Stevenson vs. Bika Results: Premier Boxing Champions on CBS Play-by-Play

Adonis Stevenson vs. Sakio Bika Round 1 Stevenson comes out in his southpaw stance and pops his challenger with a meager jab. Bika is a little passive early, not looking to let his fists go just yet. Adonis tags him with a sweeping right to the body but his follow-up left to the head is stuffed. Bika paws with a triple left jab and then clinches as soon as Stevenson gets close. The action is starting pick up as the two light heavies are mixing it up late, but nothing clean lands from either. Very close round but the champ gets it. 10-9 Stevenson. Round 2 They both paw with range-finding jabs until Stevenson rocks him with a loopy overhand right. Bika backs away with a huge grin and then clinches him. Bika misses with a monstrous right and left, but he keeps his posture, avoiding the returning fire. Stevenson is taking his time and tags him repeatedly with the jab. Nice straight left hand lands flush on Bika, whose knees tremble a bit with 30 seconds left. The Aussie is tagged again by a clean right but he grins as he backs away. 10-9 Stevenson. Round 3 Stevenson is in total control with the jab and counter left.

UFC Fight Night 63 results: Dustin Poirier smashes Diego Ferreira in 155 return

Poirier found his comfort zone and landed a shot that dropped Ferreira. When he couldn’t get the finish, he backed off, allowed Ferreira back to his feet, and opened up with a big series of shots. Ferreira was dropped again after eating a short right uppercut, and this time Poirier continued to unload until the referee was forced to stop the fight at the 3:45 mark of Round 1.

UFC Fight Night Results: ‘Mendes vs. Lamas’ Play-by-Play & Updates

Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Timothy Johnson Round 1 Abdurakhimov lands a few early leg kicks as the southpaw Johnson walks forward. The big men circle the cage, winding up back in the center, where Johnson charges behind a punch to put Abdurakhimov on the fence. Abdurakhimov reverses, backs off and puts another kick on Johnson’s lead leg. Abdurakhimov catches Johnson with a hard uppercut and follow-up left hook, and now Johnson wants the fight back on the fence. Abdurakhimov absorbs a knee to the gut before he’s able to turn Johnson around. Referee Mike King continues to warn Abdurakhimov for grabbing the fence. After four warnings, King takes one point away from Abdurakhimov. The round resumes with just over half the round remaining. Johnson gets hold of Abdurakhimov with a body lock and tries to trip the Russian to the ground, but Abdurakhimov stays standing and puts his back to the fence before reversing Johnson in the clinch. Johnson gets loose and charges forward swinging punches, clashing heads with Abdurakhimov while barging into the pocket. Johnson clips Abdurakhimov with a right hand as the round enters its final minute.

Clay Guida explains bizarre call out of President Obama at UFC Fight Night 63

“Like I said, first I wanted to wish everyone a happy Easter on a very sacred holiday, because without the big man above, none of this would even be possible,” Guida said. “And then I said, ‘With all due respect, Mr. Obama, if you’re not too busy golfing or playing with your bracketology and your NCAA Final Four things, or if you’re handling our nation’s important issues – hopefully you are. Come on over to Fairfax, Va., which I think is your backyard or side yard, and watch the fastest growing sport in the world. And, if you couldn’t be live at this one – I know a lot of fans would have liked to see him and his wife here – maybe you’ll make another one down the road.’

UFC Fight Night 63 results: Liz Carmouche gets controversial nod over Lauren Murphy

For most of this fight, Carmouche seemed content to keep her back to the fence, circling away and looking to counter-punch as Murphy stalked her behind a series of tentative punch combinations that fell consistently short. Although she didn’t have much luck at range against Carmouche, Murphy managed to be most effective in the clinch, suffocating her opponent against the fence and grinding her way into the occasional takedown.

UFC Fight Night 63 results: Michael Chiesa cruises in dominant win over Mitch Clarke

In the third, already suffering from an insurmountable deficit on the scorecards, Clarke managed to bait Chiesa into a standup battle, with both men landing big shots in a weary, back-and-forth brawl. While Chiesa seemed to be running out of gas somewhat, he took Clarke’s best punches and came back with a few of his own as the two men battered each other until the final horn. When it was over, there was little doubt that Chiesa was the victor, as two of three judges awarded him 10-8 rounds in the first two frames.

Clay Guida wins decision, calls out lightweight champ Rafael Dos Anjos

Scores were 30-27 all around for Guida. After the win, Guida mixed together a strange group of call-outs, wishing everyone a happy Easter, expressing skepticism that President Obama is working as hard as he can for our nation, and then calling out new lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos, who Guida submitted in 2010, after breaking his jaw.

TIE Fighter - short film

What if there was an Empire-focussed short Star Wars animation, drawn with the crazy detail and shading of classic 80s anime that's all but vanished from Japan nowadays? Well, I tried my best. Apologies in advance for not living up to Venus Wars standards. Drawn and animated by yours truly over 4 years' worth of weekends, with music by the living guitar solo Zak Rahman and sound design by up and coming audio technician Joseph Leyva. Fans of Lucasarts' seminal 1994 TIE Fighter game may notice a few familiar sights and sounds. That “incoming missile” noise gives me horrible flashbacks to this day... Official poster art: “Interdictor,” the music track: Story/character info pdf file: Twitter: Special thanks to the good folk at Lucasfilm for encouraging people to get creative and make these kind of projects. It's thanks to their extremely fan-friendly nature that we can enjoy IMPS: The Relentless, TROOPS, etc.

