Anderson Silva gives Ronda Rousey words of encouragement after rough loss | BJPENN.COM

Ronda Rousey was riding a wave of momentum very few fighters ever get the opportunity to when walking into a championship fight at “UFC 193”. She had torn through every single opponent UFC President Dana White and matchmaker Joe Silva put in front of her and she crossed over into main-stream superstardom because of it. She had every reason to believe that she was going to blast through Holly Holm this past Saturday, but her path to immortality was cut off when she was knocked out in the second round.

Beating the Odds: UFC 193

It was the kick heard ’round the world. Most observers did not give Holly Holm much of a chance in her quest to dethrone Ronda Rousey for the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight title at UFC 193 on Saturday at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Some even wondered whether she belonged in the same cage. The sportsbooks varied wildly. Odds started at -2000, +1000 and then settled closer, with the favorite Rousey ranging from -716 on Sportsbet to -1650 on BetDSI and the underdog Holm from +450 on SB Global to +700 on BetDSI. By comparison, Georges St. Pierre - Matt Serra hovered around -1050, +750 at UFC 69. Related » Matches to Make After UFC 193 Despite the astronomical odds, “The Preacher’s Daughter” silenced her doubters in the main event, as she sprang the shocking upset and knocked out Rousey with a head kick and follow-up punches 59 seconds into the second round. Holm was on her game throughout the fight, as she landed brutal straight lefts, connected with a devastating standing elbow and even executed a surprising takedown.

Then in 1999 the U.S. government applied for 2 patents one on cannabinoids and the other on cannabinoid oils. These patents were approved in 2003, but still refuses to admit that cannabis has medical properties. The patent states Cannabinoids have been found to have antioxidant properties, unrelated to NMDA receptor antagonism. This new found property makes cannabinoids useful in the treatment and prophylaxis of wide variety of oxidation associated diseases, such as ischemic, age-related, inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. The cannabinoids are found to have particular application as neuroprotectants, for example in limiting neurological damage following ischemic insults, such as stroke and trauma, or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and HIV dementia. Nonpsychoactive cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol, are particularly advantageous to use because they avoid toxicity that is encountered with psychoactive cannabinoids at high doses useful in the method of the present invention.

Robbie Lawler takes long road to success

Still high on emotions from the five-round war, Lawler unleashed. “I showed everyone I’m a true fighter. I come to fight. I keep coming and I’m coming to knock people out,” he yelled to Rogan through the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Often humble and soft spoken, it was a moment that illuminated the fire inside of Lawler and how he’s been able to blossom into one of the best UFC fighters of all time. He started fighting in the UFC at 20 years old and he was out by 22. Lawler spent the next 8 years fighting as a middleweight in EliteXC and then Strikeforce, mostly going back-and-forth between wins and losses. ”I’ve always been a really good fighter but sometimes it didn’t show in my fights and I looked terrible,” Lawler said at a media event for UFC 195 on Oct. 21, where he’ll headline in the main event against Carlos Condit for the welterweight belt. “But I kept going and I’ve always been one of those guys who says: if I can take that guy from the practice ring and bring him to the fight then people are in trouble.

Investigate the banks and governments through "International Transparency Forensic Accounting" and you find the money source that feeds ISIS. That is the way you cut off the head of the snake. When you cut off the supply of weapons and food, the ISIS mercenary will go back home. There are certain US government officials that know about the money trail that leads all the way back to the US taxpayer. These dark officials need to be flushed out to expose the lies that are being told by the US government and its Allies. ISIS is a state without a country, no borders and no common language either. It was created by “Big Money” that is supplied by states and banks and corrupt corporations. This is the "Army of Darkness" and it is going to fight anything that has beauty, light, integrity, freedom, higher thinking. It is going to fight them all. Darkness fights for survival, darkness represents control, absolute control over everything, but mostly over money. Greed and corruption exists in the dark easily. By exposing it all through the internet and bringing it to the light it will not survive and lose the battle.

