Cyborg Makes Octagon Debut at UFC 198

One of the most feared fighters in the world is finally making her way to the Octagon, as Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris "Cyborg" Justino faces Leslie Smith at UFC 198 on May 14. The bout, which takes place at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, will be held at a catchweight of 140 pounds. A native of Curitiba, the 30-year-old Justino (15-1, 1 NC) is unbeaten for over 10 years, and with 13 of her 15 pro wins coming by knockout, it's not surprising that she has soared to the top of every organization she has competed in. A former Invicta FC standout in her own right thanks to three Fight of the Night awards and wins over Raquel Pennington and Jennifer Maia, Leslie "The Peacemaker" Smith (8-6-1) is a fearless competitor who is well prepared for the biggest fight of her career this May. Winner of two of her last three over Jessamyn Duke and Rin Nakai, the 33-year-old Californian eagerly anticipates a fight to remember against "Cyborg.

Conor McGregor opens as favorite in expected UFC 200 rematch with Nate Diaz

Diaz forced McGregor to tap out to a rear-naked choke earlier this month in their UFC 196 non-title headliner. Although McGregor is the 145-pound champ and Diaz has recently fought at 155 pounds, their UFC 196 bout took place at 170 pounds, and the UFC 200 rematch will reportedly take place at the same weight.

Opinion: Fairytale Championships

In the aftermath of UFC 196 , you can’t help but feel good to see the increased exposure of Nate Diaz . The Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran of nearly a decade has been a fan favorite since his days on “The Ultimate Fighter,” and while he has never exactly been graceful on the microphone, he has always been honest and interesting. This was no less true when, earlier this week, the Stockton Slap specialist made an appearance on “UFC Tonight.” Sitting alongside fellow “Ultimate Fighter” alums Kenny Florian and Michael Bisping , Diaz detailed his comfort with being a moneyweight fighter simply looking for the biggest possible fights. When asked whether those fights would be for a title, Diaz brushed it off in a vintage soundbyte : “I think that title thing’s a fairytale, man.” First off, you have to love the fact that Diaz said that to Florian, who had three failed attempts to win a UFC title, and Bisping, who has always knocked at the championship door but has never been invited inside to try his hand. Yet Diaz knows what he’s talking about; once upon a time he, too, had a title shot, and he was handily defeated by Benson Henderson .

Jon Jones Cited for Drag Racing; Video Shows Ex-UFC Champ Call Police Officer ‘F---ing Liar’

Trouble continues to follow former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones , who is less than one month out from his UFC 197 title rematch with nemesis Daniel Cormier . Jones, 28, was last week cited for five traffic infractions by police in Albuquerque, N.M. “Bones” discussed the matter during an interview on Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour.” Jones said that he was ticketed for drag racing, having a modified exhaust, swerving between lanes, exhibitionist driving and covering his license plate’s registration tag with a decorative cover. The citations came during the same week in which Jones was cleared in another traffic case, in which he was cited for driving without a license. “I ended up getting a deferred sentence for not having my proper paperwork,” Jones said. “I went to court and the judge told me no citations for me, knowing that 90 days and this will go off your record. So, me knowing that, obviously, I am driving and following the law doing what I can to stay out of trouble.” Jones admitted that he did, in fact, rev his engine to a car full of fans next to him at a red light, but that an officer pulled him over not long after the traffic signal changed.

Nate Diaz vs. Conor McGregor 2 betting odds released for their expected UFC 200 rematch | UFC Fight News & Videos

Ariel Helwani has said that “the reason that this fight is happening at 170-pounds is because, to be frank, Conor Mcgregor is a bit of a wild man. He wants, he is obsessed with the idea that he lost to Nate Diaz at 170-pounds. He feels like he should have won and he wants the same circumstances, same rules, same stipulations. He wants to do it again and he wants to prove that he is the better man.”

Boxing: Nick Blackwell in Medically Induced Coma After Loss to Chris Eubank Jr.

Former British middleweight champion Nick Blackwell is currently in a medically induced coma after absorbing a beating at the hands of Chris Eubank Jr. on Saturday night in London. The bout was action-packed, but Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) was the more dominant force and began pounding on the defending champion to the head and body. As the rounds wore on, it became evident that Blackwell was too tough to be stopped with punches to the head, and he continued to fight on. Referee Victor Loughlin allowed the fight to continue, though many who observed the match felt it could have been stopped sooner. Blackwell had a grotesque hematoma above his left eye and was bleeding from the nose when Loughlin finally stopped it at 2:21 of round 10. Chris Eubank Sr. climbed into the ring between rounds eight and nine and implored his son to attack his foe’s body instead of the head. Perhaps recalling the night in 1991 where he sent Michael Watson to the hospital -- Watson was in a coma for 40 days after the fight -- the elder Eubank didn’t want the same fate to fall upon Blackwell. “The next time you throw a flurry like that, if the referee doesn't stop it, then I don’t know what to tell you,” Eubank was heard telling his son between rounds.

Luke Rockhold to Yoel Romero: 'I'll beat that (expletive) too/"

Since that time, Romero has stated that he was the victim of a tainted supplement and plans to contest the USADA ruling, but Rockhold sees this as the latest in a long line of ways the Cuban-born middleweight keeps shooting himself in the foot whenever a title shot draws near.

Tragedy Strikes Boxing, Fighter Put In Coma Following Brutally Damaging Loss

Tragedy Strikes Boxing, Fighter Put In Coma Following Brutally Damaging Loss March 28, 2016 Chris Eubank Snr may have saved Nick Blackwell's life with these words. Shows you how dangerous boxing can be. — Despa Robinson (@DespaStayFresh) March 27, 2016 During Saturday’s pro-boxing offering, WBO interim middleweight champion Chris Eubank notched another victory with a 10th round TKO over Nick Blackwell. After a one-sided affair, ringside doctors stopped the contest when it became apparent Blackwell could no longer see out of a damaged left eye. Shortly after the bouts conclusion Blackwell collapsed and was later placed in a medically induced coma, due to bleeding in his brain. Adding to this story, Eubank’s cornerman and father implored his fighter to lay off the head shots, because he could see the other fighter was indeed severely damaged, and instead instructed his son to finish the fight with body shots to avoid any further damage. Following Saturday’s contest both Eubanks men sent their well wishes to the hospitalized fighter, via twitter.
