'Ultimate Fighter' contestant Roger Zapata's ultimate sacrifice - Newsday
Zapata, who grew up in the Bronx and Carmel, left home in Albany the day after that moment to fly to Las Vegas, his dream in front of him. If Zapata were to win his qualifying fight to be a contestant on the full season of "TUF," he'd be away from Milania for six weeks. No phones, no Skype, no FaceTime, no Instagram, no Twitter, no Facebook. No chance to follow every development in his baby girl's first six weeks of life. That in itself is a test of the man's will.

And this is Generational,,look at the 9th Ward in New Orleans, Chicago, LA, Philly, etc. This whole interview, except for what Dr. Carson said, was a FARCE!!! More “The View” phoniness, and sickening lies. This show should have been taken off the air years ago but the Liberals Love Fest for these Haters have kept it on,,if it was a Conservative show, and had Twice as many viewers,,,it would already be GONE. Bouncer talks about Gracie assault: 'This was a carefully planned and coordinated attack'
“In my entire 14-year career, I have never seen anything like this. At 1:30 a.m. a gray van pulled up, parked in the middle of the street, seven men exited the vehicle and started creating mayhem, screaming, pointing, starting to pick fights with the security guards. One man, [who] I later learned was Renzo, came in my direction, threw the velvet rope on the floor, ran straight into my chest and knocked me back onto the concrete floor onto my elbow. He was on top of me for 20 seconds, trying to punch me, but I wrapped both my arms around his neck so he couldn’t hit me, before somebody pulled him off.”
Facts and stats headed into UFC 173: Barao vs. Dillashaw fight card
If prop bets are your thing, you would be well served to put some money on the fact that this fight will not go to the ground via a takedown. Barao's takedown defense is a perfect 100 percent, while Dillashaw's is a near perfect 95 percent.

Welcome to the UFC Entwistle, Hooker, Johnson, & Matthews
Dashon "Fly Boy" Johnson is a 26-year old undefeated prospect, fighting out of Team Xplode MMA, where he trains alongside Robbie Peralta , and Derek Anderson . Johnson has been a professional boxer since 2008, amassing a record of 15-15-3. His pro MMA career didn't get underway until 2012, but he's already put together a strong looking undefeated streak, and will enter the UFC at 9-0, with eight first round stoppages and even three submissions. I say strong looking because, quite honestly, Johnson may have the worst undefeated record I have ever seen in MMA. His opponents combined record is 13-39, and twelve of those wins are held by one fighter, who took Johnson to a split decision. He has two fights against an opponent with an 0-11 record. The reality is, that as a former pro boxer, his MMA career is being managed like a boxing career. The UFC may be a very rude wakeup call.
Joseph Valtellini: The Kickboxer as Artist – Part two
When you talk with Joseph Valtellini, you can hear him smile through the telephone. Especially when talking about kickboxing and his upcoming welterweight title fight at Glory 17 against newly crowned champion Marc De Bonte. He is passionate about the sport and has a burning desire to be a champion. That same passion comes out when he talks about the artistic side of kickboxing. He finds the beauty within the violence of the knockout.

MMA's Gina Carano, Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate on Maxim Hot 100 List
The fighter-turned-actress, who hasn’t competed since an August 2009 loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, edged the UFC’s dominant 135-pound champion on this year’s Maxim Hot 100 List – the magazine’s annual list that largely ignores talent and instead focuses on the looks to rank notables, from “mind-bogglingly seductive supermodels to Hollywood’s most awe-inspiring actresses (with a bevy of beauties in between),” according to Maxim.com .
UFC 173 pre-fight facts: Renan Barao nears historic takedown defense stat
Dillashaw will become the 12th contestant from “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show to compete for a UFC championship. He joins Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans, Nate Quarry, Patrick Cote, Josh Koscheck, Joe Stevenson, Diego Sanchez, Kenny Florian, Gray Maynard, Nate Diaz and John Dodson on the list. Of that group, only Griffin and Evans were successful in their bids to capture UFC gold. (Matt Serra also won a title after winning “TUF 4,” a special “comeback” season of the reality show.)

Chiesa may not be the best fighter in the UFC’s deepest

promotion’s most consistently exciting lightweights.
“The Ultimate Fighter 15” winner has only gone the distance twice

Dana White: Ken Shamrock and I have ‘squashed our beef’
"I would hope so," Ken told Submission Radio. "You know, a life time is a long time to go hating somebody or being angry at somebody. And I may have spoken out at times and been angry at times just as he has been, but you know lately all I'm doing is just trying to make sure that we don't ruin the sport, that we don't lose fighters who are coming in here, putting their bodies on the line and that are basically risking it all to be a professional fighter, and when they get to that level where they've all dreamed to get to and then they walk away with you know, not necessarily empty pockets, but empty pockets when it comes to the amount of money they're getting paid, as opposed to what they're (UFC) making off of these guys. It's not fair and it doesn't matter whether I like Dana or I don't like Dana because it's irrelevant, it's wrong."

Sportsmanship, or weirdness? Viral MMA video comes with confusion
Of course, as Pantangco noted in the “Inside MMA” video, further punishment might have seriously injured Rasner. And considering Michigan’s history with amateur MMA, it might have been the right choice. While the sport is regulated at the professional level, amateur promoters are left to to their own devices when it comes to the health and safety of athletes.
Hector Lombard calls out Matt Brown on twitter, says 'Immortal' doesn't have an impressive fighting resume
While Brown is undoubtedly easing his way to a title shot, many expect him to face a Top 10 competitor before he finally earns the title shot. One of the suggested opponents was Lombard, who is ranked just one spot ahead of him in the rankings at No. 6. The Cuban-native appears to be interested in the match-up, or else he would not have approached Brown via twitter.

