How NASA might build its very first warp drive
A few months ago, physicist Harold White stunned the aeronautics world when he announced that he and his team at NASA had begun work on the development of a faster-than-light warp drive. His proposed design, an ingenious re-imagining of an Alcubierre Drive, may eventually result in an engine that can transport a spacecraft to the nearest star in a matter of weeks — and all without violating Einstein's law of relativity. We contacted White at NASA and asked him to explain how this real life warp drive could actually work.

Why Should We Support the Idea of an Unconditional Basic Income?
Right now only those with the means to pay for bread have a voice for bread. We love to use the term, “voting with our dollars”. So is the outcome of that daily election accurate? Does everyone have a voice for bread? No, they don’t. There are people with no voice, because they have no dollars. The only way to make sure the market is working as efficiently and effectively as possible to determine what should be getting made, how much to make of it, and where to distribute it, is to make sure everyone has at the very minimum, the means to vote for bread. If they have that money and don’t buy bread, there’s no need to make and distribute that bread. If the bread is bought, that shows people actually want that bread. So how do we accomplish this improvement of capitalistic markets?

Have We Seen the Last of Wanderlei Silva in the UFC? "They're Going to Bury Him!" | MMAWeekly.com
“It’s not easy to get Vitor Belfort an opponent in two-and-a-half weeks (notice),” said White. “(And) on this agenda, you’ve got Wanderlei Silva, the Chael Sonnen thing was going down. There’s a few boxers that are going in on the same agenda. There’s no fight for Vitor right now. When we come up with a fight, let Vitor apply for a license in Nevada.

UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov staff picks and predictions
Patrick Wyman : "The Puncher King" is a legitimate threat to Mighty Mouse's reign of terror, and I think the betting lines (as high as +500) aren't giving him nearly enough credit for his well-rounded game and ridiculously powerful right hand. With that said, it's easy to see why Johnson is the favorite here. He should own the striking at range with his volume, movement, and control of angles, he has the far quicker wrestling shot, and he's probably the superior grappler and scrambler as well. Where this gets interesting is at close range and in the clinch. Bagautinov has a dramatic edge in punching power and throws beautifully in transitions and on clinch breaks, and he's perfectly capable of ending Johnson's night with one overhand or uppercut from his vicious right. The smart pick is Johnson by unanimous decision given his greater output and ability to push the pace, but don't sleep on Bagautinov.

Fighter Diet: calories in vs out
Let's say you use one tablespoon of peanut butter. How much does that serving weigh? You might be able to pile up a lot more on the spoon than is listed on the nutrition label. If the peanut butter is cold and you're determined to max out the spoon you can succeed to make it three times more peanut butter on there, but you'll still write down in the journal 'ONE tablespoon'.
NEWS - Ashlee Evans-Smith Looks To Remain Undefeated At WSOF 10 | World Series of Fighting
Another addition to the WSOF 10 Supercard on the 21st that already features 3 title fights, will be CFA Women’s Featherweight Champion, Ashlee Evans-Smith (2-0) taking on Marciea Allen (3-1).
Evans-Smith has been training extensively and looks forward to extending her winning streak.
“My training has been going really well, I’ve been working on a lot of grappling and ground and pound. We always change the gameplan per opponent, we took what her record and videos showed us to formulate a gameplan. I can’t expose exactly the information but I know she has a striking background. But she’s basic in her striking and we are working to be more dynamic and I don’t think she’ll be able to hang with the pressure and I’ll dictate the fight with my strong suits in wrestling and grappling. I don’t think I’ll have a problem taking her.”
In Ashlee’s last fight she dispatched of Fallon Fox for the CFA Women’s 145 Pound Title by knocking her out at 3:15 of round 3 at Championship Fighting Alliance 12.
Marciea Allen is rumored to be Fox’s teammate so there could be a slight sense of redemption.
“I heard Allen is a teammate of Fallon’s and I don’t care if there’s a hidden vendetta there, I just think it’d be funny if I beat her (Fox) then her teammate (Allen) then her camp would really be mad at me.
UFC 174 play-by-play and live results
Round 3 – Both fighters trading to start. Easton is the aggressor, but it’s back-and-forth. Jabouin wants a takedown, but Easton win’t have it. They battle in the clinch against the fence. Easton spins to the outside. He’s thinking takedown, but Jabouin defends well against the cage. Crowd doesn’t like the pace, and Jabouin eventually circles away. Once again, they look to strike, but Jabouin quickly dips underneath and scores a takedown. Easton scrambles, and Jabouin moves to his back. Easton turns in and settles on his back. He attacks the arm and uses it to move to top position. Nice sweep, and now he’s in side control with 90 seconds left. Easton needs a strong finish here. Jabouin tries to sweep to his feet, but Easton presses him back down and scores a few short punches to the body. Jabouin turns to full guard. Easton tries to posture and punch. He’ll finish the round in top position. Close fight. MMAjunkie leans toward Jabouin in the third, 10-9, giving Jabouin the win 29-28, but it could go either way. Just depends on if top position was enough to get Easton the third.

