[Video] Friday Fight: Nelson vs Johnson - Fighters Only

Undefeated Icelandic fighter Gunnar Nelson has looked impressive thus far in his run in the UFC's 170lb division. With an overall pro MMA record of 13-0-1 (4-0 in the UFC), he is now scheduled to take on Rick Story in the main event of UFC Fight Night 53 in Stockholm, Sweden this weekend.

UFC Fight Night: Nelson vs. Story staff picks and predictions

Zane Simon : I'll admit, I'm not nearly as high on Gunnar Nelson as everyone else in the hipster-fight-fan community seems to be. I mean, he's an absolutely dynamite grappler with really decent wrestling. But his striking is just so... meh. That said, I'm not utterly convinced that Story can keep and win a fight on his feet for three rounds. He's become a much more savvy vet in recent outings and looks to be fighting to his strengths much more, but it feels like the clinch and the takedown are just too big a part of his game for him to not end up on the ground against Nelson. Gunnar Nelson by Submission, Round 3.

Timothy Bradley Set to Fight Diego Chaves on Dec. 13 in Las Vegas

Timothy Bradley and Diego Chaves will square off in a scheduled 12-round welterweight fight Dec. 13 at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas. Top Rank promotor Bob Arum confirmed the bout with ESPN.com on Friday. The fight will be televised by HBO and will anchor a card billed as a triple-header. The other two fights remain unknown at this time. Bradley and Chaves are both coming off loss in their last outing. Bradley (31-1, 12 KOs) dropped a decision and his welterweight strap to Manny Pacquiao in their April 12 rematch of his hugely controversial split-decision victory over “Pac-Man” in June. "I'm excited to get back into the ring and showcase myself," Bradley told ESPN.com. "Chaves is not that well known but the boxing fans know him. The boxing fans know that this guy can fight and that it won't be a walk in the park for me. I think it's going to be a great fight. I can't wait." Chaves (23-2, 19 KOs), was defeated by Brandon Rios via controversial disqualification. Vic Drakulich, the referee working the fight, called a stop to the proceedings after Chaves threw an elbow.

Dana White suggests Conor McGregor likely to get next featherweight title shot

"So Lorenzo (Fertitta) and I went to dinner with him last night, and he said he wants to fight Diego Sanchez in Mexico at 155. I said, ‘You're nuts. No way, we'll get you a fight. You'll be fighting soon enough.' The kid just wants to fight," he said. "He said him and Diego have been talking back and forth for a while and he wanted to fight him. We basically told him no and he went out and put that on Twitter anyway."

FD Fat Loss By Mind Power (Athlete)

"Hi Pauline & Fighter Diet As an IFBB Professional Figure Athlete, it goes without saying that getting and staying lean is my job.  My livelihood depends on my physical condition and maintaining a low body fat.  I am, however,  a normal person just like everyone else that battles with overcoming my desire to eat poorly.  I am also interested in finding out how other people are successful with obtaining and maintaining a fit physique.  I personally struggle with the mental obstacles that come into play while dieting just like everyone else.  I had some interaction with Pauline Nordin via email and I asked her how she overcomes her own personal obstacles to maintain her year round lean physique.  She sent me over a copy of her Ebook: Fat Loss By Mind Power. I was very excited!  I

I am so excited for the work Pauline does on my behalf. I have purchased several e-books to spark muscle growth and tips or tricks to do things differently for effectiveness. This app goes great with the books I've purchased. The major plus is that I can see execution in a video rather looking at the pictures in my books. I absolutely love having the meals written out like they are. The fee to unlock the locked information will be worth it to me. I can not wait for better progress to come. So far, after two weeks my back and delts are happy and showing results. Two of my hardest body parts to deem results. I love my Back Attack and Delts 2 Die 4. Now to properly implement cardio and get ready to hit that stage in 2015. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the competition e-book. Now when a movement is questionable, this will be like having you there for correction.

Cop Who Oversaw The Torture Of 118 Black Men Freed After Less Than 4 Years In Jail

After the 66-year-old was convicted in 2011 of perjury and obstruction of justice for lying about police torture, several members of the Chicago City Council called for a reparations fund of $20 million -- roughly the amount Burge and his "midnight crew" of detectives have cost Chicago taxpayers over the years in legal defense fees and settlements alone. Aldermen renewed those calls on Thursday , saying it's time for the city to "make amends."

Ebola is a deadly virus that causes bleeding both inside and outside of the body. As it spreads, it damages the immune system and organs, ultimately causing levels of blood-clotting cells to drop. Lorenzo Fertitta: 'We will randomly test all 500 of our athletes multiple times per year'

"Now the next step for us, and what we're working on, is a complete project where we will randomly test all 500 of our athletes multiple times per year. We're working on that. It's going to be a comprehensive plan. And you know what? At the end of the day, if you're cheating, we will catch you. You will get suspended, possibly fined, and we take it very serious. Bellator 127 Results: Play-by-Play & Updates

Sergio Rios vs. Saad Awad Round 1 After 45 seconds, Rios throws a wild head kick, misses and falls to his back. Awad simply stares at him until the Brazilian climbs back to his feet. Awad lands a decent front kick, slips backward and is tagged by a stinging right hand. Awad is hurt and crumbles to his back, and Rios is all over him. Awad recovers and lands in Rios’ open guard. Awad slams several thunderous right hands onto Rio’s face, forcing a scramble. Rios is back on his feet and regroups. The two lightweights swing wildly with everything they have, but neither lands the crippling bomb they seek. Awad connects with a right hand, sending Rios down, but “Pichilinga” springs back up. They swing for the fences again, landing nothing. Awad lands two right hands, but Rios takes them both well. Rios lands a push kick after taking a leg kick. Awad unloads a massive right hand dead on the jaw, sending Rios down. The Brazilian tries to pull guard but Saad is all over him with hammer fists. Time expires, saving Rios from an almost certain stoppage. 10-9 Awad. Round 2 (+ Enlarge) | Photo: D.

