How Not To Do Pull Ups
Yes, pull-ups can be different variations. Forward hand close grip, wide grip, reverse hand grip...but all include the full extension of the arm at the bottom and pulling until your chin is above the bar. Otherwise, it's not a full pull-up. There are also many variations to a push-up...standard, military, wide..etc. But if I did 200 of any variation and went down 4 inches and came back up rather than an inch from the floor, it would not be considered a push-up.
The Measles Vaccine Overdose That Ended Up Killing Cancer
What sets Erholtz success story from the many failed clinical trials is unprecedented large amount of the measles vaccine that she was injected with. The normal dose of vaccine contains 10,000 infectious units of the virus. In this trial, patients were given one million infectious units and these were gradually increased until the volunteers were eventually injected with 100 billion infectious units. Unfortunately, the second volunteer in the study did not have as much success as Erholtz. Researchers believe that this failure may have been largely due to the dosage amount. “I think if we had been able to give bigger dose, we might have got a better outcome in that second patient,” Russell explained. Unfortunately the procedure cannot be repeated on the same patient twice because once the vaccine has been delivered, the immune system will recognize it and attack it before it has time to reach the tumors.
Gaining The Edge - The CVAC Hypobaric Pod | FIGHTLAND
A professional athlete spends 97.92% of his waking hours trying to best the competition: training, eating, resting, watching videos, downing supplements, listening to motivational talks, even sex—all manipulated to eek out the slightest advantage. "Gaining the Edge" is where we review the latest performance-enhancing methods, gear and supplements. Point being, the battle never ends.
Jake Ellenberger - UFC Breakthrough
Jake Ellenberger discusses his breakthrough performance, a headlining slot against former Strikeforce champion Jake Shields at UFC Fight Night 25.
From Punk Rock Wrestler to MMA Champ
"I started wrestling my sophomore year of high school and I was pretty good at it," Evans-Smith told Bleacher Report in an exclusive interview. "So, I wrestled in college at Menlo College, where I was a four-time All-American. The year after college, I was pretty lost, but I met [UFC and Strikeforce vet] Eugene Jackson. At the time, I was playing rugby just to keep me busy, but it really wasn't doing it for me. I mentioned to Jackson that I was a wrestler. He had just opened an MMA gym and told me to come train with him for free and that he'd turn me into a fighter. I had no idea what MMA was and I needed sports in my life. My understanding was it was wrestling with punches."
Cormier and Henderson: The Yin and Yang of Wrestling | FIGHTLAND
Conversely, Henderson is a glass-half-full type of guy, despite never finishing higher than tenth place in the Olympics, where he competed in the Greco-Roman category. Perhaps it’s his age, 43, his nonchalant Southern California cool, or the pair of PRIDE titles that line his trophy case, but Henderson just seems calm and at peace with the world, never for a second alluding to his lack of anything. (In Cormier’s defense, he was in the middle of his first weight cut to 205 pounds when he joked around with Rousey and McMann.)

Christopher claims he’s not fully recovered from the therapy — but his accomplishments inside the cage seem to dictate otherwise. Since returning, Christopher has laid claim to three tournament titles — the most recent one coming several weeks ago at Barona Resort & Casino.
Meet the Strawweights: Joanne Calderwood
At least according to Wikipedia, the sheer amount of nicknames is impressive: JoJo, Cyborginho, Dr. Kneevil. But the best moniker for The Ultimate Fighter 20 competitor Joanne Calderwood may be one not even listed on her Wiki page: The Silent Assassin. “I’ve been called that before,” she laughs, and that’s no surprise at all, because one conversation with the soft-spoken fighter from Kilmarnock, Scotland will make you wonder how it’s possible that once the bell rings on fight night she becomes someone capable of sending an opponent crashing to the canvas with one swing of her fists, feet, or knees. In short, if you want to stand and trade with the Muay Thai ace (and the owner of a 19-2 kickboxing record), do so at your own peril. Just don’t expect her to announce it. “Every day, my team and my coaches tell me this, but the person I am, I’m just trying to get better and I never see myself as being better than any other girl,” said Calderwood when asked about a striking game that is among the best in the WMMA game. “I’m just making sure that I’m being the best I can and training every day like I’m not the best.

RFA Heads Back to Southern California with RFA 15 in Los Angeles | MMAWeekly.com
Casey (7-3) is no stranger to the southern California combat sports scene having trained and competed under the legendary Rickson Gracie since the turn of the century. The elite jiu-jitsu black belt has parlayed his grappling skills into a successful MMA career, which saw him immediately compete for some of the most prestigious promotions in the world. However, it was last summer after signing with the RFA, where Casey hit another gear and found his stride as a dominating middleweight force in MMA. In his promotional debut at RFA 9, Casey controlled the previously unbeaten jiu-jitsu black belt Casey Ryan from bell-to-bell to earn a unanimous decision victory. Casey rode that momentum with him into 2014 with a brilliant performance at RFA 12 in January. In that bout against UFC vet Eddie Mendez, Casey expertly pummeled Mendez with a series of crushing elbows from the full mount to earn a resounding TKO victory in the first round.

