Junior dos Santos to Face Ex-WSOF Champ Blagoy Ivanov in UFC Fight Night Boise Feature

Junior dos Santos will welcome former World Series of Fighting heavyweight king Blagoy Ivanov to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night 133 on July 14. confirmed the pairing on Monday evening. UFC Fight Night 133 takes place at CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho and will air on Fox Sports 1. The card will also include a women’s bantamweight tilt pitting Marion Reneau against Cat Zingano . Dos Santos was recently cleared by USADA in an anti-doping case after it was determined the ex heavyweight champion took a tainted supplement from a Brazilian compounding pharmacy. “Cigano” last competed at UFC 211, where he suffered a first-round technical knockout loss to Stipe Miocic in a title bout. The 34-year-old has alternated wins and losses in eight bouts since 2012. Ivanov, meanwhile, has lost just once in 17 professional outings — a second-round submission defeat to Alexander Volkov at Bellator 120 in May 2014. Since then, he has reeled off a five-fight winning streak, capturing the belt for the now-defunct WSOF promotion in the process.

Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis Rescheduled for UFC 226 in Las Vegas

A lightweight clash pitting Michael Chiesa against Anthony Pettis that was originally scheduled for UFC 223 has been rebooked for UFC 226 . was first to report the rescheduled bout. Chiesa and Pettis were originally supposed to fight on April 7 in Brooklyn, N.Y., but the bout was scrapped after Chiesa suffered injuries as a result of Conor McGregor ’s attack on a bus that was transporting fighters at the Barclays Center two days before the event. Chiesa had a three-fight winning streak snapped in his last outing, when he was submitted by Kevin Lee in the opening round at UFC Fight Night 112 last June. Pettis split a pair of 2017 bouts, defeating Jim Miller via unanimous decision at UFC 213 before falling to Dustin Poirier by submission at UFC Fight Night 120.

'TUF 24' rematch between Brandon Moreno, Alexandre Pantoja finalizes UFC's debut in Chile

Pantoja (18-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Moreno (14-4 MMA, 3-1 UFC) first met as contestants on “The Ultimate Fighter 24: Tournament of Champions.” Pantoja was a No. 1 seed in the tournament and scored a second-round submission win over Moreno. Both have found success in the UFC since that run, with Moreno currently sitting at No. 9 in the latest USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings , and Pantoja checking in at No. 14.

Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings - Legend on the Brink

Jose Aldo has his latest marching orders, and the Ultimate Fighting Championship did him no favors. Holding steady as the No. 3 featherweight in the latest divisional rankings, Aldo will carry a two-fight losing streak -- both defeats were to reigning 145-pound champion Max Holloway -- into his UFC on Fox 30 showdown with the hard-hitting Jeremy Stephens on July 28 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta. Aldo was once the crown jewel of the featherweight division, but the 31-year-old Brazilian has gone 1-3 since beating Chad Mendes in their October 2014 rematch, his UFC 200 win over Frankie Edgar offset by a 13-second knockout loss to Conor McGregor and the back-to-back setbacks against Holloway. Whether he can recapture some of his past magic at Stephens’ expense remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the next month will provide further clarity in multiple divisions. Amanda Nunes will defend her women’s bantamweight crown against Raquel Pennington in the UFC 224 main event on May 12 in Rio de Janeiro; surging welterweight Kamaru Usman will lock horns with 2007 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships gold medalist Demian Maia atop UFC Fight Night 129 on May 19 in Santiago, Chile; Rafael Carvalho will put his Bellator MMA middleweight championship on the line against Gegard Mousasi in the Bellator 200 co-headliner on May 25 in London; and the unbeaten Darren Till will take on perennial 170-pound contender Stephen Thompson in the marquee matchup at UFC Fight Night 130 on May 27 in Liverpool, England.

Report: Nate Diaz in Talks to Make Octagon Return at UFC 227 on Aug. 4

Nate Diaz could be making his long-awaited return to the Ultimate Fighting Championship this summer. According to a report from , Diaz has been in discussion with the Las Vegas-based promotion regarding a possible fight at UFC 227 on Aug. 4. No deal is currently in place, and UFC president Dana White told ESPN there is “no update” regarding Diaz’s status. Despite White’s denial, the two parties reportedly discussed teh date as recently as last week. The 33-year-old Stockton, Calif., native hasn’t competed since losing a majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in August 2016. That fight, as well as his second-round submission win over McGregor at UFC 196 in March 2016 both drew more than 1 million pay-per-view buys. At the beginning of this year, Diaz hinted at a UFC return , claiming that he was “sick of sitting around waiting for you f—-ers to do s—t.” In an Instagram post, Diaz wrote that he was targeting May or June for an Octagon return. Multiple reports also linked Diaz to a proposed bout with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley at UFC 219 at the end of last year.

