It was a good knock. Enjoy it. We'll see the next time. A photo posted by Conor McGregor Official (@thenotoriousmma) on Mar 25, 2016 at 1:11pm PDT Conor McGregor added fuel to the fire regarding rumors that he will face Nate Diaz in a rematch at UFC 200 in an Instagram post on Friday. “It was a good knock,” McGregor wrote while captioning a picture of his bout against Diaz at UFC 196. “Enjoy it. We’ll see the next time.” Last week, reports surfaced that the Las Vegas-based promotion is in discussion to book the Diaz-McGregor rematch for UFC 200 on July 9 at the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While the rematch will reportedly take place at welterweight, Diaz said during an appearance on UFC Tonight that he would prefer to fight McGregor at 155 pounds . Diaz submitted McGregor with a rear-naked choke 4:12 into the second round of their March 5 encounter in Las Vegas. While “The Notorious” one appeared to win round one, Diaz rocked his foe in the second stanza before securing the fight-ending maneuver. McGregor had been victorious in his previous seven Octagon appearances, including a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo at UFC 194 to claim featherweight gold.

Trainer: ‘Anderson Silva as Motivated as He Was at Beginning of MMA Career’

Anderson Silva has already arrived in Rio de Janeiro to begin his camp for Uriah Hall , whom he will face at UFC 198 on May 14 in Curitiba, Brazil. Although “The Spider” is now 40 years old and hasn’t officially won a fight since October 2012, his passion for the sport is still strong, according to physical trainer Rogerio Camoes. “Anderson is motivated like he was in the beginning of his career. For a long time I didn’t see him that way,” Camoes told “Actually before the Bisping fight he was already so excited to take part in the first UFC event in Curitiba. Now he will have the opportunity to fight for his people where he started his story, so he’s really happy. He is physically in shape, focused. “I really like to see Anderson that way. Of course Hall is a great opponent, a top of the division [talent] who deserves all respect. Besides being a new guy with lots of physical strength, he is also very technical. It is definitely going to be a great battle.” Camoes said that Silva will train with his usual group of coaches, an experienced team that will include same Thailand-based muay Thai coach who helped him prepare for Nick Diaz at UFC 183.

WrestleMania Season: Reflections as MMA Rages On into Big Apple

It’s time! No, not for Ultimate Fighting Championship announcer Bruce Buffer’s trademark introduction to a main event fight (at least not yet). It’s time for the UFC’s last barrier of entry into the mainstream -- New York City, and the combat sports mecca in its midst, Madison Square Garden. Mixed martial arts were banned in New York for 19 years. Countless legal battles and one corrupt imprisoned Sheldon Silver later, MMA has finally arrived in the world’s media capital thanks to the New York State Assembly surpassing the required approval mark, 76 votes, with 113. Only 25 opposed it (although the absurd speeches too extensive to get into here made it seem like it’s still 1993-level ignorance about the sport). The news is long overdue -- a sigh of relief for anyone who loves thin pizza slices and sanctioned combat sports just the same. The UFC’s lobbying dollars and media campaigns should receive the lion’s share credit for the sport crossing the last hurdle (MMA media sites and New York-based journalist Jim Genia too). The UFC last brought the Octagon to New York in 1995 when MMA was still no holds barred.

Opinion: Adrien Broner’s Biggest Problem is Adrien Broner

Your worst enemy in boxing is usually the opponent standing across from you trying to cram the leather from his boxing gloves into your face repeatedly until you lose consciousness. Adrien Broner’s worst enemy continues to be the man in the mirror. With reports coming in that Broner is facing felony assault and aggravated robbery chargers in his hometown of Cincinnati just a week before his April 1 fight with Ashley Theophane, you have to wonder how much longer he will last in this sport. He came into the game with high expectations and quickly showcased that he had the talent to one day be great by capturing world titles in four weight classes by the age of 26. However, what he has accomplished inside the ring is not what he’s known for. It’s what he continues to do outside of it. Admittedly, when the reports rolled in that Broner assaulted a man outside of a bowling alley in January after a heated game involving money and then took $12,000 out of the unconscious man’s pocket, I wasn’t all that surprised. Sadly, it sounds like something Broner would do, not necessarily the pistol-whipping part but everything else leading up to it.

Michael 'Venom' Page ready to put on a show, which isn't good for Jeremie Holloway

“I’m just excited to fight,” Page said. “Jeremie Holloway, I haven’t done too much research at the moment. Like I said, I’m just excited to fight, and when I’m excited, it just makes me want to put on even more of a show. And when I put on more of a show, it tends to be bad for my opponents, so that’s what I need to kind of worry about.”

