Report: Nate Diaz-Conor McGregor Rematch Targeted for UFC 200 Headliner
Conor
McGregor will apparently get his chance at redemption.
According to a report from
MMAFighting.com , Nate Diaz will
square off with McGregor at 170 pounds for a second time in the
UFC
200 main event on July 9. The bout is not official but is
expected to be announced soon.
Diaz defeated McGregor via rear-naked choke 4:12 into the second
round at UFC 196 on March 5 in Las Vegas. McGregor was initially
supposed to challenge Rafael dos
Anjos for the lightweight title in the UFC 196 headliner, but
Diaz stepped in on short notice when the Brazilian champion broke
his foot in training.
UFC 196 was a box-office hit, as promotion head Dana White
recently claimed that the event did 1.5 million pay-per-view
buys. It is unclear when McGregor, who captured the featherweight
title with a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at
UFC 194, will defend his crown. Both Aldo and Frankie
Edgar have been vocal in recent weeks in lobbying for a shot at
the Irishman’s 145-pound belt.
UFC 200 takes place at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will
also reportedly include a heavyweight clash between Cain
Velasquez and Travis
Browne as well as a middleweight showdown pitting Gegard
Mousasi against Derek
Brunson .

Brown trying to get to his feet, and Patrick attempting to move to the back. Brown using the cage to prevent that. Brown gets to his feet, but Patrick is all over him. No space at all. Brown trying to control the wrist. It’s stalling a bit, and crowd wants them pulled apart. Brown works back to his feet and finally pulls free with a little more than a minute. UFC Brisbane: Hunt vs Mir - live results and play-by-play
Rawlings circles off the fence and Ham lands a knee downstairs. Rawlings with strong head position in the clinch, and she goes for a single leg. Ham stays upright and lands a left to the ribs. Ham uses a knee shield to prevent incoming knees from Rawlings. Rawlings gets the body lock briefly and loses it, but continues to keep Ham on the fence and fight for position. Ham circles off the fence and glances with a knee from the double collar tie, but Rawlings counters with double under-hooks. Knee to the body from Rawlings but it's mostly been positional control on the fence. 10-9 Ham. I have it 29-28 Ham.

Dan Hardy: Frank Mir can still be UFC heavyweight champion
Mir enjoyed a career rejuvenation in 2015 with two huge first-round knockouts over Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva and Todd Duffee before losing a very close decision to Andrei Arlovski. Despite that setback, Hardy still sees Mir as a threat to anyone in the heavyweight division and he wouldn't be surprised at all to see him holding the belt again one day before his career is over.

UFC Fight Night 85 results: Jake Matthews submits Johnny Case with seconds left in fight
Matthews didn’t abandon the body kicks in the final round, hiding them behind punches and occasionally mixing in combinations to the body. A left hand from Matthews buckled the legs of Case and forced him to shot, but this time the attempt was stuffed. Case threw a push kick and charged forward to pin Matthews to the cage and take away space for the takedown. Matthews used the clinch to take the back as the two fell to the ground. Matthews locked in a rear-naked choke which Case escaped in part by grabbing and pulling the cage. Matthews did not back off, however, and grabbed the submission again to force the tap at the 4:45 mark of Round 3.

Opinion: Tapping and the Thoughtful, Progressive Philosophy of Nate Diaz
Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those
of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of
Sherdog.com, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company,
Evolve Media.
MMA still finds ways to surprise me, for better and for worse, all
the time. When the year started, no part of me expected this to be
a serious topic of discussion: “Should Fighter X have let his or
herself get choked unconscious?” Alas, the schadenfreude that goes
with Conor McGregor’s defeat to Nate Diaz is irresistible. Still,
we’re going on two weeks since Diaz and Miesha Tate shook up the
sport’s landscape at UFC
196 -- a card which might have done 1.5 million PPV buys -- and
folks are still pushing the tap-or-nap nitwittery.
One week of talking about this foolishness? I’ll tolerate it. MMA
went crazy for a night, “Mystic Mac” blew it, we’re in a brave new
world, and in the heat of the moment, people occasionally fixate on
spurious, pointless topics. Two weeks? I will not stand for
this.
Who taps faster Connor or Sage?
— Chris Wade (@CWadeMMA) March 6,
2016
It should go without saying that the attempted emasculation of
McGregor, with the implicit taunt of “Ooh, you tapped, but Holm is
a girl and went to sleep like a man ,” is stupid,
sexist, regressive and totally typical for MMA.

Postal Connections: Needle Movers and Shakers
It’s that time of the week again, so jump on in and check out the
latest questions for the Postal Connections mailbag. The usual
suspects are present again, with Conor
McGregor , Nate Diaz ,
Jon
Jones and the entire
Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight division figuring
prominently in the discussion:
Nate Diaz is still pissed off, and I think he’s right. UFC
President Dana White has said he isn’t a needle mover, and now that
he goes out and beats Conor McGregor, everyone is still talking
about the guy who lost. The UFC has to push Diaz more and help him
get the fights that will make him a big star, too. -- 209 For
Life
First off, when is Diaz not pissed off? Second, I’m no Dana White
mark and I don’t agree with his stance that Diaz wasn’t a needle
mover prior to this epic victory, but it is in no way his fault
that people continue to talk about McGregor. I liken what’s
happening with the fallout from the Diaz-McGregor fight to that of
the Holly
Holm - Ronda
Rousey upset at UFC 193. Sure, people couldn’t help but
continuing to follow Rousey’s every move, but Holm garnered a whole
lot of newfound coverage herself.