Fans invited to UFC 175, TUF 19 Finale presser with Weidman, Machida, Rousey, Davis, Silva, Sonnen, Penn
Machida won the 205-pound title in 2009 when he knocked out Rashad Evans. He defended the belt just once against Mauricio Rua before losing it at UFC 113 in a rematch with “Shogun.” It was up and down for him at that point, as he dropped three of four starting with the Rua loss – including a title shot against Jon Jones at UFC 140. But since then, he has won four of five with just a controversial loss to Phil Davis separating him from a 5-0 run.
Tito Ortiz on Alexander Shlemenko: 'He's going to beat his face up with my fists'
“My goal is to be a world champion again,” Ortiz said. “Whoever else they give me, I can’t say who I want to fight now, because you never know who it’s going to be. I was supposed to be fighting ‘Rampage,’ and they said, ‘We’ll give you a tuneup fight at 205,’ and all of a sudden I get called out by Shlemenko.
Five fights which make sense for Pat 'HD' Barry
The likeable Pat Barry left the UFC to return to kickboxing, his first love and the sport he always really wanted to be a professional in. But his GLORY debut didn't end well - the former boxing champion Zack Mwekassa took him out in the first round with a superb uppercut.
It was a shot which would have stopped a rhino and there is no shame in the loss for Barry. But now he is 0-1 in GLORY and needs to come back big in his next outing. Here's five opponents who would make sense.
Ricky Legere Heads into Titan FC Debut with Plans to Blast His Way into Title Contention | MMAWeekly.com

He’s a good opponent for me to go out there and showcase my skills and game plan.
Kyle Kingsbury opts against retirement, returns at UFC on FOX 12
Kingsbury’s career has been the tale of two halves. After suffering a loss to Tom Lawlor after both fighters appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter 8,” the 32-year-old won four consecutive bouts, topping the likes of Fabio Maldonado and Jared Hamman while picking up two “Fight of the Night” bonuses in the process.

Jacare Souza ready to fight in August, wants a big name opponent
Jacare (20-3, 1 NC) has won all three of his UFC contests thus far and is on a six-fight winning streak overall. Belfort seems to be holding out for his own title shot but with his well-known TRT issues, Jacare might jump the line and get the winner of the UFC 175 bout instead. I'd definitely like to see that.
UFC co-founder releases original 'rules list' from first ever event
The original battle ground for the UFC was to be designed by John Milius and described as a 20-foot 'circular pit'. In reality, John Milius was a Hollywood writer, who worked on films such as Conan the Barbarian and Red Dawn, but his name was the only thing actually attached to the project. It was another architect named Jason Cusson who ultimately designed the world famous Octagon, shaping it after another film of the same name starring martial arts legend Chuck Norris.
Welcome to the UFC Niklas Backstrom
This is where things get a little more difficult. Backstrom is getting a short notice callup to face a fighter who can very likely match him, or come close in every area of the fight (and even beat him in a few areas). Niinimaki moved to the Blackzilian camp not long ago, and his striking seems to have become a much more complete skill since that move. He couples that skill with decent wrestling and a great submission arsenal. He's also proven himself to be a more than capable UFC level featherweight with a win over Rani Yahya that I would argue was not nearly as close as the split decision indicates. Backstrom is several inches taller, and he may be the more "natural" athletic talent, but a win over Niinimaki would be seen as a pretty decent upset.
Niklas Backstrom-Tom Niinimaki Featherweight Match Targeted for UFC Fight Night Berlin

Undefeated Swede Niklas
Backstrom is expected to replace an injured Thiago

Tavares, and Niinimaki also confirmed the booking via Twitter.
MMAViking.com first reported the change Thursday morning.
UFC Fight Night Berlin takes place May 31 at the O2 World Berlin

Mousasi against Mark Munoz .
The event streams live on UFC Fight Pass and will additionally see
Carmont collide with C.B.

Backstrom has been perfect since turning pro in 2009, with a 2011
no contest serving as the only non-victory on his record.

Brazilian Top Team, Chute Boxe want to build on glories from the past
"More people want to train MMA and other martial arts now, like jiu-jitsu," Bustamante says. "MMA has grown a lot in Brazil recently. The competition between teams is healthy. I've been the head coach and owner of Brazilian Top Team for the last 26 years. These guys that are starting now were using diapers when I was already fighting. I’m not afraid of the competition. We have competence, so we will always be here."
Marquez-Alvarado has Chance to be a War
There will be no getting out of the way.
Juan Manuel Marquez simply doesn’t have the reflexes anymore to
skirt the salvos of world-class fighters, and Mike Alvarado may be
willing to absorb a few shots to see if Marquez has anything
Marquez and Alvarado will be meeting for something called a WBO
welterweight “eliminator” on Saturday night at the Great Western
Forum, in Inglewood, Calif.
In many ways the fight will be just that -- an eliminator, possibly
relegating the loser to the fringes of trail horse, while the
winner will get a mandatory shot at WBO welterweight titlist Manny
Pacquiao in the fall.
For the 40-year-old Marquez (55-7-1, 44 knockouts), who’s lost two
of his last four, he’ll be fighting more than Alvarado. He’ll also
be combating the ravages of age. Fighters get no breaks when it
comes to diminished reflexes and lost speed.
There’s nowhere for them to hide. The mind is willing but the body
isn’t. Experience and guile can only go so far.
You could see it in Marquez’s eyes each time he engaged Timothy
Bradley in his split-decision defeat in October 2013.

"I just got my belt and I'm in a kind of more comfortable weight class. 145 pounds is tough for me to make. I could do it but it's very difficult to make 145. So I think is more realistically he coming up to 155 than me coming down to 145. And I think that he cleared out the division. He beat everybody at 145. He's fighting Chad Mendes again, he beat him with a KO in the first round. It's going to happen, it's a matter of time. I have nothing against Jose Aldo, I don't think that he's a guy.
