Morning Report: UFC paying to have Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira randomly drug tested ahead of UFC 172

"I just think it would be great to know that the athletes that are competing are competing clean," said Jones. "I've never taken any type of performance enhancing drug and I don't think any of my opponents should. I know that I've probably fought people in the past who have and I'm still coming up with a way to win. I just think it's important that it goes away. I want to see our sport be a clean sport. I want to see athletes really have pride in hard work. That's why I put my money where my mouth is and get the test myself."

Daniel Cormier vs. Dan Henderson set for UFC 175, winner to receive title shot

I do stress again that the UFC said that Gustafsson is next in line for the Jones/Teixeira winner, meaning that the Cormier/Henderson winner faces the Gustafsson vs. Jones/Teixeira victor. The UFC's "promised title shot" has been a bit of a joke in recent years, but this scenario is a lot more believable if Jones/Glover (April 26th) vs. Gustafsson is made official before UFC 175. It would be a seamless transition with a backup plan in case Gustafsson is unable to compete.

5 Signs That You Might Have A Sensitivity To Gluten & Not Know It

To recognize a gluten sensitivity is not the easiest thing to do as symptoms can overlap other health issues making it difficult to distinguish what is causing what. It is important to determine whether we have a sensitivity to gluten because not only can we increase our health and quality of living by doing so but we can avoid having the ignored sensitivity turn to Celiac Disease. Generally blood tests are used to determine whether or not you are sensitive to gluten but these tests are not always completely accurate making it important to check with your gut feeling if you are showing any of these symptoms.

Video: Chris Weidman goes for a run just one day after double-knee surgery

Oh that Chris Weidman, always has to get one up on Anderson Silva. Just like "The Spider" has been pushing out videos of his quick recovery from leg surgery , the UFC middleweight champion hopped on the rehab bandwagon and released his own video ( via Instagram ) of his brief jog just 24 hours after having surgery on both knees. The "All American" needs just four-to-six weeks to recover, giving him more than enough time to prepare for Lyoto Machida at UFC 175 on July 5, 2014 ( more on that here ). I'd say he's off to a damn good start.

Akira Corassani: Fighting's A Family Thing

In a fighting sense, Akira Corassani fancies himself a gangster. And while Renzo Gracie , the leader of the Renzo Gracie Fight Team, may be the Godfather, if you talk to the UFC featherweight, he is a more than willing soldier in his second family. “Everything I’m doing here in America and my development as a fighter, I give all credit to Ricardo Almeida , Mark Henry, Brian Blue, Chris Ligouri , Steve Rivera, Frankie Edgar , Frankie Perez, Jamal Patterson, Edson Barboza and Marlon Moraes,” he says. “We’re the East Coast Mafia man. We’re taking over.” Corassani will be facing one of the toughest guys in the featherweight division on April 16th at the TUF Nations: Canada vs Australia finale in Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier, a fighter he’s uniquely familiar with. “On paper, yeah, he’s the toughest so far, but we have to figure that out when we get into the cage,” he said. “Dustin and I were roommates in Colorado. We went to camp together. We went as sparring partners. We were sparring each other for a while. He knows what I had and I know what he had back then. This is not personal, this is business.

Boxer To Entrepreneur: How Dana White Became The Champ Of Mixed Martial Arts

In the meantime, White’s own interests expanded from boxing to the nascent world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), a young sport that promised no-holds-barred action from athletes trained in fighting styles ranging from wrestling to Muay Thai and everything in between. White was soon managing a few MMA fighters who featured in bouts presented by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), a promotional company that positioned itself as MMA’s dominant presence. Drawn into a contract dispute with UFC on behalf of his fighters, White did what any David would do when outmatched by a towering Goliath: He looked for an angle, an approach that would let him floor an opponent who could destroy him head-on. He looked for that key opening, that chink in the giant’s armor, and he found it.

