Reports: Michael Page to Make Sophomore Boxing Appearance on June 15 in England

Just three weeks after scoring a second-round stoppage of David Rickels at Bellator 200, flamboyant British striker will compete in his second boxing match at York Hall in London on June 15. MMANytt.com first reported the news, and ESPN.com’s Chamatkar Sandhu confirmed the booking with event promoter David Haye. Page does not yet have an opponent for the card. The 31-year-old Page made his professional boxing debut in October 2017 with a third-round technical knockout victory over Jonathan Castano in Greenwich, England. Page’s opponent fell to 2-12-1 with that defeat. Meanwhile, Page’s win over Rickels on May 25 was his first MMA appearance since taking a split verdict against Fernando Gonzalez at Bellator 165 on Nov. 19, 2016. “Venom” is 13-0 in his MMA career, with all but two of his triumphs coming inside the distance.

Gregor Gillespie Not a Fan of Callouts Following a Win: ‘It’s Silly for Me to Do That’

As so often happens when a fighter earns a big victory in the Octagon, Gregor Gillespie was prompted to make a callout in his post-fight interview at UFC Fight Night Utica on Friday. The four-time NCAA All-American wrestler from Edinboro University declined to make use of the platform after earning his fifth consecutive UFC triumph, a second-round submission of Vinc Pichel in the evening’s co-main event. Instead, as he so often does, Gillespie talked about fishing. “I don’t call people out. It’s not what I do,” Gillespie said in his post-fight interview. “ All I’m thinking about right now is fishing tomorrow and fishing the next day. I’ll be fishing until my training partner fights at Madison Square Garden next week and then I’m going to go and support him. I also don’t worry about winning streaks because guess what, if I lose what good is that winning streak? Some people have suggested my next fight should be at MSG but I like fighting away from home. I like staying in a hotel with my training partners. It puts me the right mindset, just having fun and being a team.

UFC Fight Night 131 results: Desmond Green outworks Gleison Tibau for unanimous decision

Tibau landed nicely just ahead of the midway point of the final round. But Green came back from it in a hurry, and with authority. He wobbled Tibau and put him on the ropes with his fists. Tibau was bleeding from his nose, but Green let his foot off the pedal and reset in the center with two minutes left. Tibau got a few punches off late, but it wasn’t enough to turn the tide.

After ‘Miscommunication,’ Yair Rodriguez Says ‘UFC and I Are On the Best Terms Ever’

Just a week ago, Yair Rodriguez was getting ready to test the free agent waters. Now, his relationship with the UFC — which cut him for what it claims was a refusal to accept a fight — is seemingly better than ever. The tide began to change on Friday, when ESPN.com’s Brett Okamoto reported that the UFC had rescinded the termination of Rodriguez’s contract to set up a potential fight between the Mexican featherweight and Zabit Magomedsharipov at UFC 228. On Saturday, Rodriguez released a statement explaining how things played out. The saga took a positive turn when “El Pantera” met with matchmaker Sean Shelby face-to-face over lunch. “I address to all my fans, friends and family for always [being] supportive of my career. As well I’ll like to thank all of those companies showing interest in my persona and work,” Rodriguez wrote. “Sean Shelby and I have a friend in common, Mario Delgado, he was the connection between us. He set up a meeting between Sean and I, where we had a friendly conversation during lunch on Friday.

Broken system? UFC early weigh-ins by the numbers two years later

MMA is still a growing and evolving sport with many problems – few of which have an easy fix. The numbers prove the early weigh-in system has not made it easier on fighters to hit their contracted limits, and unless there’s another radical change on the horizon, it’s a topic that won’t go away anytime soon.

Jimmie Rivera Explains Backstage Altercation Following UFC Fight Night Utica Defeat

As far as Jimmie Rivera is concerned, he and Marlon Moraes have no beef. The two bantamweights were cordial following Moraes’ head-kick knockout of Rivera in the UFC Fight Night 131 headliner in Utica, N.Y., on Friday night. The former World Series of Fighting champion even went over to console Rivera on his stool moments after the bout ended in a display of sportsmanship. However, Fox Sports 1 did capture footage of Rivera engaged in a brief verbal altercation backstage with what appeared to be Moraes manager, Ali Abelaziz, after the fighters had left the Octagon. When asked about the incident, Rivera said the issue was between him and Moraes’ management, but that both parties have moved on. Rivera and Moraes have trained together in the past. “There’s no tension between him [Moraes] and I. There’s no tension with the camps,” Rivera said on FS1. “It’s just his management. His manager keeps running his mouth. It is what it is. We let it go.” Shortly after the knockout, Moraes’ manager, Abdelaziz sent a tweet of support to Rivera. But the incident seemed to have occur after that message.

By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night 131

Jimmie Rivera never saw it coming. Former World Series of Fighting titlist Marlon Moraes put an emphatic end to Rivera’s 20-fight winning streak, as he knocked out the Team Tiger Schulmann representative with a head kick just 33 seconds into the opening round of their headlining encounter at UFC Fight Night 131 in Utica, N.Y., on Friday night. Moraes is now undoubtedly on the short list of top contenders to challenger the winner of the T.J. Dillashaw - Cody Garbrandt bantamweight title rematch at UFC 227 in August. Two New Bouts Announced for UFC Fight Night Hamburg on July 22

A pair of welterweight contests have been added to the UFC Fight Night 134 lineup, as Alan Jouban will square off against Danny Roberts , while Emil Meek will meet Bartosz Fabinski on July 22. The Las Vegas-based promotion recently announced the pairings. UFC Fight Night 134 takes place in Hamburg, Germany, and is headlined by a light heavyweight showdown between Volkan Oezdemir and Mauricio Rua . The 35-year-old Jouban halted a two-bout skid in his most recent outing when he scored a second-round knockout of Ben Saunders at UFC on Fox 28 on Feb. 24. Roberts, meanwhile, was successful in his first appearance of 2018, as he knocked out Oliver Enkamp in the second round at UFC Fight Night 127. Meek began his promotional tenure with a decision win over Jordan Mein but was outpointed by Kamaru Usman in his most recent outing at UFC Fight Night 124 on Jan. 14. Warsaw, Poland’s Fabinski is currently on a six-fight winning streak that includes triumphs over Hector Urbina and Garreth McLellan in the Octagon.

