UFC 192 Headed to Houston; Fight Night Cards Announced for Nashville, San Diego

Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com Ultimate Fighting Championship revealed three destinations on its 2015 itinerary, as the Las Vegas-based promotion will hold events in San Diego, Nashville and Houston in the second half of the year. A mid-week UFC Fight Night card will emanate from Valley View Casino Center in San Diego on July 15. That event marks a hectic stretch in which the organization is planning to hold a total of four fight cards in a span of eight days. Meanwhile, the Octagon will touch down at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Aug. 8. That marks the promotion’s first trip to Tennessee since Jan. 20, 2012 for UFC on FX “Guillard vs. Miller.” Both the San Diego and Nashville cards will air on Fox Sports 1. Houston will be the site of a pay-per-view event: UFC 192 on Oct. 3. UFC 185 results, photos: Henry Cejudo grinds out Chris Cariaso in official flyweight debut

“My striking has improved,” Cejudo said. “I wasn’t too impressed with my performance. There’s a lot more I could’ve done. I hold myself to really high standards, and I didn’t live up to them tonight. He didn’t hit me with one punch, and if he did, I didn’t feel it – and I know I heard him say ‘Ouch’ a few times. This was only my second fight in the UFC and I fought a Top 10 guy. He’s tough, but I train to dominate. I want a Top 5 opponent next, but if they want to give me the title shot, I’m okay with that, too.”

UFC Newcomer Joseph Duffy OK with ‘Last Man to Defeat Conor McGregor’ Moniker for Now

Joseph Duffy made short work of Jake Lindsey. | Photo: Josh Hedges/UFC/Zuffa/Getty Heading into his Octagon debut, Joseph Duffy was probably best known for something he accomplished more than four years ago. Following his first-round knockout of Jake Lindsey at UFC 185 , perhaps “Irish Joe” will begin to receive more recognition for his current exploits. Then again, it might take a while for people to forget that Duffy handed rising star Conor McGregor his most recent defeat at a Cage Warriors Fighting Championship event in November 2010. After all, McGregor, the featherweight division’s No. 1 contender, is set to challenge reigning champion Jose Aldo at UFC 189 in July. Related » Joseph Duffy’s Thoughts on Conor McGregor For his part, Duffy understands the infatuation with his past. “I think Conor [McGregor] is doing well,” Duffy said. “He’s the most popular fighter to ever come out of Ireland, so I think it’ll take time and a couple more performances like that to lose the moniker ‘The last man to defeat Conor McGregor ‘ -- so I’m OK with that for now.

Now welcomed to the show, is new champ Rafael dos Anjos finally a main attraction?

That knowledge may not be welcome news for UFC executives, of course. With dos Anjos dethroning Pettis, the organization swaps a budding American superstar for a nebulous Brazilian with a crew cut. Somehow, dos Anjos has been in the UFC for nearly seven years without fans ever really getting to know him. If they’re hoping to change that now, they’ll have to wait until he recovers from a knee injury suffered in the weeks before the bout .

ROLL: Jiu-Jitsu in SoCal

A documentary we put together following a short trip to California in late 2014. We met some amazing and inspiring people in the short time that we were there and this film is a slight glimpse into the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle in Southern California. We hope that at some point in the future we will have the opportunity to visit more schools and places in the state and put together a more in depth film. Hope you enjoy it. A collaboration film between Eat Films & Progress Jiu-Jitsu The trip was completely self-funded by James and myself and we are making the film available to watch for free online. What we did decide to do was set up a Just Giving charity page, that way if anyone would like to donate they can do so and help a good cause. Italy's Epic Treehouse Apartments Fulfill Everyone's Childhood Dreams

According to the property's website, Pia integrated about 150 trees into 25 Verde's eco-friendly design (40 in the courtyard alone), which means less pollution and less noise for residents. The trees absorb harmful toxins put into the air by street cars and even create a "microclimate" during the seasons -- making the apartments cooler during the summer and warmer during the winter. Even the walls "breathe" at 25 Verde, as ventilated walls allow sunlight to stream in during the day time. Tree foliage provides protection from the sun when it gets too harsh. Take a look at some of photos of the beautiful property below.

