Jon Jones Cited for Drag Racing; Video Shows Ex-UFC Champ Call Police Officer ‘F---ing Liar’

Trouble continues to follow former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones , who is less than one month out from his UFC 197 title rematch with nemesis Daniel Cormier . Jones, 28, was last week cited for five traffic infractions by police in Albuquerque, N.M. “Bones” discussed the matter during an interview on Monday’s episode of “The MMA Hour.” Jones said that he was ticketed for drag racing, having a modified exhaust, swerving between lanes, exhibitionist driving and covering his license plate’s registration tag with a decorative cover. The citations came during the same week in which Jones was cleared in another traffic case, in which he was cited for driving without a license. “I ended up getting a deferred sentence for not having my proper paperwork,” Jones said. “I went to court and the judge told me no citations for me, knowing that 90 days and this will go off your record. So, me knowing that, obviously, I am driving and following the law doing what I can to stay out of trouble.” Jones admitted that he did, in fact, rev his engine to a car full of fans next to him at a red light, but that an officer pulled him over not long after the traffic signal changed.

Cyborg Makes Octagon Debut at UFC 198

One of the most feared fighters in the world is finally making her way to the Octagon, as Invicta FC featherweight champion Cris "Cyborg" Justino faces Leslie Smith at UFC 198 on May 14. The bout, which takes place at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Brazil, will be held at a catchweight of 140 pounds. A native of Curitiba, the 30-year-old Justino (15-1, 1 NC) is unbeaten for over 10 years, and with 13 of her 15 pro wins coming by knockout, it's not surprising that she has soared to the top of every organization she has competed in. Owner of victories over Gina Carano, Marloes Coenen (twice), and Shayna Baszler, the former Strikeforce champion has compiled a 5-0 record with five knockouts as a member of the Invicta FC roster. A former Invicta FC standout in her own right thanks to three Fight of the Night awards and wins over Raquel Pennington and Jennifer Maia, Leslie "The Peacemaker" Smith (8-6-1) is a fearless competitor who is well prepared for the biggest fight of her career this May. Winner of two of her last three over Jessamyn Duke and Rin Nakai, the 33-year-old Californian eagerly anticipates a fight to remember against "Cyborg.

Although McGregor is the 145-pound champ and Diaz has recently fought at 155 pounds, their UFC 196 bout took place at 170 pounds, and the UFC 200 rematch will reportedly take place at the same weight.

Carla Esparza Replaces Injured Jessica Aguilar, Meets Juliana Lima at UFC 197

Carla Esparza will compete for the first time in more than a year when she locks horns with Juliana Lima at UFC 197 . Promotion officials on Tuesday announced Esparza as the replacement for the injured Jessica Aguilar , who was forced to withdraw from the event after tearing her ACL . UFC 197 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 23 and is headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones . Esparza hasn’t fought since relinquishing the strawweight title to Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a brutal defeat at UFC 185 in March 2015. The former Invicta FC titlist earned the UFC strap by besting Rose Namajunas at “The Ultimate Fighter 20” finale in December 2014. The 28-year-old Team Oyama representative is 10-3 as a professional overall, with seven wins inside the distance. After falling to Jedrzejczyk in her promotional debut, Lima has bounced back with consecutive triumphs over Ericka Almeida and Nina Ansaroff in the Octagon. The 34-year-old Brazilian has compiled an 8-2 career mark since turning pro in 2010.

13 Silva Officially Requests Fight Against Conor McGregor

“It’s a challenge that I would like to accomplish. I never asked anyone to face, never asked to fight with anyone, but it is a challenge that would like to have, to test my martial skill against McGregor.Like that of a rematch against Nick Diaz and against Michael Bisping. I think McGregor is a great fighter standing in the last fight he did not fight very well because just getting into the game Nate Diaz, and is a very difficult challenge, they (the Diaz brothers) have a lot of gas standing. Have to respect the loss to Diaz does not diminish his career, but they are opponents that would like to test my skills: McGregor, Nick Diaz, and again against Michael Bisping

