Unbeaten Anastasia Yankova returns against Kate Jackson at Bellator 200

Yankova, 27, will return to action from the longest layoff of her career. The Russian has not competed since Bellator 176 last April, when she earned a unanimous decision over Elina Kallionidou . After stopping her first three opponents, Yankova has gone the distance in her past two. Moreover, she’s struggled to follow through on scheduled flyweight fights but will attempt to make the 125-pound limit again at Bellator 200.

Trading Shots: Was Kajan Johnson right to blast fans – and Dana White – for boos in London?

“In my opinion, it stems from the top,” Johnson said. “A lot of the time you’ll see Dana White giving the fighters so much grief. If you don’t go out, just sling leather and bleed for them, then he’s talking all this smack. And because the leader of the organization acts like this, then it’s so much easier for the fans to act like this. So it really upsets me, and it’s a huge problem that I have with it.”

Exactly the only good things about this fight are the payday for Ngannou and the fact that they'd look epic as hell facing off. It'd be a terrible fight and would probably result in Francis being smothered again. Totally with ya on Lewis v Ngannou. That's the fight to make.

Matches to Make After UFC Fight Night ‘Werdum vs. Volkov’

Alexander Volkov channeled his inner Ivan Drago at the expense of an all-time great and perhaps put himself in position for a career-altering opportunity in the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight division. Volkov erased Fabricio Werdum ’s early gains and knocked out the two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist in the fourth round of their UFC Fight Night 127 main event on Saturday at the O2 Arena in London. The 40-year-old Werdum bowed out 1:38 into Round 4, his future as murky as it has ever been. Initially, it did not go well for Volkov. Werdum executed a takedown inside the first minute and applied his ground-and-pound while chewing up clock from top position. However, Volkov escaped to his feet late in the first round, tagged the longtime Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt with a right uppercut and left him with significant damage to his right eye. Werdum continued to push for takedowns but only once managed to advance to the Russian’s back. His submission advances denied, he became increasingly desperate as Volkov made the most of his opportunities in the striking exchanges.

Aldo first addressed his interest in the meeting with Stephens 10 days ago , in an interview with Brazilian reporter Ana Hissa. By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 127

There may have been something of a changing of the guard at UFC Fight Night 127 in London. Alexander Volkov dispatched one of the heavyweight division’s longstanding mainstays at the O2 Arena on Saturday, as he defeated former champion Fabricio Werdum via technical knockout 1:38 into round four. While Volkov is just 29 years old, making him a relatively fresh face in the weight class, the ex-Bellator titlist has 36 fights and nine years on his resume. Now could be the time for the Russian known as “Drago” to make a serious move toward heavyweight gold. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night 127, with statistics courtesy of Related » Matches to Make After UFC London 4: Consecutive UFC triumphs for Volkov, the second-longest active winning streak in the heavyweight division behind only reigning champion Stipe Miocic (six). In addition to Werdum, Volkov has earned wins over Stefan Struve , Roy Nelson and Timothy Johnson during his current Octagon tear. 96: Total strikes landed by Volkov.

'Sad' Fabricio Werdum releases statement after UFC Fight Night 127 KO loss

➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ I would like to thank everyone who cheered for me, who sent me messages of support and who are by my side in this difficult moment which is a defeat. I am sad but I keep my head up with the certainty that life is made and mistakes and correct and that the most important of this trajectory is how we rise from a fall. I am fortunate to have happiness and determination in my heart and to be surrounded by people who respect me and who give me the energy that I need to continue my path of success.

UFC Fighter Dominick Cruz Says He Can Beat Floyd Mayweather With 1 Arm in the Octagon

Cruz also offered up some advice for Mayweather as he prepares to possibly compete in his first MMA bout later this year. “I’ll give him a hint—focus on your takedown defense no matter who you’re fighting,” he said. “Don’t worry about nothing else, Floyd Mayweather, just takedown defense. And if you really break it down, he’s already thinking that way. Why do you think he’s training with Tyron Woodley?”

Medical suspension be damned: UFC's Beneil Dariush follows own rules after KO loss

“It may look like a setback now, but I don’t have God’s vision,” Dariush said. “I can’t see that far ahead. What looks like a setback now could be the biggest blessing. I just stay patient, stay focused on what I was doing. I really believe everything is going really well as far as training and fighting goes. I’m going to take this setback and allow it to just make me better and just shoot me forward.”

