If he wants it, ex-UFC champ Dominick Cruz will get immediate title shot
“I don’t think, after this long of a layoff, it would be right to throw him in there for that fight – unless he wants it,” White said. “He was the champ before all this stuff happened to him, and if he wants to come right back and fight [for the title], then yeah, I’d do it.”

UFC's Dana White comments on Rich Franklin's potential ONE FC job
There’s no doubt he could still compete at the top level of the sport, but if he takes the job with ONE FC, which has made inroads in the sometimes-tough-to-navigate Asian market, would Franklin’s UFC fighting career be over? White isn’t sure, but he knows the fan favorite has a lot on his plate.

Video: Jon Jones vs. Glover Teixeira from 'Countdown to UFC 172'
Jon Jones usually does his walk to the octagon with 50 Cent’s “God Gave Me Style” playing in the arena, though he’s also switched it up and gone with Bob Marley. For UFC 172, he’s doing something different.
- Cerrone picked up a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his win over Barboza; Cowboy has now bonus’d in three consecutive fights . All the other UFC on FOX 11 bonuses went to prelim fighters. Thiago Alves and Seth Baczynski won Fight of the Night for their three-rounder which Alves won by unanimous decision, and Performance of the Night #2 went to UFC newcomer Alex White — who was previously involved in the ugliest late-stoppage in MMA history — for his first-round TKO of Estevan Payan .
Chuck Liddell takes aim at Jon Jones, says he should have fought at UFC 151
"I think pulling out of [UFC 151] really fight really hurt him with the fans," he continued. "That was, you're fighting a guy coming up from a weight class down, who, when you're given a chance, I heard an excuse about him being a southpaw, I mean, c'mon, you fought a [lefthander] the fight before. And it's not like Chael is a slick southpaw, a slick striker, he's a brawler with the stance because he shoots that way. Pulling out of that probably hurt him with the fans, I mean, it's just I think some of the stuff he says they don't agree with. You can't have everything."

But last year, after three decades of competing in the race, Dick and Rick Hoyt decided 2013 would be their last. They never made it to the finish, though; they were among the almost 6,000 runners stopped on the course when the bombs went off. So Team Hoyt is running again — one last Boston Marathon, they told me, this time in honor of all the people killed and injured in last year’s attack.

MMA apparel company offers $5k reward for KO’ing Ronda Rousey
Nope…Cyborg is a disgrace due to her outright lies and steroid abuse. I remember back to the disgraceful interviews confronting her steroid abuse where she talked through an interpreter because she couldn’t speak for herself. What a sham. Lying scumbag. I think Rousey is a pretty bad character as well (how the “champion” acted towards Meesha Tate), but in Cyborg’s case, she’s spot on. Cyborg has an unfair advantage by being half-man/horse. She doesn’t deserve respect and Rousey afforded her none. I think that the thought of having Cyborg as the face of woman’s MMA is not only disgraceful, but that it won’t help the sport. For this, I want to see Rousey win…and then later be KO’d by an even better, new face of women’s MMA. Someone with a better character than Rousey. Then again, the things that often make the fiercest/best fighters don’t necessarily translate into positive character traits.

Report: UFC releases Bubba McDaniel and Renee Forte
Another two fighters on a streak of poor performances appear to have been given their walking papers from the UFC. Nothing is set in stone, but these types of moves are usually only indicative of one thing. In the mean time, UFCFIGHTERSiNFO has posted that three names have been deleted from the UFC's roster of active fighters.
In perhaps the most dramatic twist of fate in MMA history, Gonzaga Cro-Copped Cro Cop with a head kick, sending him crashing to the mat with his ankle twisted hideously beneath him. The KO came with just 9 seconds left in the round, and to this day remains one of the most shocking and unexpected knockouts of all time. In fact, the knockout was incredible enough to land on the UFC’s “Ultimate 100 Knockouts” list at #3, behind only Barboza vs. Etim and Silva vs. Belfort .
UFC on Fox 11 Post-Mortem: The ‘Cowboy’ Way
Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone added another spectacular finish to his
resume. | Photo: Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com
Barboza was a fighter many astute MMA fans were getting behind
heading into his
UFC on Fox 11 clash with Donald
Cerrone on Saturday at the Amway Center in Orlando, Fla.
Barboza owned a 13-1 record, including a 7-1 mark since debuting
Ultimate Fighting Championship in 2011. There was plenty to see
and like, and it is always better to get in on the hype early than
to be one of the last people on the bandwagon.
There was only one small problem here: Some people seemed to forget
about the quality of Cerrone. The “Cowboy” is part brawler, part
technician -- a fighter who was more than ready to put his full
skills on display.
“I don’t know what was going on early on,” the longtime lightweight
contender said after he submitted Barboza in the first round, “but
then the two golden words came into my mind: ‘[Expletive] it.’”
Cerrone uncharacteristically looked a little reluctant to engage
early on, especially after Barboza got the better of exchanges in
the opening minute.

