Gilbert Burns: Alistair Overeem left Blackzilians because he injured Guto Inocente (updated)

"Overeem got mad because he was getting beat up by a guy with one hand, so he took Guto down and blew out his other knee. That’s why Guto hasn’t fought in a while. We were all upset about it, and that was when (Overeem) left the team. After he left, the team got better and we had better results. Thank God he left the team."

TUF: Cathal Pendred opens up about Monaghan's offensive message

At the end of the day, I stand by what I said. The guy was preaching, and I was curious about what he had to say, so I voluntarily went along to his little sermon. I just didn't happen to agree with his message. I think it was a quite insulting and offensive thing that he said, that God will give "good people" money. I know a lot of people that are very poor that struggle to put food on the table, but they're good people, religious people, and they live a life of God's message.

Gilbert Melendez: I feel like I can walk right through Anthony Pettis' kicks

“Sometimes, playing the mental game is part of the sport, and I’ll do what I’ve got to do,” he said. “I think we’re both respectful when it comes to crossing the line, but I think I’ll just keep my distance and keep it professional. I’m not looking to have a relationship with Anthony Pettis.”

Actually Nick you are wrong the girl who threw the shovel was involved in the fight and then got mad because she was losing then asked her to leave and since she knew they were going to fight before hand she would have been charged with murder and techniqually they both could have been arrested on assault charges and from the looks of it in this video she was a welcomed party so the trespassing would not hold up in court.

If you watch me roll I do what I call “keepitplayful.” I might work for the dominant position but as soon or before it is established I allow myself to get into an inferior position. I also allow my training partner to go for a submission and depending on how I feel I either attempt to defend the submission early, at the half way point or late. I risk being stuck in an inferior position or getting tapped out.  I’m okay with this because the information that I collect from experiencing jiu-jitsu this way is different. Due to the KeepItPlayful approach I am less concerned with “winning” and instead looking to create / allow movement while observing my partners jiu-jitsu and therefore creating a greater understanding. If you allow yourself to spend time in all positions you build comfort in all positions, and if you do this, you win.

The Fighter & The Kid

This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.

17 Comcast, AT&T, and Verizon's man on the inside is about to publicly reveal his dastardly plot.

Their lobbyists and lawyers have taken over the FCC -- the agency meant to keep them in check . Now, the former lobbyist running the FCC is about to announce new rules that will kill Net Neutrality -- the rule that stops Comcast, AT&T, or Verizon from deciding which sites you’re allowed to visit.

18 Your internet is about to get a lot slower.

Right now, the internet works like this: both people and websites pay money to their local (often monopolistic) Internet Service Provider (ISP) like Comcast or Verizon. In return, they’re hooked up to the internet. Information flowing through the internet is all treated equally. Under these new rules, the ISPs could hold us hostage. Verizon could refuse to let us see Youtube unless Google hands them wheelbarrows full of cash. People researching medications might not be able to find the studies showing serious side effects if Pfizer, GlaxoSmithKlein and others pay big bucks to get their sites to show up fastest. Most alarmingly, the legal basis of these rules could allow ISPs to censor any site they didn’t like.

Vitor Belfort: 'I feel like an animal' without TRT

"After TRT was banned, Dan Henderson fought Shogun (Rua) with TRT," Belfort continued. "That’s funny because a Brazilian can’t use TRT there (in the United States), but an American can fight here. If TRT exists in many others sports, why can’t it exist in MMA? If gives you no advantage, it only puts you at the same level of the other athletes.

Georges St-Pierre, Stephan Bonnar star in great -- yet very different -- commercials

Bonnar's commercial -- OK, it's not really a commercial -- is a funny parody of ridiculous spots that MMA fighters star in, specifically those from Metro PCS.

