Fighter Diet Life & Muscle Pain

I have a prehab routine  (they're always in the beginning of my workouts. Some simple moves) that I do almost every day that keeps my weaknesses from stopping my heavy workouts. for instance I always need to add some hip movements and strengthen the shoulder complex with some disco moves. Yes, it does add extra time and yes, I do lie on my bread stick as a hardcore foam roller alternative, but it does keep me in good shape. Think about how much force, wear and tear you put your body through and then compare that to how much affection you give it in return. I assume there is a huge gap... I spend most of my pocket money on deep tissue massage and visits to my chiropractor. My body is like a racing car, it will break down if I don't get it in the body shop regularly.

Meet the Teen Who Beat Terminal Brain Cancer with Cannabis

In 2014, Alysa is cancer-free, and her family believes cannabis oil saved her life. At the time, the Erwins’ outlook appeared grim. Doctors call her condition Grade III anaplastic astrocytoma, an inoperable cancer with a near-zero survival rate. Alysa's disease, caused by uncontrolled neuron growth, had spider-webbed throughout her brain. There were no individual tumors to target. A wiry network of cancerous cells penetrated so far into her skull that surgery was impossible. That meant Alysa would have to undergo aggressive chemo—and radiation therapies, a choice which leaves many terminal patients incapacitated during their final days. In Alysa's case, even with traditional medical treatment, doctors expected she'd survive for only another one or two years. The situation became desperate, and the Erwins sought out another choice.

The Fighter & The Kid

This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.

The Mike Dolce Show

I usually don't like writing reviews but, I was feeling guilt for not say anything about the show. I don't know Mike in person but I can guarantee to anyone that Mike knows what he talks about and, to have knowledge doesn't mean you have to be a Doctor or whatever you title you prefer to call. Mike makes all plain and simple: you are what you eat and what matters is quality of the fuel you put in your body. Doctors are legal drug dealers, they won't tell you other ways to lose weight or whatever the problem may be other then taking pills and more pills. Great work done by Mike, I ain't nobody but I totally approve and appreciate what Mike does. Thank you Mike, excellent job.

USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie rankings, April 22: Kennedy, Romero climb at 185

Fabricio Werdum’s win over Travis Browne didn’t have much of an impact at heavyweight, but Tim Kennedy and Yoel Romero made some strides at middleweight in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA Power Rankings.

Jon Jones says he won’t be headed to heavyweight anytime soon

After light heavyweight champion Jon Jones beat Rashad Evans at UFC 145 , it already looked like he was close to achieving something that’s virtually impossible in the UFC -- that of cleaning out his division. His next challenges had to come from outliers from 185 pounds; Vitor Belfort (coming up to 205 pounds on short notice) and Chael Sonnen (whom he coached opposite of on The Ultimate Fighter 17). The dearth of natural contenders at light heavyweight made speculation of his move to heavyweight less a matter of "if" as in "when." That’s why heading into UFC 165 , it really felt like Alexander Gustafsson might be among the last to challenge Jones at 205 pounds. The talk heading into that fight was about his Nike and Gatorade sponsors and a potential, not-so-distant superfight with Cain Velasquez . That’s when things took a turn. Gustafsson gave Jones the test of his life at UFC 165, which made a rematch feel inevitable. And while that has been playing out, there’s been a replenishing of challengers, starting with this Saturday’s main event at UFC 172 against Glover Teixeira .

Chuck Liddell says Glover Teixeira will finish Jon Jones within three rounds

thought style-wise it is a good matchup for him," Liddell said. "He has the wrestling to hang in there with him on takedowns, if Jon Jones shoots in he has to be careful not to get caught in something, if he does get him down, Glover is really good at getting him off his back. I think the think that’s going to have the biggest effect is the power that Glover has. He hits very hard."

Jake Shields Expected to Make World Series of Fighting Welterweight Debut in July |

Shields, an American Jiu-Jitsu practitioner, previously held the EliteXC welterweight title, as well as the Strikeforce middleweight championship. “I have so much to prove, and I will become the World Series of Fighting welterweight champion,” Shields said. “I’m really looking forward to fighting at my new home with World Series of Fighting. I think that when you look at the World Series of Fighting welterweight roster, there is no denying that they’re housing many of the world’s best, and I’m proud to be a part of that group.”

15 Things Leaders Never Do

It’s tough to get anywhere in the world of business if you’re not able to display leadership. If you want to quarterback a winning team you need to be assertive in exhibiting your skills at being in charge. You’ve got to be sure of yourself and have the strength of your convictions. That’s because fortune only favors the bold.