Michelle Waterson aims to defend Invicta title but is ‘ready for any doors or opportunities that might open’ in the future
With the UFC showing a keen interest in the women's 115lb. division, one would assume that Waterson, a former strawweight fighter, would be interested in joining that roster in the octagon. While she admit that she is open to all opportunities, she would like to defend her title belt and finish her Invicta contract before considering future alternatives.

Fat loss is easy on Fighter Diet
is a lifestyle and a 24/7 commitment. The problem is never to "start a diet". I amsure you know some friends who say "I could if I wanted" and "I always lose a lot of weight when I start a diet", yet those same friends tend to stay just as chubby as always since they either never want to change their lifestyles for real, or the friend who loses a lot in the first week, then stops after one week so it does not really count anyway!

Ask and you shall receive: Phil Davis asserts himself on media call with Jon Jones
And here White shrugged his shoulders. Well, on the UFC 172 media call on Monday, Davis was told of White’s stance that maybe he should demonstrate better his desire for a title fight instead of being so laid back. With current light heavyweight Jon Jones on the line as well, Davis decided like there was no time like the present to get started. "Listen, if that’s what [White] said, that’s what he said -- I’m not going to argue with the man, simple as that," Davis said, before steering into the third person. "But, how I feel about it is, if you want Phil Davis calling and texting your phone everyday telling you I want to fight Jon Jones and beat up whoever the champion is, that’s fine. "That’s not necessarily Phil. It’s really just a miscommunication. So I’m just going to make sure I’m going to do what I’ve got to do Saturday, then I’ll call out whoever the champion is after Saturday night, simple as that." This conversation led Davis into chastising Jones – who headlines UFC 172 against Glover Teixeira in the main event Saturday night -- while the getting was good.
Ahead of UFC 172, Phil Davis promises to break Jon Jones apart 'like a sugar cookie'
“Jon Jones came out doing his regular deal, and because Alex and I train together, I said, ‘Alex, listen man. What you really need to do is you need to strongarm him like an American – hit him with a backhand pimp slap.’ Alexander threw seven different kinds of smoke at this dude; Jon Jones didn’t know up from down when he was fighting Alex. He didn’t know what hit him. He didn’t know why he hit him that hard, why he was hitting him so much. Honestly, I still don’t understand how he lost, but I will say this: Jon Jones came back in the last two rounds, fought like a champion.
UFC champ Jon Jones no longer interested in heavyweight
“If he gets to the point in his career when he wants to move up to heavyweight, I mean, what he accomplished in the first year and a half as a light heavyweight was incredibly impressive,” White said. “The fact that he can move up – I’ve been waiting for Anderson Silva to move up to 205, but he never wanted to do it. I’d like to see it.”

Dana White: If Dominick Cruz wants to fight Barao right away, he can
"I, literally, have heard nothing from Dominick Cruz. I don't know what's going on with him. And I don't think after this much of a layoff it would be right to throw him in there for [a title shot], unless he wants it. He was the champ before all this stuff happened to him, and if he wanted to come right back and fight (Barao), then yeah, I'd do it. But Barao is one of those guys - man, I just think Barao is so nasty. I'd fight somebody else. If it was me, personally."
Viewpoint: Shock Value
Fabricio Werdum shocked the world once before. | Photo: Dave
UFC on Fox 11 post-fight press conference, a jovial Fabricio
Werdum showed his linguistic versatility, answering media
queries in three different tongues.
That Werdum was reasonably comfortable holding court in his native
Portuguese, as well as English and Spanish, was not the Brazilian’s
most impressive display of skill at the Amway Center in Orlando,
Fla., on Saturday. That came approximately an hour earlier, when
“Vai Cavalo” picked apart Travis
Browne on the feet with a well-rounded standup arsenal to
capture a clear-cut unanimous verdict in the UFC on Fox 11
headliner. According to FightMetric.com, Werdum landed 121
significant strikes, the fourth highest total by a heavyweight in
Ultimate Fighting Championship history. Not bad for a two-time
Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold
medalist who tried to butt scoot his way to victory against
Overeem some three years earlier.
It was common knowledge that Werdum would have a decided edge
against Browne on the mat, and while he did become the first person
in UFC competition to take down the 6-foot-7 Hawaiian, he truly
distinguished himself on the feet.
Bjorn Rebney: Tito Ortiz Will Have Huge Weight Advantage on Alexander Shlemenko
Ortiz will likely have a major weight advantage on his side
when he meets Bellator middleweight champion Alexander
Shlemenko in a light heavyweight bout that’s being planned for
Bellator’s May 17 pay-per-view event .
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney joined the
Sherdog Radio Network’s “Beatdown” show on Wednesday to discuss
the matchup, Shlemenko’s eagerness to fight Ortiz and more.
On whether the fight is official: “I’m probably a step away, a day
away from getting final approval from the commission. We’re making
it obviously at 205 because Shlemenko said, ‘I don’t care. I’ll go
up to whatever weight he wants to fight at. It makes no difference
to me.’ We’re probably a step away from official, but all
indications are we’re going to make it happen. It’ll be the third
fight on the pay-per-view.”
On the weight difference: “It’s 20 pounds on paper, but
legitimately, Shlemenko walks around at 190. He’s a guy who cuts
four pounds, who stops eating big meals a day and a half before the
fight to cut four pounds of water weight to make 185.
Dana White on Ronda Rousey: 'She's the new Chuck Liddell'
"Ronda called me and says, 'I want to fight.' Ronda is my new Chuck Liddell , man, seriously. She is my new Chuck Liddell. She will fight anybody, anywhere, at any time. She wants to stay busy, she wants to keep fighting. You tell her she can't fight and she'll say, 'F**k you, I want to fight.' She will fight back-to-back, she will fight on 24 hours' notice. She's the new Chuck Liddell."

