Why don't people see the yeti any more? - BBC News

"The third King of Bhutan is said to have led an exploration team to search for the yeti. He told his men if they came across it, they should run downwards because the yeti wouldn't be able to see them - its long hair would cover its eyes, obstructing its vision. He told them if they ran up the mountain, the yeti's hair would fall back making it easy for him to catch the men."

Paul Felder Determined to ‘Be Less Conservative’ After Dropping Back-to-Back Decisions

Paul Felder has ideas about why he lost his last two bouts. | Photo: Jeff Sherwood/Sherdog.com A little more than 18 months ago, then-unbeaten Paul Felder was being discussed as one of the next prospects who might get the call up to the Ultimate Fighting Championship following his win over Marc Stevens . Now, four fights later, Felder is 2-2 in the UFC and established as a formidable force at lightweight. “It’s been crazy,” Felder told Sherdog.com in a recent interview. “I remember... talking to my manager after that fight, hoping that we were going to get in, and now sitting back and thinking, I’ve got four fights. Two and two, not necessarily going quite as well as I had hoped, but they were fights with Edson Barboza , Ross Pearson and Danny Castillo . It’s still surreal and overwhelming, and I’ve got to pinch myself sometimes.” Felder’s .500 record has put a damper on the high of his debut. After losses to Barboza and Pearson, “The Irish Dragon” has decided to tweak preparations for his pivotal fifth bout in the Octagon, which will come Jan.

UFC’s Glover Teixeira Says Cummins Isn’t Ready For Him; Talks Jones’ “Dirty” Style + Fighting DC

MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant talked via Skype with Glover Teixeira and heard what he had to say about his upcoming fight with Patrick Cummins, set to take place as the UFC Sao Paulo co-main event on November 7, 2015.  Glover talks about the style match-up, why he isn’t worried about Cummins’ wrestling and why he thinks that the 9th-ranked fighter just isn’t ready for him.  Currently ranked at #4, Glover also talks about a potential fight with Champ Daniel Cormier, the “dirty fighter” label some people have given former champ Jon Jones and why the USADA rules may mean he can fight for another 4 years.  Please help spread the word about our weekly podcast http://www.mmaheat.com/podcast and remember you can find pro-MMA techniques/instruction here: http://www.MMA.help and all of our MMA coverage here: http://www.MMA.media Nós falamos Português! * Join us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/MMAHEAT * Follow MMAHEAT on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/MMAHEAT * Follow Karyn on Twitter: http://www.twitter.com/KarynBryant

Opinion: Can We Have More Cross-Division Fights, Please?

B.J. Penn built his legacy on multi-division success. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Editor's note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of Sherdog.com, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. Forget the holidays. Go Big season has arrived. In the six weeks between Nov. 6 and Dec. 19, there are eight Ultimate Fighting Championship events in five different countries, and almost all of them are stacked with relevant, exciting matchups. On top of that, Bellator MMA has three shows in the same time frame, and the World Series of Fighting will throw in two of its own, as well. That means high-caliber fighting every weekend until Christmas, for an average of one fight card almost every three days. The craziness doesn’t stop there. A total of eight world titles will be up for grabs -- five in the UFC, two in Bellator and another in WSOF; and according to Sherdog.com rankings, 35 of the top 100 fighters across each weight class will be fighting in this short duration, plus another seven top 15 fighters.

Daniel Straus and Taming the ‘Pitbull’

Daniel Straus has gone 2-1 since surrendering the Bellator title in 2014. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com When Daniel Straus enters the cage on Friday at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, he hopes the third time will be the charm. There, in the Bellator 145 main event, he will challenge Bellator MMA featherweight champion Patricio Freire -- a man to whom he has already lost twice. Straus anticipates a different outcome this time, but the Cincinnati fighter did not expect to get another crack at Freire so soon after being dispatched by the Brazilian 10 months ago. Their back-and-forth battle at Bellator 132 on Jan. 16 ended with the American submitting to a rear-naked choke late in the fourth round, curtailing his quest to regain the championship he once held. Considering the depth of Bellator’s featherweight division, not many people, Straus included, thought he would resurface as the No. 1 contender less than a year later. “I thought I would have had to have two, maybe three more [wins] before I got back there,” Straus told Sherdog.

Matt Brown Out of UFC Fight Night Main Event; UFC Seeking Opponent for Kelvin Gastelum

Matt Brown has been sidelined by an unspecified injury. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com An injury has taken Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight Matt Brown out of his headlining engagement with Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Fight Night in Monterrey, Mexico. UFC announced Brown’s withdrawal late Monday but did not disclose the nature of the injury. The organization hopes to keep Gastelum on the Nov. 21 card at Monterrey Arena and stated that “the search for a replacement is underway.” The show’s co-main event slot is currently occupied by a featherweight tilt between Ricardo Lamas and Diego Sanchez . Brown last competed in July when he submitted Tim Means with a first-round guillotine choke, halting a two-fight losing skid for “The Immortal.” Gastelum, who aims to make his 170-pound return after a one-fight stint at middleweight, stopped Nate Marquardt after two rounds in their June meeting.

Werdum has 'a lot of respect for Fedor', but isn't sure he'll ever be in the UFC

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum will go down as one of the greatest to ever compete in his division, and one of his defining wins is his 1st round armbar win over the great Fedor Emelianenko in Strikeforce back in 2010. With many fans considering Fedor's cut stoppage loss as not really a loss, this was essentially the first "real" loss of Fedor's illustrious career. Today, Werdum stands as the #1 HW in the world having submitted Cain Velasquez to capture the undisputed title, while Fedor is ready to return to action at the new Rizin FF after three years away from the sport.

UFC Fight Night 80 bout order finalized, Sterling vs. Eduardo buried on prelims

With the UFC Fight Night: VanZant vs. Namajunas bout order finalized, there's one glaring point of emphasis, which is the fact that #6 bantamweight Aljamain Sterling and #10 Johnny Eduardo are in the middle of the prelims and in the bottom half of the bout order. Maybe it doesn't matter as much with the whole card on Fight Pass, but still worth noting that a highly touted prospect-turned-contender in Sterling isn't even close to a higher profile spot on what is otherwise a smaller show.  Sterling doesn't seem to mind , but it's also worth nothing that this fight is also the last of his current contract, and he does plan to test the free agent market after all is said and done.