Opinion: Fairytale Championships

In the aftermath of UFC 196 , you can’t help but feel good to see the increased exposure of Nate Diaz . The Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran of nearly a decade has been a fan favorite since his days on “The Ultimate Fighter,” and while he has never exactly been graceful on the microphone, he has always been honest and interesting. This was no less true when, earlier this week, the Stockton Slap specialist made an appearance on “UFC Tonight.” Sitting alongside fellow “Ultimate Fighter” alums Kenny Florian and Michael Bisping , Diaz detailed his comfort with being a moneyweight fighter simply looking for the biggest possible fights. When asked whether those fights would be for a title, Diaz brushed it off in a vintage soundbyte : “I think that title thing’s a fairytale, man.” First off, you have to love the fact that Diaz said that to Florian, who had three failed attempts to win a UFC title, and Bisping, who has always knocked at the championship door but has never been invited inside to try his hand. Yet Diaz knows what he’s talking about; once upon a time he, too, had a title shot, and he was handily defeated by Benson Henderson .

Brock Lesnar has no clue where his UFC titles are but he knows how much money he made

"I'm not much for legacy," Lesnar told "SportsCenter" on Monday. "I guess people have their way of remembering what I did. I'm not about accomplishments. I don't have a trophy room. I don't have any symbolic things. I'm not a sentimental guy. I couldn't even tell you where my UFC titles are or my WWE championships or my NCAA plaque, my heavyweight plaque. The Bottom Line: Blending Kickboxing with MMA Remains Uphill Climb

Editor’s note: The views and opinions expressed below are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views of, its affiliates and sponsors or its parent company, Evolve Media. Bellator MMA with its April 16 event in Italy will debut Bellator Kickboxing and make another attempt to pair kickboxing with mixed martial arts. On paper, it’s an idea that has its conceptual merits. It’s understandable that Bellator President Scott Coker continues to pursue the concept. In practice, however, it just hasn’t gained any traction to date. MMA fans haven’t shown an interest in gravitating en masse towards kickboxing, and there’s good reason to question whether they ever will. Well before the Ultimate Fighting Championship ran its first event, Scott Coker was promoting kickboxing. Thus, it’s no surprise that he has confidence in the sport’s appeal. His interest in the sport goes deeper than simple sentimentality, though. While the UFC’s top decision makers looked at American boxing and pro wrestling for their promotional model, Coker gazed east towards Japan.

Blagoy Ivanov-Josh Copeland Heavyweight Title Fight Headlines WSOF 31 in Connecticut

Las Vegas-based MMA promotion World Series of Fighting on Tuesday announced that it is headed back to Connecticut this summer. WSOF 31 will be held at Foxwoods Resort Casino and is slated to be anchored by a heavyweight title fight between Blagoy Ivanov and Josh Copeland . Ivanov made a name for himself at the 2008 World Sambo Championships by defeating MMA great Fedor Emelianenko . He parlayed that success into a torrid start to his MMA career, where he dominated in Bellator, winning his first six bouts for the organization before losing for the first time as a pro to Alexander Volkov . The Bulgarian has since bounced back with two wins in the WSOF, both via stoppage. Denver’s Copeland made good on his WSOF debut after losing two in a row in the Octagon. The Grudge Training Center fighter is 3-3 in his last six bouts. Also scheduled for the event is a lightweight battle between UFC veterans Jason High and Mike Ricci . Their showdown will grant the winner the promotion’s No. 1 contender status for the title.

UFC strawweight Paige VanZant recaps Episode No. 2 of 'Dancing with the Stars'

What was the process like working through the routine with Alan with only a short time to learn it and not all week? We were at the studio (Sunday) night for two hours and worked really hard. Then at the studio the day of the show, we had down time in between rehearsals. We just hung out and waited to hear news from Mark, who was at the doctor’s (office) before the show, and we didn’t hear anything. And finally we got a text that said, “All right, you’re in.” That was it – we went outside and rehearsed in the parking lot, and then it was showtime. They don’t have (specific) understudies for each (pro dancer). Mark got to choose who he wanted to perform with me, and Alan was the best choice. He said that he’s a really, really good dancer. And it was his first time being with a star on the show. He had only been with the troupe dancers doing the little dances here and there throughout the night. So he was very, very excited and it was really fun.