Opinion: The Surprising Perks of Not Getting What You Want

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday firmed up its officiating assignments for UFC 197 , and Daniel Cormier spoke up and objected to Herb Dean refereeing his April 23 light heavyweight championship rematch with Jon Jones . The NAC noted his complaint but ultimately stuck to its guns and kept Dean appointed as the third man in the cage. Cormier’s complaint was unsuccessful, but it wasn’t a failure. A fighter exercising his agency as an athlete ought to be applauded, and frankly, Cormier’s contemporaries should be eager to take a chapter out of his book. “DC” claims that in the latter stages of his January 2015 bout with Jones, Dean allowed the then-champion Jones to stall and didn’t heed Cormier’s prefight warnings to watch for some of Jones’ questionable tactics. Cormier didn’t make a particularly compelling case; rhetorically, in the interest of persuasion, he would have been better off demonizing Jones as an unrepentant eye-poking cheat, arguing that Dean repeatedly missed these fouls and that as an athlete, he was profoundly uncomfortable with Dean’s assignment.

Patricky Freire Not Interested in Guillard Bout: ‘His Name is Not as Valuable Anymore’

In the weeks leading up to Bellator 149 , Patricky Freire and Melvin Guillard went back and forth at one another in interviews and on social media. The only problem? Guillard was fighting Derek Campos , not Freire, on Feb. 19 in Houston. Campos provided a long-lasting reminder of that fact by knocking out “The Young Assassin” 32 seconds into round two of their encounter at the Toyota Center that night. Not only was it Guillard’s third straight loss, but it also appears to have brought an end to a feud that was just picking up steam. “It’s not a fight that makes sense for me anymore. I wanted to fight Melvin before when the timing was right. Now he’s coming from three losses in a row. His name is not as valuable anymore,” Freire told “I’m always looking for the biggest challenge and the biggest names, the fights that are going to take me to the top, and he’s not one of those anymore.” Instead, Freire, who has won five of his last seven fights — including a brutal knockout of Ryan Couture in January — has his sights set on the top of the division.

At UFC 196 , Nate Diaz picked up the biggest win over his MMA career as he submitted Conor McGregor in the 2nd round of their welterweight scrap. Boxing: Andre Ward Looks Sharp in Dominating Sullivan Barrera

WATCH: Ward puts Barrera down with a big left hook in Round 3. #TweetReplay #WardBarrera — HBOboxing (@HBOboxing) March 27, 2016 Andre Ward did what he was supposed to do -- even coming off a nine-month layoff. He chopped up the terribly overmatched Sullivan Barrera (17-1, 12 KOs) Saturday night from the Oracle Arena, in Oakland, California, on HBO. Ward (29-0, 15 KOs), making his light heavyweight debut, had one minor snafu. He hit Barrera low in the eighth round, and referee Raul Caiz Sr. felt compelled to take a point from “S.O.G.” Otherwise, Andre Ward was still Andre Ward. He countered punched well, and each time Barrera tried loading up with a big shot, Ward had already struck the Cuban expatriate with the extensive amateur background in the face, or to the body with a left hook or a counter straight right hand. It was a nasty left hook that caught Barrera on the top of the head that resulted in the fight’s only knockdown in the third round. The judges were all in agreement giving Ward a unanimous 12-round decision: Bill Lerch had it 117-108, Steve Morrow scored it 119-109 and Pat Russell had a 117-109 tally all for Ward.

Sherdog Remembers: Wanderlei Silva vs. Kazushi Sakuraba 1

Wanderlei Silva has tormented any number of opponents throughout his storied career, none more so than Japanese legend Kazushi Sakuraba . Their one-sided rivalry began under the Pride Fighting Championships banner with a clash in the Pride 13 “Collision Course” main event on March 25, 2001 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It was not a pleasant experience for Sakuraba, who entered the ring on a three-fight winning streak and left it with a few less brain cells on which to operate. The maniacally aggressive Silva swarmed from the start with punches and Sakuraba enjoyed a brief glimmer of hope, as he dropped the Brazilian to a knee with a sneaky right hand. Silva answered with a clinch, pancaked Sakuraba to the canvas and began the bludgeoning. Think Captain Vidal bottle scene from “Pan’s Labyrinth.” Brain-scrambling knees were first on the menu, and Sakuraba was left to crawl around the ring in desperation, as he tried in vain to snatch a leg and stop the beating. He was unsuccessful. Silva pinned him to the mat in a kneeling position, blasted him with knees to the head, neck and back and then finished it with soccer kicks.

Stories From The Road: Erik Paulson

Before there was the Ultimate Fighting Championship , before anyone even knew the term mixed martial arts in the United States, Japan was a haven for adrift fighters looking to display their craft. Otherwise, anonymity was their companion. MMA was not even considered a sport in the U.S. in the early 1990s, treated more with a dubious cringe as a kind of sports speakeasy where combat nomads could convene before fringe crowds. That is the nebulous world through which Erik Paulson tread. The Minnesota native fell in love with martial arts at an early age. He sought out the best teachers, explored different styles and was one of the early trumpeters of a sport yet to be discovered by the mainstream. So naturally, he migrated to Japan, where his passion could be admired and where he might even make a buck or two fighting. Paulson was the first American to fight for Shooto and the first American to win there. Shooto would not arrive to the U.S. until 2006. Paulson was not willing to wait for something to come to him, so he went to Japan.

