Adriano Moraes ready to prove himself 'true champion' at ONE Championship 25

“The trips to Asia are very difficult, starting with the very long flights,” Moraes said. “I arrive one week ahead of time and try to adapt to the new time zone as soon as possible. Another challenge is making the weight. But I’m getting used to it, so it should be less of an obstacle. I trained at Constrictor Team in Brasilia, where I live. I also did my camp at American Top Team, in November and December. The only significant change was my muay Thai instructor, Rodrigo Aguiar. He was away for some time, but he came back to train me again. I was very happy to see him back. Ataide Junior is my head coach. Rani Yahya is my jiu-jitsu coach.

UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos - Idiot's Guide Preview to Roy Nelson vs. Alistair Overeem

Nelson has faced some pretty stiff competition lately, so he's unsurprisingly 1-3 in that span. For as much grief as he gives Dana with his attitude, one might worry that another loss would send him packing despite being better than most of the division. However, this is a good fight for Nelson to succeed. Hunt be a deadly kickboxer like Overeem, but the men are worlds apart when it comes to in-cage demeanor. I don't think Nelson is getting chinny; Hunt landed a perfect shot. But except for the Nog fight, he's taken some serious punishment against Cormier, and Miocic as well so it's worth nothing all the same.

Johny Hendricks chooses to change his lifestyle to stay at welterweight

"I'm the guy that, when it's the offseason, I want to have fun, I want to get away. But I don't have that luxury. I only have so long I can fight for, right? Do I want to look back and say I lived my life fun, but I could've accomplished so much more in the three or four years, whatever I got left? Would I rather say, ‘hey, I got to where I want to be, I'm satisfied with that, I'll be comfortable with that?' No. I want to be the champion. I want to remain the champion. And I'd like to go out as being the champion.

UFC Vet Alexis Dufresne Among Additions to Bellator Women’s Featherweight Roster

Alexis Dufresne struggled to make 135 pounds in the UFC. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Alexis Dufresne ’s troubles on the scale should be a thing of the past in Bellator MMA . Dufresne, who was cut from the UFC after missing weight ahead of her first two Octagon appearances, is one of three new additions to Bellator’s women’s featherweight division. Roberta Paim Rovel and Iony Razafiarison will also join the promotion’s 145-pound roster. Bellator announced the signings via press release on Thursday. Debuts for the three fighters will be announced at a later date. Dufresne suffered back-to-back losses to Sarah Moras and Marion Reneau while competing in the UFC’s bantamweight division. Those setbacks, along with the weight-cutting issues, led to the Las Vegas-based promotion severing ties with the 24-year-old Team Quest representative. Prior to her UFC foray, “Sneaky Zebra” went 5-0 on the regional circuit, with all of her triumphs coming inside of a round. A native of Rio de Janeiro, Paim is 4-0 as a professional.

Frankie Edgar: Drop to 135 lbs 'doable', but taking Jose Aldo's UFC title 'would be more rewarding'

"I think Aldo holds that mystique as he has been on top for so long. If I can be the guy who takes it from him, that would be more rewarding," he states. "Right now, a featherweight title shot (would appeal more than one at bantamweight). It's the weight class I'm in, and I was very close to getting that title a couple of years back, so I want another crack at it."

Complete Guide to UFC 185

This title tilt isn't going the distance. Pettis is going to brutalize the challenger in a variety of ways before getting a TKO finish early. Pettis has filthy leg kicks, which will stifle dos Anjos in the opening minutes, and then Pettis will flatten him once he becomes a stationary target.

UFC 185's Josh Copeland was blind in one eye for weeks after last bout

It turns out that Mogomedov did more than stun the American with a kick, he damaged an eye and Copeland fought the rest of the bout with just one fully functioning eye. What's more, Copeland said the damage was such that he was blinded in one eye for weeks after the contest.

