After past comes to light, Will Chope pulled from UFC Fight Night 38 lineup (Updated)

I fight today. But I just want to make a small post about what has been brought up last night. I made some mistakes in my past. The incidents happened 5 years ago and I will live with them for the rest of my life. But I just want everyone to know the articles are being sensationalized right now and me and my ex wife have spoken about this and we would like everyone to know that we are friends now and have moved on and are different people and are just trying to be good parents to our daughter. She also made a post on her personal page she is allowing me to share. I will make a formal address to this issue after the fight, but I hope this is suffice until then.

10 reasons to watch UFC Fight Night 38, including Ferreira's chance to shine

Henderson recently went on the record that his first fight with Rua wasn’t all that special despite the fanfare it had received. Interesting opinion, but then again, have you ever seen “Hendo” get excited about, well, anything? For those of us on the outside of the cage, it was a shot of energy toward the end of that year that the injury bug ravaged. Henderson vs. Rua might not be the best bout in UFC history, but it’s definitely in the top five, and if they somehow can find the magic a second time, as did Michael Chandler and Eddie Alvarez, you’d be silly to miss it.

Where Will "The Young Assassin" Land? – SciFighting

Let’s first take a look at WSOF, this organization boasts former UFC lightweights, Tyson Griffin (16-7) and Jacob Volkmann (16-5) both of which would provide a nice matchup for Guillard. However the name on their roster that catches my eye the most is Dan Lauzon (17-5), younger brother of Joe Lauzon (23-9) who made The Young Assassin tap out to a rear naked choke in under a minute in 2011. Could Melvin find revenge in the form of a raucous KO on the little brother? Or would Dan make like his brother and force Guillard to “say uncle” once more? If nothing else, at least there is some organic animosity behind the bout.

But it was like that on a daily basis, trying to manage his emotions. I just never knew what I was going to get into with him, and you know, he’s just a nut. I don’t know him, I don’t know the guy. If this was a different guy and I knew him, I knew where the buttons were… this is a guy that I don’t know, all I know is he calls himself a murderer. And, he’s yelling at me constantly. One time I even told him… he’s attacked me before, the big fight that everybody heard about – that’s not the only fight we had, it wasn’t even the first. So, after he had attacked me before, you know, I went home and was talking to my wife about it and I was saying it was weird. For some reason because there’s cameras there, this is all ok. Like man, if there weren’t, it’s a crime. It’s against the law what’s happening, but for some reason, it’s not… I had to pull Wanderlei to the side one time and say ‘Wanderlei, look.

UFC Fight Night 38 live blog: Fabio Maldonado vs. Gian Villante

Round 1: Referee is Herb Dean. Octagon girls have smiled and we're underway. VIllante trying for a takedown right off the bat, and he gets it. Side control, and he uses a knee to pin one of Maldonado's arms (at least momentarily). Still in side control, and he's trying to create leverage/room for strikes. Now he snatches Maldonado's back, and drives him headfirst into the fence. Big knees to the back of Maldonado's thighs. Long Island native so far having his way with Brazil's Maldonado. More long ranging knees crashing into Maldonado's thighs. Still with a bear bug on Maldonado, and after a couple more knees, takes Maldonado down again. Side control, and once again he uses his knees to pin a limb, this time Maldonado's leg. Posturing now as the crowd roars its disapproval. Maldonado gets a headlock, but Villante in side mount. Not a lot of action, but it's all Villante. Just suffocating the Brazilian. Not letting Maldonado get up, where he is most dangerous. Maldonado tying up Villante's limbs, and as Villante sits up for space he lands a left off his back. Nice short elbows from Villante.

Gracie Barra Fires Otvaio Sousa from Coaching Position

Hi Guys, Last night I just received an email from professor Chris saying that I was fired from Gracie Barra Headquarters, without any warning from before. When I was in Irvine teaching, the responsible guys from GB Headquarters Chris and Derek didn't say anything that they were planing to do that. No communication at all. I got really shocked when I got to know about that, it wasn't even from them that I get to know, I was the last to know about it. I was even telling the students here in Costa Rica to Come visit Gracie Barra Irvine in CA to train with, without knowing what was going on. like I always did, representing the Flag and doing the marketing of our academy (GB IRVINE). They are saying that I am never there in Irvine which is not true because I am always traveling to teach seminars and they complaint that my reluctance to adhere to GB curriculum and standards have no choice for them to make that decision. But nobody came to me and said nothing before. I just want to let everyone know because they didn't even leave me the chance for me to say good buy to you guys. I am sure everyone understands about the times the I have to leave to make seminars, thats my way of making money and be able to live out of my country and make a living of jiu jitsu because what they promises me they never did it, always passing the responsibility to the other one because they never took responsibility with what they promise, or say.

