Fabricio Werdum wins lopsided decision over Marcin Tybura, full results from UFC Fight Night in Sydney #UFC #UFCSydney

Matches to Make After UFC Fight Night ‘Werdum vs. Tybura’

Fabricio Werdum cements his spot atop the heavyweight division with the big win over Marcin Tybura! #UFCSydney — FOX Sports: UFC (@UFCONFOX) November 19, 2017 Father Time has not yet billed Fabricio Werdum . The two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist kept his place in line near the top of the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight division, as he took a three-round unanimous decision from Marcin Tybura in the UFC Fight Night 121 main event on Saturday at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. All three cageside judges sided with the 40-year-old Werdum: 50-45, 50-45 and 49-46. Tybura simply could not match the Brazilian’s output. Werdum kicked effectively to the legs, body and head while operating behind a penetrating jab. He consolidated his efforts with multi-punch volleys upstairs and occasional knee strikes to the head and body. Nothing Tybura tried seemed to give Werdum pause, as the Polish upstart was foiled in his bid for a fourth straight win. In the aftermath of UFC Fight Night “Werdum vs.

UFC Sydney Prelims: Nik Lentz Guillotines Former Teammate Will Brooks, Calls Out ATT

GUILLOTINE! Nik Lentz makes Will Brooks tap for the submission win! #UFCSydney — FOX Sports: UFC (@UFCONFOX) November 19, 2017 Nik Lentz is a quintessential spoiler and at UFC Fight Night 121 , that’s exactly what he did, locking up a guillotine choke on former American Top Team compatriot Will Brooks at 2:05 of the second round in Sydney, Australia. The 33-year-old Lentz (27-8-2, 1 NC MMA, 12-5-1, 1 NC UFC) was originally scheduled to take on Brooks (18-4 MMA, 1-3 UFC) at UFC 216 on Oct. 7, but pulled out citing “medical issues” before weigh-ins. After the rescheduling of the contest for nearly six weeks later, the Minnesota native swelled from a +300 to +435 underdog, yet always seemed to be in sneaky control of his bout with Brooks. Brooks circled the Octagon for most of the seven minutes, pumping his jab and being the more active participant, yet Lentz dinged him repeatedly with counters and threatened with a guillotine off of an early takedown. Brooks escaped the first one, yet “Ill Will” dove headfirst into a second front choke off of an outside trip in Round 2 and tapped as Lentz rolled him into mount.

Pros react to Fabricio Werdum's defeat of Marcin Tybura |

Last night, the UFC returned to Sydney, Australia, with an exciting 13-fight card. In the main event of this card, which happened to clock as the longest card in UFC history, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum stepped into the cage with rising Polish contender Marcin Tybura. Despite a strong effort from Tybura, the much more experienced Werdum ultimately came out on top, capturing a unanimous decision win after five rounds of action.

UFC Fight Night 121 Post-Mortem: A Night of Attrition

UFC Fight Night 121 on Saturday in Sydney set a record for the most in-cage time for an event in Ultimate Fighting Championship history. It was a night of attrition. Back-and-forth contests carried the day, along with plenty of controversial decisions, and a heavyweight great took home yet another win in the main event. The Australian crowd got its money’s worth. Pride Never Die Fabricio Werdum made the walk to the cage for the 30th time in his career and the 11th time in the UFC. This one played out like most of his others, with Werdum dominating much of the bout against Marcin Tybura . Unlike many fights early in his career, this one was won with superior striking. Since he moved to Kings MMA and came under the tutelage of Rafael Cordeiro , we have seen Werdum make significant strides in his standup; and against Tybura, it proved to be enough to secure a hard-fought win. The fight played out over five rounds in which Werdum was the aggressor, landing hard straight punches and knees. While Tybura was criticized for his lack of output, he was effective with his right hooks over the top and his head kicks, four of which he landed on Werdum.

