Desmond Green Delivers 46-Second Stoppage on Miguel Torres in Titan FC 31 Headliner

Desmond Green destroyed former bantamweight king Miguel Torres at Titan FC 31. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Desmond Green made his intentions known in Titan Fighting Championship . The man wants some gold. The 25-year-old Tristar Gym representative knocked out former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Miguel Torres with a knee strike, right uppercut and follow-up hammerfists in the Titan FC 31 main event on Friday at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla. Green (13-3) brought it to a decisive close 46 seconds into round one, as he improved to 4-1 in his past five appearances. Backed up to the fence, Torres (43-8) ducked for cover. In his haste, he put himself in harm’s way, ran into a knee from Green, ate a right uppercut and fell to the canvas in a dazed state. “The Predator” pounced with opportunistic hammerfists that left Torres unconscious. The Carlson Gracie protégé had never before been finished so quickly. Green’s performance helped those in attendance forget about the original headliner -- a five-round lightweight title fight that was cancelled when champion Mike Ricci failed to make weight and challenger Yoshiyuki Yoshida subsequently withdrew.

Best UFC Halloween Costumes... Cain Velasquez is Such a Baby! | MMAWeekly.com

Just here for the obligatory, “Cain’s as fragile as a baby”. Wish UFC could just jab the soft-spot, good and firm and put the baby outta his and our misery. Behind the woodshed or on Fight Pass, either way it would only further the Heavyweight division more than Cain ever will.

Invicta champ Barb Honchak flies the flag for Miletich's next generation

"We're keeping all our options open," Honchak said. "Whether that's staying here or going to the UFC, and whether that's a change in weight class one way or the other. I'm realistic, I know the UFC probably isn't about to add a women's flyweight division any time soon. I'm happy, but at the same time you can only fight for so long and you have to make the most of things. Like I said, all options are open."

Weighing the Options of Chad Mendes | FIGHTLAND

So maybe, he’d be better suited to follow the strategy of his teammate, Urijah Faber, whose UFC title hopes are ghosts so long as TJ Dillashaw (his teammate), Dominick Cruz (whom he’s lost to once), or Renan Barao (whom he’s lost to twice) owns the strap. What strategy is that? To temporarily forget the title and take fights often, against whomever, and win, hoping that one day, none of the three aforementioned men sit on the throne. For Faber, that’s meant matchups with Ivan Menjivar, Iuri Alcantara, Alex Caceres, and now, Francisco Rivera. It’s also meant frequent paychecks. For Mendes, that would mean fights with fighters like Hacran Dias, Cole Miller and Charles Oliveira. It’ll also mean frequent paydays. And for Chad Mendes, there’s no doubt that money talks.

Lioness Hunts Down a Buck with a GoPro strapped to her back - MyCityByNight

This is really some amazing footage, made possible by strapping a GoPro to a lioness’ back while she was on the hunt for prey. The clip was shot right here in South Africa and is part of an effort to conserve lions, keeping them in their natural habitats and protected so that they don’t get hunted to the extent that our Rhinos have been. It’s great that all of this wildlife is right around the corner in our beautiful country and we really need to do everything that we can to preserve it.

Bourdain: Iran different from what I could have imagined

We'd been told to expect that. But you get thrown by it when you face it everywhere. Our producer – it was his birthday and we all went out with our local crew to a very crowded restaurant. Traditional Persian music and Iranian families eating. And someone found out that my producer, it was his birthday. The entire restaurant sang "Happy Birthday" to him and presented him with a cake. It was a very different Iran than I had been led to expect or could have imagined.

Once unworthy of a UFC video game spot, Dillashaw's life has changed in a hurry

“That’s exactly what I was doing, was talking myself into it,” Dillashaw said. “Me and my cornermen, we’d just found out, I was still in my plastics, sweating off the last few ounces, and that’s when I got the call and got all pissed off. The first thing I thought when I got the call was, ‘I shouldn’t be fighting Joe Soto. That wasn’t the plan. This is crap.’ But then it came down to, hey, I’m a fighter and this is what I do. I had to talk myself into it. I told myself, this is the path I’m on, what I need to do to prove to people what kind of fighter I am, and it worked. I talked myself into where I needed to be.”

Bellator 131 card complete for San Diego with seven prelims

Perez is a WEC and Strikeforce veteran. At WEC 38, he was knocked out by current UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo in the first round. HE then was submitted by Seth Dikun at WEC 41. In April 2011, he won his lone Strikeforce fight, topping Edgar Cardenas. But when he steps into the Bellator cage, it’ll be the Alliance MMA product’s first fight since June 2011. Vorgeas has been out a while, too, going without a fight for more than two years. The Californian does have four submissions in his five victories, though.