Jon Jones, Ronda Rousey pace a year without the big pay-per-view draws

Both UFC 170 and UFC 172 , headlined by Rousey and Jones, are looking at about 350,000 buys according to industry estimates. The latter, Jones' event, looks to have the slight edge, nor surprising with a better known contender and stronger undercard. It's also possible Jones' last two fights have been hurt by the proximity with the biggest pay-per-view draw of all, Floyd Mayweather Jr. Jones first fight with Gustafsson, which also did in the 300s, was a week after Mayweather vs. Canelo Alvarez. His most recent fight, on April 26, was a week before Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana.

Chad Mendes on Jose Aldo rematch: 'Payback's a bitch'

Hindsight is 20/20, or so the saying goes. For Mendes, UFC 176 represents a chance to demonstrate not merely who the better fighter is now, but change impressions of who he was then. This is the moment for Mendes to leverage the lessons learned in his only career defeat and what he's gained as a fighter and athlete in the time since that bitter loss. Mendes believes those lessons will prove themselves valuable when he takes the fight to Aldo in a way he believes no one else in the division can.

Jake Lindsey replaces Yosdenis Cedeno at UFC Fight Night 42 in Albuquerque

Tuck, who had a brief appearance on “The Ultimate Fighter 15,” made his official promotional debut at UFC on FUEL TV 6 and scored a decision win over Tiequan Zhang. However, in his most recent bout, the 29-year-old from Guam suffered his first career loss, a decision defeat to Norman Parke at UFC Fight Night 30.

Phil Davis Throws Out First Pitch in Pittsburgh

Growing up just two hours outside of Pittsburgh, in Harrisburg, PA, Phil Davis lived and breathed Pittsburgh Pirates baseball. The 29-year-old light heavyweight is always sporting his Pirates cap to represent his hometown team, and has been dreaming about the day he could walk onto the field at PNC Park, in that hat as a member of the Pirates. On Wednesday afternoon, Davis' dream came true when he threw out the first pitch before the Pirates battled the San Francisco Giants in an afternoon major league baseball game. Still riding the wave of adrenalin shortly after his big baseball moment, Davis said the experience was awesome. "I threw a half decent pitch. It probably looked awful, but I threw a half way decent pitch," Davis said. "So I had that going for me. "The fan reaction was awesome and, who knows, maybe they'll be thinking about getting me out there," Davis said laughing. "Maybe in Triple A or something like that." Davis made his way back to Pennsylvania back in November of 2013 during the UFC's 20th anniversary tour across the nation. He visited State College and made it known that he wanted to go back to his home state once baseball season started.

Bellator 119: What to Watch For

Desmond Green is a prototypical grinder. | Photo: Dave Mandel/ Bellator MMA will once again set down on Canadian soil this Friday, when Bellator 119 goes down at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario. The Spike TV-broadcast main draw was supposed to be headlined by a middleweight tournament final between Brett Cooper and Brandon Halsey , but that booking was scrapped on just four days’ notice after Cooper withdrew with a back injury. Instead, the show’s festivities will be topped by the Season 10 featherweight final, which pits Daniel Weichel against Desmond Green . Here is what to watch for at Bellator 119: FEATHERWEIGHT FINAL Either Weichel or Green will earn himself a title shot. The other man, unfortunately, will slide down the figurative shoot. A former M-1 Global champion and a veteran of 41 pro fights, Weichel has proven himself to be a competent grappler and a hunter of submissions during nearly 12 years as a pro. Although Weichel found Matt Bessette to be a much hardier foe than quarterfinal opponent Scott Cleave, the German nevertheless got the job done to set up a meeting with Green.

Wanderlei Silva's Road to UFC 175: Wand Sets Sonnen Bashing Aside, Begins Training for the Fight |

Although a back injury sustained during their scuffle for Silva vs. Sonnen to move from the May 31 finale to UFC 175 on July 5, it appears the Silva is on the road to recovery as he returned to the gym in his first episode of “Wanderlei Silva’s Road to UFC 175.”

