UFC Fight Night 126 ‘Cerrone vs. Medeiros’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round-by-Round Scoring

Donald Cerrone vs. Yancy Medeiros Round 1 Veteran referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight's 170-pound main event, with judges Chris Lee, Marcos Rosales and Nick Wright scoring the bout for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. The welterweights have a friendly hug and a handshake during final instructions, but as soon as the fight begins, Medeiros is swinging for the fences with a big left hand over the top. Cerrone denies Medeiros' first attempt to tie up, so Medeiros spins around with a kick to the right flank of "Cowboy." Medeiros comes over the top with a right hand, gets a kick to the body on the other side. Medeiros switches between stances, taking a few kicks to the body when he stays orthodox for too long. Cerrone pops Medeiros with a hard jab, takes an even harder shot in return, and now Medeiros bites down on his mouthpiece and marches forward. Just when it looks like Cerrone could be overwhelmed by the volume, he drops Medeiros with a right hook counter. Medeiros springs back to his feet with a smile on his face, and the welterweights hug again.

14 wins 9 loses in the UFC. No UFC championship reign or defence. Lost his last fight, hasn’t been in the cage since. Don’t think the guy is as great as people will have you believe. He’s dumb as dog shit and can barely string a sentence together. Overrated in my book.

James Vick is ready to replace Tony Ferguson or Khabib Nurmagomedov if disaster strikes |

On April 7, in the main event of UFC 223, interim UFC lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov will battle for the lightweight title. This fight stands out as one of the biggest and most important in the illustrious history of the UFC lightweight division. Regrettably, it’s also one of the most ill-starred fights in MMA history.

Artem Lobov: UFC 223 Booking Likely Influenced by Teammate Conor McGregor

Last week, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that former “The Ultimate Fighter” contestants Artem Lobov and Alex Caceres would meet in a 145-pound matchup as part of UFC 223 , which is headlined by the interim championship bout between Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov . After the announcement, there was speculation that Lobov was added to the bill by the UFC so that the current lightweight champion -- and Lobov’s SBG Ireland teammate -- Conor McGregor would be in the building to face off against the winner of Ferguson and Nurmagomedov. McGregor has been in attendance for some off Lobov’s previous fights and his presence would definitely add extra spice at the conclusion of the main event when the winner of that bout could potentially square off with the Irishman. Lobov is 2-4 inside the Octagon and is currently on a two-fight losing streak, with his most recent defeat coming via unanimous decision to Andre Fili back in October. Lobov even admitted after that loss that he wouldn’t be surprised if the UFC cut him.

UFC Austin: By the Numbers

If there was any doubt beforehand, there isn’t now: Donald Cerrone still has plenty left in the tank. “Cowboy” got a much-needed victory in the UFC Fight Night 126 headliner in Austin, Texas, on Sunday night, as he scored a knockout of Yancy Medeiros in the waning seconds of the opening round. A right hand to the jaw sent Medeiros tumbling to the ground, and Cerrone sealed the win with follow-up punches on the mat at the 4:58 mark of the period. With the win, Cerrone halts a three-bout skid and sets himself up for more entertaining fights as 2018 progresses. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 126, with statistics courtesy of Related » UFC Austin Round-by-Round Scoring 20: UFC victories for Cerrone, tying him with Georges St. Pierre and Michael Bisping for the most in the history of the Las Vegas-based promotion. ‘Cowboy’ Admits Nerves Were a Factor vs. Medeiros After ‘Pretty Sucky’ Losing Streak

Donald Cerrone did his best to avoid thinking about the three-fight losing streak that followed him into his UFC Fight Night 126 showdown with Yancy Medeiros . However, as one of the UFC’s biggest stars, it was hard for “Cowboy” to go anywhere without being reminded of the recent struggles that saw him drop successive bouts to Jorge Masvidal , Robbie Lawler and Darren Till at 170 pounds. “It was just funny. Everyone kept asking me, ‘How do you feel?’ I don’t even think about it until you guys tell me what a loser I am,” Cerrone said on Fox Sports 1. “We didn’t change anything. We just keep training. The sport’s ups and downs are so crazy. I just felt really good coming in.” That good feeling wasn’t unfounded, as Cerrone sent Medeiros tumbling to the canvas with a right hand to the jaw in the waning moments of round one. Follow-up punches on the ground ended the Jackson-Wink MMA product’s slump at the 4:58 mark. “This was a big nervy one. Losing three in a row, that’s pretty sucky,” Cerrone admitted. “Losing four, do I keep my job? So it’s like, ‘Damn.

James Vick: No One in UFC Lightweight Division Wants to Fight Me

It’s getting more and more difficult to ignore the accomplishments of James Vick . “The Texecutioner” improved to 9-1 at lightweight with a unanimous decision victory over Francisco Trinaldo at UFC Fight Night 126 in Austin, Texas, on Sunday night. Now, Vick wants the recognition he feels he deserves. “I’m 6-foot-3 and I’m a finisher, so no one wants to fight me,” Vick said. “I’m better than anyone in every position whether its grappling or striking. My record is undeniable. You probably can’t name many more people in the UFC that have a better record than I have.” In addition to his victory over Trinaldo, Vick also owns wins over the likes of Joseph Duffy , Abel Trujillo and Jake Matthews in UFC competition. There is still room for improvement for Vick, however. He was unable to deliver the finish he desired against Trinaldo and instead appeared content to cruise to victory down the stretch. Some of that can be attributed to an injury suffered during the fight that may have limited the Texan’s ability to throw punches.

Conor McGregor ‘Happy’ That Floyd Mayweather is ‘Out of These Fight Negotiations’

I am happy for Floyd and his recent announcement that he is out of these current fight negotiations. It is the reason I never seeked the rematch in the first place. I was happy for him in retirement. My game is a very unforgiving one. It is not like other games. I understand completely him staying retired. I will now carry on in my negotiations and see where it goes. Have a great retirement Junior. Now come here and give your old man a hug for old times sake. I'm proud of you son. Yours truly, Senior.

Max Holloway expertly mocked Conor McGregor's trip down memory lane

This was just moments after I tore my ACL in a fight in Boston Massachusetts. It was when I faced off against the current featherweight champion Max Holloway, who I dismantled before and after this ligament tear, to win a lopsided victory. It was father against son in there that night in just my second UFC bout. Young Max is a hell of a fighter, I wonder what the future holds for my young Uce. Ligaments are needed in a fight definitely. Some can fight on however, where as some can not. I always think there are moments in your career that can make you or break you. I have had many in my storied career and this was most certainly one of them. God bless. Boston Strong 🍀

After flyweight title, Valentina Shevchenko already eyes 'revenge' with Amanda Nunes

If the expected happens and that title fight is next, the circumstances around it will be unique. While Montano certainly earned her stripes, beating her fellow “TUF 27” castmates to become the division’s inaugural champ , Shevchenko is certainly the most recognizable face of the two fighters – not to mention the most battle-tested one; with wins over ex-bantamweight-champ Holly Holm and “TUF” winner and contender Julianna Pena, Shevchenko’s only octagon losses were in two close fights with Nunes in the upper division.
