FDXtreme get ripped (Athlete)

I never wanted to be a professional yo-yo dieter, that's why I always refused to have off seasons body composition wise. In my world it's embarrassing if you look like a totally different person in real life compared to your photos or competition pics. If you need to spend half a year at leaning out all the flab just to do a show or two or a photo shoot or two, because your appetite is too big or your discipline to weak, is it really worth it? Looking great two days a year and then be soft and mushy. For me it never was anyway. I'm not talking about having a few healthy pounds to shed for an event, I'm referring to all those who get FAT, yeah FAT when the show time is over. The ladies get double butt size and with that follows stretch marks which don't look great on stage. It's manageable

Two days after win, Dan Henderson volunteers to fight Lyoto Machida at UFC 173

Although the UFC appears content with the rescheduling of Weidman vs. Machida – and though Machida is unlikely to give up a guaranteed title shot to take a fight with Henderson – it’s impressive that Henderson is apparently willing to get back in the cage so quickly, especially at a lighter weight class.

Association of Ringside Physicians offers new statement on weight cutting in MMA

Over that last decade and a half weight cutting has become common practice in MMA competition. So much so, that it is now considered incredibly unusual if a fighter doesn't cut at least 10 lbs in the last day or two before a fight. Fighters who compete at their walking weight, or below their divisional limit are something of a rarity. Because of the complex nature of MMA governance (there isn't much in the way of cohesion) there aren't really any firm regulations on how fighters should go about weight cutting. The percentages, dehydration techniques, and re-hydration techniques are very much left to the volition of the fighters themselves. In this climate, it's of little surprise then that a desire for greater consistency of approach exists. Such is the nature of the Association of Ringside Physicians recently released statement on weight cutting in MMA.

Melvin Guillard happy to be out of the UFC

Guillard was somewhat understandably miffed at the fact that he never managed to climb to the top of the UFC's pay scale in his time with the company. As one of the longest standing members, and most regularly hyped fighters, Guillard headlined 4 UFC cards while under contract. His results were never even, but it's a good question as to what his value to the UFC was and how well that was reflected in his contract.

Unbeatens Meet in Berlin on May 31

Fresh off big wins in March, unbeaten middleweight prospects Luke Barnatt and Sean Strickland will meet in an intriguing UFC Fight Night matchup at the O2 World Berlin on Saturday, May 31. "May 31st, Berlin, Germany, two undefeated middleweights go to war," said England's Barnatt, who stopped Mats Nilsson in London earlier this month. "When I get the knockout and end this young man's dream, at least he can take warmth in the fact he has a stamp on his passport and can enjoy the beautiful city of Berlin. I'm ready." A week after Barnatt's victory, California's Strickland impressed in his Octagon debut in Dallas, submitting veteran (and Barnatt's TUF 17 castmate) Bubba McDaniel in a single round. "From what I have seen from Luke, I predict this is going to be a long war between two talented fighters," Said Strickland. "I expect us to both take risks and try to finish the fight. In the end I will come out on top and will remain undefeated." Fight Night Berlin tickets go on sale to UFC Fight Club members on April 2, with newsletter code holders having the opportunity to purchase tickets on April 3 and a general sale beginning on April 4.

22 Q&A: UFC welterweight, Ohio native Matt Brown

The training regimen changes for every fight. There is basically a 10- to 12-week camp before every fight and four- to eight weeks out from the fight, I will leave Columbus and head somewhere else. For this fight, I'm training in Syracuse, N.Y. It's good to get away and not have to deal with the daily grind of being at home.

The hidden costs – and benefits – of those epic battles in the cage

“I grew up watching these wrestling idols of mine, seeing how they walked when they got older, and yeah, a lot of them walked a little crooked, but you knew there was a good reason,” Coleman said. “I personally think that in those back-and-forth wars, the best place to be is the winner. It gives you this sense of euphoria. But the second-best place to be is the loser. As bad as it feels at the time, you will get over it, and you will be better for it.”

He's no 'FBI agent,' but Michael Bisping curious about Vitor Belfort's drug test

The title hopeful also explains why he should get a shot at the belt if victorious – and why he’s more deserving than Belfort. Belfort, of course, was lined up to fight champ Chris Weidman at UFC 173, but following a recent ban on testosterone-replacement therapy, the Brazilian was replaced by Lyoto Machida. However, Bisping finds it peculiar that Belfort hasn’t released the results of a recent pre-fight drug test ( which Belfort’s lawyer called “not relevant” ), which was conducted while Belfort was on TRT.

Alan Belcher, Antonio Rogerio Nogueira removed from UFC rankings, UFC says they're still under contract

We've known about Belcher's plans for some time and it's possible that he's called it a career, but Nogueira being pulled from the rankings suggests the UFC has either decided that he wouldn't be ranked due to his inactivity, they've released him, or Nogueira has retired/had his own hiatus.

Ratings report: UFC Sunday night experiment looks promising

With a comparison of two shows, both headlined by Henderson, and both having well known Brazilians as his opponent, the unfamiliar Sunday beating the traditional Saturday would have to be a strong positive and a real surprise. It's possible that Rua would have had a little more juice as Henderson's opponent, because the two had one of the greatest fights in UFC history in 2011. But Belfort and Henderson at the time was a more relevant fight since Belfort had far more momentum at the time than Rua, and had a title shot at stake.

SB Nation MMA rankings: Welterweight

(Scoring: Fighters are given 10 points for a first-place vote, nine points for a second, etc., down to one point for 10th place. The results are then tallied up and presented here. Official SB Nation rankings policy: Fighters under commission suspension are ineligible to be ranked during the duration of their suspension or if they have licensing issues. At the moment, this does not affect any fighters generally considered in the discussion for a top 10 welterweight spot. Also, now that Nick Diaz has stated his intention to return to the sport, he is once again eligible to be ranked.)

Morning Matchmaker: Dan Henderson should not get a title contender next

Anyone who thinks Henderson is in the mix for a title shot in the light heavyweight division just isn't paying attention. His knockout of Mauricio "Shogun" Rua was awesome. No one is taking that away. But before that, Rua was pummeling him and Hendo was coming off three straight losses. At 43, Henderson isn't a championship contender anymore unless something drastic happens.

49
Fortunes changed for five at UFC Fight Night 38

The first is how much respect nearly everyone in the sport has for Henderson, whose photo should be put in the dictionary next to the term "hard-nosed fighter." The rabid crowd in Natal, Brazil, fiercely booing every foreign fighter who faced a Brazilian, seemed to have so much respect that they couldn't really bring themselves to do the same with Henderson even against a Brazilian fighting legend. Rua was of course the crowd favorite, but the loud negative reaction and the "You're gonna die," chants Brazilian crowds have made famous, weren't that evident even though this was fight they had paid to see.

WMMA March Week 4 Preview - Cris Cyborg faces 25-0-3 Muay Thai champ, Mei Yamaguchi 105 debut

It has been reported that Tiburcio would drop to 105lbs with her signing to Invicta FC, but for now she will fight once more at 115lbs and Sattelmayer is no 'gimme' fight. She is not athletically gifted, but can turn the fight into a grinding affair. Tiburcio has trouble with girls that can stop takedowns, and counter her flurries into the clinch. Tiburcio should be superior on the ground. Regardless of what happens, though, Tiburcio and her 4 ft 11 frame should be much more comfortable and effective at atomweight.