How Bill Goldberg is taking a page out of CM Punk's book

"I have never spent the time to learn, and do believe at an [advanced] age, and my joints the way that they are, it's probably not the most conducive training to me feeling...good (laughs). I'm a realist. I love the ground game, but I'm not a student of it. So, I would be more behind the 8-ball than anyone that would be realistically entering an MMA career."

It's his biggest dream.' If you could just plug that in to a human body, I promise you the entire world would never hate on you on social media. They would never make bad comments towards you. Paul Walker’s True Passion: Whatever Happened to Walker’s Disaster-Relief Rescue Squad?

“Because of my travels with work and pleasure, a lot of the times disasters would strike in areas that I’d been,” Walker said. “You think of the faces—they might not be people you're in contact with but you can't help but wonder how that family was you had dinner with. That stuff starts crossing your mind and you feel so helpless. I would be consumed with anger, like, ‘Fuck! I wanna be there, I wanna do whatever I can.’ One of my best friends had heard it too many times and ultimately he just held me accountable. He punked me out: ‘So you gonna pack your bags and go to Haiti and help out or what?’”

Bill Goldberg’s Hard-Hitting Interview on Glory 20

Two months after the first conversation I had with Glory I was offered a fight, and it was just way too soon. If Goldberg is going to fight there has to be the proper build up. I’m seriously considering taking a fight at Glory but it sure as hell isn’t going to be within the next couple months. I got to have the proper training camp and it’s not a one shot deal; there’s a very strategic plan that we are trying to put into place.

Dustin Poirier Able to Focus on Fight, Not Weight Cut Competing at 155 Pounds

Dustin Poirier looked sharp at lightweight on Saturday. | Photo: Dave Mandel/ Dustin Poirier had a successful featherweight run in the UFC , compiling an 8-3 record and breaking into the division’s top 10 in the process. However, due to a consistently draining weight cut, the 26-year-old says he didn’t really get to savor any of it. “I would have to start at least two months out. Everything would have to be weighted out and ate at a certain time. If I ate a couple almonds that I wasn’t supposed to, I would be heavier the next day. It was really down as low as I could get my body to at 145; it was tough. It made fight week not enjoyable.” That changed ahead of UFC Fight Night “Mendes vs. Lamas,” where Poirier, competing at 155 pounds for the first time since 2010, authored an entertaining -- and more enjoyable -- first-round knockout of Carlos Diego Ferreira at the Patriot Center, in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday afternoon. “I had a blast this week. I was comfortable. It was a lot less stress,” he admitted.

UFC Fight Night 63 results: Timothy Johnson pounds out Shamil Abdurahimov

Although Abdurahimov seemed to be doing an adequate job of defending himself from the blows, he had no way of answering them and couldn’t free himself from the precarious position. With time ticking down and King warning him to fight back, Abdurahimov could only cover up and wait to be saved by the bell. With just three seconds left in the round, however, King stepped in to stop it, giving Johnson the TKO win.

Chad Mendes finished Ricardo Lamas in the opening period. | Photo: Josh Hedges/UFC/Zuffa/Getty Chad Mendes is still very much a contender in the UFC’s featherweight division. The Team Alpha Male standout blasted past Ricardo Lamas in the UFC Fight Night “Mendes vs. Lamas” main event at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday afternoon, putting away his opponent 2:45 into round one. It was the sixth win in seven outings for Mendes, who was coming off a hard-fought defeat in a title bout against Jose Aldo at UFC 179. With another impressive triumph in the books, Mendes figures to take a keen interest in the result of the upcoming title tilt between Aldo and Conor McGregor at UFC 189. Here is a by the numbers look at UFC Fight Night “Mendes vs. Lamas,” with statistics courtesy of 12: UFC/ World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight victories for Mendes, second most in the history of the two promotions behind only reigning UFC 145-pound champion Jose Aldo (15). 5: Finishes in UFC competition for Mendes, tying him with Dustin Poirier for most in the featherweight division.

Of course, should Conor McGregor beat Aldo in July, it's a whole different ball game. Mendes lands a quick right-hook counter and puts Lamas down and follows up in expert fashion for the stop. The official time is just 2:45 of the opening frame. Most importantly, after Lamas was hurt and desperately shooting, Mendes methodically took his time, stuffed his takedowns, let him get back to his feet, hurt him again, rinsed and repeated.

Al Iaquinta on Profane Post-Fight Outburst: ‘It Hurts to Hear People Booing You’

Al Iaquinta picked up Saturday’s most controversial win. | Photo: Dave Mandel/ The first emotion Al Iaquinta experienced following his bout with Jorge Masvidal was not relief at having escaped with a controversial split-decision victory in the UFC Fight Night “Mendes vs. Lamas” co-main event. Instead, the lightweight known as “Ragin’ Al” felt anger and resentment as the boos rained down from those in attendance at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va., on Saturday afternoon. When it came time to discuss his victory in a post-fight interview with UFC commentator Jon Anik, Iaquinta didn’t hold back, unleashing a profane tirade at fans who were unhappy with the judges’ decision. While many observers felt that Masvidal did enough to get the nod from the cageside judges, Iaquinta took the immediate reaction personally. “I train hard every day and when I go in there, win or lose….I want the crowd to cheer. I feel like I showed a lot of heart; I pushed through a tough first round,” he said. “That fight would have been ‘Fight of the Night,’ but I think he took the second round off.
