UFC 184 results, photos: Ronda Rousey needs just 14 seconds to tap Cat Zingano

Rousey (11-0 MMA, 5-0 UFC), 28, finished her opponent even faster than in her previous title defense, a 16-second railroading of Alexis Davis this past July. It was her 11th straight win and ninth via armbar, which she applied as Zingano (9-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) charged her in the opening seconds of UFC 184’s headliner.

“I’m so happy right now that I’m only going to take 15 minutes off from training and get right back in the gym,” Lazaro said. “I know I still have a lot of things to work on and I need to be more technical. I’m going to talk to my coach right now to discuss this fight and other areas where I can improve, then I’ll take whatever the UFC has lined up for me after that.”

By the Numbers: UFC 184

Ronda Rousey needed only 14 seconds. | Photo: Harry How/UFC/Zuffa/Getty Ronda Rousey continues to raise the bar -- or apply it, if you prefer. The women’s bantamweight champion barely broke a sweat in the UFC 184 headliner, tapping out Cat Zingano with an armbar 14 seconds into the first round at Staples Center in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Olympic judoka only grows more efficient with each Octagon appearances, and the list of potential challengers is growing thinner by the month. With such a dominant champion comes plenty of statistical superlatives. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC 184, with statistics courtesy of FightMetric.com. Related » Instant Reaction: UFC 184 14: Seconds needed by Rousey to submit Zingano with an armbar in the first round of the bantamweight title encounter. That is the fastest submission in modern Ultimate Fighting Championship history, surpassing Marcus Aurelio ’s 16-second submission of Ryan Roberts at UFC Fight Night “Florian vs. Lauzon” in April 2008.

UFC 184 results, photos: Roan Carneiro puts Mark Munoz to sleep with wicked choke

Carneiro stuffed a shot from Munoz (13-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC) and used that to work to improve his position, eventually moving to take Munoz’s back before quickly slipping his arm under the chin and locking in the rear-naked choke. From there he squeezed until Munoz was unconscious, holding the submission until the referee jumped in to make the save for the technical submission win.

UFC 184 results, photos: Masio Fullen tops Alexander Torres with split decision in slugfest

But Fullen eventually fired back with a counter right that was on the money. Seconds later, a head kick from Fullen was just about on the money, and Torres tried to bring the fight to the floor. Torres again hurt Fullen, then went after him as Fullen fell backward to the fence. But FUllen stayed in the fight, and in a wild exchange, it was Fullen who brought the fight to the canvas and was on top with more than a minute left in the round. They went back to their feet with 30 seconds left in the round, then again swung for the fences.

2015 Bloody Elbow MMA Scouting Report #1 Welterweight: Kamarudeen Usman

It really seems like the sky is the limit with this kid. Both I and Zane fully expect him to contend for the UFC Welterweight title at some point in his career, and very possibly hold the belt for extended period of time. Usman looks like he is already an elite MMA wrestler and is ready to feast on some UFC prelim fights and if his current rate of skill progression holds steady he will be a Top 5 fighter. His career path could be something of what would-have-been if Yoel Romero had started his career 10 years ago. Usman could end up being very similar to his Blackzilian teammate Anthony Johnson . If everything clicks for Usman as he moves forward he could experience a rise that would bring out Jon Jones comparisons.

UFC 184 Prelims: Quick Roan Carneiro Choke Renders Mark Munoz Unconscious

Roan Carneiro could not have been more impressive. Returning the Ultimate Fighting Championship for the first time in more than six years, Carneiro left Reign MMA standout Mark Munoz unconscious with a first-round rear-naked choke at UFC 184 “Rousey vs. Zingano” on Saturday at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Munoz (13-6, 8-6 UFC) passed out 1:40 into round one. Carneiro (20-9, 3-3 UFC) dragged the 2001 NCAA wrestling champion to the mat under the threat of a guillotine choke, moved to side control and transitioned to the back during the subsequent scramble. He secured the choke and then his hooks, squeezing until the room went dark on Munoz. Anchored at an American Top Team affiliate in Atlanta, Carneiro has pieced together a six-fight winning streak, five of them finishes. Related » UFC 184 Play-by-Play and Results Eye Poke Results in Yamamoto-Salazar No-Contest The second of two incidental eye pokes from Norifumi Yamamoto brought a premature end to his preliminary bantamweight matchup with Roman Salazar . Referee John McCarthy called for the stoppage 2:37 into round two -- the result was a no-contest -- after Salazar informed him he could not see out of his left eye.