Undefeated Ketlen Vieira to Face Former Title Challenger Cat Zingano at UFC 222 on March 3

Undefeated Brazilian prospect Ketlen Vieira won’t be facing a former Ultimate Fighting Championship titlist in her next bout. Instead, she’ll have to settle for a former title challenger. Vieira has signed on to face veteran Cat Zingano in a bantamweight clash at UFC 222 , scheduled for March 3 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. MMA Brasil was first to report the pairing on Friday. This past Thursday, Zingano teased via Instagram that she had a fight lined up. “I have who. I have where. I know when. It’s time,” the Colorado native wrote. Vieira was briefly linked to a fight with former UFC 145-pound queen Germaine de Randamie who is eyeing a return to bantamweight. However, “The Iron Lady” told MMA Fighting last week that her right hand injury requires more rehab after surgery. "I’m still rehabbing from my injury,” de Randamie said last Thursday, "never did I signed or agree to fight anyone at this point. The UFC also knows I’m not able to fight right now. I need to let my body heal properly." The bout will be the 35-year-old Zingano’s first action in 20 months.

If it’s good for him. F**k, why not? Do whatever you want. You’ve got enough money. If that’s how you wanna act, by all means, go right ahead. But yeah, I think he can do whatever he wants. I think he’s got the ball in his court as far as that goes. He doesn’t need to fight if he doesn’t want to. I think he’s made the most of his opportunities. He’s been very lucky in the match ups he’s gotten, but he’s had the skill to back up his talk. He’s gotten these opportunities and he’s had the skill to back it up. But, now I think he’s looking at guys like Tony Ferguson. I think that’s probably the toughest fight for him.”

“The Ultimate Fighter” train will keep rolling along for a 27th season, and this time, the focus will be on undefeated fighters. Marlon Moraes will make a quick turnaround for his third Octagon appearance, as he has will step in for the injured Rani Yahya against Aljamain Sterling at UFC Fight Night 123 . UFC Fight Night 123 takes place at Save Mart Center in Fresno, Calif., on Dec. 9 and is headlined by a featherweight duel between Cub Swanson and Brian Ortega . Bellator heavyweight grand prix opening odds: TBA favored over 'King Mo,' Sonnen, 'Rampage'

The opening-round matchups and event dates haven’t been formally announced, but they could have an impact on the odds once they’re set. For now, though, the big men – with the exception of Bader, who has the second-best odds – are the frontrunners to win the grand prix.

Don't feel bad for laughing at Junior Albini's diaper look – he's doing the same thing

“The guy wants to kill me across the cage, and I’m going to worry about this, about shorts?” Albini said. “So I did that big diaper, but I had no idea it was going to look like that. Next time, I talked to my manager, I’m going to keep my weight stable and ask Reebok for (stretch material) so I can get accustomed to them. I don’t like (the shorts) tight.

Why does Fabricio Werdum have to make it so hard to root for him?

It’s a strange time for the 40-year-old Werdum. He’s got to be at least within sight of retirement, and clearly he wants another title for his trophy case before he hangs up the gloves. His last two wins came against unheralded opponents, but you can hardly blame him for that, since all he’s doing is showing up and fighting who’s there.

Trading Shots: What should the UFC do about an uptick in fighters behaving badly?

Let me ask you this: When you heard about this incident, did you entertain the thought, even for a second, that the UFC might pull Werdum out of his fight as punishment? Probably not. That’d be crazy, right? Just because a guy gets charged with assault outside the host hotel two days before the event, that’s no reason to scratch him from the headlining spot. Why, that’d be bad for business. Better to take your time with the investigation until after the show’s over and the money’s all been counted.

Colby Covington Justifies Pressing Charges Against Werdum In Insulting New Rant - MMA Imports

“Why I pressed charges is because it was going to be Werdum’s story versus my story, because the UFC didn’t know what to do about it. The only way I could get the hotel tapes was to file a police report and that’s what I did. I’m not trying to get money out of him.