MMA’s Greats of the States | Idaho: Scott Jorgensen

Mixed martial artists come from every corner of the globe, bearing a variety of styles. Sometimes, fighters are products of their environment, favoring disciplines prevalent in the country or state from which they hail. Various regions of the United States are considered factories for great fighters, though that certainly is not the case with each state. In this weekly series, the spotlight will shine on the best mixed martial artist of all-time from each of the 50 states. Fighters do not necessarily need to be born in a given state to represent it; they simply need to be associated with it. For example, reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight titleholder Robbie Lawler may have been born in San Diego, but few would recognize him as a Californian.

Boxing: Nick Blackwell in Medically Induced Coma After Loss to Chris Eubank Jr.

Former British middleweight champion Nick Blackwell is currently in a medically induced coma after absorbing a beating at the hands of Chris Eubank Jr. on Saturday night in London. The bout was action-packed, but Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) was the more dominant force and began pounding on the defending champion to the head and body. As the rounds wore on, it became evident that Blackwell was too tough to be stopped with punches to the head, and he continued to fight on. Referee Victor Loughlin allowed the fight to continue, though many who observed the match felt it could have been stopped sooner. Blackwell had a grotesque hematoma above his left eye and was bleeding from the nose when Loughlin finally stopped it at 2:21 of round 10. Chris Eubank Sr. climbed into the ring between rounds eight and nine and implored his son to attack his foe’s body instead of the head. Perhaps recalling the night in 1991 where he sent Michael Watson to the hospital -- Watson was in a coma for 40 days after the fight -- the elder Eubank didn’t want the same fate to fall upon Blackwell. “The next time you throw a flurry like that, if the referee doesn't stop it, then I don’t know what to tell you,” Eubank was heard telling his son between rounds.

Boxing: Broner’s Boner

The question has yet to be fully resolved, but as of Easter, it appeared that WBA super lightweight champion Adrien Broner (31-2, 23 KOs) might not be available to punch for pay on April 1 against challenger Ashley Theophane (39-6-1, 11 KOs) in a bout that supposedly will be televised via “PBC on Spike” from the DC Armory in the nation’s capital. It is possible, however, that the hot-tempered, quick-fisted but foggy-thinking Broner will be considered for the host’s role should that old television staple from its black-and-white era, “Bowling for Dollars,” be revived with a plot twist: the loser bids to reclaim his squandered cash by literally beating the snot out of the guy who posts a higher score on the lanes. Talk about your real-life April Fool’s Day scenarios. Regardless of whether the Broner-Theoplane fight comes off, but particularly if it does not, someone is sure to nominate the Floyd Mayweather Jr. wannabe for a 2016 Darwin Award -- the highly unofficial, tongue-in-cheek designations that “recognize individuals who have contributed to human evolution by selecting themselves out of the gene pool” by their ridiculous and sometimes highly illegal actions.

Tragedy Strikes Boxing, Fighter Put In Coma Following Brutally Damaging Loss March 28, 2016 Chris Eubank Snr may have saved Nick Blackwell's life with these words. Shows you how dangerous boxing can be. — Despa Robinson (@DespaStayFresh) March 27, 2016 During Saturday’s pro-boxing offering, WBO interim middleweight champion Chris Eubank notched another victory with a 10th round TKO over Nick Blackwell. After a one-sided affair, ringside doctors stopped the contest when it became apparent Blackwell could no longer see out of a damaged left eye. Shortly after the bouts conclusion Blackwell collapsed and was later placed in a medically induced coma, due to bleeding in his brain. Adding to this story, Eubank’s cornerman and father implored his fighter to lay off the head shots, because he could see the other fighter was indeed severely damaged, and instead instructed his son to finish the fight with body shots to avoid any further damage. Following Saturday’s contest both Eubanks men sent their well wishes to the hospitalized fighter, via twitter.
