1 UFC Fight Night: Lorenz Larkin discusses his new amateur MMA promotion

I would never take a fight with Michael. I train with him and it's happened before in MMA where two teammates have fought, but it's just not in my nature to do something like that. He's shown me so much in the fight game. I look up to him like a big brother. He's always been open to questions and extra training and is helpful to me all the time. He's a great guy and training partner, and I just couldn't do that, and it doesn't even matter about the money.

Two weeks after Chris Beal gave us a spectacular walk-off flying knee knockout in the UFC, Bellator middleweight Brian Rogers landed one of his own against Adrian Miles, during the prelims of last night’s Bellator 119 event in Rama, Ontario, Canada. The way Miles crumples in a Nelmark-esque heap is pretty gnarly — especially because his eyes remain open when he’s out. Yeesh.

UFC Fight Night 40 results, photos: Albert Tumenov flattens Anthony Lapsley

Tumenov, who suffered a split-decision defeat to Ildemar Alcantara in his octagon debut, gets back in the win column, and the 22-year-old Russian is now 9-1 in his past 10 fights. Lapsley, meanwhile, has now dropped two straight after posting five consecutive wins to earn a UFC contract.

UFC Fight Night Cincinnati: Heavy Hands interview of Lorenz Larkin, fight week

Lorenz Larkin was outworked by Brad Tavares in his last UFC bout, mainly due to his lack of striking volume. In this exclusive interview, the UFC middleweight says that he plans to do less waiting and more fighting against Costa Philippou this weekend.

The Butt Bible Pak

“So I finally came back after a short period of studying for my law school entrance exam, and I’m finally ready to post result pictures from doing the Fighter Diet and the Butt Bible Workout. I don’t have a long story, honestly, I just have always been bottom heavy even though I’m 5’1 and 115 lbs. Well guess what, the butt bible  transformed my butt ! I’m still working out as I have a few more weeks to go, but here are some results pix. Yes, they are pictures of my butt; however, I am in a bathing suit The space next to it is blank because I’m waiting to put up week 4 and week 6. sooo here we goooooo …. as you can tell in the first week, i had a dimple in my butt cheek (lol) saddle bags , jiggly thighs, and a saggy butt.. and week 3 the dimple has disappeared and my saddle

To be fair, this isn’t the worst school we’ve seen on Martial Arts Fail . The facilities these guys have (the foam padded rooms, the environmental hazard rooms) are actually pretty cool. It’d be interesting to train some real martial arts in those rooms to see what it’s like to fight on a hard surface in the rain rather than open mat space or in a cage. And it’s good that they’re at least trying to do some full contact…they just do it wrong. Look at the video. What is that going to teach the guy getting “attacked?” If three dudes were trying to beat you down, they wouldn’t be awkwardly smothering you, they’d be stomping the shit out of you and punching you. And they wouldn’t be easily dispatched by some slaps either.

The World’s Most Eco-Friendly Car: It’s Made Entirely From Hemp

You would never think that a single plant could solve most of the worlds problems, well it can. Hemp has over  50, 000 uses, why this plant remains illegal is causing confusion among many. Everything from clothes, medicine, fabrics, fuel and more, hemp is definitely a large threat to a variety of corporations that control energy, health and a number of other industries. Many corporations would see a decline in profit if hemp were to be legalized. One in particular this article will focus on is the automobile industry.

Erick Silva: Time to Deliver

Erick Silva may be the Jekyll and Hyde of mixed martial arts. Through seven UFC fights, the Brazilian welterweight has looked like a world beater on some nights and a question mark on others, never stringing together two or more consecutive wins. So nearly three years into his UFC career, how do you determine whether Silva moves forward in one of the sport’s toughest divisions? You give him MMA’s truth machine, Matt Brown , a fighter who will show you whether you are truly ready for prime time. Silva believes he already knows the answer to that question though. “Brown is a tough guy, but I´ve fought tough guys in the past,” said Silva through translator Fernanda Caldas. “The good thing is that he is a stand-up striker, which is what I like, so it is the kind of fight that gets me enthusiastic.” Enthusiastic isn’t the word you would expect to hear from anyone fighting “The Immortal,” but as he heads into Cincinnati for this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night main event, Silva is quietly confident, eager for his headlining gig in the Octagon and the opportunity to win two straight in the organization for the first time.

