Yes, I could. Short of unethically showing you group conversations, I can tell you they chose a "union for a few fighters" path. A union model doesn't fit MMA and fighting for it divides us as a class. Asking questions is fine, but advocating against our goal in our group is not

I disagree with your characterization of mmafa's responses to questions and responses to some parties' press discourse as well as the press's own attitude toward the association as 'actively attacking' others. From what I see there is strong, selective bias against the MMAFA.

The Hit List: NCAA Division I Wrestling Champions Who Have Competed in MMA

Brock Lesnar broke into the Ultimate Fighting Championship with enough flair, hype and anticipation that the public believed he was made for mixed martial arts and not just World Wrestling Entertainment. Although he lost his UFC debut to Frank Mir , the man who runs “Suplex City” went on to rattle off four straight wins and become the undisputed heavyweight champion. Before his time in the UFC or the WWE, Lesnar was a two-time NCAA All-American wrestler at the University of Minnesota, where he won a national title in 2000. He is part of an exclusive group as one of a handful of wrestlers to win a national championship at the Division I level and compete in MMA: Brock Lesnar MMA Record: 5-3 College(s): University of Minnesota Championship Year(s): 2000 *** Johny Hendricks MMA Record: 18-8 College(s): Oklahoma State University Championship Year(s): 2005, 2006 *** Mark Munoz MMA Record: 14-6 College(s): Oklahoma State University Championship Year(s): 2001 *** Ph

5 Things You Might Not Know About Ben Askren

“Funky” suits both Ben Askren ’s hairstyle and his style of fighting. His rugged grace in the cage was a product of years of competing as an amateur wrestler. Askren’s name echoes across the mixed martial arts world as one of the few high-level fighters to retire undefeated, this despite having never appeared in the Ultimate Fighting Championship . The 33-year-old compiled an 18-0 record and fought for the final time at One Championship “Immortal Pursuit” on Nov. 24, when he defeated Shinya Aoki by technical knockout in under a minute. Here are five things you might not know about Askren: 1. He was a multiple-time NCAA wrestling champion. Askren won Division I titles in 2006 and 2007 while representing the University of Missouri. He was also a four-time NCAA All-American (2004-07), a three-time Big XII Conference champion (2004, 2006-07), a two-time national runner-up (2004-05) and a two-time winner of the Dan Hodge Trophy (2006-07), which recognizes the nation’s top wrestler. Askren was inducted into the University of Missouri Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.

Amanda Nunes Headlines UFC 224, but She's Fighting Raquel Pennington, Not Cris Cyborg

With Cyborg having fought three times in the past seven months, most recently at last week’s UFC 222, asking her to return at UFC 224 on May 12 was a bridge too far. Though the UFC could have held off and made the bout for UFC 225 or UFC 226, they needed a suitable headliner for UFC 224 and Nunes had already agreed to fight Raquel Pennington on May 12, so it appears they are moving forward as originally planned.

Bisping, though, is not on the card at UFC Fight Night 127, meaning he has yet to book a fight for what he this past fall said would be his final bout. Options abound for “The Count,” but the one that keeps getting brought up the most is a trilogy fight with a heated rival.

Paige VanZant Expects to be Back in 6 Months Following Arm Injury

Paige VanZant is currently on the mend after suffering a broken arm in her last fight inside the Octagon against Jessica-Rose Clark at UFC Fight Night 124 back in January. VanZant (7-4) suffered the break early in the fight -- her first at 125 pounds -- but ended up losing the bout by unanimous decision. After the contest, VanZant shared the x-ray via Twitter of the nasty break which required surgery, a plate and screws to hold the bone in place while it heals. Well... I broke my arm in the first! I was able to finish the fight but as you can see, had a hard recovering and throwing my right. I’ll be back better and stronger than ever! it’s all apart of the fight game. God had other plans for me. darn spinning back fist. — Paige VanZant (@PaigeVanzantUFC) January 15, 2018 “12 Gauge” recently talked with TMZ about her recovery and how she is busy keeping fit for a return later in the year (via ): “I have a plate and seven screws in there -- it’s still broken. Norman Parke-Lukasz Chlewicki Lightweight Bout Added to April's KSW 43 Card in Wroclaw

Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki continues to build out its forthcoming card, adding another lightweight bout to its next bill this week. Friday, Poland’s preeminent MMA company announced that KSW 43 will feature a 155-pound contest between recent promotional title challenger Norman Parke and Polish veteran Lukasz Chlewicki . KSW 43 is scheduled for April 14 at Centennial Hall in Wroclaw, Poland, headlined by Olympic wrestling bronze medalist squaring off with Yannick Bahati . Parke, 30, is fresh off a highly controversial two-fight series with KSW lightweight champion Mateusz Gamrot . In their first confrontation this past May, “Stormin’ Norman” dropped a contentious unanimous verdict to “Gamer,” which led to a rematch at KSW 40 in October. In the second go-around, after missing weight, was repeatedly eye poked by Gamrot, leading referee Marc Goddard to declare a No Contest in the second round After the bout officially ended, things got uglier as one of Gamrot’s cornermen, Marcin Bilman , sucker punched Parke and was subsequently banned from future cornering by the promotion.