Why Metamoris 3 represented everything I love about Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

There were many other impressive performances from competitors like Dean Lister and Renato “Babalu” Sobral who had a fun match and proved that big guys can be technical and exciting to watch. Keenan Cornelius kept up with his winning ways and was able to submit and a game Kevin Casey who took the match on 30 minute notice due to Vinny Magalhaes having to drop out last minute due to a staph infection. Rafa Mendes and Clark Gracie had a very technical match. Mendes showed a sophisticated and aggressive style of jiu-jitsu but the heavier Gracie was able to defend and contain the dangerous Mendes to gain a draw in their match. The other half of the Mendes brothers “Gui” showed that same attacking brand of jiu-jitsu and earned a submission win over the technical Samir Chantre proving why the Mendes brothers are considered some of the best pound for pound best grapplers on the planet. Sean Roberts and Zak Maxwell kicked off the night with a highly entertaining match that saw Roberts get off to a great start in the first 10 minutes and Maxwell finishing very strong in the last 10.

‘TUF Nations: Canada vs. Australia’ Recap: Episode 12

The second welterweight finalist will be decided tonight, as Team Canada’s Olivier Aubin-Mercier locks horns with Australian Richard Walsh to earn a crack at Chad Laprise and a six-figure UFC contract. Tonight’s episode leads off with the coaches’ challenge, and it is one of the show’s more inventive competitions to date. Patrick Cote and Kyle Noke will compete for the inaugural and imaginary French-Canadian Lumberjack Moose Cup by participating in three events: the ax throw, the crossbow marksmanship duel and the old-timey hand-saw sprint. Additionally, a fat $20,000 in American cash is on the line. Noke can’t find his mark during the ax throw, which Cote wins after burying the blade into the target on his third and final try, prompting Team Canada to erupt like the Habs just won the Stanley Cup. In the crossbow competition, both coaches graze a hanging apple with their second shot, but Noke pulls a Robin Hood with his final attempt, piercing the center of the fleshy fruit. With the score tied 1-1, the coaches will now take hold of the long, spiny-toothed hand-saw.

Twitter Mailbag: Fowlkes on surprise drug tests, DC-Hendo and the Rousey sweepstakes

In matches like the one between  Eddie Bravo and Royler Gracie , a draw doesn’t prevent us from talking about who we think won (Bravo) and who we think is still walking funny (Gracie). It doesn’t matter whether it went down that way in the record books or not, because the official outcome of one match doesn’t necessarily affect potential future matches. MMA doesn’t have that luxury. Companies like the UFC need to maintain a consistent narrative line, so that what happens on one Saturday night feels relevant to future Saturday nights. In this way, MMA is the search for one fighter in each weight class. Metamoris – which, again, I enjoyed the hell out of – is the search for one good day of grappling. That’s all. And that’s fine.

Chael Sonnen still thinks Wanderlei Silva will find a way out of their fight

"It's one of those things where, something stinks here," Sonnen said Tuesday after a sparring session at the Reign MMA gym. "He's talking more than ever. He's saying things like ‘Chael better not get hurt' and ‘Chael better not fall out.' I've never pulled out, ever. If I'm hurt or I'm sick, I just show up. Never do I complain or I pull out. What that's telling me, he's going to claim he's hurt. He's just doing all these things to tip his hand here, and something stinks and I don't know what it is, but something's going on."

Fact Check: Bellator 115

Can Vitaly Minakov pass his latest test? | Photo: Keith Mills/Sherdog.com Vitaly Minakov has become a full-fledged brute. The undefeated Russian will defend his Bellator MMA heavyweight title against onetime Ultimate Fighting Championship mainstay Cheick Kongo in the Bellator 115 main event on Friday at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nev. A four-time world champion in sambo, the 29-year-old Minakov has dispatched his last seven opponents with strikes. Minakov -- who has finished five different foes in less than a minute -- has not competed since he captured the heavyweight crown with a first-round technical knockout against fellow Russian Alexander Volkov at Bellator 108 in November. Since arriving in Bellator in 2012, the judo black belt has rattled off four straight wins, emerging as one of the world’s premier heavyweights and surfacing as a potential cornerstone for the promotion. Kongo locked down his title shot by winning the Season 9 heavyweight tournament, as he dismissed Mark Godbeer with second-round knees and punches in the semifinals before ousting Australian kickboxer Peter Graham by unanimous decision in the final.