Are Bellator's Pay-Per-View Efforts Cursed? Eddie Alvarez is Out of Main Event with Concussion |

“Eddie Alvarez has, win or lose, made the determination that he’s going to move on from this promotion,” Spike TV president Kevin Kay told in late April. “If he wins, he can write his own ticket. If he loses, he’s putting himself in a lot of jeopardy. He’s got a lot at stake.

Source: Eddie Alvarez Out, Will Brooks In Against Michael Chandler

Will Brooks is moving up on the Bellator 120 card. | Dave Mandel/ Michael Chandler will compete at Bellator 120 , but not against Eddie Alvarez . on Friday confirmed with a source close to the booking that Will Brooks will replace Alvarez at the May 17 event, which takes place at Landers Center in Southaven, Miss. The card will air on pay-per-view, and the prelims will air live on Spike TV. Although he did not confirm the report that Alvarez was out of May 17’s bout with Chandler, Spike TV President Kevin Kay issued a statement to via text message: “Spike’s only concern right now is the health and well being of one of our top fighters.” Bellator 120 will also see Quinton Jackson lock horns with Muhammed Lawal in the company’s Season 10 light heavyweight tournament final, while Tito Ortiz takes on reigning middleweight champion Alexander Shlemenko in another 205-pound attraction. Brooks, 27, rides a four-fight winning streak into his showdown with Chandler. After coming up short in the Season 8 tournament, Brooks rebounded with a trio of dominant decision victories in Season 9, besting John Alessio , Saad Awad and Alexander Sarnavskiy to capture the tournament crown.

Matt Brown: ‘I don’t think anyone has put on fights as exciting as the ones I have put on’

"I don't think anybody has the kind of streak that I have going," Brown said. "I don't think anyone has put on fights as exciting as the ones I have put on. I don't think any one has finished fights the way I have. I believe I have every right to be at the top, and the only argument is whether I have fought guys who are at a high level as those guys.

Chael Sonnen, Guilherme Vasconcelos Form Bond on ‘The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3’

Chael Sonnen and Guilherme Vasconcelos connected on “TUF: Brazil 3.” | Marcelo Alonso/ The talent level on Season 3 of “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” has impressed Chael Sonnen . “Most of the fights are so [evenly matched] that the results would be different each time,” Sonnen recently told One such example of that was the quarterfinal matchup between Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialists Ricardo Abreu and Guilherme Vasconcelos . Vasconcelos would lose a narrow decision, but he impressed Sonnen enough for the former middleweight title challenger to invite him to the United States to help him prepare to face Wanderlei Silva at UFC 175 on July 5. The friendship between Sonnen and Vasconcelos continued to grow over the past month, so much so that Sonnen asked UFC President Dana White to give the Brazilian a chance in the Octagon. White not only agreed, but he also put the fighter known as “Bomba” on the same card as his “TUF” coach. Vasconcelos will square off with Luke Zachrich in a preliminary contest at UFC 175.

MFC 40 Results and Fight Highlights Video: Sam Alvey Lands Knockout Blow to Retain Title |

Alvey’s teammate Tom “Da Tank” Gallicchio made it a clean sweep in the title department for the Team Quest duo as he claimed the MFC’s vacant lightweight title with an easy first-round submission victory over Kurt Southern. Gallicchio beat Southern via second-round submission at MFC 39 but failed to claim the belt after missing weight. The rematch didn’t change anything, though the result came even faster. Gallicchio (19-8) finished Southern (13-6) with the same rear-naked choke stoppage as their first encounter to pick up his third straight win.