UFC re-signs WSOF welterweight Josh Burkman

MMA contracts can be odd things. Just last month MMAJunkie reported , that Josh Burkman had signed a three fight contract extension with WSOF. That extension was actually signed back in July, but only came to light in Burkman's interview with MMAJunkie. In that interview, Burkman made it clear that his long term goals were still a return to the UFC. But his expectation appears to have been that, after completing his contract extension, he'd be in a great place to lobby for a big money contract on the open market, one that WSOF couldn't match. Whether that came sooner than expected, or whether other factors are at play, today, Dana White announced, via Twitter, that Josh Burkman has returned to the UFC.

Live chat with MMA heavyweight fighter Josh Barnett

Barnett was a rising star after only four fights with the promotion and he was given the opportunity to fight Hall of Famer Randy Couture for the world heavyweight championship at UFC 36 in 2002. Barnett won by TKO to become the youngest UFC champion in history, however, he was later stripped of the title due to a positive test for a banned substance.

UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Saffiedine - Idiot's Guide and Preview to the FS1 and Fight Pass Prelims

Munhoz vs. Sanders is the second most one sided fight on the card in my opinion. Munhoz is a solid grappler with some slick striking whereas Sanders is a little more restricted to being a wrestler. Sanders isn't one dimensional, but he might as well wear that tag in this day and age where you need to be multidimensional well enough to be mistaken for a specialist, and Sanders is not that guy. At 34 years of age (don't worry: I feel incredibly old pointing out fighter ages as a negative too), don't expect this to change just because he's dropping down in weight.

Bellator 127's Kendall Grove has message for fans who talk trash about why he's still fighting

“Who knows what will happen to me? Maybe I’ll win and move forward or maybe I’ll lose and Bellator will cut me,” he said. “No matter what happens, my family and my kids will always be there and always love me. My family comes first. It’s their love and support that motivates me to do big things. So I can’t waste this time when I’m away from them to train. It motivates me even more. Sure, it puts a little pressure on me that I’m fighting to take care of them, but what fighter doesn’t feel any pressure? What father doesn’t feel any pressure to provide for his family the best that he can?

Bryan Caraway says Manny Gamburyan calling him out 'makes him look desperate'

Gamburyan is probably just being smart, taking a page out of Rousey's trash-talking playbook. A fight between the two wouldn't make much sense for the UFC, though. Caraway could be one or two wins away from a shot at the bantamweight title if he beats Assuncao, who is ranked No. 4. Gamburyan was actually losing that fight to Gibson before pulling off a guillotine in the third round.

Former WSOF title challenger Josh Burkman signs new deal with UFC

“I’ve put those issues (with WSOF) behind me, and I know I’m on board,” Burkman told MMAjunkie in early September. “If I wasn’t happy with World Series of Fighting and the direction they’re going, I wouldn’t have signed this new three-fight deal. I know we’re going to do great things with World Series of fighting. I want the belt, and I’ll put all the previous issues behind me.”

After Nearly 6-Year Absence, Welterweight Josh Burkman Rejoins UFC Roster

Josh Burkman is headed back to the UFC. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Former World Series of Fighting welterweight title contender Josh Burkman has signed with the UFC . UFC President Dana White announced the news on Friday. Shortly thereafter, White revealed that Burkman will face Hector Lombard at UFC 182 . Burkman last appeared in the Octagon on Oct. 25, 2008, when he lost a unanimous decision to Pete Sell at UFC 90. On Sept. 2, WSOF revealed that it had signed “The People’s Warrior” to a three-fight contract extension , but apparently Burkman was granted his release from that deal. Burkman, 33, has posted a 9-2 mark outside of the UFC, including a 4-1 stint with WSOF. His most memorable victory with the Ray Sefo -led promotion likely came at WSOF 3, when he submitted fellow UFC veteran Jon Fitch in 41 seconds. The Utah native came up short in his bid for WSOF gold, tapping to a triangle choke from Steve Carl at WSOF 6 last October. The Pit Elevated Fight Team rose to prominence as a contestant on Season 2 of “The Ultimate Fighter.

Battlegrounds MMA 5: One Night Elimination Preview

Months back, the MMA community got wind of something pretty darn cool: there was a fledgling promotion, Battlegrounds MMA, who were planning to put on a one-night tournament, hearkening back to the old, pre-Zuffa UFC and Pride days. Eight welterweights, randomly paired up the night of the event, all competing for a $50,000 pot, with the action live on Pay-per-View.