UFC 185: Pettis vs. dos Anjos – Winners and losers

Alistair Overeem surprised many on Saturday night and earned arguably one of his best wins inside the octagon. He neutralized Nelson's entire game and managed to withstand many of the heavyweight's patented punches to earn a decision win. The Dutch kickboxing champion and former Strikeforce heavyweight titleholder showed crisp striking throughout the bout, as he mixed up his leg kicks with knees to the body to keep "Big Country" at bay for the better part of 15 minutes. Although he did get tagged at various points in the fight, he managed to weather the storm and patiently implement his gameplan - a noticeable improvement since moving to Jacksons MMA. Overeem is now on a two-fight win streak and it will be interesting to see who the UFC matches him up with next.

Champs

More than just a sports documentary, CHAMPS explores the pursuit of the American Dream through boxing and paints a picture of a controversial and unregulated sport in a moment of crisis. Built around the stories of heavyweight legends Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Bernard Hopkins - who open up about their lives and careers as never seen before - CHAMPS weaves their uncensored recollections with classic fight footage and candid interviews with Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington, Ron Howard, Spike Lee, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. Boxing has long given kids from America’s roughest neighborhoods the opportunity to escape violence with violence. But in a sport where careers are made and broken in the blink of an eye, and whose athletes are often ill-equipped for the fame and fortune that accompany a title belt, one question remains… What does it take to be a champ?

Mike Dolce calls out Cris 'Cyborg': She's creating barrier so she can't fight Rousey

“Cris can make 135 – absolutely, easily, any day of the week,” Dolce said. “She chooses not to. In fact, she’s chosen to gain 10 pounds to get that much further away from Ronda Rousey, the reigning 135-pound female champion. If you want to fight the champ, you’ve got to come down to the weight class and fight the champ. Cris ‘Cyborg’ has chosen to gain 10 additional pounds to create a further barrier that she will never fight Ronda Rousey.”

Three Finishes Kick Off UFC 185 in Style

In the capper of a UFC 185 early prelim session that featured all finishes, Ryan Benoit returned from a nearly 16-month layoff Saturday night with an upset second-round knockout of Sergio Pettis at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas that spoiled Pettis’ UFC flyweight debut. There were more than a few heated exchanges to kick off the bout, but it was Pettis always coming out on top, prompting Benoit to seek – and get – a takedown midway through the round. Pettis reversed the position though, eventually getting back to his feet, where he continued to sharpshoot from distance and then pick up a takedown of his own in the final minute. It looked like more of the same in round two, but the gutsy Benoit (8-3) kept battling, and as the two traded left hooks, the Dallas product’s landed perfectly, dropping Pettis (12-2) to the mat. Benoit unloaded on the Milwaukee native, with referee Kerry Hatley stopping the bout at the 1:34 mark. It was an emotional victory for Benoit, who took a shot at Pettis after the end of the fight, immediately apologizing for his actions.

Dos Anjos Domination - RDA Stuns Pettis, Wins 155-Pound Crown

Leading up to their UFC 185 main event clash at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Saturday night, 155-pound title challenger Rafael dos Anjos was seen as a threat to champion Anthony Pettis, but wasn’t expected to dethrone “Showtime.” Five rounds later, Brazil’s dos Anjos shocked the doubters and stunned Pettis, putting on a master class en route to a five-round unanimous decision that earned him the UFC lightweight title. All three judges scored it 50-45 for the 30-year-old dos Anjos, now 24-7 “It’s such an amazing blessing,” Rio de Janeiro’s dos Anjos said. “I came from the bottom. I couldn’t ever imagine in my life being here, fighting in a main event and being UFC champion.” “He caught me with a left hand in the first round and I couldn’t see out of my right eye the whole time,” the 28-year-old Pettis, now 18-3, said. “No excuses the dude’s a monster, I’m gonna go back to the gym and train.” Dos Anjos showed no nerves in his first world title fight, taking the fight immediately to Pettis, tagging him with left kicks to the body and a left punch to the head that bruised up the champion’s right eye.
