UFC Fight Night: Henderson vs Khabilov Predictions - Fighters Only
However, in his way is Rustam Khabilov, one of the many Dagestani fighters who are making a name for themselves in MMA at the moment. He's got slick grappling and throws that are reminiscent of former WWE superstar Chris Benoit. One aspect of Khabilov's game which has improved significantly is his striking and I think that's where he'll win this fight. If it was a grappling match and there were a tonne of scrambles then I'd go with Henderson, as he's proven that he can do enough in those situations to impress the judges. However, if the Rustam Khabilov who out-boxed Jorge Masvidal turns up, which I think he will, I'm going to go with Khabilov winning as I've never truly been impressed by the striking of Henderson.

Anderson Silva and Nick Diaz both interested in potential super fight
The real key to this whole scenario is that Diaz is on board because this is a fight he's wanted for some time and believes it could be one of the biggest matchups in MMA history. Silva's side seems to agree, so now it appears to just be a matter of getting the UFC to want this fight to happen.
Outside the Octagon: Diego's Dream Fight
As the UFC heads into Albuquerque for the first time this Saturday night, it’s important to note that the biggest fight in that city’s history didn’t even take place there. That doesn’t mean the July 1997 bout between Johnny Tapia and Danny Romero didn’t warrant a spot in the heart of New Mexico, it’s just that it was a fight and a rivalry too immense to be held anywhere but Las Vegas, where the late, great Tapia won a 12-round unanimous decision over Romero. Both were stars in the ABQ, Tapia the tattooed bad boy from the streets, Romero the squeaky clean kid with matinee idol looks. They didn’t like each other and weren’t shy about telling the world about it. The fight drew battle lines around the city, but when it was all said and done, the fighters mended fences while going in separate directions in their careers. Romero would fight on until 2006, winning more than he lost, but never reaching the heights he did leading into that night in 1997. Tapia became a superstar the night he beat Romero, and his story captivated the world for both good and bad reasons. His tragic history caught up to him in 2011 when he died much too young at the age of 45, but no one will soon forget him.

Hemp vs Cotton: The Ultimate Showdown
Hemp has been making a lot of noise lately, especially with the growing awareness surrounding the use of hemp oil for treating cancer. Although the word ‘hemp’ still often gets confused and lumped into the same definition as Cannabis, a similar but psychoactive plant, it’s important to realize hemp can be a major game changer for our world if used to its potential. As we go through this post, you will be wondering ‘why don’t we use this stuff all the time.. for everything?!’ Simple answer, farming hemp was banned in the US and other countries in the 1937 because of the threat it caused to certain companies and their businesses. More about that here.

The Fighter & The Kid
This podcast has jumped to the top of my UFC/MMA podcast list - but c'mon, once a week?. I really feel like Brendan and Bryan should be able to do at least 2 eps a week, or maybe 2 hours a pop - I mean, what else do these guys have to do during the day? Brendan habitually mispronouncing every major UFC fighter's name on the roster is a nice touch, too. I also want to hear more about Bryan's mad greco skills. I think he should do each episode shirtless.

Dana White: Jon Jones wants to fight Daniel Cormier, not Alexander Gustafsson next
UFC president Dana White told UFC.com on Monday that Jones wants to defend his light heavyweight title against Daniel Cormier next instead of Alexander Gustafsson. The UFC already has a date and venue for a potential Jones-Gustafsson rematch -- Aug. 30 in Las Vegas -- and White said over the weekend before UFC Fight Night in Berlin that he wasn't happy Jones had not signed the bout agreement.