Referee John McCarthy Believes Jon Jones Didn’t Intentionally Take PEDs

Renowned mixed martial arts referee John McCarthy has joined California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer Andy Foster in publicly stating that he believes Jon Jones did not knowingly take any performance enhancing drugs. McCarthy, who is now a commentator with Bellator MMA , appeared on MMA Junkie radio recently and gave his thoughts on the situation, including Jones’ successful polygraph test he took in December to help clear his name: “When he took the lie-detector test, I believe that Jon didn’t knowingly take a pill or take a shot or injection for that steroid, but I do believe he’s taking things or allowing himself to ingest things that, for whatever reason, that sometimes contain these things, because he’s taking them from places that there is no quality assurance.” McCarthy said. While McCarthy believes Jones didn’t intentionally take a banned substance, he said as a professional athlete, Jones is still responsible for what goes into his body. “When you’re an athlete making the amount of money that Jon is making, you can’t go to the AM-PM and buy something that’s in pill form and put that in your mouth without going, ‘What the (expletive) are you doing?” “I say he’s the greatest MMA fighter I’ve ever seen.

Breen: Bellator’s Checkered Bridge to Nowhere

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. * * * Bellator MMA has a problem. A big one. Granted, it’s a problem about which only the sport’s most dedicated and fastidious fight watchers would ever possibly care, but it’s a gross problem nonetheless. The promotion this week “bolstered” -- and I use quotation marks for a reason -- its lineup for Bellator 200 with a rematch between Roy Nelson and Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic . This in and of itself is a farce. In fact, given the aged and deteriorated state of a man who was once MMA’s most saintly striker, I will forgive you for not even realizing this is the second encounter between the two, as “Big Country” floored and punched out “Cro Cop” seven years ago. However, star power dies hard, and it dies the hardest in MMA. As I type these words, the company is actively finagling to have Chuck Liddell fight Tito Ortiz for a third time.

5 Defining Moments: The UFC-Fox TV Deal

The Ultimate Fighting Championship inked a seven-year deal with network television giant Fox on Aug. 28, 2011. The UFC was gaining ground and had built its popularity by showcasing mixed martial arts to audiences around the world. As part of the agreement, Fox held the rights to four live UFC events per year, along with other shows like “Road to the Octagon,” UFC Fight Night and “The Ultimate Fighter.” The programs would air on various Fox properties, including Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, Fuel TV and FX. With the contract set to expire at the end of 2018, the question now centers on whether or not the UFC will stick with Fox or find another broadcast partner. The UFC-Fox relationship has produced plenty of defining moments. Here are five of them: 1. The Debut Despite being a one-hour show, UFC on Fox 1 became the most-watched mixed martial arts event in history, as 8.8 million viewers tuned in on Nov. 12, 2011. It featured a heavyweight title bout between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos , with the latter knocking out Velasquez in just 64 seconds.

“I’m not sure we’re going to see Nick again, but I definitely think we are going to see Nate Diaz. I think it’s interesting when you talk about him as a pay-per-view draw. What do the internal metrics say about how much Nate Diaz moves that needle relative to his opponent (in his first two pay-per-view main events), Conor McGregor? … I think Nate Diaz can carry a pay-per-view and do 400,000-plus pay-per-view buys on his own. I really do. Even in a non-championship situation. I don’t know if my bosses agree, but I’d love to see him be afforded that opportunity.”

USADA Shows Mercy on Ion Cutelaba; UFC Light Heavyweight Sidelined for Six Months |

Based on Cutelaba’s doping control paperwork, USADA contacted the athlete to request more information about the route of administration in order to establish whether the treatment was permissible. Cutelaba’s physician subsequently provided documentation indicating that the treatment was administered on October 3, 2017, and October 17, 2017, in a prohibited manner, as it involved a blood transfusion. The WADA Prohibited List prohibits the administration or reintroduction of blood or red blood cell products of any origin or quantity in the circulatory system, unless a valid Therapeutic Use Exemption has been obtained. While Cutelaba was unaware of the violation and declared the treatment on his doping control paperwork, he was unable to refute the documentation provided.
