Special Event: Joe Rogan | Seat Engine

Rogan’s other true love is standup comedy. As a standup comedian for nearly 20 years Joe Rogan has honed an inquisitive and intense comedic style. He exudes a mad joy for life in all its insanity and revels in the art of standup comedy to explore the world with raw honesty. This has made him a national headliner, a favorite performer at the prestigious Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal and a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” In 2000, Rogan released his debut comedy album, “I’m Gonna Be Dead Someday,” on Warner Bros. Records. In April of 2007 he released a follow-up CD, “Shiny Happy Jihad” on Comedy Central Records. Rogan’s debut DVD “Joe Rogan Live” aired on Showtime in the spring of 2007.

Jose Aldo: UFC fighters deserve better

Though Aldo is perhaps the most dominant world champion in MMA and UFC history, he has said before he feels that because of his relatively small stature, he does not get paid as well as other fighters do. All of that said, the Brazilian says that he understands that the UFC and MMA as a whole are both young, so it is more challenging for athlete pay to match that of other, more established sports.

WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship

Following a spectacular year of world-class Mixed Martial Arts action, NBC will recap the paths that seven World Series of Fighting champions took to capture gold with ‘WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship,’ a special 90-minute program that premieres on the broadcast network on Saturday, December 27th at 2:30pm/ET. World Series of Fighting President Ray Sefo had this to say: “We are excited to cap off what was a banner year for World Series of Fighting, and appreciate the opportunity that NBC is giving our fans to re-live some of the most incredible moments we have seen thus far in our cage,”. “WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship will essentially hone in on the journeys and achievements of our reigning world champions who fought their hearts out to become recognized as the top fighters in their respective divisions.” Hosted by World Series of Fighting play-by-play announcer Todd Harris and MMA legends Bas Rutten and Renzo Gracie, ‘WSOF Unstoppable: Road To The Championship’ features a mixture of highlights and complete rounds from 16 different World Series of Fighting bouts that took place over the course of nine live events between 2013 and 2014, including the seven championship showdowns that took place this year.

Tim Tebow became famous for his hard work and public displays of faith on the football field — but now he’s gaining recognition for something far away from the fifty yard line. The rise and fall and rise of Xtreme Couture

The trouble was, Xtreme Couture didn’t exactly have the budget for two full-time head coaches at the time. To solve this problem, Davis offered to take a pay cut. He did it, he said, because the team needed someone like Follis if it wanted to become any sort of team at all. While Xtreme Couture might have gotten by on name value and novelty alone for the first few years, he knew those things had taken them as far as they could. His own career was proof of that. After leaving Oregon and relocating to Las Vegas, Davis said, “my fight game went in the dumps compared to where it was with Follis and Team Quest.”

Top 10 Global Submissions of 2014 - Hidden Gems

Finding something beautiful hidden in an uncommon place is one of life's true pleasures. It could be a diamond in the rough, a wild flower blooming between rocks, or an incredible prizefight tucked deep in the guts of cable TV programming or a Youtube account. But, the world is chaotic and it can be difficult to find the time to simply enjoy these quaint pleasures. This is what we are here for. MMA has become a constant, international sporting endeavour. For hardcore fans of this sport in the past, it was a rite of passage, a duty and a thrill to stay appraised on what was happening in cages and rings all over the world. In 2014, the UFC and Bellator MMA combined to stage 69 events alone; just keeping up with the “major leagues” has become a real chore for a lot of serious fans, nevermind dedicating your Friday nights to AXS TV programming, or spending a weekday afternoon at work watching an M-1 Global card with an audience full of Russian knights on horseback on the banks of the Neva River. You might not have the time to sort through the stones to find those rare flowers in bloom.

