War Machine has 2012 probation revoked; judge reinstates 1 1/2-4 year prison term

In the latest chronicles of Jon Koppenhaver aka War Machine vs. the United States legal system, a new development has taken place. In a  report from ABC News , a judge revoked his probation yesterday and has invoked a 1 1/2 - 4 year sentence she had originally suspended in 2012. The probation was conditional on his not leaving Nevada, however, during his stint of evading arrest in August, he left the state and was eventually captured in a Los Angeles hotel.

TUF 20 Finale adds six fights in Las Vegas, including Herrig-Ellis, Torres-Magana

Herrig and Ellis had bad blood on the show, making their UFC debuts a grudge match. Herrig, who trains with Jeff Curran’s team in north suburban Chicago, is a veteran of Bellator and Invicta, and her resume includes a split-decision win over castmate Clark at Bellator 94. But it also includes decision losses to Esparza and Torres, the most recent coming at Invicta FC 7 a year ago. Prior to that, she had won four straight and six of seven. Ellis has been fighting professionally for 10 years, and in her early days submitted WSOF champion Jessica Aguilar, regarded as the top strawweight outside the UFC. She went 2-2 for Bellator, including a win over Daly, but also lost a rematch with Aguilar before a TKO loss to Penne at Invicta FC 1.

Cung Le requests contract release; calls UFC 'something I don't believe in anymore'

"The consensus prior to this situation was that Cung was that he was an honorable man," Ibarra said. "A family man, a true embodiment of what martial arts is: Respect, honor, he embodied all of those things. And now hii career will ever be tarnished, or forever have something of an asterisk next to it, due to something that is no fault of his own. Does anybody deserve that? No, absolutely not. I would hope the UFC would understand that and recuse themselves from further drug testing when there are no athletic commissions, and leave drug testing in the hands of people who specialize in drug testing so that this doesn't happen again."

This game definitely deserves my 5 star and it's the only game that I ACTUALLY like to play because it has Bruce Lee 😋

Nate Quarry Smashes The UFC Over New Uniforms | BJPENN.COM

Let me clarify, sports are an opportunity, NOT a career. Average NFL career? Around 3 years. So about 1.5 million dollars. Not a bad opportunity. And well worth putting your body in harms way. How about the UFC? I’ve known main event fighters that fought for the UFC for many, many years, who don’t make enough money to even own their own house, put their kids through college, build anything you can in a job you know you’ll have for decades. So these athletes retire from fighting. Why? When they love it so much? Because at some point the love wanes and reality sets in. “I’m always in pain, I’m not appreciated, there’s no future in this and what I’m being paid right now isn’t allowing me to build a future.”

Officers took Vedepo to the ground and attempted to handcuff him, but he rolled his body and kicked his legs. Officers deployed a Taser in an attempt to subdue Vedepo, but it was ineffective, police said.

Vertical Farms Will Be Big, But For Whom?

To your comment about waste, hyrdo- and aero- ponics systems use on the order of 90% less water than typical farming. Depending on the actual set up, it can be more or less, but that's a decent average. The dousing of plants and soil that occurs in traditional farming is pretty staggering, because most of the water goes to waste, running off into groundwater, rivers and lakes, taking along with it all the chemicals we use to make the plants grow along with killing pests. A properly set up soil-less system is almost fully enclosed and recirculating, eliminating the majority of waste. Taste is another issue, but that can be tuned by varying the mineral additives.

[Watch] Dennis M Lynch - $3,000 Per Employee Obamacare Penalty For Hiring Americans Vs Illegals | Universal Free Press

Documentary filmmaker Dennis Michael Lynch has been all of the amnesty issue for a long time and he says he’s been screaming about this one particular issue for a year. The problem lies in the way obamacare requires United States citizens and legal aliens to be covered in the workplace by the employer. An employer who fails to cover his employees faces a potential fine of between $2,000 and $5,000 per person. No such penalty exists for an illegal alien employee who is hired under Obama’s new criminal amnesty.

Outside the Octagon - Yves Edwards: A Career Well-Fought

The slender lightweight lost his debut to Matt Serra at welterweight at UFC 33, and then his second Octagon bout to Caol Uno back at 155 pounds at UFC 37. But from there, Edwards found his groove and went on an 8-1 run from 2002 to 2004 that included six wins without a loss in the UFC, capped off by a highlight-reel knockout of Josh Thomson at UFC 49 in August of 2004. If you said Yves Edwards was the best lightweight in the world after the win over Thomson, you wouldn’t get too many solid arguments against that declaration. Then the lightweight division in the UFC disappeared. With the MMA explosion that followed the first season of The Ultimate Fighter a little less than a year away, the promotion didn’t have enough room for another division while trying to keep the fighters from heavyweight to welterweight busy. The 155ers were on hiatus, and Edwards, 27 and in his fighting prime, didn’t have a home in the biggest promotion in the United States anymore. It’s important to point that out today, the morning after Edwards announced his retirement at the age of 38, because those fans who came on board after Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar put on a fight for the ages at the Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale in April of 2005 and introduced the sport to the masses never got to see Edwards at his best.

Kennedy responds to Sonnen - "I will happily choke him out"

Chael is being an ignorant idiot that evidently doesn’t have any idea what he’s talking about. (Except for me being an American hero which totally true. j/k) I didn’t walk back to Yoel, Yoel was chasing me down after the fight trying to apologize for cheating. Watch the video. It’s very clear that is exactly what happened. I haven’t said a thing for the past five weeks all I’ve been doing is hunting. But I guess I shouldn’t worry about it. It’s coming from a retired, PED using felon. Maybe he’s trying to promote a fight in Metamoris and if that is the case I will happily choke him out.”