‘TUF: Brazil 3’ Recap: Episode 7

It’s time to see the fallout from last week’s brawl between coaches Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen . Up first is Silva, who is at the hospital for an X-ray on his right hand. A doctor tells “The Axe Murderer” that he strained a muscle throwing a punch during the altercation, and Silva gets his mitt bandaged. Meanwhile, Sonnen waits in the gym to speak with eliminated heavyweight Job Kleber Melo , who also suffered a hand injury last week during his fight with Richardson Moreira . “First off, I want to tell you what a pleasure this has been,” Sonnen tells his fighter. “With the injury to your hand and being eliminated from the tournament, the only thing left is to train. And the protocol for this environment, if you can’t continue to train, is that you be removed from the environment.” Melo is emotional and feels that he is abandoning his team, prompting Sonnen to embrace the fighter and tell him that he loves him. Back in the locker room, Team Sonnen gives Melo a rousing farewell that reduces the coach to tears.

Video: Can Jon Jones win the UFC heavyweight title? Phil Davis, others weigh in

Glover Teixeira may be a considerable betting underdog to Jon Jones ahead of their UFC light-heavyweight title bout on Saturday at UFC 172, but in the mind of the challenger, he’s actually the favorite.

Live Chat: UFC 172 preview, UFC on FOX 11 recap and more

The bout has all sorts of implications for Jones' career, his standing among all the best in the sport and what's next for the future of the light heavyweight division. The rest of the card has some interesting bouts, but nothing even comes close to the significance of the main event, which is also true for the UFC. Has Jones been marketed to his full potential? In a year where headliners are lacking, would a loss to the relatively unknown (to casuals) Teixeira be a devastating blow?

Tourist's Buddha Tattoo Gets Her Arrested

(Newser) – A British woman learned the hard way that it's not a good idea to visit Sri Lanka if you have a visible Buddha tattoo. Tourist Naomi Michelle Coleman, 37, was arrested after arriving from India at Sri Lanka's main international airport yesterday; she was taken before a judge, who ordered her to be deported. The tattoo, on her right arm, shows the Buddha sitting on a lotus flower, AFP reports. Sri Lanka has a Buddhist majority, and a police spokesperson says she was detained for "hurting others' religious feelings," the Independent notes. She's expected to be deported within days; the same thing happened to a male tourist last year.

Fabricio Werdum Ready for ‘TUF’ Assignment Against Cain Velasquez in Mexico

Fabricio Werdum is looking ahead to a major challenge this fall. | Dave Mandel/ Heavyweight contender Fabricio Werdum extended his winning streak to four on Saturday with a one-sided decision against Travis Browne at UFC on Fox 11 . While few could have predicted that jiu-jitsu ace Werdum would outwork the hard-hitting Hawaiian on the feet, Werdum told on Monday that everything went according to his team’s plan. “I knew conditioning was going to be a big part of it,” said Werdum. “That’s why I put so much emphasis on it with ‘Cobrinha’ [Rubens Charles Maciel], my jiu-jitsu and conditioning coach. Master Rafael [Cordeiro], as usual, led the MMA training and strategy. I’ve been training with him for seven years. Maciel and Cordeiro were not the only ones to whom Werdum turned for input. Also among his game plan advisors were wrestling coach Kenny Johnson , brother Felipe Werdum, Renato “Babalu” Sobral , and even UFC roster-mates Lyoto Machida and Rafael dos Anjos . “We saw that [Browne] always finishes his fights quickly and struggles with stamina when it goes the distance,” Werdum commented.

Alan U.S Marine

Having fallen in love with fitness back in high school drove me to go to college and earn a bachelors degree in movement science and athletic training. As I read through some of Pauline's books and her different concepts I knew right away she knew what he was talking about and wasn't just your fad diet or exercise routines. She understood deep down why changes take place in your body, how they take place, and what needs to be done to control those responses. From that point on I was instantly sold on the fighter diet concept, not just bits and pieces but everything she has put out.

Why it makes sense for the UFC to cut 'boring' fighters

Yet, the unified rules of mixed martial arts have remained almost impressively stagnant since being adopted in 2000. The bigger problem remains that there is no singular governing body to determine the need and implementation of rule changes. The Association of Boxing Commissions is around to discuss and suggest changes annually, but they don't have any official authority over state commissions. So, even if they approve a rule change, it's up to each state commission to find a way to to enact that change or not. That's why we see variance state-to-state in the exact wording of the unified rules interpretations.

UFC on FOX 11 Final TV Ratings See Uptick to 2.5 Million Viewers |

The UFC has now held springtime events on Fox for the past three years. UFC on FOX 11 paled in comparison to the UFC on FOX 7 average viewership of 3.7 million viewers, but was slightly better than Spring 2012, however, which drew an average of 2.4 million viewers to UFC on FOX 3.

This morning, I saw a video clip of a nasty 40-pounder doing padwork with an intensity I can only dream of , and I had to find out who that little beast was. Turns out, he’s a five-year-old from Lebanon named Ramadan Ondash, who was trained by his older brother Ahmad Ondash, a Muay Thai coach. And that’s pretty much all I could find out. But if the UFC still exists in 15 years, watch out for this kid.

Bjorn Rebney: There will be a ‘30-35 pound weight disparity’ between Ortiz and Shlemenko on fight night

"It's 20 pounds on paper, but legitimately, Shlemenko walks around at 190." Rebney told . "He's a guy who cuts four pounds, who stops eating big meals a day and a half before the fight to cut four pounds of water weight to make 185. He's a typical Eastern European fighter who's not interested in the cut. By the time that fight goes into the cage, you're probably looking at a 30-, 35-pound weight disparity between Tito and Alexander. I think that's what gives a lot of the punch behind that big fight that we've got coming up in May."

