Shortly after his thrilling return to action, the Korean featherweight took to Twitter to explain his apparent lack of ring rust. UFC Fight Night 104 play-by-play and live results

Round 3 – Rawlings has some work to do and probably needs to get a finish to get her hand raised. They trade lefts in the first 20 seconds, and both fighters look pretty fresh after 10 minutes. Torres puts together back-to-back combinations, but then has to back up from some Rawlings offense. Someone in the crowd yells something, apparently directed at Rawlings, and in the middle of the action, “Rowdy” Bec flips the fan off. Can’t say you see that every day. Torres clips Rawlings’ left leg with a kick and stumbles her for a moment. We’ll see if she goes back there again. Not long after, she does. Rawlings tries a Superman punch with two minutes left, but it’s not there. Torres goes back after Rawlings’ left leg again, but Rawlings pushes her to the fence. Torres works out of it, though, and puts Rawlings on the canvas and lands a couple punches there. When Rawlings gets up, Torres drags her back down with a minute left. She’ll try for the choke finish, but she’s not in a great spot after Rawlings wriggles out. Rawlings is on top late, but she doesn’t have anything to offer before the horn.

UFC Fight Night 104 ‘Bermudez vs. Korean Zombie’ Results: Play-by-Play & Updates

Bec Rawlings vs. Tecia Torres Round 1 Torres opens with kicks to the legs and body of Rawlings, who misses with her first few combinations. Torres steps inside to land a pair of punches, backs out of the pocket before Rawlings can counter, and now the "Tiny Tornado" comes back to hit Rawlings with another punch and a body kick. Rawlings partially blocks a head kick but takes a few steps backward after absorbing the strike. Torres continues to pile on the low kicks through the center of the round, her constant movement keeping her clear of most, if not all of Rawlings' punches. The left hook is working for Torres, too, reddening the right side of Rawlings' face. Rawlings attacks with a Thai clinch and hits Torres with a few knees to the body before Torres peels away. Body kicks are Torres' best weapon down the stretch, keeping the taller Rawlings out of punching range for all but a few successful strikes. Sherdog Scores Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Torres Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Torres Mike Sloan scores the round 10-9 Torres Round 2 Rawlings sprints out of her corner and charges Torres at the start of the round, but Torres stays out of danger and lands a few body kicks off her back foot.

Anderson Silva: 5 Defining Moments

From the second he set foot inside the Ultimate Fighting Championship , Anderson Silva was a game-changer; and those unfamiliar with his exploits soon became aware of them. Silva had already captured titles in Shooto and Cage Rage and beaten the likes of Roan Carneiro , Hayato Sakurai , Carlos Newton , Lee Murray and Jeremy Horn by the time he reached the Octagon at the age of 31 in June 2006. He was immediately hailed as a “different kind of striker” by UFC analyst Joe Rogan, and those words proved prophetic if not understated. Silva went on to capture the middleweight championship in his second UFC appearance and enjoyed a historic stay atop the 185-pound weight class. He has banked 13 post-fight performance bonuses and set countless records, including those for most consecutive victories (16), most title defenses (10), most knockdowns landed (18) and longest title reign (2,457 days). Silva remains active -- he will meet Derek Brunson in the UFC 208 co-main event on Feb. 11 -- as he approaches his 42nd birthday, even though Father Time has grown less and less kind to him.

Chan Sung Jung’s Successful Return Could Propel UFC Back to Korea for Future Event

There was some doubt as to how Chan Sung Jung would perform in his first Octagon appearance in more than three years. And after Dennis Bermudez wobbled “The Korean Zombie” with an overhand right within the first minute of their featherweight headliner at UFC Fight Night 104 in Houston on Saturday, it appeared those concerns were justified. Even Jung himself admitted to having some doubts as he shook off the ring rust an extended absence tends to bring. “I definitely felt that way, especially at the beginning,” Jung said on Fox Sports 1. “I was thinking to myself, ‘Oh man, I’m not moving the way I remembered or expected.’ But after I loosened up, things went OK.” Actually, they went better than OK. Once Jung recovered, he didn’t take long to strike the decisive blow, as he slipped a Bermudez jab and dropped his opponent with a counter right uppercut. A couple follow-up punches on the ground sealed the victory at the 2:49 mark of round one, re-establishing the popular fighter as a person of interest at 145 pounds. “I was very nervous walking into the arena.