By the Numbers: UFC 193

Holly Holm shocked the world. In an upset that rivals Matt Serra ’s shocker over Georges St. Pierre at UFC 69, Holm dispatched Ronda Rousey via second-round knockout to capture the bantamweight title at UFC 193 in Melbourne on Saturday night. “The Preacher’s Daughter” was in control throughout a contest that ranks as her most dominant UFC victory in three Octagon appearances. Perhaps the most telling statistic to capture what transpired Down Under is not quantifiable, as it is impossible to truly measure the number of jaws that dropped when Holm ended Rousey’s reign with a high kick and follow-up punches 59 seconds into round two. Nonetheless, there are further facts and figures to examine on such a historical night. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 193, with statistics courtesy of Related » UFC 193 Round-by-Round Scoring 38: Significant strikes landed by Holm, the most of any Rousey foe over the course of an 11-bout UFC and Strikeforce tenure. The previous high came when Miesha Tate landed 24 significant strikes in a third-round submission loss to “Rowdy” at UFC 168.

Ronda Rousey Says She’s ‘Fine’ After UFC 193 Knockout, Will ‘Take a Little Bit of Time’ Off

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey took to Instagram on Sunday to give an update on her health following a brutal knockout loss at UFC 193 . “I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support,” Rousey wrote in a brief statement. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.” Rousey was upset by challenger Holly Holm on Sunday in Melbourne, Australia, marking the first defeat in the Olympic judo medalist’s five-year, 13-bout MMA career. Dozens of stiff punches from Holm left the UFC superstar dazed before a perfectly placed head kick and follow-up punches sealed Rousey’s fate. The 28-year-old Californian was not present at the event’s post-fight press conference , as Rousey was transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries. Both Holm and UFC President Dana White agreed that an immediate rematch between the bantamweights is in order, though no time frame was given due to Rousey’s uncertain status.

Matches to Make After UFC 193

Even Superman had his kryptonite. In a bug-meet-windshield moment few saw coming, Holly Holm knocked out Ronda Rousey with a searing head kick and follow-up punches to capture the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight title in the UFC 193 main event on Saturday at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Holm finished it 59 seconds into round two, with Rousey lying motionless on the canvas. This was no Hail Mary knockout. Holm dominated the match from start to finish, as she ripped into the heavily favored champion with surgical punches from the outside. Her lateral movement and deft footwork forced Rousey to give chase and left her vulnerable to counters. Holm bloodied her with several left crosses and even survived a pair of ground exchanges, one of which she initiated with a surprising takedown. Rousey did not alter her approach in the second round, as her reign atop the division began to unravel. Holm connected with a straight left inside the first minute that appeared to daze the judoka. Rousey turned her back briefly and let her guard down before being met with a brutal high kick to the neck that sent her crashing to the floor in a semi-conscious and defenseless state.

The Walkmen: UFC 193 Walkout Songs

They call her “The Preacher’s Daughter,” and newly minted Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight titleholder Holly Holm had a good reputation prior to UFC 193 on Saturday at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia; and it has only gotten better since. Joan Jett’s “Bad Reputation” graced the ears of the fans when Ronda Rousey walked to the Octagon for the headliner, but it would be Holm who walked out of the cage victorious. Holm’s fighting style was anything but sweet and nice, as she used Rousey’s aggressiveness against her with straight left hands and a head kick that netted her a shocking second-round knockout. Rousey’s resume received its first blemish, as she suffered her first loss as a mixed martial artist. No one had come close to beating the “Rowdy” judoka, and only Miesha Tate had forced her to go beyond the first round. Holm, who was carried to the cage by Blair Douglas’ “The Landlord’s Walk,” now sits atop the 135-pound division with a perfect 10-0 record. In the co-main event, American Top Team ’s Valerie Letourneau walked out to Lecrae’s “Walk With Me.

Before boxing and MMA, new UFC champ Holly Holm excelled at high school soccer

A: “She goes into the game — or in this case the ring — and can take on the challenge and be fully engaged in what she’s doing. Soccer is a contact sport — not like football or MMA or boxing – and she’s just resilient. She actually broke her shin in club soccer between her sophomore and junior years. We had a concern when she came back to school that she would be real timid because she had been so aggressive and wouldn’t be the same player. She didn’t skip a beat. She provided the same caliber and level of effort and commitment to the team. She’s a unique person in that regard. She can really focus on things that are important to her and know what environment she’s in.”
