1 TUF News: The Ultimate Fighter 19: Episode 2 Recap

The episode opens with the fighters arriving at the house and picking out their bunks. Many of them are excited for the opportunity, and it’s finally starting to hit home that they’re on The Ultimate Fighter. There’s no time to admire the decor, though, as we immediately move into breaking down this week’s fight between Team Penn’s Cathal Pendred and Team Edgar’s Hector Urbina. Even though he didn’t have to fight to make it into the house, Pendred isn’t short on confidence. “I know that I’m better than [Hector] everywhere.” He considers himself an all-around threat and wants to make a statement to the entire house. Hector knows that Pendred is already looking past him, but doesn’t mind the Irishman’s confidence. He tells us, “Cathal doesn’t understand what he has coming.” We glimpse into each team’s training session. BJ Penn is amazed at all the talent on the mat and excitedly states that, “This is the future of Mixed Martial Arts.” Frankie Edgar knows that TUF can be a grind and he wants to instill in his fighters the mental toughness that made him a world champion. We then see each coach’s support staff.

The Ultimate Fighter 19: Season Preview

Things don't get any easier for the 16 contenders after fighting their way into the Ultimate Fighter house. Tune to see who perseveres through all the ups and downs to become the new middleweight and light heavyweight Ultimate Fighter.

Rafael dos Anjos vs. Jason High Added to UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque |

Following the loss to Brenneman, High put together a seven-fight winning streak and was re-signed by the promotion. He was defeated by Erick Silva in his first fight back in the UFC, but is currently on a two-fight winning streak. He last fought at UFC 167 on Nov. 16, 2013, defeating Anthony Lapsley by unanimous decision.

Why You Should Never Eat Tilapia

However, the tilapia we’re eating is almost entirely a farmed fish, meaning you cannot find wild tilapia in any grocery store or on any restaurant menu. And the farming is usually done on an industrial scale, with thousands of fish being harvested every day. Their feed is not natural — in the wild, tilapia would eat algae and lake plants, but the farms fatten up the fish on GMO corn and soy pellets. The amount of healthful fish oils in these creatures is almost non-existent, negating the main reason why fish is so good for us.

Trailer for 'EA Sports UFC' Emerges, Explains How Gamers Must Rise Through Ranks

EA Sports UFC is set to drop on June 17, 2014, and from the looks of this freshly released trailer, it should be quite the experience.

Brendan Schaub draws 'legend' Andrei Arlovski at UFC 174

"My manager called me and I was actually on the beach doing a recovery workout and he goes 'I got some news for you'.  He goes 'it's a big one' and I knew the Mark Hunt stuff, Mark was dragging his feet and they wanted to wait till August or September so I was like who do we got?  He goes 'Andrei Arlovski' and you got him June 14," Schaub told FOX Sports on Friday.  "I couldn't be more excited.  Andrei and I have trained together before, he trains at a world-class level. For me it's a legend, it's a world-class fighter.  We'll definitely be the talk of UFC 174."

Martin Kampmann being considered for head coaching gig with Team Alpha Male

It was reported that Kampmann was the one who initiated talks with Team Alpha Male, writing what Faber called a "very impressive letter." The "Hitman" becomes the first candidate that the team has looked at to replace Ludwig, who is leaving the team to open his own gym in Colorado on May 24. Though Ludwig helped Faber turnaround his career and get to a title shot against Renan Barao at UFC 169 , the team still hasn't gotten over the hump of winning a title. Dillashaw will get the next opportunity in June at UFC 174 in Vancouver, when he takes his shot against Barao.

UFC Fight Night in Dublin adds McCall-Pickett, Latifi-Lawlor, Harris-Serry, Donovan-Krylov

Latifi (8-3-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) made his UFC debut as a light heavyweight, filling in on short notice to face Gegard Mousasi in a losing effort. He was given a second chance in the promotion and earned an emotional submission win over Cyrille Diabate in March. He returns to action for a fight against the always-entertaining “Filthy” Lawlor (9-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who hasn’t fought since an April 2013 win over Michael Kuiper.

Joe Ellenberger vs Frank Trevino scrap set for Texas tussle at UFC Fight Night 44

Josh Barnett recovering from knee injury, eyes rubber match against Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

"I don't have high hopes for it, but really what it came from was, it was really based on Nogueira's statement of saying I want one more fight and then I want to retire. So, if he wanted to go out, retire, if he wanted to retire a year ago, that's his prerogative. But if he's going to make a statement that he wants only one more fight ... I mean, there's only one more fight for him to take and that's between the two of us and that's because we'd have a trilogy. That's all. I don't think he actually beat me the second time, but since I didn't go out and finish him, I have to accept even if the judges decision I feel is the wrong one, it's just the way it has to go. That's why I said look, you want to be bold, you want to go and call out, you say you want one more fight ... there's only one more fight you should even be considering. I don't know why he wants to go after (Frank) Mir, he was never really competitive in those fights ... well, the second one he was winning, but really threw it away in the end."

Live Chat: UFC 172 recap, GLORY 16, Bellator 118 and Mayweather vs. Maidana preview

There's a lot going on, so join me today to discuss all of this and more. In terms of today's chat, anything is up for discussion, but I will lead with this and it all kicks off at 1 p.m. ET .