Ryan Ford Injured, David Loiseau-Dwayne Lewis Now Headlines WSOF Canada 2

UFC Vet David Loiseau has won four straight fights. | Jeff Sherwood/ A training injury suffered by Ryan Ford has resulted in the cancellation of his welterweight headliner against Bristol Marunde at WSOF Canada 2 . Instead, a light heavyweight duel pitting David Loiseau against Dwayne Lewis will take top billing on the June 7 card, which takes place at the Edmonton Expo Centre in Edmonton, Alberta. Promotion officials recently announced the change. A nine-time UFC veteran, Loiseau will carry a four-fight winning streak into his meeting with Lewis. The Tristar Gym representative last competed in October, stopping Mike Kent in 15 seconds at ECC 18 “Road to Glory” in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lewis, who was originally expected to face Tim Hague at WSOF Canada 2, has competed primarily for the Maximum Fighting Championship promotion during his 22-bout pro tenure. “D-Bomb” has lost three of his last four fights, most recently falling to Kalib Starnes via second-round TKO at WSOF 7 in December.

Did Dana White study voodoo from Michael Jackson or something? Because Bellator has had worse luck than nearly any promotion in the history of MMA when it comes to launching a successful PPV.

Tito Ortiz on critics of his comeback: 'They're entitled to their opinion'

"People don't understand what fighters at the top have to go through," Ortiz said. "You know what, even half the fighters don't understand what the guys on top are going through. You're being pulled in so many directions. Contract negotiations, business opportunities, people come out of the woodwork, and it all happens when you're so young. I cheated on my first wife Kristin. I thought I was untouchable. How could I be that inconsiderate to someone? When that happens when you're so young, it's easy to get caught up in it."

If Bellator gets its first PPV card off the ground despite Alvarez’s injury and somehow manages to land near the break-even point, future shows will have to be cobbled together using a mix of former UFC fighters and homegrown talent. Throughout this, Bellator will need to stop the UFC from poaching their brightest stars, as was the strategy when Eddie Alvarez attempted to sign with the UFC and Bellator invoked their right to match the offer.

Lani & Fighter Diet Butt Bible

Some stats (I wish I had taken measurements) I started at 123 and am now 128 but my clothes still fit looser than before (I am 5'7").  I have gained so much knowledge, strength, and confidence.  Thanks!  for everything.... I am 39 years old and a proud mother of 2 beautiful girls, almost 3 and 1.5 years.  I discovered your Butt Bible DVD while between pregnancies.  I've always been obsessed with my butt (I know you can relate!) and was bored of the DVD I had been doing so looked around and discovered yours.  I expected another aerobics type of routine that included a lot of body weight squats and lunges....not a weight based workout. I loved your attitude from the start - hard work does pay off and I really found it refreshing that you didn't bull shit your audience into thinking anything but the fact that discipline and dedication were the only way to real results. I have always been a cardio junkie, did some weight training in the past but not for long periods of time.  I really enjoyed the DVD but needed to move on so I looked you up on Facebook and discovered Fighter Diet.

Rebney explains calling Ortiz-Shlemenko a ‘cirque du soleil-esque’ fight: ‘You have so few opportunities to make something really weird happen’

"So to be able to create a fight like this between a reigning middleweight champ who is really small, who actually probably be fighting at welterweight if he was in the U.S. If he was in the U.S, Shlemenko is a welterweight no question about it. He walks around at 192[lb], he cuts six-and-a-half pounds to make weight. Now to put him in against a guy who is a 205er and has been known his entire career as being one of the biggest 205 pounders in the sport, you can argue to and fro whether Titio's best years are behind him or whether he is going to ever regain that level of greatness or not - that is all up for grabs. The thing that makes it a freak show is the weight disparity and the size disparity. I have no idea who wins this fight. Tito could come out, push the fight against the fence, take Shlemenko's back and tap him out, like a man against a boy. Or Shlemenko could stuff takedowns and use that sniper striking, gets a liver shot - who knows."

