Hyun Kim in succession. Covington last competed at UFC Fight Night 111 on June 17, when he took a three-round unanimous decision from Kim in Kallang, Singapore. As he prepares for his pivotal clash Maia, here are five things you might not know about Covington: 1. He was an accomplished amateur wrestler. Covington won a National Junior College Athletic Association championship at Iowa Central Community College, where he went 34-0 as a freshman and roomed with two-time UFC light heavyweight titleholder Jon Jones .

Alexander Shlemenko to appeal Bellator 185 loss to Gegard Mousasi, manager says

Mousasi earned unanimous scores of 29-28 in the Spike-televised fight at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. The former Strikeforce champ and top UFC middleweight contender frequently took down Shlemenko and threatened chokes from back control despite a broken orbital bone to his left eye. The decision was widely booed by the crowd.

Marc Diakiese-Daniel Hooker Lightweight Affair Joins UFC 219 Undercard on Dec. 30

No, it's not that lightweight fight, but UFC 219 has got a 155-pound contest on the card. While the Ultimate Fighting Championship remains hopeful of announcing a lightweight title unifying bout between champion Conor McGregor and interim beltholder Tony Ferguson for the card, in the interim, the promotion has added a bout between Marc Diakiese and Dan Hooker to the UFC 219 undercard. was first to report the news on Monday evening. UFC 219 is scheduled for Dec. 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The promotion has yet to announce a main event for the 2017-capping card. Diakiese, 24, is looking to regain his hype as an elite prospect after taking the first loss of his pro career this past July, dropping a split decision to undefeated Drakkar Klose at “The Ultimate Fighter 25” Finale. Prior to the defeat, “Bonecrusher” had gone 12-0 in his pro career, winning and defending the British Association of MMA lightweight title, then acing his first three UFC bouts. New Zealand's Hooker has gone 4-3 in the Octagon, alternating wins and losses since his June 2014 UFC debut.

Ratings Drop Continues as Bellator 185 Draws a 2017 Near-Worst 476K Live on Spike

Recent Bellator MMA free agent acquisition Gegard Mousasi was able to escape with a win in his promotional debut at Bellator 185 , but it wasn't enough to avoid another lackluster and down-trending television rating for the company. According to Nielsen Media Research, the Oct. 20 airing of Bellator 185 on Spike drew a live and same-day (Live + SD) average of 476,000 viewers last Friday night. The two-hour, 35-minute broadcast from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., was headlined by the aforementioned Mousasi's contentious unanimous verdict over former Bellator middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko in which “The Dreamcatcher” sustained a broken right orbital bone. The 476,000 Live + SD average is the third worst number for the promotion through 16 Spike broadcasts this year, just besting only Bellator 176 in April, headlined by a middleweight title rematch between Rafael Carvalho and Melvin Manhoef on tape delay from Torino, Italy, and its immediate predecessor, Bellator 184 on Oct. 6 from Thackville, Okla.

Opinion: One Man’s Loss is Another Man’s Luck

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. * * * It’s no secret the Ultimate Fighting Championship doesn’t exactly pull out all the stops for UFC Fight Night events, let alone those that take place in Poland. If you opted to skip UFC Fight Night 118 on Saturday to spend your afternoon doing something else, I don’t blame you. Yet despite the general dearth of name value on display, by the end of the card, it felt like a new star had been born. Darren Till , an undefeated 24 year-old prospect, put on a clinic against longtime veteran and fan favorite Donald Cerrone in the main event. Till was dominant. He stuffed the first takedown with little effort, scrambled out of the second attempt with ease and then proceeded to land big shots without taking any real damage. He stalked Cerrone around the cage, and after a beautiful standing elbow and a barrage of hard left hands, the TKO was called with under a minute left in the first round.

Film review: 'Conor McGregor: Notorious' is a fascinating fly-on-the-wall documentary

Another amazing moment captured on film is McGregor being paid a visit by none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger. The interaction between the two is fun and although it’s just a few moments, the biggest takeaway is when McGregor and Devlin show the “The Austrian Oak” out and as they shut the door, there’s a real moment of innocence as they both look at each other, smiling and laughing, gobsmacked that one of the biggest stars in Hollywood took time out of his schedule to pay them a visit. Instances like this captured throughout the film are real high points providing a good balance of showcasing McGregor the fighter versus the everyday guy thrust into the A-list world – that despite the money, fame and everything that comes with celebratory status, McGregor thoroughly enjoyed the journey, even if he had to pinch himself from time to time.