UFC Fight Night Brisbane ‘Hunt vs. Mir’ Results: Play-by-Play & Updates
Johnny Case
vs. Jake
Matthews
Round 1
Matthews sends Case backward a few steps with his first straight
right hand, then counters a kick from the American with another
nice right. Case backs him up with a push kick to the midsection,
but “The Celtic Kid” catches Case’s next offering and tries to
convert it for a takedown. Case hops away, and now the lightweights
get back to throwing with about 90 seconds gone. Case clubs
Matthews with an overhand left on the cheek, but Matthews zaps him
right back with a hooking left to the chin. Matthews, who’s
circling to his right around the edge of the cage, bursts out to
the center with a hard body shot. Case easily snuffs out a takedown
attempt from Matthews and runs the Australian to the floor near the
middle of the cage. Matthews gets to his knees, then back to his
feet, but he’s popped by Case with an uppercut on the way. Matthews
times another nice straight right counter to a Case leg kick.
Matthews goes lunging at Case with a knee which misses, then slugs
him with a hard left hook which does not. Case gives Matthews a
grin after the hard shot, and the undeterred “Hollywood” keeps
walking forward.

UFC Fight Night: Mark Hunt vs. Frank Mir Toe to Toe Preview - A Complete Breakdown
Phil: Hunt wants punches. Mir... maybe wants punches also? I'm actually trying to think of the times in recent memory that Frank has successfully completed a takedown. I think he's hit a few on guys like Nelson and maybe even JDS, but he hasn't managed to convert any of those takedowns into serious offense. All his submissions have come off people being hurt- either opponents or himself. Hunt's takedown defense oscillates between rock-solid and really bad (he's occasionally been taken over just by tipping him with a single leg, but it is almost physiologically impossible to lock up a double on him), so I can't say I'd be blown away to see Mir take him down, but it's certainly not a common approach Frank's taken. Regardless, I think we can say that Mark is going to stay with the tried and true- a variety of left hooks at a bunch of different speeds, while Mir is going to show a bit more variety.

Aung La N Sang Guillotines Mohamed Ali in One Championship ‘Union of Warriors’ Main Event
Aung
La N Sang sent his countrymen home with smiles on their
faces.
The Bellator
MMA , Ring of
Combat and
Cage Fury Fighting Championships veteran submitted Mohamed Ali
with a first-round guillotine choke in the
One Championship 39 “Union of Warriors” headliner on Friday at
Thuwunna Indoor Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar. Ali (10-8) bowed out
2:38 into round one.
Sang (7-9) withstood a furious uppercut-laden punching burst from
the Egyptian Top Team rep and countered an ill-advised single-leg
takedown with the guillotine. With no means of escape, Ali tapped
to the Myanmar native’s choke, the raucous crowd roaring its
approval.
The 30-year-old Sang has posted back-to-back wins, both of them
first-round finishes.
In the co-main event, former One
Championship flyweight titleholder Adriano
Moraes tapped Eugene
Toquero with a first-round brabo choke. Moraes (14-2) brought
it to a close 4:53 into round one, as he rebounded from his split
decision defeat to Kairat
Akhmetov on Nov. 21 to win for the fifth time in six
appearances.
Toquero (8-3) nearly sprang the upset.

Veteran Hunt ready for another day’s work
There is genuine surprise in Mark Hunt’s voice when he learns the news. For once, oddsmakers have the “Super Samoan” as the favorite for his fight this weekend against Frank Mir in the main event of UFC Fight Night at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. “I’m actually the favorite? That’s great; that’s a first isn’t it? (Laughs)” Maybe the world has finally stopped underestimating Hunt, ranked number nine in the UFC heavyweight division. At first glance, you can understand why Hunt has been doubted so long. He doesn’t have a chiseled physique. His MMA record is an unimpressive 11-10-1, partly due to the well-documented years in which Hunt did not take the sport seriously. But that doesn’t do Hunt justice. You might guess Hunt is a powerful puncher by looking at his stocky 5’10 frame, but the former K-1 World Grand Prix kickboxing champion is deceptively fast and precise with his strikes. With six victories in the UFC, including vicious one-punch knockouts of Roy Nelson and Stefan Struve, Hunt has established himself as a legitimate contender.

I actually am a big fan of Conor and think his showmanship and athleticism is a wicked combination (even though fighting isn't usually my vibe id rather it in a ring then on the streets in an entertaining rather than violent form, usually the good sports always hug it out at the end) BUT with that being said huge congratulations to Nate Diaz VEGAN ufc fighter and now champion!
