Fabio Maldonado steps in for Junior dos Santos, fights Stipe Miocic in Brazil
Unfortunately for Miocic, this may end up being a bit of a sidestep bout. Obviously, if he'd been able to beat dos Santos, he would have cemented himself as one of the very elite at 265 lbs. Maldonado is a fun fighter, who will bring the fans with him, but a victory for Miocic won't have much substance beyond an opportunity to stay busy and keep his name in the public sphere. A loss for Miocic, and it could be the kind of career set back that takes a long time to recover from. He'll be the obvious favorite here, and anything less than a dominant performance will be something of a letdown.
Maldonado in for JDS against Miocic
Popular Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldonado will make a move north to the heavyweight division on Saturday, May 31, as he replaces the injured Junior Dos Santos in a five-round main event bout against Stipe Miocic. Maldonado, a former pro boxer, is in the midst of a three-fight winning streak, most recently defeating Gian Villante in March. In Miocic, he will face a former Golden Gloves champ who has defeated Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson in his last two bouts. The FOX Sports 1 card, which will take place at the Ginasio do Ibirapuera in Sao Paulo, also features the heavyweight and middleweight finals of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3.
'King' Mo Lawal on 'Rampage' Jackson: 'We ain't boys, we've never been boys'
"We're not boys," Lawal said on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. "I never talk to Rampage on the phone, maybe once, three or four years ago. I don't know s--- about Rampage, I knew he's from Memphis. Other than that, I can't say too much about him. I don't know that dude, I don't know. We ain't boys, we've never been boys."
Barboza vs. Dunham, Alers vs. Martins added to UFC Fight Night 45
A lightweight bout between Edson Barboza and Evan Dunham is slated for UFC Fight Night 45 on July 16 at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J., according to UFC officials Tuesday. Barboza (13-2) will try to bounce back from his submission loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC on FOX 11 in April. He has won three of his past five fights. Dunham (14-5) also lost to Cerrone in his last fight. He was submitted by a triangle choke at UFC 167 last November. He has lost three of his past five fights. A featherweight fight between Jim Alers and Lucas Martins has also been set for the card. Alers has won nine straight fights, including his UFC debut at UFC Fight Night 39. Martins is moving up to featherweight and has won two of his past three UFC fights. Donald Cerrone will face Jim Miller in the main event.
Henry Cejudo out, Elias Garcia now meets Damacio Page in Legacy FC 31 co-main
Page, a UFC and WEC vet who’s 2-1 since a losing skid in MMA’s biggest promotion has picked up knockout wins over Patrick Ybarra and Matt Lozano for Legacy. Garcia is coming off a decision loss to Cejudo at Legacy FC 27, the first setback of his professional career.
Sober driver arrested for OWI when deputy crashes into her car
A lot of Law Enforcement Officers constantly lie about accidents & other things on the job & they get away with it. Which is really sad because these are the people who are supposed to be sworn to uphold the law. The sad thing about the Deputy in this case is he is still employed by the sheriff’s department even though the article claims that he has not worked for a year because he is claiming disability from the accident. The County tried to cover it up too. I think that the county board should be held responsible for this & the Deputy should be fired for causing a accident as well as charged for lying on his Official Report which technically is a Felony in Wisconsin because he filed a false police report. He should be changed & sitting in jail for a long Time. I also think that his disability claim should be denied especially since he is trying to collect disability under a false claim do to the fact that he lied on his report. This Deputy is a dirty fucking pig. He has no Honor. Sheriff Clarke should also be investigated in this too because the sheriff’s department had the Airport video 2 Days after the accident & knew what really happened & they still tried to cover it up.

Parker says Monsanto employees will “harass” farmers to scare them from replanting the company’s seeds without permission. The company also hires “people who used to bust up unions” to investigate other seed distributors to protect its patents, he adds. Sources told Parker that farmers refer to Monsanto as the “seed police” and employ “Gestapo” and “mafia” like tactics to “spy and intimidate” them. And Monsanto will slap small farmers with lawsuits when it believes its patents have been violated. In May the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s ruling that Indiana soybean farmer David Runyon was guilty of patent infringement for planting and saving seeds that contained Monsanto’s genetically altered Roundup Ready weed killer.

Yes, Patriots fans, that's your beloved Tom Brady, sporting a fauxhawk and bright red pants, along with a faint help-me-or-kill-me glint in his eyes as his beloved wife Gisele embraces him victoriously. Note that Brady does appear to be getting away with improper use of the hands, however.