For Francis Ngannou, calling out Brock Lesnar is about proving critics wrong

“If they tell me, you have to take Derrick, I’m going to take Derrick,” Ngannou said. “I’m not just going to take everyone and say, ‘OK, let’s fight this one for nothing.’ I want a plan. It doesn’t matter who it is. If the UFC says that Derrick will be that one (that gets me a title shot), I’ll fight Derrick. I don’t have a problem to fight anyone else. I just want to keep looking forward.”

“I mean even if — and I really mean this — even if the the circumstances I had with Mario hadn’t happened, just take my whole situation out of the equation, just watching that fight with Valentina Shevchenko and [Priscila Cachoeira], seeing the way he handled that fight, I was appalled,” Chiesa told MMAWeekly. “It had nothing to do with my own personal vendetta with the guy, it all just comes down to an official’s job, their No. 1 job is to protect the fighters. Protect the fighters from themselves, sometimes we can be too tough for our own good. It’s not about upholding the rules. It’s about protecting the fighters and he obviously is way too incompetent to do that.

UFC Flyweight Queen Nicco Montano Says She’s not Ducking Valentina Shevchenko

Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s flyweight champion Nicco Montano became the inaugural UFC women’s 125-pound champion in December after earning a unanimous decision victory over veteran Roxanne Modafferi . Montano, who is recovering from a broken foot which she aggravated before the championship fight, has had to fend off accusations that she is avoiding a fight against Valentina Shevchenko . Shevchenko recently moved down to the flyweight division after her loss against bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes . Shevchenko made easy work of Priscila Cachoeira in her debut at 125 pounds last month, winning by second-round submission with the victory securing her status as the No. 1 contender. Montano recently talked with KRQE about a potential return to action this summer (via ): “I’m shooting for this summer. I’m really hoping to get on that Vegas card (at UFC 226). I had to fight through this injury the last time too, and the (UFC Performance Institute) helped me out a bunch. I think that it could have turned out a different way without that support, so I’m really hoping for that July card in Las Vegas.

Alexander Volkov Seeking Heavyweight Title Shot at UFC’s Debut Event in Russia

Stipe Miocic is already slated to defend the heavyweight crown against Daniel Cormier in a champion vs. champion superfight at UFC 226, but once that concludes, Alexander Volkov believes he has the resume to be next in line. Volkov earned the biggest victory of his career to date at UFC Fight Night 127 , as he knocked out former heavyweight king Fabricio Werdum in the fourth round of their headlining encounter at the O2 Arena in London on Saturday. It was the fourth straight triumph for the Russian, giving him the second-longest active winning streak in the division behind only Miocic. In addition to his win over Werdum, Volkov has also bested Stefan Struve , Roy Nelson and Timothy Johnson during his current streak. “I think I deserve title shot right now,” Volkov said at the post-fight press conference. My winning streak is four right now. I beat a former UFC champion [Werdum] and a guy who beat the current UFC champion [Struve], so maybe it’s my time.” Related » By the Numbers: UFC London Volkov also has an idea of when he would like the opportunity to arrive.

UFC London Prelims: Charles Byrd Taps John Phillips in Octagon Debut

Can we interest you in another first round finish?!@DynamiteByrd170 with the submission on the #UFCLondon prelims! — UFC Europe (@UFCEurope) March 17, 2018 Charles Byrd needed to win twice on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series to catch an Ultimate Fighting Championship contract, but he was thankful for the experience it gave him. When he finally got into the Octagon, that experience paid off in spades as he choked out power-punching Welshman John Phillips in the first frame. Byrd (10-4 MMA, 1-0 UFC) choked out both Jamie Pickett last July, but wasn’t able to gain UFC President Dana White ’s favor and earn passage to the Octagon. Five weeks later, he fought again in the Contenders Series and choked out Randall Wallace , then finally got his contract. Making his Octagon debut against Phillips (21-7 MMA, 0-1 UFC), an SBG Ireland rep and training partner of Conor McGregor , he immediately put the fight on the deck, took full mount and hammered away with elbows. Phillips eventually escaped to half guard, but when “The White Mike Tyson” sought to scramble to his feet, “Kid Dynamite” halted him, sinking in one hook and cranking his face.