Postal Connections: MMA Legal in NYC, McGregor-Diaz 2

Tuesday was a big day for the sport of mixed martial arts. When New York became the last state to legalize MMA competition, the final domino fell in a long hard fight waged by many people -- some long forgotten -- who put in the time and effort to see that a sport they so loved would be recognized and regulated in a professional manner. The Ultimate Fighting Championship and their deep pockets deserve a whole lot of credit, but I will always look back with fondness when I think of the people who were showing up at commission meetings in California long before it was ever legalized here on the left coast. The standards they came up with were adopted by New Jersey in September 2000 and became the basis of the “unified rules” that are in place across the globe today. This fight really goes back to the 90s and without all the tireless work put in, there would have never been a foundation for the UFC to prosper. Let’s all say a big thank you to all who helped make this day happen. Without further ado, let’s jump into this week’s questions.

Miesha Tate didn't get in the sport just to fight Ronda Rousey

"I think that what I've decided as the champ that I need to have the mentality that I can be ready to beat anybody in the world at any time," Tate told "UFC Tonight" on Wednesday. "I'm not trying to look past anyone because I feel like there's so many top contenders out there right now. I could name obviously Ronda (Rousey), Holly (Holm), Cat Zingano, Amanda Nunes, even Julianna Pena -- those are all really solid competition and I don't want to think 'well I'm set on just this one person.' I've got a contract signed and it's not really my job to pick who's next.

Does Race in Boxing Still Matter?

The air was heavy in the conference room that morning for the usual HBO pre-fight production meeting. A particular subject hung in the balance that makes people edgy. Sergey Kovalev was about to defend the IBF, WBA and WBO light heavyweight titles against Jean Pascal on Jan. 30 in Montreal, and the Russian expatriate and his team were sitting down with the HBO broadcast crew handling the fight. No one wanted to broach the gravity of the topic weighing on everyone’s mind, especially with Pascal making it such an issue leading up to the fight. It was all spawned by a picture Kovalev posted on Twitter in 2015 superimposing a gorilla’s head on the body of WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson, who is black. Pascal said he would make Kovalev pay for the racist tweet, which Kovalev deleted and eventually followed up with an apology. However, Bernard Hopkins, a member of the HBO broadcast team, would not let it go. “I remember telling Sergey, ‘Pascal called you racist, and he might be on to something, so let’s talk about race,’ and everyone in the room started looking at me and there was what seemed like this long pause, because no one knew what I was going to say next,” Hopkins said with a laugh.

The Healing Benefits of Honey

Ancient and mysterious, honey has long held pole position as being a nectar of the gods—and essential food for any trip into the afterlife. Sadly, the honey bears on grocery store shelves today don’t always bear a lot of resemblance to the honey harvested thousands of years ago, since it’s often processed, blended and heated, stripping it of many of its vital nutrients. There’s a big movement happening in the food world, though, which puts prominence on the same single-origin, place-centric sourcing that’s become so essential in the world of wine and coffee, and one of the major players is Bee Local. We talked to Damian Magista (beekeeper and self-proclaimed honey geek), who founded the company back in 2011. In the last five years, Bee Local has grown from a handful of hives in Magista’s hometown of Portland into one of the most trusted producers of honey in the country, with beekeepers in cities from Oregon to Texas to New York. As part of the process, they create humane situations for bees, and transparency for consumers, serving as one antidote to the hive collapse that’s been noted around the country.

Nate Diaz More Interested in Money Than Titles: ‘The Belt is a Fairy Tale’

Nate Diaz doesn’t harbor dreams of UFC gold. For the Stockton, Calif., native, career accomplishments are best measured by the zeroes in the bank account, not the hardware in the trophy case. That’s why, if the rematch with Conor McGregor takes place at UFC 200 as rumored , Diaz won’t care that a championship is not at stake. “I think that title thing is a fairy tale,” Diaz said Wednesday on UFC Tonight. “The best fighters in the world are getting paid the best money. The belt is a fairy tale, as far as I’m concerned. That might piss a lot of people off.” Diaz is only now realizing his earnings potential within the Las Vegas-based promotion in the wake of his second-round submission triumph against McGregor at UFC 196. For that bout, Diaz earned a disclosed payday of $600,000 (including $100,000 in bonuses). And UFC President Dana White has hinted that the Cesar Gracie protege took home quite a bit more than that. The event was a box-office hit as well, doing in the neighborhood of 1.5 million pay-per-view buys , according to White. That success could very well be the promotion’s impetus behind booking a rematch.

Food Sensitivities

Food allergies and food sensitivities are common. The main difference between the two is the severity of reaction after consumption of a certain food. Someone who's allergic to peanuts can go into anaphylactic shock if they're exposed to the smallest amounts of peanut dust, while an individual who's "only" sensitive to peanuts might get stomach pain, itchy tongue or something else minor.