The most important supply in any emergency situation is knowledge.  I grew up camping in the Pine Barrens of NJ, the Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania Mountains and later the rainy Pacific Northwest forests, Las Vegas desert, and Utah canyons. When I was younger, I spent weeks at a time in the middle of the ocean working as a mate on a tuna boat.  I am very comfortable surrounded by nature, so much in fact, that I have the deepest respect and admiration of nature’s power. I never take safety or comfort for granted. You are just one bear, dead engine, or unexpected storm front from a potential emergency situation.

UFC 172’s Danny Castillo initially disappointed with UFC Fight Pass placement

“I woke up a little upset this morning and just kind of took a step back to try to be thankful of where I’m at,” Castillo said this past week when he learned of his bout’s placement. “There are hundreds of thousands of guys training to be in my position, so all I can do is be grateful for it and not be bitter. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, I can see the positives, and it’s just added motivation or me to succeed and have a great fight.

UFC 172 Notebook: Barbaric Intentions

Luke Rockhold has earned a reputation as a quick finisher. | Photo: Dave Mandel/ Luke Rockhold follows a clear and concise mode of operation. The former Strikeforce champion will lock horns with Tim Boetsch in a featured middleweight scrap at UFC 172 “Jones vs. Teixeira” on Saturday at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore. Believed by many to be on the fast track to title contention in the Ultimate Fighting Championship ’s 185-pound weight class, Rockhold has recorded nine wins in his past 10 bouts, eight of them first-round finishes. “I prepare for a war, but I plan on just destroying whoever’s in front of me,” he said during the “Countdown to UFC 172” show. Rockhold last appeared at UFC Fight Night 35 in January, when he rebounded from a knockout loss to Vitor Belfort and dispatched Costas Philippou with a vicious first-round liver kick at Philips Arena in Duluth, Ga. The 29-year-old American Kickboxing Academy export already owns wins over Tim Kennedy and Ronaldo Souza , but the significance of his first victory inside the Octagon was not lost on him.

Countdown to UFC 172: Luke Rockhold vs Tim Boetsch

Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Luke Rockhold braces to meet Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch at UFC 172 in Baltimore. Follow as Countdown takes you behind the scenes before the big event.

Leave it to Bellator to put a popcorn match on the main card of their first-ever pay-per-view. Nate Jolly has never fought for Bellator, and it’s not like he’s a name that casual fans would at least recognize. If they wanted to use the regional star to entice the locals to buy tickets, there’s no reason why they couldn’t put this fight on the preliminaries and bump Mike Richman vs. Goiti Yamauchi to the main card. Likewise, if they wanted to use this fight to get Will Brooks — a 13-1 fighter who has gone 5-1 in Bellator — over with the fans, then why not book Brooks against a fighter that the average Bellator fan would actually recognize?

Common opponent Kaufman predicts UFC 175’s Rousey vs. Davis title fight

“It will be interesting to see if it’s a faster fight or a longer fight,” Kaufman said. “The latter plays to Alexis, and the former plays to Ronda. I think if it goes into the later rounds, Alexis has a lot of durability, Ronda’s speed is going to be a big factor for Alexis in the first two to three rounds.”

Keisha & The Butt Bible

Although I still have a good amount of fat to loose (mostly my lower half), I am happy to see the LIFT happening.

UFC on FOX 11 does 2.5 million viewers

The Fabricio Werdum vs. Travis Browne main event, most of which took place after 10 p.m., did a 2.0 rating and 3.3 million viewers. The inclusion of the main event also took the show from third place in the 18-49 demo for the night to tying ABC for first place on network TV.  It was second in Males 18-49 overall, behind NBA playoff coverage on ESPN. Had the main event itself been considered a separate half hour show, it would have been in the top five in Males 18-34 among prime time shows for the past week among all network broadcasts.

'Cyborg' Justino rep: Ronda Rousey attacks verbally because 'she can't physically'

“I’ve said before, I don’t care if she’s injecting horse semen into her eyeballs, I’ll fight her, but that’s just my personal decision,” Rousey told Yahoo! Sports. “But I can’t make a decision for the whole division. I can’t say it’s the right thing. This girl has been on steroids for so long and [has been] injecting herself for so long that she’s not even a woman anymore. She’s an ‘it.’ It’s not good for the women’s division. It’s not good at all.”

Tweet of the day: Bisping and Rockhold trade barbs

I can see the track Bisping is on, hoping to get another quick fight with a relevant name opponent and shake off the aura of his recent poor showing, but it feels like Rockhold is at a different point in the division right now. His first offer to take on Brad Tavares or, to throw another name into the hat, possibly fighting Tim Boetsch if he should lose to Rockhold, seem like more appropriate fights for a man who no longer has a win over a single active UFC competitor.