Fightweets: What if Conor McGregor falls flat?

I get what you're saying, but in some ways, this is probably his best career choice. I mean, look at it from his long-term perspective: Maldonado is 34. He's been in the UFC for four years and has only been on one UFC pay-per-view event in his past six fights. At some point, you have to make your move and take an opportunity when it presents itself. If he loses, he can always go right back to light heavyweight, where he's on a three-fight win streak. He stepped up and saved a main event when the UFC needed it and he already fights in the sort of style his boss approves of. If he wins, though highly unlikely, he becomes a star in Brazil, where he's already a respected name on the card.

Dominick Cruz admits FOX Sports analyst role can tweak fellow fighters

Bisping's Brash Breakdown: UFC Fight Night 40 |

“I’m an expert in the field of mixed martial arts. The amount of time I’ve dedicated to this, I could have gone off and become bloody brain surgeon,” Bisping told earlier this week. “I’m an expert in this field. And on top of that, I’m a huge fan. I’ve done martial arts since I was eight years old. So when I’m not preparing for a fight, I’m setting at home watching the fights or reading about them on websites, you name it; I’m a bit of a nerd like that.”

Video: Sneak peek of today's UFC Fight Night 40 show opener

Check out a sneak peek of the opening video montage for tonight’s UFC Fight Night 40 event.

Welcome to the UFC Marcin Bandel

Bandel is a complete throwback as a offensive grappler in MMA. He reminds me a lot of guys like Marcin Held, or, more classically, Masakazu Imanari. He's a face forward brawler on the feet, throwing wide looping hooks in an attempt to get inside and connect with his opponent. He does have some power, so if guys just focus on blocking takedowns he can clip an unwary fighter. Otherwise, once int he clinch, he's not a takedown wizard, but is more than willing to dive on leg locks from which he'll flow to armbars liberally. Essentially, he's going to dive on a leg lock at some point, if you try to punch out of it he'll grab your arm and look to break it, if you pull your arm out, he'll go straight back to the leg lock. It's not always a recipe for success at the highest level, but it's always a recipe for fun.

Champ Eddie Alvarez reportedly out of next week's Bellator 120 PPV headliner

The organization planned its first PPV event, Bellator 106, back in November, but after Tito Ortiz was forced out of a scheduled headliner with Quinton Jackson, the event shifted to Spike TV. In the co-headliner of that event, Alvarez reclaimed his title from Chandler in one of 2013′s best fights.

Mike Kogan details the depth of Nate Diaz's current contract negotiations

It's times like this when I find it really hard to believe that this is reality as I know it.  The idea that talks between a promotion and one of their fighters could be at this much of a standstill just seems ludicrous. Are Diaz and his camp just going to be content to wait for the phone to ring? Because, I can only assume it wont. And, the way the UFC structures its contracts I have to think they could keep Diaz locked up pretty much indefinitely if they wanted to. They were certainly able to do that with Heath Herring, is Nate going to share his fate? The UFC has classically provided very little wiggle room for fighters looking to steer their own ship, but for now it seems like Daiz and his management are satisfied with drifting out to sea.

Source: Eddie Alvarez's two-week-old concussion suffered while wrestling

MMAjunkie today confirmed with a source close to the fighter that Alvarez was wrestling with a training partner, when – much like the sequence that has put top UFC lightweight T.J. Grant on the shelf for the past 10 months – a transition saw his opponent’s leg strike the champ’s head, resulting in a concussion.

Upcoming UFC schedule includes debut in Maine and two stops in Brazil

If you're keeping score, the number of UFC events run this year (counting tonight's card in Cincy) is at 15. There are 27 confirmed upcoming shows, but I think it's reasonable to expect a few more to get the final 2014 event total nearer to 50. Every week is fight week, don't ya know?!