Morality, the Zeitgeist, and D**k Jokes: How Post-Carlin Comedians Like Louis C.K. Have Become This Generation's True Philosophers
"See this is a terrible realization." Louis says, "Because you should act in a way, that if everybody acted in that way, things would work out. Because it would be mayhem if everybody was like that." 12 I wasn't the first to notice (a fair amount of Youtube comments, a New York Times article, 13 and various others beat me to it) that Louis' casually invokes Immanual Kant's basis for morality, here: the categorical imperative. It is more than just an appeal to the audience's moral intuitions--we see that this morality should apply to us simply because we are rational enough to understand it, and have will. Nowhere is this more apparent than in those crossroad moments, like Louis' moment in first class when he realizes he should give his seat to the military man in coach. He never actually does, and instead luxuriates in the fantasy, reaping the satisfaction without ever performing the moral act. For the modern era, the problem of morality is not simply in articulating precisely what the oughts (as Hume would say) are, and trying to figure out if there are any oughts at all. The real problem, now, is that even if reason and rationality do give us our oughts , most of us still wouldn't care to do them--on the largest and smallest scales.
Vitor Belfort: 'I feel like an animal' without TRT
"After TRT was banned, Dan Henderson fought Shogun (Rua) with TRT," Belfort continued. "That’s funny because a Brazilian can’t use TRT there (in the United States), but an American can fight here. If TRT exists in many others sports, why can’t it exist in MMA? If gives you no advantage, it only puts you at the same level of the other athletes.

Bethe Correia meets next of 'Four Horsewomen,' Shayna Baszler, at UFC 176
Baszler will be making her official UFC debut. She was scheduled to fight Sarah Kaufman in April at the TUF Nations Finale in Canada, but had to pull out of the fight with an injury. On “TUF 18,” she was Rousey’s first pick after winning her elimination fight to get into the house, but lost in the second round to eventual winner Julianna Pena in her first fight. Prior to coming to the UFC, the “Queen of Spades” went 1-2 under the Invicta FC banner with losses to current UFC roster members Alexis Davis, whom Rousey faces in July, and Sara McMann, whom Rousey just beat in February.

UFC Fight Night 43 gets Perosh-Villante, Whittaker-Rhodes, Delos Reyes-Vaculik
Whittaker needs a win after back-to-back losses to Court McGee and Stephen Thompson. In August, McGee snapped his two-fight streak with a split-decision win. In February, he was stopped in the first round by Thompson at UFC 170 with a TKO. He had won his first two UFC fights, including a decision win over Brad Scott to win “TUF: Smashes” in December 2012. Rhodes started his career 6-1, but dropped his UFC debut in January to George Sullivan at UFC on FOX 10 in Chicago by unanimous decision.
Wineland: Always There to Put on a Show
There is always something to prove inside the Octagon…at least where Eddie Wineland is concerned. The seasoned veteran has spent years battling the opposition under the Zuffa banner and has carved out his place as one of the best bantamweight fighters on the roster in the process. That said, the Chesterton native has experienced his fair share of ups and downs, as he has strung together multiple winning streaks, only to have the progress he built stopped cold. While the Northwest Indiana-based fighter has taken his proverbial knocks on several occasions, nothing has stopped the 29-year-old from getting back to his feet and dusting himself off. His ability to not only regain his footing but surge back toward the top of the division has earned Wineland the reputation of being one of the most resilient fighters in the bantamweight ranks. There was no period in his career where this was more on display then in the aftermath of his loss to Joseph Benavidez back in August of 2011. It was his second consecutive setback, but it was also the first time in nearly a decade he had to deal with having notched “L’s” in back-to-back showings.

The only reason Diaz would lose his “active status” is if he was fired, and there’s no indication that he has been. It’s apparently just a case of the UFC saying, “We don’t like you anymore, so we don’t think you should be ranked.” (See also: “We don’t like you anymore, so we don’t think you should be a Hall of Famer .”)
The Bizarre Reason Porn Stars Are Being Blocked From Using U.S. Banks
That means that all of a sudden, law-abiding porn stars with legitimate businesses can lose their banking service overnight. PayPal's account closures are especially inconvenient for webcam stars and other adult performers who depend on online transactions for their livelihood. But according to the U.S. government, they are no better than online scammers — and as such, do not even deserve the privilege of banking at a reputable institution.

