5 Things You Might Not Know About Darren Till

As an undefeated welterweight on the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster, Darren Till finds himself on the verge of stardom. His rousing stoppage of Donald Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 118 put him on the map and has the confident Englishman on the hunt for bigger prey, including Rafael dos Anjos . As “The Gorilla” moves closer and closer to a potential title shot inside the Octagon, here are five things you might not know about him: 1. He butters his bread with muay Thai. Till started his muay Thai training at the age of 12 and turned professional three years later. He claims a kickboxing record of 44-0 with 33 knockouts. Till also holds the rank of purple belt in Luta Livre, a Brazilian martial art that mixes catch wrestling, judo and striking with the hands, feet, knees and elbows. 2. He turns defense into offense. FightMetric statistics speak to Till’s defensive abilities. In compiling 4-0-1 record in the UFC, he has successfully defended 82 percent of the takedowns and 62 percent of the significant strikes attempted against him. Meanwhile, Till has landed 52 percent of his significant strikes and connects with 3.

Fabricio Werdum Wary of Alexander Volkov’s Dangerous Striking Game

Fabricio Werdum will face off against Alexander Volkov Saturday at UFC Fight Night 127 inside London’s O2 Arena. The former heavyweight champion Werdum (23-1, 1 NC) has won two straight fights inside the Octagon and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Marcin Tybura back in November. Meanwhile, Volkov (29-6) is riding a five-fight win streak with his last victory coming against Stefan Struve . He dispatched the giant Dutchman by TKO in the third round in September. Werdum spoke with A G Fight about his opponent Volkov and is well aware of the threat the Russian possesses in the striking game (via Bloody Elbow ): “Volkov is a really dangerous guy. He has been showing that not only in the UFC, but for a while now. He was a Bellator MMA champion, if I’m not mistaken. He’s great reach and is really, really tall. He’s a real heavyweight. He has great muay Thai, but lacks ground skills. You can’t compare his stand-up with his grappling. His striking is very refined, so you must be careful. I’ll fight smart, because he’s a good fighter.” Werdum has trained with Volkov in the past although he won’t be basing his game plan solely on what he learnt about the Russian in those weeks they spent together.

Jose Aldo: Frankie Edgar fighting Brian Ortega on late notice was 'biggest mistake'

“It’s a new generation that’s coming in,” Aldo told Brazil’s “Giro Combate” show. “Age comes for everyone, and it’s normal to have this sort of rotation. To me, it wasn’t (surprising). I just thought it was a mistake on Edgar’s end to fight (Ortega), who’s a very tough guy. He would have fought for the title, risked that and lost. Now he’s all the way back there again.

Michael Bisping again teases trilogy fight with fellow ex-UFC champ Luke Rockhold

Bisping, though, is not on the card at UFC Fight Night 127, meaning he has yet to book a fight for what he this past fall said would be his final bout. Options abound for “The Count,” but the one that keeps getting brought up the most is a trilogy fight with a heated rival.

Georges St-Pierre Fighting for Legacy, Insists Conor McGregor Doesn't Fit the Bill |

“I mean, money-wise, for people who are not huge fans of MMA, they know who Conor McGregor is. He’s the main guy. He’s the guy who brought the sport to a different level. He’s, I would say, is the most charismatic guy. He sells, the biggest seller in the sport. But talk about legacy, if I come back I want it for legacy, that’s what interests me the most, more than the money. Money, yes, it’s good, but if I come back, it would be more for a legacy match.”

Why Georges St-Pierre vs. Conor McGregor definitely will happen, according to Chael Sonnen

“I know that George would do it. He’s made that clear. And I also know contrary to what some fans will say about, ‘Well, what wait class? You can only ask Conor to go up so much.’ George will go down,” Sonnen said. “Now that it has come out that Conor talked to Dana and wanted to do a 165-pound fight, George will go down to 165. I’ll speak for him. I’ll tell you he for sure will. I’m not speaking for him; he shared that with me. But I will pass it on to you. He will go to 165 if it means Conor.”

Santiago Ponzinibbio expects UFC-Chile headliner, prefers Stephen Thompson or Donald Cerrone

“Not many guys like to fight in other’s towns, but Cerrone will do it,” Ponzinibbio said. “For this reason I think Cerrone is a very good option. I know he will fight anyone in any country. I have six victories in a row, I have big knockouts, and I deserve to fight guys in the top five. But if I don’t have that fight it’s OK, because Cerrone will be very exciting for the fans.”

Jose Aldo unsure of future after UFC contract ends, but dream is 'to get the title back'

“As soon as the contract ends, I’ll decide whether we go to boxing or stay in MMA,” Aldo told Brazil’s “Giro Combate” show. “But my dream, right now, is to get the title back. That’s what I’m focused on. That’s what I’m talking to (head coach Dede Pederneiras) about.

Georges St-Pierre Believes Ben Askren is One of the Best, but Won't Fight Him |

“Ben Askren, I don’t understand why he’s not in UFC, because he’s one of the best welterweights in the world. I think it has to do with maybe a problem that he has with Dana White, but he’s one of the best fighters in the world. And if there’s a guy that in my career, for my legacy, that would have been good to fight, it would have been Ben Askren, because he beat everybody. He beat all the guys in Bellator. He beat all the champions outside of the UFC,” St-Pierre on The MMA Hour . “But unfortunately, I think he had a fallout with Dana and he never had the chance to fight in the UFC. And therefore, his stock never went to the value that it’s supposed to be at.”