23 Copeland Looking For His First UFC Win

Soft-spoken and beyond deferential to his opponents, UFC heavyweight Josh Copeland couldn’t have a more fitting nickname than “Cuddly Bear.” In fact, you can expect a big smile on his cherubic face when he greets his friend and future training partner Jared Rosholt inside the Octagon at UFC 183 in Dallas’ American Airlines Center on Saturday night. “It would be huge to get my first win in the UFC,” he said. “It’s a dream to be here, but it’s hard to stay here. I don’t plan on getting this far in MMA and losing a couple of fights and getting cut. That’s not what I want for me and my family. But that’s what sucks about fighting Jared. It’s a win-win and a lose-lose, because my plan is to train with him at Team Takedown. If Jared wins I’m going to be happy for him but sad for me, and if I win I’m going to feel bad that he had to lose to me but happy that I get my first W in the UFC. But this is our job and we have to do what we have to do.” Copeland, a stocky, shorter guy in the weight class, has excellent boxing as a result of his training with renowned striking coach Trevor Wittman in Colorado.

Lorenzo Fertitta: UFC Will Hold 4 Events Per Year in New York if MMA Legalized

Lorenzo Fertitta has big plans for New York. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Once again, mixed martial arts is on the brink of legalization in New York. If the dream does indeed become reality, UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta has big plans in store for the Empire State. On Thursday, Fertitta praised the Business Council of New York State for issuing a ”memo in support” of a bill to legalize MMA. According to the memo, “legalizing professional MMA will generate up to 950 jobs and $135 million in annual economic activity across the state of New York.” “I want to thank the leadership of the Business Council for recognizing that legalizing MMA in New York – the last place in North America where professional MMA is illegal – would provide a new economic boost to New York,” Fertitta said in a release. “As the Business Council recognizes in its memo, legalizing and regulating MMA in New York ‘will bring much needed economic activity to New York’s sports and entertainment venues, hospitality industry and generate additional revenues for the state and local governments.

28 The 'Detroit Superstar' Firing On All Cylinders

Daron “Detroit Superstar” Cruickshank understands the fight business as well as any veteran in the game, and coming into his UFC 185 bout against Jiu-Jitsu specialist Beneil Dariush, his outlook is all confidence in both his fight game and his showmanship. “My basic mindset when I get into the Octagon is ‘this is a fight,’ sure, but I also understand that I want to put on a show,” he said. “If my opponent is going to kick me in the leg, I’m not only going to kick him back in the leg, I’m going to kick him in the head. I’m always going to one-up him. I’m always going to try to go for that bonus too. I’m going to do everything I can to finish my opponent. And as long as I do that, I know I’m going to be exciting. I know that I’m going to be the guy to watch. And if I continue in that mindset, not only will I win fights, I will have a career I can be proud of.” Indeed, Cruickshank has much to already be proud of. And even though the wily veteran got off to a rough start when he competed on The Ultimate Fighter 15 in March 2012, these days he’s hit his stride and is running at full speed in his chosen profession.

Middleweights Sam Alvey, Daniel Kelly to Meet at UFC Fight Night on May 10

Sam Alvey is always smiling. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com It appears that Sam Alvey will get his wish. Alvey will lock horns with Daniel Kelly at UFC Fight Night in Adelaide, Australia, on May 10. UFC officials recently confirmed the middleweight bout following an initial report from news.com.au . The card takes place at Adelaide Entertainment Centre and is headlined by a heavyweight showdown between Mark Hunt and Stipe Miocic . Following a first-round knockout win over Cezar Ferreira on Feb. 22, “Smilie’N” Sam requested a matchup with Kelly in a post-fight interview. The 28-year-old former Maximum Fighting Championship titlist dropped his Octagon debut to Tom Watson , but has since posted back-to-back victories over Dylan Andrews and Ferreira. An Olympic judoka, Kelly improved his MMA ledger to 9-0 with a lackluster unanimous decision against Patrick Walsh at UFC Fight Night “Henderson vs. Thatch” on Feb. 14. The 37-year-old Melbourne native debuted in the Octagon with a first-round submission of Luke Zachrich last November.

Anthony Pettis: In my head I'm already the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world

"These guys are coming to bring it.  This is the toughest, most talented, stacked division.  To be the king of that and to run that division means something.  Jon Jones deserves to be where he's at, he's killing it, no one seems to be even close to where he is.  I have a year to plead my case to be the best pound-for-pound fighter."
