Holly Holm: If Ronda Rousey wants a rematch, I'll give it to her

Jon Jones Shows Off New Physique, Hints at April 23 UFC Return

Jon Jones is putting in the work in preparation for his Octagon return, and that comeback now appears to have a tentative date. The former UFC light heavyweight champion took to Instagram to post a before-and-after picture indicating what he used to look like during his “offseason” as compared to now. He also captioned the photo with a hint as to when he might fight again. In keeping with his usual routine, Jones then deleted the post. “Offseason 2013 vs. offseason 2015. Five more months to prepare for this win,” Jones wrote. “I’ll be sure to be at my best April 23. #newlevels.” April 23 is the date the UFC has announced a pay-per-view event at New York’s Madison Square Garden. Of course, MMA must be legalized in the state before the promotion can hold a card there, a battle that has been ongoing for years. Jones, a New York native who trains in Albuquerque, N.M., would make an ideal headliner for such an event, which would likely be UFC 198. He would almost certainly face Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight title bout.

5 reasons to watch WSOF 25, including an intriguing (and potentially dangerous) tourney

With that said, fans do enjoy the concept of the one-night tournament, and it’s hard to argue that on paper these things don’t sound, well, awesome. You want to know which fighter is a tough SOB? Throw eight fighters into a one-night tourney, and the one with his hand raised at the end of the night is that tough SOB.

Episode No. 9 recap: 'The Ultimate Fighter 22: Team McGregor vs. Team Faber'

Round 2 – Gonzalez loads up on big kicks early in the round. Lloveras fires back with a pair of kicks, but they lack the same sting as Gonzalez. Gonzalez overextends on a spinning kick attempt and Lloveras takes advantage by moving inside to score a takedown. He quickly grounds Gonzalez but is unable to keep him there. Gonzalez scrambles to his feet but is still stuck in the clinch by the cage. Lloveras puts him back down to the ground with a help of a leg sweep and is almost instantly back in mount. Gonzalez spins free of mount but remains stuck in guard. Before long Lloveras returns to mount. Gonzalez saves his energy for one big explosion to get out from the bottom and return to his feet. Lloveras is unwilling to give any space to move, though, and scores with one final takedown. The exact same situation plays out again, but this time Lloveras rides out top control until the end of the round.

UFC President Dana White Skeptical of Georges St. Pierre Comeback Talk

While renowned boxing trainer Freddie Roach recently revealed that Georges St. Pierre planned to try a six-week training camp to test the waters for a potential MMA return, UFC President Dana White isn’t buying it. “I highly doubt it’s going to happen because GSP’s been off for too long and has a ton of money,” White told the Los Angeles Times . “You don’t do a six-week camp to learn if you have the hunger. You either know it or not. Robbie Lawler knows it, he’s hungry, he trains like an animal. You’re either hungry and an animal or you're not.” St. Pierre hasn’t fought since taking a hard-fought split verdict over Johny Hendricks to retain his welterweight belt at UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013. After the win, St. Pierre was blasted by White for professing a desire to take some time away from the sport. The champion made it official approximately a month later, announcing that he was vacating his title in order to take a leave of absence. Rumors have swirled over the past two years about a potential GSP return, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.

The Fighter & The Kid by FOX Sports on iTunes

This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.

Diego Sanchez inspired by Conor McGregor to move down to featherweight

"I've got to thank Conor McGregor for that one," Sanchez told FOX Sports.  "I had never seen a guy his size make 145 and he kind of showed me that's something possible. In my last fight, I didn't feel like the weight cut was that hard and I got to eat a lot, even though I used the Mike Dolce program and he's known for having his fighters eat a lot, but I got to eat a lot and it just seemed realistic. Ten more pounds that's possible. I felt like maybe this is something that was realistic.

This is me down on my knees pleading for help for the man I love. Unbeknownst to anyone, including Chris, something has been very wrong inside his body for sometime. We have been out in Thailand training together for the last month. He came home in a severe state of confusion after on antibiotic treatment he was receiving the other day for a staph infection we each caught while training (for those outside of the martial arts world, this sounds gross, but is a very normal thing all gyms deal with). Long story short, his heart quit beating and he stopped breathing in my arms. I got him breathing again and then had him taken to the hospital yesterday morning (Nov 17). He was in kidney failure by the time we reached the hospital. They put a catheter in and he filled a quarter of the bag immediately with blood. His blood pressure then later dropped "dangerously low" according to the doctor. They said there were several other things majorly wrong inside him, but they didnt understand. They ran every test possible and he just kept getting worse and worse. They admitted him to ICU at 8:00 last night, and made me leave despite what was an inappropriate scene on my part that probably almost got me in a lot of trouble.

Ronda Rousey's Defeat Makes Her a New Kind of Hero

Now she has the chance to be a whole new kind of hero. No longer an unstoppable, alien force in a class of her own, Rousey can become something far more important: a truly human champion with whom we all can identify. One with vulnerabilities like ours, who will have to work to overcome a public setback on her way back to dominance.