The Coming Division: Will Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Give Birth to New Martial Arts? | FIGHTLAND

The thing which has kept a jiu jitsu schism from happening sooner is the presence and success of the Gracie family. The Brazilian jiu jitsu community lionizes and adores Carlos, Helio, Carlson, Rickson, Royce, Royler, Renzo and Kyra. They love to hear Gracie stories of dojo raids, nightclub brawls and the beginnings of MMA. Being trained by a Gracie still holds a kind of weight to it, regardless of which Gracie is doing the teaching.  The belt system of white, blue, purple, brown and black still has universal use, among adults; and earning a black belt still takes 8 to 10 years for most. So it seems that the thing which unites the various jiu jitsu schools today is the shared lineage of instruction, going back to Carlos Gracie, Gracie family lore and belt ranks. This might be all that is required to keep Brazilian jiu jitsu from splitting off into new martial arts; just a few hanging portraits of Carlos and Helio, in every school may do. However, as the art keeps evolving and spreading, it may be harder for jiu jitsu schools to mutually recognize rank and accomplishments. Something that has the potential to make this particularly difficult is the existence of different rule sets for sport jiu jitsu.

UFC 181 Statistical Matchup Analysis: Hendricks vs. Lawler 2

Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler will meet for a second time. | Photo: Jeff Sherwood/Sherdog.com The Ultimate Fighting Championship is pulling out all the stops with UFC 181 , its final pay-per-view event of 2014. On top of a card stacked with established names and exciting prospects, the headliner revisits one of the year’s best fights in a welterweight championship tilt between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler . This is the first appearance for “Bigg Rigg” since their first fight, as he underwent surgery on a torn biceps in the aftermath of UFC 171. Meanwhile, Lawler has been busy dispatching other contenders, fighting twice in the months following his championship loss. The first fight was an epic, back-and-forth brawl, and even though this is just the second welterweight championship fight in eight years that does not involve George St. Pierre, there are not many people complaining about it being a rematch. Does Hendricks have an advantage defending the throne for the first time or does fortune favor the career turnaround of Lawler? 'Karate Hottie' nickname will stay, but Michelle Waterson is 'a different person now'

Waterson did not expect to be competing at this event. The main event was supposed to feature Cris "Cyborg" Justino's debut at 135 pounds. But Justino injured her ankle and Waterson was asked to fill in on somewhat short notice. The Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA fighter has become a safety net for the organization and perhaps the face of it after most top fighters in the 135- and 115-pound divisions have moved on to the UFC.

Featherweights Akira Corassani, Sam Sicilia to Clash at UFC on Fox 14 in Stockholm

Akira Corassani will fight on home soil in September. | Jeff Miller/Sherdog.com A featherweight pairing between Akira Corassani and Sam Sicilia has been added to UFC on Fox 14 . Promotion officials announced the bout on Thursday. UFC on Fox 14 takes place at the Tele2Arena in Stockholm on Jan. 24 and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Alexander Gustafsson and Anthony Johnson . The evening’s main card airs on the Fox and also includes another 205-pound matchup pitting Phil Davis against Ryan Bader . A native of Gothenburg, Sweden, Corassani has dropped back-to-back fights to Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway after beginning his Octagon tenure with three consecutive triumphs. The 32-year-old Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu product is 12-5 as a professional overall, with seven victories via decision. Sicilia, meanwhile, has had an up-and-down UFC career since appearing on Season 15 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” The Sikjitsu representative is 3-4 with the Las Vegas-based promotion, most recently submitting to a Katsunori Kikuno rear-naked choke at UFC Fight Night “Hunt vs.

Life After the Octagon: Martin Kampmann and His New Knockout Moves | MMAWeekly.com

Anyone that’s ever played poker at a high level will know that it takes time and dedication to compete with the best. Although luck plays a minor part in determining who comes out on top, it’s the combination of logic, mathematics, psychology and nerves of steel that make a champion. Michelle Waterson Embraces Role as Promotion Centerpiece Ahead of Invicta FC 10

Michelle Waterson is establishing herself as Invicta’s most prominent talent. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com When Michelle Waterson had more than a year-long lull after her upset victory over Jessica Penne , the Jackson-Wink MMA representative would often vent about the lack of activity to her coaches. Greg Jackson’s response: “Be careful what you wish for.” Waterson was frustrated that she was unable to capitalize on the momentum generated by her memorable bout against Penne, a 2013 “Fight of the Year” candidate that earned her the Invicta Fighting Championships atomweight belt. Little did she know how crowded her schedule would eventually become. Just three months after Waterson successfully defended her crown with a third-round technical knockout over Yasuko Tamada on Sept. 5, “The Karate Hottie” has been called into duty again, this time against Herica Tiburcio in the Invicta FC 10 main event on Friday night. It is a headlining spot that was originally intended for Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who was expected to make her bantamweight debut on the card.

‘TUF 20’ Recap: Episode 11

On last week’s episode, Jessica Penne became the season’s second semifinalist with a decision win against Aisling Daly . Tonight, the remaining two quarterfinal bouts will take place when Joanne Calderwood battles Rose Namajunas and Tecia Torres fights Carla Esparza . Torres discusses her Invicta Fighting Championships history with Esparza, which revolves around “Cookie Monster” calling her out following Torres’ victory over Felice Herrig at Invicta FC 7 . Torres has nothing but positive things to say about Esparza’s skills inside the Octagon, but claims she is up for the task. Esparza expected Torres to make it to the show’s finals but didn’t think they would fight because Torres originally lost in the opening round. The 27-year-old credits Sergio Pettis with teaching her a lot and is pleased he will be cornering her for the fight. Esparza plans on taking her opponent to the mat and submitting her. Herb Dean will be overseeing the festivities. The ladies do not touch gloves as the fight kicks off.