Ray Retains Lightweight Crown, Enlund Claims Vacant Featherweight Belt at CWFC 73

Alex Enlund captured CWFC featherweight gold on Saturday. | Photo: Mick Bower When Steven Ray last squared off with Curt Warburton in June, he needed the full five rounds to eke out a split-decision triumph. His victory on Saturday was much more decisive. Ray retained his lightweight title with a second-round submission of Warburton in the Cage Warriors Fighting Championship 73 headliner at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. Ray tapped his rival with a rear-naked choke 2:00 into round two, giving him the nod in his trilogy with Warburton and capping off a double main card for the Europe-based promotion. Warburton took a three-round verdict over Ray in their first meeting at BAMMA 12 in March 2013. The third bout between the two lightweights began in competitive fashion, as they spent much of the first round jockeying for an advantage in the clinch and from the 50-50 guard. Ray seized momentum in the second period when he sent Warburton tumbling to the canvas with a straight left. With Ray in full finishing mode, Warburton scrambled for a kneebar in an attempt to buy himself some time to recover.

Georges St-Pierre Believes Nick Diaz has to Take Anderson Silva into Later Rounds to Win | MMAWeekly.com

Won’t be an issue if his nose is bleeding, had you said eyebrow or forehead, then yes that would be troublesome, but from the nose?!? Diaz’s cardio is too top notch for a bleeding nose, even it it’s pissing blood to slow him down. GSP is absolutely right, Diaz has to fight smart fr the first two rounds, but also make Silva use up energy, preferably not by getting his face punched in, I’m not sold that Silva will have those laser like kicks, b/c if Diaz decides to check them, Silva will very quickly stop throwing leg kicks. It’s a fact, I don’t care who it is in there, you break your leg as severely as Silva did, he’s not going to be 100% mentaly when it comes to leg kicks, well… not with the velocity he used to throw them. I wouldn’t be surprised if Silva doesn’t even throw a leg kick, or keeps it under a dozen the entire fight. I expect Silva to DESTROY Diaz for many reasons, but especially b/c…. Diaz will have been out of the Octagon for almost 2 years (since his last fight) & Ring Rust will be a factor, Silva has more power, strength, speed, accuracy & reach advantage, let alone figthing Silva at his weight division.

Cage Warriors 73 results: Alex Enlund nips Nad Narimani to win 145 title

Mann outworks Benkaci, but may have broken hand Ronnie Mann seemed frequently frustrated in his fight against Frenchman Moktar Benkaci , but in the end his patience paid off. Mann (24-7-1) took a unanimous decision from Benkaci (11-5). It took 12 minutes for Mann to go for a takedown, but Benkaci kept things on the feet. Mann’s win came courtesy of staying busy and having a slightly higher work rate than his opponent, who didn’t seem to open up until there were two minutes left in the fight. Benkaci landed a few solid punches in the late exchange, but it was too little, too late. After the fight, Mann grimaced as he flexed his right hand – perhaps an indication he had broken it during the fight.

Women's MMA Report: Rousey-Zingano moved to UFC 184, Invicta FC 9 set for tonight

UFC officials announced the date change earlier this week. Rousey (10-0 MMA, 4-0 UFC) and Zingano (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) were first set to clash for Rousey’s title this past year, but a serious knee injury and the tragic death of her husband sidelined Zingano for more than 17 months. While Zingano watched from the sidelines, Rousey submitted rival Miesha Tate in a December rematch and picked up quick stoppage victories over Sara McMann and Alexis Davis this year.

Royce Gracie has high praise for the Diaz brothers: ‘I like their attitude’

"I like their attitude," said Gracie. "Their attitude. Their style. If they stand you up, they can exchange fists with you. If you go to the ground they are super dangerous. They respect jiu-jitsu. They know how to fight from the bottom. They know how to fight from the top. They are finishers. They go for the finish, they don't go to score points."

Boxing: Bernard Hopkins Dislikes Being Cast in Favorite’s Role against Sergey Kovalev

Can Bernard Hopkins defy Father Time yet again? PHILADELPHIA -- He cringed for a moment. Bernard Hopkins, a future first-ballot hall of famer and current all-time great, did not like the word. It was as alien to him as the 49-year-old IBF and WBA light heavyweight world champion is to everyone else, defying logic and nature as a viable, elite fighter in a third decade. Hopkins did not want hear how actually many feel he is -- gasp -- “the favorite” against Russian expatriate Sergey Kovalev on HBO’s Championship Boxing on Nov. 8 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. However, there is some level of truth in it. The undefeated Kovalev (25-0-1, 23 KOs) has never faced anyone of Hopkins’ level before; and though “The Krusher” is 13-0-1, with 13 knockouts in his past 14 fights, he has never gone beyond eight rounds. Hopkins (55-6-2, 32 KOs) has gone beyond eight rounds 35 times in his magnificent 65-fight career; he has stopped two first-ballot hall of famers, Oscar De La Hoya and Felix Trinidad; and he has not lost in more than two years.