Gerald Harris' retirement fight ended with a bang (and a break)

The crazy thing is that this is the second straight fight Harris finished with a slam. He had one of the 2016 knockouts of the year when he knocked out Aaron Cobb last December by damn near plowing him straight through the canvas.

Cody Garbrandt Reveals How Beating Up TJ Dillashaw Made Him Realize He'd Become UFC Champion |

“I’m better than him everywhere and I guarantee it — he doesn’t have a strong chin,” Garbrandt said about Dillashaw. “He will not be able to take a strike, a blow from me with four-ounce gloves on. He wasn’t able to do it with a 16-ounce glove and he won’t be able to do it in a four-ounce glove. So if TJ makes it all five rounds, goes the distance, that’s a win for him.

Takanori Gomi Hints at Return to Japan for New Year's Eve Fight via Instagram

They say you can't go home again but that appears to be what Japanese MMA legend Takanori Gomi is trying to do. Monday, the all-time lightweight great posted a message to his Instagram account, suggesting that he was angling to return to his native Japan for a fight on New Year's Eve. “Return to the Japanese ring soon #NewYearsEve,” Gomi wrote in Japanese . そろそろ日本のリングに戻ろ#大晦日 A post shared by 五味隆典 (@takanorigomi) on Oct 23, 2017 at 1:09am PDT Gomi last fought at UFC Fight Night 117 on Sept. 23 in Saitama, Japan, a day after his 39th birthday, where was knocked out in 90 seconds by South Korea's Dong Hyun “Maestro” Kim . An Ultimate Fighting Championship source confirmed to Monday that the Kim bout was the last on Gomi's contract. The loss to Kim was Gomi's fifth straight first-round stoppage loss inside the Octagon, four of which have come by way of knockout. Prior to his September 2014 loss to Myles Jury to begin that losing skid, “The Fireball Kid” had never been finished via strikes in his 16-year, 45-fight career.

By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 118

A new star may have been born on Saturday in Gdansk, Poland. By finishing Donald Cerrone 4:20 into the opening round of the UFC Fight Night 118 headliner, Darren Till announced himself as a serious player in the welterweight division. The confident Englishman had the popular “Cowboy” on his heels from the outset to earn the signature victory of his Octagon tenure. After the win, Till added to the intrigue surrounding his burgeoning career by calling out knockout artist Mike Perry . Till’s next steps in the Octagon will be interesting to follow, but for now, here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 118 “Cerrone vs. Till,” with statistics courtesy of 16-0-1: Career record for Till following his victory over Cerrone. The lone blemish on his record is a draw against Nicolas Dalby in his sophomore Octagon appearance at UFC Fight Night 76. 3: Consecutive UFC defeats for Cerrone, who has also fallen to Robbie Lawler and Jorge Masvidal during his current skid. The Jackson-Wink MMA staple had never lost two consecutive bouts in his professional career prior to 2017.

Pudzianowski Beats Another UFC Vet, Gamrot-Parke 2 Ends in Ugly Debacle at KSW 40

It was not exactly Conor McGregor in Croke Park, but as is the promotion’s trademark, Poland’s Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki certainly brought sheer spectacle to Dublin’s 3Arena on Sunday with KSW 40 . Strongman legend and KSW's biggest draw, Mariusz Pudzianowski , in the main event prevailed in a surprisingly entertaining if freakish affair with Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight veteran Jay Silva , who stepped in on short notice for James McSweeney . Pudzianowski held on through harrowing situations in the final round to take a majority decision with scores of 29-28, 29-28 and 28-28. McSweeney was pulled from the headlining contest by the promotion after independent medical advisory council Safe MMA continued to list his medical status as pending through fight week. Fearing that the British kickboxer -- McSweeney retired late last year and has publicly spoken of suffering from seizures -- would not be cleared to fight, KSW replaced him with Silva, typically a robust middleweight who had fought five times previously for the company.