Sherdog’s Official Mixed Martial Arts Rankings - Sweet Dreams

It was less competition than it was coronation. Gegard Mousasi on May 25 laid claim to the undisputed Bellator MMA middleweight championship, as he steamrolled Rafael Carvalho in the Bellator 200 main event at the SSE Arena in London. Carvalho succumbed to punches 3:35 into Round 1, the Brazilian beaten for the first time in more than six years. Now 2-0 since joining the Bellator roster, Mousasi has the look of a fighter who could enjoy a lengthy reign atop the promotion’s 185-pound weight class. He moves to No. 7 in the latest Sherdog divisional rankings, leapfrogging the in-limbo Georges St. Pierre . Mousasi’s rout of Carvalho was not the only event to shake the middleweight division. Former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder Michael Bisping announced his retirement after a wildly successful 39-fight career. “The Count” had considered a farewell fight in his native England but decided against it following a violent knockout loss to Kelvin Gastelum in November. Bisping’s departure at age 39 clears the way for Derek Brunson ’s return to the Top 10.

UFC Fight Night 130 ‘Thompson vs. Till’ Play-by-Play, Results & Round-by-Round Scoring

Makwan Amirkhani vs. Jason Knight Round 1 Knight strikes first with a leg kick, and Amirkhani immediately throws his hands up to say it was nothing. Knight is the aggressor in the opening minute, attacking largely with kicks but also sticking a hard jab. Amirkhani swings back with a right hook that puts Knight in reverse. Amirkhani tries a flying knee and is taken down by Knight, but "Mr. Finland" sweeps straight to top position and sticks out his tongue at the American. Knight closes up a tight guard, so Amirkhani backs off and allows him to stand. Amirkhani lands the right hook again, now comes over the top with a left. Knight eats another right hook, tries to come forward swinging punches in return, but Amirkhani backpedals out of range. Knight explodes forward with a combination but only finds himself wrapped up and taken down. Amirkhani wants Knight back on his feet, where the Finnish fighter begins jawing at his bloodied opponent. Knight continues to connect with low kicks but is having trouble finding Amirkhani with his hands. Amirkhani whiffs on a lead uppercut and gets blasted by an uppercut from Knight.

UFC Fight Night 131 reactions: Winning and losing fighters on social media

Much love out there tonight! Losing still sucks but I fought my ass off and gave it my all. I’m okay, not hurt at all, not even my pride. If losing a contendership fight in the UFC is the worst of my problems today, that means I have a great life. I still love what I do, I’ll live to fight another day, and next time I’ll come back better with improvements made where I was weak tonight. Thank you to everyone for the support, especially my team. The only thing I’m disappointed about is that I don’t get to bring the W home to you guys. Congrats to Sijara and her team, and thanks for being a class act in victory. On to the next ❤️👊🏼

Sijara Eubanks Targets Flyweight Title Shot, Montano-Shevchenko Winner for Next UFC Bout

It took a while to get there, but Sijara Eubanks ’ Octagon debut was worth the wait. The would-be “Ultimate Fighter 26” finalist took a unanimous decision win over Lauren Murphy at UFC Fight Night 131 in Utica, N.Y., on Friday night. The victory came some six months after Eubanks was originally scheduled to make her debut at the “TUF 26” finale before a disastrous weight cut forced her off the card. While Eubanks missed out on a chance to become the promotion’s inaugural flyweight queen, the overall learning experience might have been more valuable in the long run. “I’ve said over and over again that missing that weight in December was the best thing for my career. I had to take myself very seriously after that,” Eubanks said. “I thought I was a professional fighter up to that point but there were gaps and holes in my game. I was lacking discipline, conditioning, nutrition and it forced me to take a long, hard look at that stuff. I went out to the UFC Performance Institute and worked with Clint [Wattenburg], Duncan [French], Forrest [Griffin] and all the great guys out there and they were able to test my body and really see how I burn calories and how I fuel my body.

I'd take this as advice more than anything. Till is too big for Welterweight, and the video's released this week have made that very clear. Nothing worse than seeing a potentially good career lost by bad weight cuts and fight cancellations. RDA made the right move.

Jessica Aguilar Speaks Out Following Fight Cancellation Over “chapped lips” - MMA Imports

‪Hey guys! Here’s a little update on the BS that went down today right before my fight. I am super disappointed and heartbroken, this is the second fight in a row canceled. I want to clear things up. The commission had a concern regarding my lips and my use of chapstick during the physical exam prior to weigh-ins so they requested that I be cleared by a dermatologist. So right after weigh-ins the commission rush me to get clearance which I was granted by the dermatologist. But tonight, at the arena, the commission struck again and canceled the fight. You can’t reason with this commission, it kinda felted personal. ‬I am hopeful the @UFC will rebook our fight ASAP.