UFC Fight Night 38 results: Rony Jason gets quick stoppage of protesting Steven Siler

It was a looping right that started things off for Jason after a brief feeling-out period. It caught Siler high on the head and jolted him off to one side, which is precisely when Jason came lunging in with a follow-up left that put Siler down. But as Jason moved in for the finish, Siler seemed to have his wits about him, and was in the process of setting up what looked to be a credible defense off his back.

UFC Fight Night 38 live blog: Rony Jason vs. Steven Siler

Round 1: Referee for the first fight on the main card is Wernei Cardoso. Octagon girl blows a kiss, and here we go. Silver with some inside leg kicks out of the gate, and Jason overhand right glances. Here's another right from Jason, not much doing. Silver comes in quick at center with rapid-fire jabs. HUGE right hand from Jason lands flush, and Siler is hurt! He is standing there gathering his wits, and boom! Jason slams home another shot and it's over! Violent stuff from Jason. Siler protests almost immediately, but it's over. Big overhand right then a left hook did the damage, then as Jason went to go land a blow on the ground, the referee called him off. Siler was in the process of throwing an upkick, and was vocal with referee as he waved the fight off. Maybe a little premature.

Caffeine May Protect Against Parkinson's

Scientists working with a mouse model of Parkinson's disease have found that caffeine prevents the loss of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is depleted in the neurodegenerative illness. If the new findings are any indication of caffeine's effects in humans, a coffee a day may help keep Parkinson's away. The results of this study will be published in the May 15 issue of the journal Neurology. Specifically, the new research, conducted by Michael Schwarzchild of Massachusetts General Hospital and his colleagues, links caffeine's protective effects to the so-called A2A receptor. The dopamine neurons that degenerate in Parkinson's target neighboring neural cells that sport this receptor. But caffeine apparently antagonizes the A2A receptor, rendering it inactive and thereby halting the progressive destruction that characterizes the disease. Indeed, those mice in Schwarzchild's study that were pretreated with caffeine retained near-normal dopamine levels when exposed to a chemical known to induce Parkinson's-like symptoms by decreasing brain dopamine. These findings follow on the heels of a study published last year, which found a link between caffeine consumption and a decreased risk of Parkinson's.

Trading Shots: Henderson and Rua do it again, but then what?

When I think about “Hendo” vs. “Shogun,” though, it makes me think about the future of MMA. All TRT talk aside (and I know that’s hard for you to do), we know that Henderson and Rua can’t do this forever. Once they leave, do we have anyone who can fill their shoes? I don’t mean in terms of fighting ability. I think we all can agree that the level of competition has risen the past few years. Rather, I mean in terms of star power. There’s so much young talent out there, but are there any personalities? Ronda Rousey has come on the scene, but who else has risen? A lot of the names that have built the sport aren’t competing anymore. Just think about the fact that Diego Sanchez is one of the last remaining competitors from “The Ultimate Fighter 1,” and every time he has a fight scheduled, half the fans wish he would just hang his gloves up.

UFC Fight Night 38 fight card: What's at stake?

I don't know whether UFC will pull the kind of ratings on television tonight to justify further Sunday ventures. I also know they're only doing this because of a previous commitment on Fox Sports 1's side to motor cross programing. This wasn't exactly a strategic push from the outset. But count me in as a guy all in favor of product differentiation. Anything that changes up routine or shakes up presentation is ok by me. UFC content has a history of doing well on Fox Sports 1 for any number of reasons, not least of which is the UFC's loyal fan base that follows them wherever they go. Let's hope they didn't cross off Sundays as a place they just can't follow.

Diego Brandao on Will Chope and fight cancellation: 'I've made mistakes too'

“I’m disappointed, but I have to say thanks to God for taking me here to Brazil,” said Brandao, who will be paid his “show” and “win” money. “I feel for Chope. I know he worked hard for this moment. I worked hard for this fight, too. But he had a bad moment in his life, and this is the UFC. You can’t make mistakes and expect to stay in the UFC. That’s why I thank God every day that I have this opportunity because I’ve made mistakes, too. But from now on, I’m never going to make those mistakes. I’m only going to learn from the mistakes of others.”

Shogun Rua talks special mouthguard, crying, happiness and other things you rarely see from him

Well, Shogun isn't the first name that pops up in my head when I think philosophical or thought-provoking. But, hey at least she tried to get a side of Shogun we never see. Just seems to be a simple and happy guy(not a knock on Shogun whatsoever) very content with his life. Then again, how could anyone think anything, but happy thoughts when you're doing an interview riding some romantic first-date two-person bike with Bel Mota !?