UFC boss Dana White: T.J. Dillashaw-Renan Barao rematch 'probably' next
“[Dillashaw's next fight] probably will be the Barao rematch,” White told MMAjunkie prior to Friday’s weigh-ins for UFC 174 in Vancouver. “Tell me if I’m wrong. I think we sat there and we started looking through the list of guys to fight T.J., and there is a list of guys, which is a great thing, but how do you not give it to Barao, the guy who was undefeated all those years? I agree he got a five-round a– whooping and got finished, but how does it make sense to not give him the rematch? And who doesn’t want to see it?”
UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov - Live results and play-by-play for preliminary card
Round 3 -Tanaka moving around a lot again while Delorme chases. Tanaka charges in and Delorme turns and Tanaka has the back standing. Delorme turns and Tanaka throws him to end up on top. Tanaka tries to take the back, Delorme turns and ends up on top in mount before ending up on the back himself, Tanaka turns and manages to end up back on top. That may have been Delorme's last chance escaping him. Tanaka with some punches and elbows and Delorme is opened up near his eye. Now Tanaka back to full mount. Delorme with a good hip escape. Tanaka opening up with more punches now. Delorme manages to get to his feet after taking a few punches and gets thrown right back down. Tanaka put a bit of a beating on him this round and clearly should win the decision. 10-9 Tanaka makes it 30-27 Tanaka on my card.
10 reasons to watch UFC 174, including a drama-free flyweight title fight
On Saturday, “Mighty Mouse” punches the clock for his first pay-per-view headliner, which takes place at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena and is the promotion’s first trip to the city in three years. Johnson’s starring role at UFC 174 comes at an interesting point in the UFC’s business, a period that could generously be described as a transitional phase for stars. With another one now forced to hang up his gloves, the roster of proven draws gets a little bit smaller. For the flyweight champ, the shoes to fill get bigger.
UFC 174 staff picks: On close card, Demetrious Johnson gets a unanimous nod
Demetrious Johnson is the heaviest favorite on Saturday’s UFC 174 card, and he’s of two fighters to get a unanimous nod from the MMAjunkie staff. One other came close on a highly competitive main card .

UFC 174 results, photos: Jason Saggo stops Josh Shockley with first-round TKO
“He’s a taller guy, so I really wanted to use my lower center of gravity to get under him and hip toss him,” Saggo said. “Once I got him to side control and started landing my shots, I flattened him out and got my hooks in. The ref said there was 10 seconds left, so I just threw as many accurate punches as fast as I could, Bas Rutten style. I was just doing whatever I could to finish the fight. Dana White told us specifically in his pre-fight speech not to leave it in the hands of the judges and I was trying my best to keep that from happening.”

Writers VS Fighters UFC 174 by @AdamMartinShow
Woodley, just has not been winning fights, but finishing! Although ranked fairly high coming into the UFC, recent wins over Jay Heiron, Josh Koscheck, and Carlos Condit now have Tyrone just one spot behind his advisory come UFC 174 at number 3. A win here will most likely put one of these men next in line for a title shot following champion Johnny Hendricks next title defense. A win for either Zidan or Hill will solidity their spot in Writers Vs Fighters and also ensure bragging rights until UFC 175 comes around.

UFC 174 undercard live blog: Sarafian vs. Kunimoto, More
Jason Saggo vs. Josh Shockley Round 1: They touch ‘em up and we're off. Saggo stalks Shockley into the fence then body locks into a trip. Saggo floated right into mount there. Nice. Shockley hips escapes and attacks with an armbar from the bottom. Saggo stacks him, moves into side control, then easily advances back into mount. Shockley bides his time then hips escapes into half guard. Saggo goes knee on belly into side control. Shockley scrambles to one knee, then to his feet. Shockley busting out a few Matt Serra footstomps against the cage. Saggo doesn't like it, and trips Shockley back onto the mat. Saggo postures up, unloads a few punches, then dives into half guard. Shockley gives up his back, and Saggo flattens him out looking for a choke. Shockley defends but Saggo just starts unleashing punches. More punches and this one is close to being stopped. That's it. TKO stoppage right at the horn.
Video: What's at stake for UFC 174's Ryan Bader and 'Feijao' Cavalcante
VANCOUVER – Although tonight’s co-headliners have stolen much of the focus, UFC 174 offers another intriguing main-card bout between light heavyweights Ryan Bader (16-4 MMA, 9-4 UFC) and Rafael Cavalcante (12-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC).
UFC 174 fight card primer: Main card
Bloody Elbow presents its fight primer coverage for UFC 174: Johnson vs. Bagautinov. Here, we look at the main card, co-headlined by Rory MacDonald against Tyron Woodley.
Rafael Cavalcante believes everything is lining up to win at UFC 174
"Bader has a good stand-up game and good ground game, a good top control. He’s pretty much well-rounded, a top 10. There are no easy fights in the top 10 of this division," he continued. "He’s a really tough opponent, but so am I. I know how much I trained to be here and what I’ve been through. I believe that 80 percent of the game is about the mental aspect, and my head is really well for this fight."
Renan Barão is Likely Next for TJ Dillashaw; But What About Assuncao and Faber? | MMAWeekly.com
“What we did was, we brought him into the office and ripped his contract up into tiny little pieces and made him a new one,” White said, but he wasn’t ready to move him away from the Brazilian, who hadn’t lost in 33 consecutive bouts prior to losing the title.
Video: Why you shouldn't ask Tyron Woodley to break down his opponent
However, Woodley (13-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), in his usual upbeat mood, was more interested in talking about how he’ll win the fight and less about how his opponent can get the victory in what the betting public has determined is one of the night’s closest bouts.
Video: John Morgan and Mike Bohn break down UFC 174's top fights
Check out the video above for the full preview of UFC 174, which takes place at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. The main card airs on pay-per-view (10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT) following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Trying to get a better understanding of the introverted Rory MacDonald
The UFC welterweight contender, who meets Tyron Woodley at UFC 174 on Saturday night, speaks quietly with a conspicuous lack of emotion. Sometimes MacDonald's words can be intense, but his expression never changes. Those mannerisms and his preppy fashion sense have caused him to be dubbed by some as the "Canadian Psycho," a take on Christian Bale's serial-killer character in "American Psycho."
Marcus Brimage vs. Russell Doane slated for UFC 175 in Las Vegas
Brimage, who appeared on “The Ultimate Fighter 14,” won his first three fights after he appeared on the reality show, topping the likes of Maximo Blanco and Jimy Hettes. However, he then suffered a 67-second TKO loss to Conor McGregor in April 2013. The 29-year-old hasn’t fought since then. Soon after the loss, he told MMAjunkie he had suffered an Achilles tendon injury and would be sidelined until 2014.