Instead of focusing so heavily on the sports , let’s actually focus on the entertainment that Tim Sylvia has provided us over the years. Personally, I was still in high school during the Tim Sylvia Era. A friend had exposed me to his collection of UFC events, and I immediately became hooked. I won’t claim that I was the biggest fan of the then-heavyweight champion — even with my limited knowledge of MMA, I realized Sylvia was an unrefined fighter — but there was something inspiring about watching him compete. “The Maine-iac” managed to achieve the highest honor in his sport, despite being the last person on the planet who most people would look at and think “professional athlete.” And of course, his rivalry with Andrei Arlovski helped make things interesting, even when his fights occasionally weren’t .

Now that Vitor Belfort is off TRT, Brazilian commission sees no reason for extra testing

Unfortunately, these are exactly the kind of concerns raised by fighters like Dan Henderson and Roy Nelson , that former TRT users would be able to just go back to regular steroid use, without the kind of commission oversight they were getting under an official exemption. That may not be the case in places like Nevada, which have moved toward more stringent testing of former TRT users, but unless the rest of the commissions follow suit, Nevada could be one of a few minor oases in the regulation desert.

The Melendez-Thomson trilogy: Remembering Strikeforce's signature series

Round 5: Biggest ovation from the crowd all night as round five starts. A "Gilbert" chant breaks out. Thomson looks confident. Melendez scores a takedown. Thomson back to his feet. Two minutes in. Thomson steps into a huge right that just misses Melendez. Melendez blocks a high kick. Thomson registers a flurry. Two minutes left. Thomson once again claims an eye poke. Brief break. Back to action. Hellacious flurry by Thomson, finished off with a knee. Crowd now chanting for Thomson. One minute left. Thomson with a takedown. Thirty seconds left. They finish with Thomson in Melendez's guard. Got a feeling this one will come down to how the judges scored a close round three. Big ovation from the crowd at the finish. MMAFighting scores the round for Thomson, 10-9 (48-47 Melendez overall).

Bibiano Fernandes' leg wasn't broken during One FC 15 win

"They didn’t mention my next fight yet, let’s wait and see what’s next," said the champion. "There’s a Korean guy (Kim) that is undefeated and has beat everybody (at One FC). I heard he’s tough. But I don’t know if he’s going to be my next fight. I’m waiting. I will fight whoever they want."

Where's 'Frodo,' anyway? Here's the latest on Bellator standout Magomedrasul Khasbulaev

So what exactly does it mean for Khasbulaev? Hopefully he’ll be permitted to return to the U.S. is short order. After all, the fighter, who’s racked up 18 stoppages in 21 career wins, is finally seeing some clarity in Bellator’s featherweight division. After cutting in line for a trilogy fight, Pat Curran got a shot at Daniel Straus and reclaimed his belt in March.

Phil Davis throws out first pitch at Pirates game, jokes about playing baseball

Davis, who grew up a huge Pirates fan in Harrisburg, Pa., talked a ton of smack about UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones in the buildup to his fight with Johnson. Many people thought talking about Jones distracted Davis from the task at hand, but perhaps he was actually distracted by his potential big-league pitching career.

Not since Nick Diaz invented the Stockton Heybuddy have we seen a fighter gain so much notoriety for a hand gesture, but that seems to be the case with one  Bethe Correia . Whether us MMA fans will admit it or not, we all get a semi at the thought of an honest grudge match between MMA fighters, and when Correia silently dissed the “Four Horsewoman” following her victory over Jessamyn Duke at UFC 172, it was pretty much a done-deal that she would face one of the three remaining members in her next UFC contest.

Why Pat Barry Should Not Retire

On Saturday night, Pat Barry made his return to kickboxing at Glory 16 against another hard-hitting heavyweight Zack Mwekassa. It was a short brutal fight that ended with a vicious uppercut that laid Barry out. It was not easy for many to watch and it led to many of them calling for him to retire after the fight.