T.J. Dillashaw on UFC 173 title shot: There are always going to be haters
He’s one of the biggest underdogs at Saturday’s UFC 173 card, and he has 23 fewer fights than his opponent. So why did T.J. Dillshaw get a title shot against dominant champ Renan Barao ?

UFC 173: Barao vs. Dillashaw Crystal Ball Predictions
LAS VEGAS -- Just how good is Renan Barao? The UFC bantamweight champion has practically made a mockery of the sport. His 33-fight unbeaten streak is believed to be the third-longest in MMA history, and he's ripped through his competition in the UFC and WEC with six stoppages in nine wins. After knocking out No. 1 Urijah Faber, submitting No. 3 Michael McDonald and finishing Eddie Wineland with a gorgeous spinning back kick, he looks to continue mowing through the division against T.J. Dillashaw in the UFC 173 main event.
UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov fight card
It's been three years since the UFC went to Vancouver, BC, and this time there will be a title fight on the line. Flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has finished his last two opponents and has defended his belt 3 times. Ali Bagautinov looks to make it 4-0 in the UFC and become the first man to defeat Mighty Mouse at 125 lbs in the night's main event. It's the first time Johnson has headlined a PPV, with all of his other title fights airing on Fox and the co-main event of UFC 152 against Joseph Benavidez.

Graduation Day: A trio of TUF winners look to shine at UFC 173
"Everybody goes through peaks and valleys when you're getting ready for a fight. At one point you're like 'I'm going to beat this guy' and then the next it's like 'I don't know if I can do it'. I look back on The Ultimate Fighter and I was able to go through getting dropped this fight and turn around and win a fight a week later. That's the thing I like the most, it was such a trying time for me both physically and mentally that when I think I've got it tough right now and look back and say 'nothing's worst than that'. It's something I would do over again in a heartbeat and I'm glad I did it."

Promotion officials confirmed the search is currently underway for a replacement opponent for Fitch, who will remain on the card. Fitch vs. Shields was expected to serve as the co-main event of WSOF 11, which takes place July 5 and may potentially air on NBC. Welcome to the UFC Narvaez, dos Santos, Arreola, & Puig
Narvaez is big and strong, and he's spent some time on the regional grappling circuit, so he's not untrained outside his MMA game, but he's also fairly raw for a fighter in the UFC. He's a fairly major proponent of the chin up, arms bent, style of striking and has gotten hit hard a few times because of it. Eventually, the goal of his striking is to get in on a body lock so that he can drag his opponent to the mat. His takedown game doesn't look gorgeous, mostly predicated on size and effort, but once he's on the floor, his top control and ground and pound are strong. He looks good when advancing position, and strikes with some serious power from the top. If he stays at light heavyweight, he could get a lot more time to develop than he might at 185.

Bellator champ Eduardo Dantas challenges Joe Warren to random drug test
Warren, meanwhile, said he will wait to unify the bantamweight title but could pursue broadcast interests while he keeps in shape for Dantas. During this past Saturday’s Bellator 120 event, which marked the Viacom-owned promotion’s inaugural pay-per-view event, he told the Brazilian champ to “stop being a p–sy” and take the fight.
I don’t mean to poke holes in your little story, Chuck, but how exactly did these two friends manage to turn a car battery into some sort of impromptu defibrillator? Did one of them happen to be MacGyver? And why the hell were they carrying a Duralast battery through the woods in the first place? And if the story is, by your own admission, possibly fabricated, how does that prove the toughness of Duralast batteries? If anything, it proves that the people behind this Duralast marketing campaign are nothing more than snake oil salesman praying on our common fear of the unknown to push their own personal agenda and profit from it. Thanks, but not in my America!

Why Francisco Rivera is a silver-lining opponent for UFC 173’s Takeya Mizugaki
“I was disappointed that I couldn’t fight Dillashaw for a couple days,” Mizugaki told MMAjunkie Radio through an interpreter. “But by the next week when I heard I was fighting Rivera, I was very highly motivated. It just took me a while to readjust.”
Ben Askren considering retirement after One FC deal, says he is going to ‘try and do it the right way’
While Askren's record and dominance speak for themselves, he found himself released from Bellator following the conclusion of his contract. Following unsuccessful talks with the UFC, Askren signed with One FC, where he is scheduled to make his debut on Friday, May 30, against Bakhtiyar Abboasov.
Hector Lombard 'not impressed' by fellow UFC contender Matt Brown
Lombard, a former Bellator champion, is 3-2 since moving to the UFC, but he’s 2-0 since a drop down to welterweight. Recent wins over Nate Marquardt and Jake Shields have improved his stock in the 170-pound weight class, but like Brown, he could use another high-profile victory or two.

Fighters previously denied New Jersey fight licenses for HIV are fighting in New York amateur bouts
"There have been many contestants who have been banned from regulated combative sport in New Jersey because of subdural hematoma, hepatitis C, HIV, detached retinas, and other medical concerns who have competed freely in amateur MMA and kickboxing in New York under the direct supervision of state-approved sanctioning bodies, or at shows without such direct supervision," he says.
