UFC Fight Night 109 ‘Gustafsson vs. Teixeira’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round-by-Round Scoring
Joaquim
Silva vs. Reza
Madadi
Round 1
Silva comes over the top with a glancing right hand, backs up a few
paces and hits the incoming Madadi with a switch kick to the body.
Madadi looks to clinch up and is shoved away by "Netto BJJ," but
the Iran native's next attempt yields a takedown. Silva posts and
stands almost immediately, but Madadi secures another takedown
before the second minute of the bout is over. Now it's Madadi in
half guard, working from Silva's right side in the center of the
cage. Silva pivots to put Madadi in closed guard; Madadi continues
to grind away on top, landing short punches while Silva ties up
from the bottom, looking to referee Marc Goddard for a stand-up
order. Silva throws up an armbar, but Madadi snuffs it out almost
immediately. Shucking off another armbar attempt, Madadi passes to
side control once again, then tries to mount but is denied as the
horn sounds.
Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Madadi
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Madadi
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Madadi
Round 2
Silva lunges forward with punches, forcing Madadi to back up, then
knocks the off-balance "Mad Dog" to the ground with a body kick.

Heavyweight Title Up for Grabs at June 30’s LFA 15
Houston-based
Legacy Fighting Alliance announced Saturday afternoon that its
inaugural heavyweight champion will be crowned next month. LFA 15
takes place on June 30 at FireLake Arena in Shawnee, Oklahoma, and
the belt will go to either Richard
Odoms or Jared
Vanderaa .
Standing at a towering 6’5” and a robust 265 pounds, San Antonio
police officer Odoms has won four of his last five, with three of
those wins coming via vicious knockout. The
Legacy Fighting Championship veteran made his LFA debut in
March when he blitzed William Hoffman via kick and punches at LFA
6. At 42 years of age, the time is now or never for “The Black
Eagle.”
Vanderaa, meanwhile, has been running roughshod in regional shows
and has yet to taste defeat. He has stopped every man he’s faced
and though he has only a fraction of the experience as Odoms does,
Vanderaa is considered by mixed martial arts experts as one of the
best young prospects in the heavyweight division.
The LFA 15 co-feature will see a border war between Oklahoma’s
Cortez
Coleman and Kansas’ Chris
Harris . Both combatants are veterans of the Bellator
MMA cage and are looking for bragging rights as to who is the
best middleweight in the area.

Mamed Khalidov, Mariusz Pudzianowski Win; 58,000 Attend Historic KSW 39 in Warsaw
Saturday in Poland, Europe's preeminent MMA promotion
Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki made history, putting over an
estimated 58,000 fight fans inside PGE Narodowy Stadium. Yet, while
KSW
39 was an instant and unique landmark in combat sports history,
there was something strangely, perhaps unsettlingly, familiar about
the main event.
In the headliner of KSW's milestone “Colosseum”
card , the company's middleweight champion and promotional ace
Mamed
Khalidov earned a questionable unanimous decision (30-27,
29-28, 29-28) over KSW's reigning welterweight champion Borys
Mankowski in a 181-pound catch-weight affair.
KSW announced an estimated crowd of 58,000, but did not give an
exact attendance figure. On May 9, KSW co-owner Maciej
Kawulski announced that the promotion had sold 50,000 tickets
to that point. The promotion told
Sherdog.com that 56,500 tickets had already been purchased as
of this past Friday.
The all-time UFC attendance record is 56,214 for Holly Holm 's
UFC 193 knockout of Ronda
Rousey at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne, Australia, while the
accepted, global MMA attendance record is over 71,000 for Pride
Fighting Championship and K-1's August 2002 “Shockwave,” despite
the two promotions claiming an attendance of over 91,000 at Tokyo
National Stadium in Japan.