50 Cent threw one of the worst pitches in baseball history a few days ago, and won't admit that he did it on purpose because his new album needs attention of any kind. Rather, he's been vomiting out dumb-ass excuse after dumb-ass excuse, each one more cringe-worthy than the last.
Is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Dead? A Look at the Evolution of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Wrestling had existed for thousands of years, but a complex collection of written sharable submission tactics only came about a few hundred years ago. Mitsuyo Maeda, the judo ground fighting specialist sent to Brazil and elsewhere around the world set out to prove the effectiveness of these techniques. Or rather the effectiveness of these techniques to individuals unacquainted with them. He challenged local heroes and neighborhood protectors to no holds barred fights. He flying-armbarred them. They had no idea what the hell happened. It was effective. He taught the Gracies a few moves. They further developed the art. How do you learn the art? You practice. How do you test its effectiveness and increase its popularity and profitability? You hold competitions. Want to restrict access? Make the clothing expensive.
Chris Camozzi is in the MMA business and business is good
Part of Camozzi's financial success comes from the UFC and the other comes from the work he does with his management team to secure sponsors for all of his fights. The sponsor conversation has become another major issue with MMA pay lately because the once ripe industry where fighters were sometimes making as much or more than what the promotion was paying them has all but dried up in a very slow and burned out economy. The recently retired Mac Danzig was so frustrated with the business of sponsorships that for his last UFC fight before retiring, he actually went to the cage with no extra patches on his shorts in a protest of sorts for the lowball compensation and bad experience he'd had with that side of the business.
Parents bypass red tape to prevent toddler’s seizures with marijuana oil
The family heard about a marijuana oil that could help their daughter. But Health Canada will only prescribe medicinal pot to be smoked. The two-year-old, who once had 200 seizures a day, now takes two drops of the oil daily and has not had a seizure in three weeks. Kyla’s grandmother Elaine Nuessler said the legal uncertainty should not prevent the family from helping their daughter.
Daniel Cormier prepared to delay knee surgery for a title shot
Cormier, who defeated Dan Henderson at UFC 173 , injured his LCL and ACL ahead of the match-up, and planned to visit a doctor to get his knee scoped out. On Wednesday's edition of UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani revealed that the undefeated Olympian is prepared to delay his knee surgery if it would mean fighting for a world title - whether an interim title or for Jones' actual title.
Morning Report: Johny Hendricks wouldn't mind if Georges St-Pierre retired, still believes he won at UFC 167
"They're both great fights," said Hendricks. "Brown-Lawler. I fought Lawler, never fought Brown. It just depends how [Brown] goes into that fight. I don't like to really pick on my weight class. Sort of just like a guessing game so that one's a close one. Tyron Woodely can easily wrestle [MacDonald], could out-strike him or Rory MacDonald could keep him at bay with that jab like he did a couple of other guys. It just depends."
Help us raise funds for Stand for the Silent programs and the animals at Benson's Pals
Pals Animal Sanctuary supports Stand for the Silent to take a Bite out of
for the Silent was started in 2010 by a group of students from the Oklahoma
State University after they heard the story of Kirk and Laura Smalley’s son, Ty
Field-Smalley. At eleven years-old, Ty took his own life after being suspended
from school for retaliating against a bully that had been bullying him for over
two years. Stand for the Silent exists as a platform to allow Kirk and Laura to
share their story and offer education and tools that will prevent their tragedy
from happening to another child and family. Kirk and Laura’s mission is to
continue to change kids’ lives and bring awareness to bullying and the real
devastation it causes. Since May 2010, Kirk and Laura Smalley have traveled to
hundreds of schools and spoken with more than 833,000 kids. www.standforthesilent.org Benson's

UFC president Dana White: 'Alexander Gustafsson is the number one contender'
The UFC seems very adamant about doing this rematch, which would be the first of Jones' career and a big Las Vegas main event on Labor Day weekend. Just last year the UFC had Jones fight Chael Sonnen because "nobody else stepped up to fight him", but now the standing of #1 contender suddenly has substantial meaning. Gustafsson obviously has every right to be upset with Jones, but this once again highlights the UFC's inconsistencies regarding their awarding of title shots.

Pharrell Apologizes for Wearing Native American Headdress on Magazine Cover
Earlier this year, Wayne Coyne got some press after former Flaming Lips drummer Kliph Scurlock criticized Coyne's support of Christina Fallin . The daughter of Oklahoma governor Mary Fallin had posted a photo of herself in a Native American headdress, and as a show of support, Coyne took his own photos of other people (and animals) wearing headdresses. He later apologized .

Shogun Rua not retiring, eyes Octagon return at UFC Fight Night 51 in Japan
Furthermore, Mauricio hopes to make his comeback in Japan when UFC returns to "The Land of the Rising Sun" this fall with a UFC Fight Night 51 event that features a heavyweight slugest between Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson . With a large Japanese fan base acquired during his dominant run with PRIDE FC, it would be a homecoming of sorts.

WWE star Daniel Bryan geeked out over meeting UFC's Benson Henderson
Bryan is one of many WWE athletes who are fans and have trained in MMA. Former WWE champion CM Punk trains in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under the Gracies in California and is good friends with UFC star Chael Sonnen. Brock Lesnar, of course, is a former UFC heavyweight champion. And Dave Bautista, one of the co-headliners of Wrestlemania with Bryan, has one MMA fight, a victory, under his belt.