Matches to Make After Bellator 198

Fedor Emelianenko still has some story left to tell. “The Last Emperor” advanced to the semifinals of the 2018 Bellator MMA heavyweight grand prix, as he disposed of Frank Mir with first-round punches in the Bellator 198 main event on Saturday at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Mir bit the dust 48 seconds into Round 1, thus concluding the long-awaited showdown between two of the most accomplished heavyweights of all-time. Emelianenko turned the former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder’s aggression against him. The 41-year-old Russian icon countered the oncoming Mir with a crushing left uppercut that put him on all fours. Emelianenko trailed him to the mat and unleashed a barrage of winging left hands to the side of the head that forced referee Mike Beltran to act. It was the fourth sub-minute finish of Emelianenko’s career. A winner in six of his last seven bouts, the resurgent Red Devil Sport Club lynchpin will meet Chael Sonnen in the tournament semis later this year. In the aftermath of Bellator 198, here are four matches that ought to be made: Emmanuel Sanchez vs.

Marvin Vettori Displeased with UFC Commentators, Production Team

Marvin Vettori believes he won his clash with Israel Adesanya at UFC on Fox 29 . The two Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight prospects fought on the April 14 card headlined by lightweight contenders Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier . Although two judges gave the match to Adesanya, “The Italian Dream” is certain that the third is the only one who saw it right. All of Vettori’s losses in the UFC -- and in his entire career, in fact -- have come by decision in close fights, so he understands very well why a fighter should never leave it in the hands of the judges. “I had a good performance. I think I won the match,” Vettori told “I re-watched the first round at least ten times, and that round was mine. He could do nothing. I canceled him. He only threw some jabs and inside low kicks, but he missed a lot. He never accepted the war, given his fight style. It seems to me that the stats aren’t so accurate. He barely touched me. The second round went more his way, but in the third round I brought him down and I controlled the match until the finish.

Mackenzie Dern Relocated Training Camp from MMA Lab to California Ahead of UFC 224

UFC strawweight Mackenzie Dern has left the camp where she began her mixed martial arts career. Speaking at a media luncheon ahead of her bout with Amanda Bobby Cooper at UFC 224, Dern confirmed that she is no longer at the MMA Lab in Arizona. Instead, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt split her time between Checkmat BJJ Academy and Black House in California (transcription courtesy of ). “In relation with The Lab, after my last fight coach [John) Crouch], he just invited me to leave the team,” Dern today told reporters in Los Angeles. “Really we don’t have like a 100 percent understanding. I think he knows his decisions more than me. I think it was just the consistency. He wanted me there more often than what I was.” Dern made her Octagon debut at UFC 222, where she captured a split-decision triumph over Ashley Yoder on March 3. The 25-year-old is now 6-0 in her professional career, which includes stints in Invicta FC, Legacy Fighting Alliance and Legacy Fighting Championship. Dern said that she “definitely’ will not be returning to train at the MMA Lab.

Dana White: McGregor vs. Nurmagomedov Would Have to Be in Las Vegas, Not Russia

Conor McGregor ’s future remains uncertain as he awaits trial in New York for his attack on a bus carrying fighters and employees ahead of UFC 223. Just don’t expect the promotion to make the first move when it comes to doling out punishment to the sport’s biggest star. “He’s gotta be punished by the law first,” White told TMZ Sports . “Let’s see what happens in New York.” McGregor has been charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault and one count of criminal mischief after throwing a dolly through the window of the bus at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. As a result, fighters Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg suffered injuries from the shattered glass and were forced to withdraw from UFC 223. A company employee was also injured during the melee. McGregor posted $50,000 bail after his arrest, and is next hearing is scheduled for June 14. While White strongly voiced his displeasure in the immediate aftermath of the incident, he seemed to soften his stance somewhat following the conclusion of UFC 223. “We talked. It’s good,” White said at the UFC 223 post-fight presser.