Ahead of schedule: Anderson Silva cleared to train MMA less than five months after injury
Silva was rushed to the hospital in Las Vegas and had emergency surgery. A steel rod was implanted into his tibia by UFC doctor Steven Sanders and it will remain there. At the time, Sanders said Silva could start training in "six-to-nine months," but he looks to be ahead of schedule. Silva has posted multiple videos on Instagram of him working out and even kicking during his recovery. UFC president Dana White said he was "like Wolverine" with his ability to uncanny ability to heal.
Brown: Underdog status makes no sense
Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Getty ImagesMatt Brown, left, is still coming to terms with why he was pegged to fight Erik Silva.
Matt Brown has no idea why he’s fighting Erick Silva in Cincinnati on Saturday.
He accepted the UFC welterweight fight without hesitation and he’s excited for it because he loves to compete -- but how he went from fighting a highly ranked Carlos Condit to an opponent ranked outside the top 10 does baffle him a bit.
“I don’t really know how this s--- works,” Brown told ESPN.com. “I don’t know how they decide one person gets this and another gets that. I don’t know.
“I accepted (Silva) right away but bottom line, I was like, ‘Hey, what’s going on here? Do I get to fight a top-10 guy? What do I have to do?’”

With UFC's latest rankings edit, some troubling questions arise
I should point out here that none of us at MMAjunkie participate in the UFC’s rankings. Plenty of other media members do, however, and you can find a list of them on the UFC’s rankings page , along with their most recent ballots. Those who had Grant and Diaz on their 155-pound lists, which seems to be just about everyone, now have blank spots where those names used to be. That means the UFC edited those ballots on its own, apparently without the consent or prior knowledge of the voting members. That’s a problem. Just how big of a problem depends on what you think about the whole concept of ostensibly media-generated UFC rankings to begin with.
Like price sticker residue on a prized picture frame, these myths refused to be scrubbed away. You’ll encounter them on forums, barroom discussions, and even from the mouths of so-called experts. What myths are these? We’re glad you asked…

UFC Fight Night 40's Erick Silva not hoping for quick win over Matt Brown
Statistically, Silva is a rapid finisher, as his average fight time time of 4 minutes and 24 seconds per appearance is the lowest among active UFC fighters and tied for the seventh lowest of any fighter in modern UFC history with a minimum of five fights. “Indio” admits while he’d like a long, drawn-out affair, he’s also not about to hold back if the opportunity presents itself.
Michael Bisping wanted Luke Rockhold next but his 'pinky toe' is injured
"You're only as good as the people you train with. While I have had some fantastic coaches, training partners has been something that's been hard to get a hold of. I stayed away from Reign because obviously Mark Munoz is my division, and a couple of the other gyms in Southern California as well, I stayed away from because they also had some UFC middleweights. It was kind of difficult, but Mark very graciously invited me to train with him and I took him up on the offer. I believe this is going to be a great fit for me," Bisping said about his new team.
Aftermath: What's next for Pat Barry after GLORY 16 loss to Zack Mwekassa?
Pat Barry's GLORY debut did not go well. He was stopped in the first round by Zack Mwekassa, a fellow debutant. What does that loss mean for his future career as a kickboxer at this level? Read on as our expert panel weighs in on that and other fallout from the weekend's event.
Cat Zingano cleared to train, Sarah Kaufman offers 'tune up' fight
Meanwhile, Zingano has been out for more than one year, appearing most recently in an April 2013 win over Miesha Tate. Zingano was then expected to coach on “The Ultimate Fighter 18″ opposite UFC women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey, but she was forced to give up both of those opportunities after injuring her knee. However, she said she’s now cleared to return to full speed.
CP reader Juan Pablo B. sent us the above video earlier today, and it made us realize that “bully gets owned” videos have become a powerful Internet genre unto themselves, like scare pranks or ASMR vids . The appeal is obvious: We rarely get to see aggressive dickheads get their comeuppance in real life, so it’s always incredibly satisfying when moments like these are caught on tape.
Edson Barboza Makes Quick Return, Faces Evan Dunham at UFC Fight Night 45 | MMAWeekly.com
Dunham (14-5) is on a two-fight losing streak. He made his promotional debut in January 2009 and won his first four fights in the organization. He quickly rose through the ranks, but has struggled when facing fighters at the top of the division. He was scheduled to face Mark Bocek at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale on April 16, but was forced out of the fight due to injury. Like Barboza, Dunham is coming off a loss to Cerrone in his last outing.
Not since Nick Diaz invented the Stockton Heybuddy have we seen a fighter gain so much notoriety for a hand gesture, but that seems to be the case with one Bethe Correia . Whether us MMA fans will admit it or not, we all get a semi at the thought of an honest grudge match between MMA fighters, and when Correia silently dissed the “Four Horsewoman” following her victory over Jessamyn Duke at UFC 172, it was pretty much a done-deal that she would face one of the three remaining members in her next UFC contest.