UFC Fight Night 109 Prelims: Pedro Munhoz Wears Down Damian Stasiak in Stockholm

heading to the third? #UFCStockholm
pic.twitter.com/JvED7f5shO

2017
Pedro
Munhoz made the move from
Kings MMA to
American Top Team and did not skip a beat in the cross-country
switch.
The former Resurrection Fighting Alliance titleholder put his third
consecutive victory in the books and continued to climb the
Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight ladder with a
unanimous decision over Damian
Stasiak in the featured
UFC Fight Night 109 “Gustafsson vs. Teixeira” prelim on Sunday
at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm. All three judges sided with
Munhoz (14-2): 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28.
Stasiak (10-4) scored with his share of strikes and showed a
particular affinity for the spinning back kick to the body.
However, he could not match the Brazilian’s aggression. Munhoz
moved forward and gradually wore down the Polish karateka with
multi-punch bursts upstairs and kicks to the head, body and legs.
The 30-year-old punctuated his latest conquest with a strong third
round, where he drove into top position and wrenched Stasiak to the
canvas with one takedown after another.

Lina Lansberg-Leslie Smith Clash Added to July 16 UFC Fight Night 113 in Glasgow
The
Ultimate Fighting Championship 's return to Scotland has got
another fight added to the bill.
UFC Fight Night 113 will feature a women's bantamweight bout
between gritty American Leslie
Smith and like-minded Swede Lina
Lansberg . The event, headlined by a welterweight clash between
Gunnar
Nelson and Santiago
Ponzinibbio , takes place July 16 at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow.
The main card airs live on Fox Sports 1, with the preliminary
undercard on UFC Fight Pass.
After falling to “Cyborg” Cristiane
Justino in her UFC debut at 140 pounds last September, the
35-year-old Lansberg returned this past March at UFC Fight Night
107 in London, England to earn a second career win over the Czech
Republic's Lucie
Pudilova in a bloody, entertaining decision.
Smith, 34, shares something in common with Lansberg, having also
fallen via knockout to “Cyborg,” going down to the Brazilian at UFC
198 in May of last year, before returning to action in December and
winning an underdog decision over Mexico's Irene
Aldana . The victory brought “The Peacemaker's” UFC mark to 3-4,
having alternated losses and wins since her Octagon debut in a
decision loss to Sarah
Kaufman in April 2014.

Isaque Bahiense on the challenges of changing teams by @gallerr
"Changing teams is always very hard, because we end up creating a relationship, and I think BJJ still has many closed-minded people who call others traitors. Our life is too short; we have to seize the opportunities that show up in our life. Everybody has their moment and situations. At 18 I had to have a talk with my teacher. I had been with him for 8 years; the dude was my father. My biological father went away, and he came in. I had to talk to the team directors. At the time, it was very difficult; 4 months passed until I was able to change teams. I talked to everybody. Some said, "Okay. If that is what is best for you, go; you have to think about your future." But, unfortunately, when I felt, some people changed and closed themselves off to me".

Help Us Save Boise State Wrestling
Boise State University just announced that it is cutting its wrestling program, effective immediately. The Bronco wrestling program has been molding young men since 1959 and wrestling has a strong following in the Boise area and in the state of Idaho. Boise State had one of the top wrestling programs in the country up until a few years ago. The program was top-ten ranked in 2010-11 and had an NCAA finalist that season (and again in 2013). Since 1999, it has produced two NCAA champions, four NCAA finalists, two Olympians, 25 All-American honors, and six Pac-10 team championships. But the Boise State wrestling program doesn't just build winning wrestlers; it gives young men the foundation to be winners at life!! Coach Mendoza, Riley Orozco, Levi Jones, Andrew Hochstrasser are exactly the type of young men I would want molding my son if he wrestled for them. If you don't know me, my name is Kevin Wood. I've been involved in wrestling for 50 years, 30 of them as a coach. I wrestled at Boise State University from 1979-82 and coached the high school wrestling teams at Mountain View, Eagle, Centennial, and Meridian.
