Henderson  (32-15 MMA, 9-9 UFC) fought off retirement as long as he could, delivering classic performances well into his 40s and soldiering on despite a 1-5 skid between 2013 and 2015. He even managed to turn back the clock on several occasions, stopping younger veterans like Tim Boetsch and Hector Lombard before one last shot at the title against now-former champ Michael Bisping ended in heartache .

Vitor Belfort confirms pre-UFC 224 knee injury; CABMMA explains why he still fought

With the intention to be as honest as I can be with my fans and specially with my opponent, I will go straight to the point. The injured that happened with me during the training camp somehow made the news. My team nor I had mentioned before, during or after the fight. Winning or losing, fighting injured or not; it is part of an athlete’s life. I’m not the first one nor will be the last one athlete to fight injured. Even though all the limitations imposed to me because of the injured I suffered. It is my decision to step into the octagon or not. And I decided to do it! I did not want to miss the chance to have my last fight at the UFC; in my country, my hometown and with a such respected opponent. I gave my best on the fight and my opponent was the better man that night. And this is what counts! Nothing that happened with me during the training camp takes anything away from his victory. Of course wasn’t the outcome I wished for. Not because of the defeat, because we can’t control the outcome. What bothers me is knowing that I performed bellow of what I know that I can. I literally grew up in the cage, I was wrought to be a fighter, to leave it all in the cage… and this teachings I brought to all the aspects of my life.

UFC vet Brian Stann joins PFL as part of promotion's fighter and competition/rules committee

Formerly known as World Series of Fighting (WSOF), PFL developed a league system and will award $10 million in prize money to athletes involved in the playoffs for the company’s inaugural 2018 season. There are 12 fighters each in the featherweight, lightweight, welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions who will compete in two regular season contests. Fighters will earn points based on the results of their bouts and the method of victory. From there, the top eight fighters in each division will be paired together for a single-elimination tournament that will see each bracket winner crowned season champion and awarded a $1 million prize.

Matt Mitrione Wants Fedor Rematch in Russia for Bellator Heavyweight Grand Prix Final

Matt Mitrione has a vision of how he would like the Bellator heavyweight grand prix to unfold. “The Ultimate Fighter 10” veteran will square off against light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader in one semifinal, while Fedor Emelianenko will lock horns with Chael Sonnen in the other half of the bracket. A rematch in hostile territory would be Mitrione’s ideal scenario for the final round. “After I beat Bader, if Fedor is lucky enough to get by Chael, I want to fight Fedor in Moscow,” Mitrione said during a Facebook Live chat . “I want to fight him. I want to put hands on him. On Christmas, like ‘Rocky.’ Let’s duplicate this s--t.” Mitrione and Emelianenko initially fought Bellator 180 last June. Following a rare double knockdown in the bout’s opening moments, Mitrione was able to beat “The Last Emperor” to his feet, sprawl on a takedown and finish his opponent with a flurry of punches at the 1:14 mark of round one. For now, though, “Meathead” has more pressing matters to handle in Bader, who is coming off a 15-second knockout of Muhammed Lawal at Bellator 199.

Bermudez, 31, will return to action in hopes of breaking out of one of the worst slumps of his career. “The Menace” has lost his past three fights, with the past two coming by split decision against Andre Fili and Darren Elkins, who are coincidentally teammates of Glenn at Team Alpha Male. Bermudez lost three-straight earlier in his career and rebounded with seven consecutive victories. He will look to begin a similar bounce back at UFC Fight Night 133.