In the fifth episode of UFC 174 Embedded, the fighters make their final preparations as they weigh-in and make their bouts official, and believe it or not — no joke — Joe Rogan takes down a bear!
Dana White's UFC 174 Bonus Scrum: Finding the Next GSP and Does Barão Get the Rematch? | MMAWeekly.com
UFC president Dana White was a speaker at a Vancouver Board of Trade luncheon prior to Friday’s weigh-ins in Vancouver. And despite already conducting his usual pre-fight scrum with media at Thursday’s UFC 174 Media Day, White held court once again following his VBT appearance.
UFC 174 fight card: What's at stake?
At stake: a chance for something more . I say this in every one of these columns, but that's because it's true. These guys are being placed here neither because they're on the cusp of a title shot nor because they're insignificant. They're somewhere in the middle, but the key is that how they match-up is supposed to kick off the pay-per-view portion of the card in a fan-friendly way. The winner doesn't get a chance to pull much more out of this win than an opportunity to earn future wins on future cards of note, but that's no small prize. These two are expected to open the show with a bang. If they do, they'll find themselves in a better spot the next time out.
UFC 175 video preview: A look at Weidman-Machida, Rousey-Davis title fights
Although we’re just hours away from tonight’s UFC 174 event, the organization returns to pay-per-view on Fourth of July weekend for a stacked championship doubleheader at UFC 175.
Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez hints at Michael Chandler rubber match on Twitter
"Your boss ain't having it" just about implies Bjorn Rebney and "interim" is an obvious reference to Brooks. Alvarez and Brooks have done plenty of verbal sparring and have expressed mutual interest in fighting each other over the past few weeks. Alvarez seems to be indicating that he wanted Brooks but Rebney/Bellator officials overruled him, and based on his tone he doesn't seem to be pleased with what transpired.
Dana White considering an immediate title rematch for Renan Barao
UFC President Dana White revealed at a pre-fight scrum that Renan Barao will likely get an immediate rematch against TJ Dillashaw.
Numbers on Jason Saggo's side for exciting debut at UFC 174
“He’s a pretty quiet guy; he was in the zone, so I didn’t want to mess with him too much,” Saggo said. “We trained together a couple of years ago in Montreal. But I didn’t get to talk to him – we were too busy signing 150 posters. Every single fighter on the card signed those posters.”
BE Analytics: UFC 174 preview and predictions
Notes: Strike attempts are for an entire five minute round in each position (P5M) and are categorized as jab or power. A jab is just a non-power strike. Strikes are documented based on where they land or are targeted (head, body, legs), not the type that is thrown (punch, elbow, kick, knee). Visible damage rate is per five minutes the fighter is not on his back. It’s hard to bust up someone’s face while lying on your back. Damage percent is per power head strike landed. Knockdown rate is per five minutes at distance or in the clinch off the cage. Knockdown percent is per power head strike landed while standing. It’s really hard to knock someone down if they’re already on the ground. Clinch control is having the opponent pressed against the cage. Ground control is having top position. Submission attempts are per five minutes of ground control minus time spent in the opponent’s guard plus time spent with the opponent in guard.
Daniel Sarafian admits he was 'scared' over cut to welterweight
Daniel Sarafian hasn’t fought in seven months, but there’s a reason for that long layoff. The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 1 star decided to cut down to welterweight after a 1-2 run in the UFC, and he needed some time to find out if that was possible.
