UFC Fight Night 130 ‘Thompson vs. Till’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round-by-Round Scoring

Makwan Amirkhani vs. Jason Knight Round 1 Knight strikes first with a leg kick, and Amirkhani immediately throws his hands up to say it was nothing. Knight is the aggressor in the opening minute, attacking largely with kicks but also sticking a hard jab. Amirkhani swings back with a right hook that puts Knight in reverse. Amirkhani tries a flying knee and is taken down by Knight, but "Mr. Finland" sweeps straight to top position and sticks out his tongue at the American. Knight closes up a tight guard, so Amirkhani backs off and allows him to stand. Amirkhani lands the right hook again, now comes over the top with a left. Knight eats another right hook, tries to come forward swinging punches in return, but Amirkhani backpedals out of range. Knight explodes forward with a combination but only finds himself wrapped up and taken down. Amirkhani wants Knight back on his feet, where the Finnish fighter begins jawing at his bloodied opponent. Knight continues to connect with low kicks but is having trouble finding Amirkhani with his hands. Amirkhani whiffs on a lead uppercut and gets blasted by an uppercut from Knight.

Stephen Thompson: Not fighting Darren Till after weigh-in miss 'never went through my head'

Gegard Mousasi Deposes Rafael Carvalho, Becomes Fifth Bellator MMA Middleweight Champion

Congrats t the NEW middleweight champion @mousasi_mma! #Bellator200 pic.twitter.com/Iv2DIxwrxF — Bellator MMA (@BellatorMMA) May 26, 2018 Gegard Mousasi took care of business and did so with clinical precision, as he stopped Rafael Carvalho with first-round punches to capture the undisputed Bellator MMA middleweight championship in the Bellator 200 headliner on Friday at the SSE Arena in London. Carvalho (15-2, 6-1 Bellator) wilted 3:35 into Round 1. The loss was his first since Dec. 17, 2011 and closed the book on his 15-fight winning streak. Mousasi (44-6-2, 2-0 Bellator) made it look easy, like hot-knife-through-butter easy. The 32-year-old “Dreamcatcher” executed multiple takedowns, softened Carvalho with ground-and-pound and climbed to full mount. Unable to escape, the Brazilian surrendered his back and covered up, with Mousasi cutting loose with right hands until the job was finished. In the welterweight co-main event, undefeated London Shootfighters representative Michael Page struck David Rickels into first-round submission and strengthened his often-questioned resume at the expense of one of Bellator’s most successful fighters.

The Film Room: Darren Till

The surging Darren Till takes on Stephen Thompson this Saturday in front of his home country in what is his toughest test to date at UFC Fight Night 130 . Till was relatively unknown before his KO win over Donald Cerrone last October, but is now being heralded as the best prospect the welterweight division has to offer. A win this Saturday over the No. 2-ranked “Wonderboy” might see him next in line for a title shot. The Liverpool Slugger Till began his marital arts training at 12 years old and quickly went pro at 15. He started off training muay Thai and transitioned to MMA at 17. When Till was 19, he was stabbed in the back twice after confronting a group of men at a party and nearly lost his life. After the stabbing, Till’s coach urged him to move to Brazil to further his training as living in Liverpool was too much of a distraction. The trip was only supposed to last six months but he ended up staying for three and a half years and had his first professional fight in Brazil in 2013. Just five years later, Till is on the cusp of a title shot, and at only 25 years old, he has plenty of time to round out his game achieve his goal of becoming the greatest of all-time.

An online search of court records showed that Diaz was arrested on two separate charges — domestic battery by strangulation, which is a felony, and misdemeanor domestic battery. The felony charge could result in a prison term of up to five years if convicted. He was being held in the Clark County Detention Center with bail set at $18,000.

UFC Fight Night 130 results: Elias Theodorou outgrinds Trevor Smith in spirited opener

The two briefly moved out to the center on occasion, but each time they found themselves quickly back in the clinch and trading punches in a grinding affair. Theodorou seemed to be getting the best of the exchanges, especially in the latter stages of the round, landing a few stiff left hands along with bruising knees to the body. Smith was certainly game in returning fire, but Theodorou’s volume took it’s toll on his opponent.

Dana White dishes on UFC-ESPN deal, number of shows, future of Fight Pass and 'TUF'

“That’s exactly right: 42 shows,” White said. “I have the ability to make some original content for those guys too, and it’s going to be awesome. ESPN wouldn’t cover us; now we’re on ESPN. Anybody who doesn’t think this is a win, just shut up. Stop covering the sport if you think this isn’t a win.”

UFC Fight Night 130's Elias Theodorou says he makes more money with sponsors than UFC

Shampoo brand Pert Plus got into the Elias Theodorou business this past year, handing him a chuck of cash to lather his mane with their product. That’s brought valuable exposure outside the MMA bubble. He also plans to turn his job as the first-ever “Ring Boy” for the all-female MMA promotion Invicta FC into a bigger side hustle, complete with a calendar filled with UFC fighters. He’s also working on a movie about a fighter who turns into a professional gamer after getting injured.

Rory MacDonald Accepts Gegard Mousasi’s Challenge, Calls It the ’Fight to Make Right Now’

Shortly after Gegard Mousasi dispatched Rafael Carvalho to claim the middleweight crown at Bellator 200, he called out 170-pound champion Rory MacDonald . It didn’t take long for “The Red King” to accept the challenge, as he took to Twitter to tell Bellator president Scott Coker and matchmaker Rich Chou that it was “the fight to make right now.” @mousasi_mma congratulations on you dominant victory, @ScottCoker @rich_chou i know you wanted a title defense from me before challenging at middle weight. but myself vs @mousasi_mma is the fight to make right now, so lets make this happen!? — Rory MacDonald (@rory_macdonald) May 25, 2018 Mousasi was dominant in London on Friday. He took Carvalho down multiple times, landed ground-and-pound and advanced to full mount. Eventually, the Brazilian gave up his back, and the former UFC and Strikeforce competitor sealed his victory with more punches 3:35 into the first round. Mousasi has won seven fights in a row, including two under the Bellator banner. MacDonald kicked off his promotional tenure with two straight victories, submitting Paul Daley in his debut before outpointing Douglas Lima to capture welterweight gold.

I always wonder why when someone is pinned to the fence like white was.....why risk waiting for the knee to hit you? You cant go up so what's wrong with dropping all the way to the ground? Especially if you have a ground game.