Should champions like Jon Jones be able to pick their opponents? Fellow UFC fighters weigh in
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones finds himself in an interesting position. As one of the most dominant champs in UFC history, does he deserve some input into who stands across from him in the octagon?
Glory 17 news: Cro Cop and Manhoef opponents announced, more fight card updates
Originally, Mirko Cro Cop vs. Sergei Kharitonov was to headline the Spike program, but a Kharitonov injury left Cro Cop without an opponent. Now, the new main event is set. It will be Mirko Cro Cop vs. Jarrell Miller. Miller, who makes his Glory debut here, is certainly not going to be a name known to the casual fans the same way Kharitonov was. But this is a big fight. Since returning to kickboxing in 2012, Cro Cop was undefeated until his controversial decision loss to Remy Bonjasky at Glory 14. One of the men he defeated in that run was Miller, who fell to Cro Cop in the K-1 Grand Prix tournament. However, most fans who watched the fight agree that Cro Cop, fighting in Croatia, was gifted a decision in that fight and that Miller should have won. Cro Cop went on to win the GP; Miller has not fought kickboxing since as he has instead focused on his boxing career. Now, Cro Cop fights to prove he deserved the win and that he still has it, while Miller looks to right what he perceives as a wrong from last time. For the hardcore fans, this is big.

Watercress Named Top 'Powerhouse' Veggie
For a sure way to boost the health benefits of your next meal, you may want to add watercress to the salad bowl. Its tangy leaves ranked highest on a new list of "powerhouse" fruits and vegetables, a new study says.
Hand-washing with Triclosan: Are We Getting Whitewashed?
In conventional soaps and detergents triclosan is unlikely to significantly reduce the risk of pathogenic infection. Worse, this could potentially create a false sense of security and cause the user to relax other efforts to keep surfaces clean. It may minimize the time and effort people put into hand-washing. It may give people with poor understanding the misconception that they are sterilizing a surface, dish, or their hands. Lack of understanding about microbes and good marketing is a dangerous combination for health prevention. In truth, human behavior, bacterial evolution, negate the perceived benefits of triclosan. Additionally, there is mounting evidence of a direct negative consequence due to broad low level overuse.

He headlines all over the country, putting his heart and soul into every performance with an act that is brash, deep and most importantly, funny. His live ticket at comedy clubs is always hot as his act is universal and night after night Adam Hunter delivers a powerful message that keeps audiences on the edges of their seats.
Twitter Mailbag: Jon Jones soap opera rolls on, 'Bendo' still searching for decisive win
You ask me, that makes him so much more intriguing as the champ MMA loves to hate. With Chael Sonnen, you know it’s a routine. With Jones, you’re left to wonder whether this is his real personality peeking out from behind the carefully crafted veneer of the humble boy wonder. It’s like he’s got this Incredible Hulk-type personality disorder, where most of the time he manages to keep the force of his own ego in check (and let’s be honest, few of us would manage to do that well if we could rightly claim to be the baddest man on the planet), but every once in a while, often after he’s been forced to take just a little too much crap from fans and/or the UFC, the monster breaks free from his chains. It just so happens that that monster looks like a smirking, superior, playfully arrogant kid wielding the body of a juggernaut. It’s actually kind of awesome, in its own way, and definitely way more interesting.
Daughter's birth provided career-changing outlook for Bellator 121's Philipe Lins
“The roughest period of my life came just over a year ago around the time my baby girl Louise was born,” Lins told MMAjunkie. “I was suffering from an injury at the time and I wasn’t sure if I was going to be fighting for Bellator. My future was uncertain, and that meant my family’s future was uncertain. That didn’t sit well with me.”
Report: Rustam Khabilov gave Ali Bagautinov 'a beating' in Greg Jackson's gym
If that's not bad enough, there was a real fight in the gym with Bagautinov and Rustam Khabilov. While everyone is publicly playing it down, everyone also admits it happened. The way we heard it was Khabilov, who is a lightweight, gave Bagautinov a beating, although not bad enough to cause him to pull out of the fight.
Rad Dad Feature: Gray Maynard
Gray Maynard is a family man, first and foremost. His career paints him as a mixed martial artist for the UFC but make no mistake he puts just as much heart into being a dad as he does in the cage if not more. With the fourth fastest knockout in UFC history, after just nine seconds, he has more than earned his nickname “The Bully”. When I reached out to Gray he was more than happy to take part and this is what really made me a fan for life. I had followed his career pretty closely, and watched him make some great fighters literally run away from him inside the cage, but when he said that was one of the “most important interviews he had ever done”, I knew not only did he have the skills and the heart, but he had his priorities straight and could stand as an inspiration on all levels. To me, a champion is made just as much outside the cage as he is inside it, and Gray seems to have a pretty good handle on both.
Training with Tyron Woodley, Rory MacDonald led Andrew Sanchez to RFA title fight
"I'm just grateful I had the opportunity to learn from both of them," said Sanchez (5-1). "Obviously I'm not talking about the one when I'm with the other. Tyron can win that fight with his fists and Rory can win it if it hits the ground. We'll see how it goes."