"He's a competitor and he's tough but at the same time I do see a lot of flaws in him. He probably feels the same way about me. He's going to try to expose them and I'm going to try to expose them. I think his game plan is to take me down, probably shoot and get me coming in aggressive and I believe he's going to try to kick my lead leg and kind of get me aggressive and come forward but I'm ready for all that."

Jose Aldo thinks Ronda Rousey will walk away from MMA

“I think it’s really hard for her to return to fighting,” Aldo said, per “Her career has taken a different direction. If I’m making a lot of money doing movies or something else, I’d go that direction, too. Am I going to mess my face up getting punched in the face? You’re crazy. In my opinion, I don’t think (she fights again). If she comes back, of course she can (win the title). She was always a fighter, but if I were her, I wouldn’t come back.”

Ricardo Lamas: The Future is Now

Whenever people join the workforce, the mindset is generally the same whether you’re in finance, filmmaking or fighting: go to work, put some money in the bank and build for the future, often with an eye towards having a family and setting your future children up so they don’t have to work as hard as you do once they get older. Over the last year, that “plan for the future” approach became Ricardo Lamas’ reality. In February, the featherweight standout tied the knot with his girlfriend Olivia and in June, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Abel. “It’s all great; I love it, man,” the new father and husband exclaimed. “Married life is great and the little guy is definitely keeping me busy and on my toes. I’m enjoying every second of fatherhood. “I always used a future family as motivation for doing well in the sport, doing well in my career and just doing well in life in general – I always had it in the back of my mind – and now it’s real. Now it gives me more motivation to go to the gym.

Ten$ion by Die Antwoord on iTunes

Lets be honest, most American hip hop these days plays like the same thing over and over: the same lyrical themes, the same collaborations and the same chest beating machismo. After listening to the umpteenth rapper declaring themselves "the greatest" in a leisurely mid-tempo rap, hearing these odd balls from South Africa spitting rapid fire rhymes that send up hip hop tropes in a trashily satirical way is wonderfully welcome to music fans sick of Drake, Kanye and Jay Z. Although not prefect, it's so giddy in its destructive "the hell with it" attitude it's hard not to be sucked in. Not for everyone, but a fresh take on a stale genre.

Herb Dean points out interesting observation about Rousey at UFC 193 | BJPENN.COM

While Holm certainly put on a flawless performance against Rousey, Herb Dean, who was the referee for the fight, pointed out an interesting observation about Rousey that he had.

Our ancestors probably didn’t get 8 hours a night, either

The reason may have to do with sleep temperature. The people studied consistently slept during the nightly period of declining ambient temperature, Siegel found. Invariably, they woke up when temperatures, having fallen all night, hit the lowest point in the 24-hour period. This was the case even when the lowest temperature occurred after daybreak. The pattern resulted in roughly the same wake-up time each morning, a habit long recommended for treating sleep disorders.

Fight Night Monterrey 2015 Fantasy Preview

The UFC returns to Mexico this weekend for its first ever show in Monterrey, with a welterweight main event as well as the finals of the latest season of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America.   Kelvin Gastelum will fight in Mexico for the second straight time as he looks to cap off his season coaching the reality show with a victory over Neil Magny in an intriguing main event fight. Gastelum is moving back down to welterweight after a brief stop by the middleweight division, and he's got a tough test ahead with Magny looking to capitalize on his last victory over Erick Silva.   Also on the card, Ricardo Lamas looks to bounce back after a recent loss to Chad Mendes when he faces Diego Sanchez, who makes his debut at 145 pounds after starting out his UFC career as a middleweight.   In today's fantasy preview, we're going to examine some of the key matchups taking place in Mexico, including the main event, as well as the fighters joining the promotion via this season of The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America, as we look ahead to UFC Fight Night: Magny vs. Gastelum.   SPLIT DECISION These are the fights that are just too close to call, but a few minor differences between favorite and underdog could lead one fighter to victory and the other to defeat.

The Downes Side: Fight Night Monterrey Predictions

That’s right boys and girls, it’s time for another Mexican edition of the Downes Side! I can’t promise a lot, but I can promise that it will be authentic - just like a quesadilla burger from Applebee’s. It doesn’t matter what neighborhood you’re in, it’s a great night for fights. Live from the Monterrey Arena in Monterrey, Mexico, Neil Magny and Kelvin Gastelum compete in a battle between ranked welterweights. In the co-main event of the night, featherweights Ricardo Lamas and Diego Sanchez promise something that’s sure to be entertaining (and probably odd). Grab the Dos Equis guy and relax, it’s fight time! EFRAIN ESCUDERO VS. LEANDRO SILVA We open in the lightweight division with Efrain Escudero and Leandro Silva. Winner of season eight of The Ultimate Fighter, Escudero has back to back wins over Rodrigo de Lima and Drew Dober. Silva is a huge, powerful lightweight, and has ten career wins via submission. Nicknamed “Buscape,” I assume that refers to his love for both Boston University and Southern California Aquatic Plant Enthusiasts.
