Unless you’re Conor
McGregor , Holly Holm or
an immediate ally to either of the recently deposed champions,
UFC
196 was a rousing success.
UFC President Dana
White should be included in that joyed bunch, but instead, it’s
just the opposite, with White taking most of the week to grouse
like a jilted lover. Do you want to be an f’n
promoter?
Here’s the deal: I’m sympathetic to the fact that the UFC’s hottest
star was choked out by an antisocial albeit thrilling cult hero, as
well as the fact that Holm losing to Miesha Tate
alters the narrative of a Holm- Ronda
Rousey rematch. In reality, those sweating these outcomes like
catastrophes are playing themselves, focusing on marginal loss over
massive gain, White included.
Let’s consider each of these outcomes and the associated
handwringing into which the UFC’s figurehead has fully played.

Stories from the Road: Bruce Buffer - No Place Like Home
His heaven is an octagon, its rising black cyclone fence and foam
padding his sanctuary, his sandbox, his theater. It’s where no one
can touch him and where he touches millions, where he’s never
deterred. Neither a blown-out balloon of a knee, nor or a raging,
spittle-flying 250-pound menace, nor a ritualistic slap in the face
can stop him in there. It’s where the world knows him. From his
trademark “It’s Time” catchphrase and his leap to his wacky body
gyrations and his energy and passion, his widespread appeal has
grown from the condo-living jeans-and-T-shirt crowd and the
tattooed lot to the pinky-out, café au lait-sipping sculptures that
sit at sidewalk tables in rattan bistro chairs thinking they live
in Paris.
Bruce Buffer is part of that pioneering troupe that made believers.
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s iconic ring announcer carries
a larger-than-life personality and to a large extent is one of the
faces that made the sport. He was there when mixed martial arts was
at its nascent stage, there at the nadir when he was in front of
half-empty arenas, auditoriums and closet gyms yelling names above
the din of crickets.

Invicta FC 16 Results: Play-by-Play, Updates & Round-by-Round Scoring
Ashley
Greenway vs. Sarah
Click
Round 1
Greenway switches from southpaw to orthodox as she inches forward
on Click, who bounces on her toes and swings heavy right hooks to
keep her opponent out of range. Click flashes a high kick, lands a
jab behind it and then an inside leg kick. Still very measured,
cautious striking from both women as they hit the midway point of
round one. Greenway lands an inside leg kick, tries to walk in
behind it and gets swept out of the pocket with a right hand. Click
pushes Greenway backward, then waits for her to bounce off the
fence and sends a pair of punches down the center. Another right
hand gets the attention of Greenway in the final minute, and a
clean left hook reddens her face in the closing seconds of the
round. 10-9 Click.
Round 2
Greenway finds some success with leg kicks as the second frame
begins, but her punches are still being picked off by Click’s
harder, more accurate counters. Click is stalking now, marching
forward on Greenway with her right hand cocked. Greenway continues
to land leg kicks as she backpedals, though her spinning backfist
attempts are repeatedly met by hard counters from Click.

EA Sports UFC 2 review
A ground-and-pounder may sound more like a cliché than a breakthrough for those more experienced with MMA games, but I was surprised at how effective I was in picking a plan and sticking to it. I felt like, if I was better at submissions, kickboxing and prolonged work in the clinch, the game would have been fine letting me win that way, too. As a scared rookie around my fifth fight, deliberately taking on a tougher opponent fighting a muay thai style, I beat his ass inside of the first minute when I wobbled him with an uppercut, providing all the opening I needed to get him to the ground and thrash him. That was just as authentic as the next fight, where I submitted in the second round.

UFC Lightweight Felipe Olivieri Faces Potential Anti-Doping Violation
UFC lightweight Felipe
Olivieri is facing a possible UFC Anti-Doping Policy violation
for an out-of-competition sample collected prior to his loss to
Tony
Martin at
UFC on Fox 18 on Jan. 30.
The Las Vegas-based promotion released a statement
regarding Olivieri’s failed drug test on Friday.
“Although the sample collected from Olivieri following his bout at
UFC Fight Night: Johnson vs. Bader on January 30, 2016, was
reported as negative for prohibited substances, a sample collected
from him in Brazil earlier that month, and analyzed at the WADA
accredited laboratory in Rio de Janeiro, was recently reported to
USADA as containing a prohibited substance,” the statement
read.
As the administrator of the UFC’s anti-doping policy, USADA will
handle the “results management and appropriate adjudication” of the
Olivieri case moving forward.
“Because Olivieri participated in a bout sanctioned by the New
Jersey State Athletic Control Board after the sample in question
was collected, USADA will work to ensure that the Board has the
necessary information to determine the appropriate course of action
under the Board’s rules,” the statement added.

CES MMA 33 results: Andre Soukhamthath wins title with incredible flying knee KO
Despite plenty of pre-fight trash talk, Nordby showed a limited offensive repertoire. He frequently dove for takedowns with very minimal setup, and Soukhamthath scouted everything from a mile away. When that didn’t work, Nordby tried to attack the legs by diving for leg locks from a distance. Soukhamthath managed to shut those down, as well, and responded with strikes that opened a cut on Nordby’s face.

As Devela shot inside for an early takedown, Taylor latched on to a guillotine and started to squeeze. As he remained in a standing position, Taylor shoved Devela to the cage and continued his wrap, holding tight until Devela went out just 29 seconds into the opening round. Incredibly, it was Taylor’s fourth consecutive win via guillotine choke.

I’m soooooo glad I didn’t have to wait so long to fight. I was only the 5th fight so I didn’t have to wait until late at night to fight, which is perfect, because I start getting sleepy around 9 PM. ^^;; At least in Kansas City, the time is two hours ahead, so my body is okay. I was worried about Vegas, especially with Daylight savings time being A FEW DAYS AFTER THE FIGHT. Why couldn’t it have been before? Anyway, it was fine. Good warm-up, and good entrance. I didn’t forget to take my t shirt off this time. Tom and John walked me out. I feel really comfortable having those two by my side. Just hearing them talk to each other makes me feel more relaxed. Also I listened to Rob Zombie’s “Go To california” on repeat while John was wrapping my hands. Such a comfortable wrap, as usual. And the gloves were comfy and not stiff, too! I’ve had gloves where it hurts to make contact and hit something.
So …when I was watching tape on DeAnna, I just thought, “Okay she’s well-rounded. I’ll just have to do everything.