UFC Fight Night Prelims: Ugly Adam Milstead Knee Injury Makes Curtis Blaydes Winner

Adam Milstead may need assistance to walk for a while. The King of the Cage veteran suffered a gruesome injury to his right knee, making a winner of Elevation Fight Team rep Curtis Blaydes in the featured UFC Fight Night 104 “Korean Zombie vs. Bermudez” prelim on Saturday at the Toyota Center in Houston. Milstead (8-2, 1-1 UFC) bowed out 59 seconds into Round 2, as he was left writhing on the mat. Replays had members of the audience squirming in their seats. Blaydes (7-1, 2-1 UFC) was dominant from start to finish. He executed repeated takedowns -- three of them of the thunderous variety -- in the first round, battered Milstead with ground-and-pound and kept him confined to close-quarters engagements. Milstead appeared to wince in pain during one of the takedowns but nevertheless returned for middle stanza. It was a mistake. Blaydes again closed the distance and swooped in for a takedown. Milstead’s right knee buckled under the strain, prompting an immediate stoppage. By the Numbers: UFC Houston

“The Korean Zombie” has risen yet again. Shaking off a three-plus year hiatus, Chan Sung Jung stepped right back into the featherweight mix with a first-round knockout of Dennis Bermudez in the UFC Fight Night 104 headliner in Houston on Saturday. After getting wobbled in an early exchange, Jung slipped a Bermudez jab and then floored his foe with a perfectly-placed uppercut. A few follow-up blows on the ground sealed the victory 2:29 into the opening frame, signaling that Jung is still a force to be reckoned with at 145 pounds. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 104 “Korean Zombie vs. Bermudez,” with statistics courtesy of FightMetric.com. Opinion: The Ghosts of Pay-Per-Views Past

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of Sherdog.com, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. * * * It's Super Bowl week. In the past, that meant the Ultimate Fighting Championship would be rolling out some of its biggest stars this weekend. In the present, the UFC's biggest stars on Super Bowl weekend are ghosts, just memories in pronouncements from Dana White . This Saturday, in Super Bowl 51's host city of Houston, the UFC will indeed have an event , but even with the return of “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and how truly exciting that is, his headliner against Dennis Bermudez and the card below it is not in the mold of the UFC pay-per-views from Super Bowl weekends gone by. This is not a surprise, as even under Zuffa ownership, the weekend of the “Big Game” was de-emphasized over the last few years; a contingent of fans thought UFC 183, headlined by the ill-fated Anderson Silva - Nick Diaz clash, was generally a step down based on years gone by.

In less than 14 months, Valentina Shevchenko has put herself on the map among the pound-for-pound elite, and now she's headed for an Ultimate Fighting Championship title shot. Shevchenko pulled out a sweet second-round armbar to tap fellow pound-for-pound entrant Julianna Pena in the UFC on Fox 23 main event on Jan. 28 in Denver. “Bullet” is now 3-1 since entering the UFC in December 2015, with increasingly impressive wins over Sarah Kaufman , Holly Holm and now Pena. With her latest conquest, she rises to No. 4 in these rankings. More importantly, her win over Pena sets up a rematch with the only woman to beat her in the Octagon: UFC women's bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes, our No. 2-ranked pound-for-pound fighter. The Ronda Rousey era is over, and she's gone from this list; The Nunes-Shevchenko rivalry may be what takes the women's bantamweight division into its next great era.