Short on Time

Floyd Mayweather will enter his next bout at 45-0. | Photo: Mike Sloan/ Floyd Mayweather sat there, elbows on knees, dressed in a sharp black T-shirt, and cast a childlike gaze at the circus of humanity in front of him. They came in all shapes and sizes and they all wanted a piece of him, to touch him, to see him and to pay homage to him like he was some sort of shaman with the answers to life. Earlier that night, Mayweather had completed answering any questions about his toughness by dispensing Shane Mosley in 12 rounds and surviving the biggest scare of his professional career: a second-round Mosley right that buzzed him. In the wee hours of the morning the next day, Mayweather was still celebrating his victory in a sober, understated way. He sat there basking in the adulation of his worshipers at a swank Las Vegas nightclub. For a moment, “Money” was transparent and vulnerable. He was in a gregarious, effuse mood when he blurted out something that may have shocked fight fans worldwide: He cares. He cares what people think, believes his legacy is important and wants to be remembered as one of the all-time greats.

Marcos Maidana's trainer says Cain Velasquez could be a boxing champion

"I think this guy is not only great at what he does but he could also be a great boxer, because he’s got tremendous power,” Garcia said. “When I hold the mits with Cain Velasquez, right away I told his people that brought him, I said, ‘What do you guys think about training for boxing, because this guy could make a lot of noise in professional boxing?’ He’s got skills and tremendous power. He’s got good boxing skills."

After UFC stint, Pat Barry returns to his first love -- kickboxing |

What's serendipitous for Barry is that he now has the opportunity to return to his first love, kickboxing, and make a living at it. "You hear people say all of the time, 'I love this so much I'd do it for free.' Nope, that's not true. That sounds really cool to say, but no one would really do that for free," said the fighter. "Getting punched in the head hurts. Getting your arm broken hurts. As much as you might love the sport, love competing and want to be around it all day and night, the reality is that we also have to be able to provide. Many of us out here have families, have little ones, have mothers and fathers we're taking care of. You have to be able to provide."

Former UFC star Pat Barry going home at Glory 16

About a month ago, Barry took a warm up kickboxing bout and was successful with a knockout (clip below). On Saturday, Barry will make his Glory debut, fighting in his new home of Denver. The colorful KO artist tells us that he's been having the time of his life being back in a strictly kickboxing training camp.

Palhares out of WSOF fight with Fitch, Abdel-Aziz unamused

Rousimar Palhares has pulled out of his WSOF title fight for reasons unknown, and the promotion's VP and matchmaker isn't pleased with it.

Rousimar Palhares withdraws from Jon Fitch fight to take care of his mother

Unfortunately right now my family and I, we are facing a big fight, the fight for health, for life. My mother had 13 children, and devoted her life to educate and raised me, my brothers and sisters. At this point God tells me that I need to focus 100 percent of my life to take care of my mother. I'm doing everything possible, dedicating myself to the fullest in order to ensure that the person who put me in this world will be health again.

Vitor Belfort says he's ready to return. How about coming clean first?

The commission is not legally allowed to release the results since Belfort voluntarily took the test without providing consent to disclose them. But Belfort could release them whenever he wants to. In refusing to do so, he has drawn a black cloud over his own head. Michael Bisping and Luke Rockhold, among others, have publicly reasoned that no one would hide a clean result. That seems a very logical conclusion, doesn't it? Especially since we know he failed a test in the past, back in 2006.

Glover Teixeira Regrets Letting Jon Jones Secure Shoulder Crank at UFC 172

Glover Teixeira hopes to get another crack at Jon Jones somewhere down the line. | Dave Mandel/ Glover Teixeira came up short in his bid for light heavyweight gold at UFC 172 , falling to reigning champion Jon Jones via unanimous decision at the Baltimore Arena in Baltimore this past Saturday. In an interview with, the heavy-handed Brazilian looks back on the experience and discusses the shoulder crank that would ultimately change the entire complexion of the fight. Teixeira also offers insight into his future plans and shares his thoughts on the highly-anticipated Jones- Alexander Gustafsson rematch. When you look back on your bout with Jon Jones at UFC 172, what do you think you should have done differently? I haven't seen the entire fight -- just a few moments -- but I was very upset for letting him get that arm crank. I really didn't expect that. I thought he was going to try a takedown, but that hurt my shoulder. The only thing that maybe I wouldn't let him do was that arm crank. The rest of the fight, with [a healthy] right shoulder and the confidence I have in my knockout power, it might have been different.

The 30-year-old de Randamie is a Dutch native and accomplished striker who has in recent years turned her attention to MMA. A three-time Strikeforce veteran, de Randamie fought briefly at 145 pounds but returned to bantamweight for her UFC run, which began with a split-decision win over Julie Kedzie in July 2013. In November, she returned to action but was outwrestled by Amanda Nunes and suffered a first-round TKO loss.

Rankings focus: Anthony Johnson might not think he's a contender, but he is

He's No. 2 at 185 in the rankings after Anderson Silva. Fine. But why is he ranked at light heavyweight and why on Earth did he move up a spot to No. 12 this week? Belfort is a middleweight. Yes, he fought Dan Henderson at 205 in the fall, but it's pretty clear "The Phenom" is in the middleweight title picture, not the light heavyweight one.

Glory 16 fight preview: Heavyweight tournament

This is going to be good. In Edwards vs. Zimmerman you have your classic Heavyweight fight - two big guys, with huge power and sometimes breach-able defense, ready to throw bombs. Australia's Edwards is coming off an incredible come from behind win over Jamal Ben Saddik at Glory 12. In that fight, Edwards showed great heart, staying in the fight until the closing minutes, then taking advantage and blasting a tired Ben Saddik for the win. An extremely heavy handed fighter, Edwards has KO wins over a wide range of fighters. He also holds the record for fastest ever K-1 tournament win, defeating three opponents in a combined time of roughly 3:30.