Daniel Cormier Plans to Make Jon Jones Quit at UFC 182 (Video) | MMAWeekly.com

Really!!! Do you honestly thing dc will get “destroyed”??? Personally I think Jones is an amazing fighter but I see dc beating crap out of Jones. He’s faced stronger fighters! Wrestles with the toughest and fittest every day in the gym! (cain) the only thing Jones has it he’s awkward style but that won’t help him when he’s on his back. I could be wrong and if I am ill be the first to apologise but….. Dc is gonna kill Jones in my opinion.

Twitter Mailbag: Hard times for Dominick Cruz

You know what I can’t see? The UFC actually implementing this plan in its current form. I predict that by the time this Reebok deal kicks in midway through 2015, the UFC will have gotten enough pushback from all sides to convince it to do something else as far as base sponsor pay for fighters. From what I’ve heard, no one but the UFC seems to like this plan. Fighters don’t want media members determining how much they get paid. Most media members recognize that they shouldn’t have that power in the first place. Most fans realize that sponsor money and fighter rankings operate according to two totally different metrics, since one is about popularity and the other is solely about wins and losses. This system might be fine for those at the very top, and it will almost certainly improve things for those at the very bottom, but a lot of fighters in the middle might end up getting a raw deal this way.

MMAjunkie's 'Knockout of the Year' for 2014 – will our selection match your vote?

Boring grappler turned spectacular knockout artist Dong Hyung Kim  (19-3 MMA, 10-3 UFC) pulled off one of the most unique finishes in UFC history with a spinning elbow knockout of John Hathaway (17-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) in the TUF China Finale main event. Kim made good of his first UFC headliner by pulling off a technique that has never led to a clean knockout in octagon history. That alone is a huge feat. When you add MMAjunkie’s John Morgan, who was cageside at the event, recalling the sickening thud of Kim’s elbow on Hathaway’s skull as one of the most distinct noises he’s ever heard at an event, you know something devastating occurred.

Kickboxing: Five big fights for 2015

The 2014 kickboxing year started with a bang but lost pace in its latter half as event dates were moved or cancelled, leading to a rather front-loaded calendar. As a result certain fights we had hoped to see this year never came to fruition. A rematch between ‘Bazooka' Joe Valtellini and Nieky Holzken is a prime example; hopefully we get to see that one in 2015, plus action from Giorgio Petrosyan, Gokhan Saki, Tyrone Spong among others. Read on for my five most hoped-for kickboxing fights for 2015.

Scott Coker Plans on Speaking with Fedor Emelianenko to Gauge Interest in Return

Could a Fedor Emelianenko comeback be in the works? | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Scott Coker is making it abundantly clear that he isn’t simply content with being No. 2. Since the day he took over as president of Bellator MMA , Coker has outlined an an aggressive and far-reaching strategy when it comes to signing free agents and pursuing new talent for the promotion. By New Year’s Eve, Coker hopes to have had a discussion with one very prominent former employee: retired Russian heavyweight superstar Fedor Emelianenko . The ex-Strikeforce head plans on attending Inoki Bom-Ba-Ye 2014 in Tokyo on Dec. 31. At some point, he expects to cross paths with “The Last Emperor.” Emelianenko, now 38, retired from mixed martial arts following a first-round knockout victory over Pedro Rizzo at an M-1 Global event on June 21, 2012. Could a comeback be in the offing? Coker thinks it’s at least worth the effort to find out. “I’ve heard mixed signals. The last time I talked to [his people], they were basically saying he’s retired and he’s working for the government supporting MMA, the growth of MMA in Russia,” Coker said during a recent interview on the Sherdog Radio Network’s “Beatdown” show .

Josh Burkman: Hector Lombard is the one who should be worried

Originally a member of The Ultimate Fighter season 2, Burkman had a long career with the promotion that ended with a rather dull thud when he dropped four out of five fights including a three fight losing streak that signaled the end of his run with the UFC.  At the time of his exit, Burkman was battling serious back issues that stopped him from applying the wrestling he was known for early in his career and it appeared as if he might just be done with fighting all together.

The Fighter & The Kid

This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.