Give the 'Go Horse' his due: Five ways of looking at UFC on FOX 11
You can get me to believe that Nurmagomedov truly doesn’t care whether he fights on FOX or FOX Sports 1 (though I bet his sponsors do). You can even get me to believe that it’s not an insult to dos Anjos to put him lower down on the card than the guy he just beat (in fairness, Cerrone-Barboza was a hell of a show, as we knew it would be). But don’t try to make up new meaningless terms to justify it. Just admit that you wanted to put two exciting strikers on network TV and leave the more grappling-heavy pairing for the hardcores who were willing to seek out FOX Sports 1 earlier that afternoon. Definitely don’t try to attack the guy who asks the very legitimate question in the first place.
Obviously, Rousey will not be reprimanded for her comments in any way, shape, or form because she’s “the biggest star the UFC’s ever had,” but it’s hard to deny that her latest tirade raises an interesting question in regards to the UFC’s code of conduct. The answer to that question of course being that, like every other aspect of the UFC/MMA — from the refereeing to the judging to the UFC’s media and hiring/firing policies — the code of conduct is less a set of rules than a widely varying guideline that is only enforced when it is most convenient for all parties involved. Fuck yeah, transparency!
Jones: No desire to fight Velasquez at moment
"Somebody was asking me about possibly fighting Cain Velasquez," Jones said on a conference call with reporters. "I have no interest at this point. There's a lot of great competition for me to test myself (at 205 pounds) -- Glover Teixeira obviously being first on that agenda."
Jon Jones says he won’t be headed to heavyweight anytime soon
After light heavyweight champion Jon Jones beat Rashad Evans at UFC 145 , it already looked like he was close to achieving something that’s virtually impossible in the UFC -- that of cleaning out his division. His next challenges had to come from outliers from 185 pounds; Vitor Belfort (coming up to 205 pounds on short notice) and Chael Sonnen (whom he coached opposite of on The Ultimate Fighter 17). The dearth of natural contenders at light heavyweight made speculation of his move to heavyweight less a matter of "if" as in "when." That’s why heading into UFC 165 , it really felt like Alexander Gustafsson might be among the last to challenge Jones at 205 pounds. The talk heading into that fight was about his Nike and Gatorade sponsors and a potential, not-so-distant superfight with Cain Velasquez . That’s when things took a turn. Gustafsson gave Jones the test of his life at UFC 165, which made a rematch feel inevitable. And while that has been playing out, there’s been a replenishing of challengers, starting with this Saturday’s main event at UFC 172 against Glover Teixeira .
Hindsight: UFC on Fox 11 in retrospect
Alright, I want to put this out there first and foremost, before I get down to laying into myself: UFC on Fox 11 had a lot of close fights, but it wasn't the hardest card in the world to predict. There were some obvious favorites for obvious reasons and I got eaten alive because I looked a little too hard for competition. This is the danger when you spend as much time as I do sussing out the skill of fighters, it's that you begin to feel that everyone matches up well with everyone and a lot of the less definitive traits like strength and athleticism become secondary. For my part, I try to be aware of this and not let it happen. A card like UFC on Fox 11 is a nice reminder that I need to keep that part of my brain in check a little better.
