11’s WMMA Pound-for-Pound Top 10

It took Rose Namajunas a little more than three minutes to alter the power structure in women’s mixed martial arts. Long hailed as a future champion, her results caught up to those lofty expectations at UFC 217 on Nov. 4, as she upset pound-for-pound queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk for the undisputed Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s strawweight title at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jedrzejczyk, who had never before been defeated, succumbed to punches 3:03 into the first round. The Polish superstar’s unexpected fall moves UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes into the pound-for-pound penthouse for the first time, while Namajunas enters the rankings at No. 3 and Jedrzejczyk falls all the way to fourth. Finally, Namajunas’ unexpected rise meant the previously 10th-ranked Agnieszka Niedzwiedz slips off the list -- at least for now. Two of the top 10 fighters in our rankings are booked for duty in the coming weeks, as Julia Budd puts her Bellator MMA women’s featherweight belt on the line against Arlene Blencowe on Dec.

Video: Conor McGregor Enters Cage After Bout at Bellator 187, Shoves Ref Marc Goddard

Madness in Dublin thanks to @TheNotoriousMMA!!! DO NOT miss #Bellator187 TONIGHT on @spike 9/8c — Bellator MMA (@BellatorMMA) November 10, 2017 For the second time in less than a month, Conor McGregor and referee Marc Goddard had issues with each other during an international fight card. McGregor rushed the cage at Bellator 187 in Dublin on Friday after SBG Ireland teammate Charlie Ward scored a knockout over Paul Redmond 4:59 into the opening stanza of their bout. McGregor tackled Ward in celebration inside the cage before Goddard and another official came over to intervene. Ward and McGregor were eventually separated, but the UFC lightweight did not appreciate Goddard telling him to leave the cage. As Goddard walked over to check on the fallen Redmond, McGregor shoved the veteran official in the back. McGregor continued to yell and point at Goddard as he was surrounded by more officials, and eventually the “Notorious” one left the cage on his own. It wasn’t the first incident involving McGregor and Goddard. At UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Poland, on Oct.

Frankie Edgar Breaks His Silence On His Withdrawal From The UFC 218 Main Event - MMA Imports

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is heading to Detroit, Michigan on Dec. 2 for UFC 218. However, there has been an unfortunate setback concerning the night’s main event match up.

Coach: GSP Struggled with Middleweight Move, Dealt with Severe Stomach Pains, Vomiting

Experiment with mixed results: The victory by Welterweight Georges St-Pierre at middleweight to gain a new world title was a bold experiment with a truly great result, but was not without its problems. The fundamental problem was always going to be size. Mr St-Pierre always walked into the octagon around 189 pounds on fight night throughout his career. This made him a very averaged sized Welterweight. In order to move up to middle weight, Mr St-Pierre took on a nutritional program designed to facilitate weight gain and hold weight during the rigors of a full fight camp. The result was a disaster. Two weeks into camp he developed severe stomach pains and vomiting. Initially it was suspected that he had an illness, but all tests came back negative. The situation deteriorated to the point that for two weeks of a six week camp there was no training at all. At a critical point we gave him a two day window to either get back in the gym or call off the fight. The first grappling workout he had he vomited heavily prior to workout and then went to work. The next day he had the worst standing sparring session I have ever seen him have.

Matt Brown having second thoughts about retirement heading into UFC-Norfolk

“It was kind of a moment thing,” Brown said. “But at the same time, I think a huge part of it is I’m scared of retirement. I don’t know what I’m going to do – I never gave myself a Plan B. I never gave myself a way out. And that kind of motivates me. I can’t be afraid of something. It could end at any day. I could tear an ACL or have a heart attack. You don’t know. I’ve never been one to back down from things I fear. That’s probably the biggest fear right now – retirement.”

Congressman grills UFC executive during Ali Expansion Act hearing

“When you say boxers are treated like MMA fighters, clarify that statement that you’re talking about the health of the fighter, but not the professional ranking system, and not about the financial disclosures, because there are distinct differences,” said Mullin, who represents Oklahoma’s 2nd district in the house. “And the Ali Act is the backstop to boxers. There is no backstop for MMA fighter. It’s take it or leave it, and that’s why I say the UFC has become the Don King of MMA.”
